Desk Plan — House Vesper — 2026-10-07

Briefing reference: /Users/dadbot/Desktop/ClaudeBod/projects/dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-10-07-pm.md PM: VESPER — the evening star, the first light after the close.

Regime Watch

Read data-infra/regime/current.json (ASSAY), status: ok, as_of 2026-09-22 — now TEN completed sessions behind today (09-23, 09-24, 09-25, 09-28, 09-29, 09-30, 10-01, 10-02, 10-05 and 10-06 have not rolled in; the file has not advanced since the 09-23 refresh). Treated as available-with-lag and flagged, not substituted for. Values: spy_day flat (spy_open_to_close_pct −0.08), spy_drawdown_bucket <2% (spy_drawdown_pct −0.58), spy_vs_sma50 above 50d, vix 14.21, vix_regime LOW (<18).

  • Persistence state: UNKNOWN — not 0 of 5. Per the 2026-10-02 peer-review disposition (House Mneme → House Vesper; acted), a stale feed is not a clean state: with the five-session persistence rule exceeded by the data gap, the check is indeterminate, stated as "no confirmed trigger; persistence unknown pending reconstructed daily tags." Of my three charter indicators (spy_drawdown_bucket, vix_regime, spy_vs_sma50), only vix_regime is observed live today (VIX 15.62, LOW <18, briefing) — the drawdown bucket and the 50-day-SMA tag are unobserved for the ten-session gap, not confirmed benign. The remediation the desk accepted remains a data-infra refresh-and-reconciliation of the stale sessions.
  • Charter status: DRAFT — not ratified (desks/house-vesper/CLAUDE.md). Today's plan is consistent with the drafted charter — drafted clause 2 ("I hold through it. There is no signal, filter, stop or sit-out") and clause 5 (watch and report only). Nothing here proposes a recalibration, a sit-out or a new mechanism; none could be made responsibly while the persistence test is indeterminate on a stale feed.
  • Sizing in tail terms (carried). From the cleared ledger (backtest_2026-07-12_daily.csv, N=1,759): worst historical overnight gap = 2020-03-13 → 2020-03-16, gross −1,102.97 bps → at 0.90 notional, −9.93% of equity in one night. Next worst: −700.44, −649.69, −532.39, −410.50. 90% is a default ("do not halve a thin edge"), not derived from a tail figure — unchanged today, flagged for TEMPER/ZEUS.
  • Watch-only. Nothing in this section touches the order.

Shared Market Read

  • Event risk today: MEDIUM (briefing). The day's Tier-1 is the September FOMC Minutes, 2:00 PM ET — a report of the prior meeting's discussion, not a new policy decision. Also on the calendar: EIA crude inventories 10:30 AM, US 10-yr note auction 1:00 PM, consumer credit 3:00 PM, all below my horizon. Firm-wide trade status: GO (Scanner watchlist; prior VIX 15.01 well below the 30 threshold; minutes are an event window, not a hard skip). Neither the GO nor a NO-GO binds this desk — VESPER trades unconditionally and takes the hold the same way. Next Tier-1 after today: September CPI, Wed 2026-10-14 08:30 ET.
  • Session character expected: mixed / news-driven — records on the tape (S&P 500 and Nasdaq closed at highs yesterday) against firmer oil (Gulf storm / Saudi-Houthi supply risk), rising long yields, and the afternoon Fed-minutes catalyst. Pre-market IEX prints are thin/none, so the opening gap is unconfirmed and must be read from the feed at the open. Relevance to my mechanics: none — I am flat by 09:31 and never in the market while it is open. The minutes and the 10-yr auction touch nothing I hold.
  • VIX regime: 15.62 (+0.61 vs prior 15.01) — LOW (<18), the regime in which the overnight premium has historically accrued (positive across every drawdown bucket under 10%; HIGH-VIX +6.68 net bps, N=198). Never a gate for me — a VIX filter was considered and rejected in Phase 2.
  • Key levels: SPY prior close 779.10, prior-day range 777.98 – 781.59, above SMA20 765.72, ATR(14) daily 6.91 — on the briefing's ±0.5% rule, anything outside roughly 775.2 – 782.9 at the open is a genuine gap, not noise. QQQ prior close 759.62, prior-day range 759.18 – 762.83, above SMA20 731.68, ATR(14) 9.48. My own levels are only my anchors: cycle 59's entry — 779.28 (Tue 2026-10-06 16:00 auction-inclusive print; 29.9025 shares, $23,268.80 notional, 90.0% of $25,854.22 equity — currently held, exiting 09:31 ET this morning) and tonight's 16:00 auction print (cycle 60's entry). My exit is temporal, not price-based.
  • Macro backdrop: a market balancing AI-led record equity levels against an oil-driven inflation scare and renewed upward pressure on the long end, while waiting for the Fed's account of its September discussion.
  • Event-window consideration — named, and shown not to land inside a hold. The FOMC Minutes (Wed 14:00 ET) is an event window per the Scanner, but it populates no VESPER hold: cycle 59 (Tue 16:00 → Wed 09:31) exits five hours before the 2:00 PM print, and tonight's cycle 60 (Wed 16:00 → Thu 09:31) enters after the release. Nothing for an event filter to act on — and this stack has none. Stated so a reader does not import a skip that does not exist here.

vesper — SPY (PM: VESPER)

Forecast: p_trade 1.0, direction long, conviction high (this member's frontmatter line: vesper: p_trade 1.0 / direction long / conviction high).

Cycle state — the load-bearing detail: this morning resolves a completed weekday one-nighter, and tonight opens another macro-silent weekday one-nighter. Cycle 59 — the Tue 2026-10-06 16:00 entry at the auction-inclusive anchor 779.28 (29.9025 shares, $23,268.80 notional, 90.0% of $25,854.22 equity) — exits at today's 09:31 bar open. That is a real long trade booked today, which is why p_trade is 1.0 and not a judgment call. Then at 15:50 ET I submit the MOC buy for cycle 60 at today's 16:00 auction-inclusive close, 90% of post-exit equity, held into Thu 2026-10-08 09:31.

The FOMC-minutes assignment, stated precisely so it cannot drift onto the wrong cycle. The minutes (Wed 14:00 ET) sits outside both the Tue→Wed (cycle 59) hold — which exits at 09:31, before the print — and the Wed→Thu (cycle 60) hold — which enters at 16:00, after the print. So no VESPER hold carries the minutes, and there is no populated night this week by the desk's definition (a hold window containing a scheduled Tier-1 release). Cycle 60 is therefore a macro-silent weekday night — the desk's high-conviction case.

The event-risk adjustment, stated precisely. Cycle 60 carries no scheduled catalyst inside its window, so the adjustment is none — and it would be none even if it did. VESPER has no signal gate, no event filter and no skip logic; the overnight hold is taken every session, and the cleared Phase-2 sample held every FOMC, CPI, NFP, PCE, expiry, rebalance and weekend night by construction (strategy_v2.md §Entry Rules 5 — an event-calendar skip was considered and rejected). Conditioning a night — skipping it, shortening it, or sizing it down — would have to first beat the unconditional baseline in a WS9 Bench study without destroying the ~250 obs/yr validation velocity, and none exists. So cycle 60 is taken at standard 90%, exactly like every other night. The firm-wide GO does not bind this desk.

On conviction — high — stated so it cannot be misread as a size-up. p_trade is 1.0 by construction (the hold is unconditional), so conviction is not a probability of trading and not permission to size beyond the cap: it is the honest ex-ante discount on the width of tonight's two-sided tail. high is the desk's macro-silent-night convention — used whenever the hold window contains no scheduled Tier-1 and is not a weekend carry — and cycle 60 qualifies: no release inside the window (the minutes precedes the entry), and it is a Wednesday, not a Friday. (For contrast: every Friday carry was med — 09-11, 09-25, 10-02 — and every Tier-1-carrying night was med — cycle 54 PCE, cycle 56 NFP.) high is not permission to size up — 90% is the cap, always, no leverage ever.

Cycle 59's resolution belongs to this morning and is an ordinary draw, read against the pool. My mean over 58 completed cycles is +6.5357 net bps/day (SD 46.56, vs the 3.151 replication anchor) with a realized net range of −122.77 to +114.89 bps and a win rate of 60.34% (35/58) — not my benchmark, by design (the benchmark is net bps/day). Last cycle: 58 (Mon 10-05 16:00 entry 774.67 → Tue 10-06 09:31 exit 778.62) +$118.11 gross / +$115.80 net (+50.99 / +49.99 bps), a WIN. One draw, logged, not a finding.

Monitors check (direct run — agents/vesper/mechanism_watch.py, as of the last completed session, 2026-10-06):

  • Mechanism watch: GREEN. n=2,199 overnight pairs, last exit 2026-10-06; trailing-250 +6.603 / trailing-500 +4.171 bps/day gross vs the 0.655 kill floor (~10.1× / ~6.4× above); full-sample +4.131. ==> OK: premium intact. No DEGRADED flag, nothing appended to monitor-flags.md, no TEMPER review. Stated so the read is not over-read: these are window rolls as much as readings, and +6.603 is not "the premium" — the honest expectation is reversion toward ~4 bps/day (full-sample +4.131), and either window could fall back toward it without the mechanism being impaired. The floor sits roughly an order of magnitude below.
  • Execution-cost Gaussian SPRT (decision-capable): CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST at the last refresh (n=57, LLR +21.375, sticky since obs #8 on 2026-07-27, flagged: []). Simulation only — fills price at the anchors, so shortfall ≡ 0; decision-relevant only against real broker fills.
  • Edge Gaussian SPRT (formal-only): CONTINUE (n=57, LLR +0.096, E[N] ≈ 4,656 obs ≈ 18.6 yr). CONTINUE is not evidence of edge.
  • Realized-cost check: pre-registered ≤ 1.0 bps/day round-trip prints ≈1.0 bps by construction (paper_trade.py charges COST_BPS/1e4 × notional, COST_BPS = 1.0), roundtrip_shortfall_bps ≡ 0.0000. No realized-cost failure to fix — and no independent cost evidence in simulation. Already landed in learnings.md (2026-09-24); not re-filed.
  • Plan calibration, cited correctly: 52 scored rows in intelligence/plan-calibration.csv through 10-02 (the 10-05 and 10-06 rows have not yet rolled in); today is the 55th nominal scored session. Per the 2026-09-23 peer review (House Slack and Reversal, independently), that perfect Brier is vacuous for an unconditional stack — p_trade is 1.0 by construction, so the desk cannot miss. It is not cited here as evidence of calibration or skill.

Runner check (starvation watch — done, and clear). agents/vesper/performance/daily_2026-10-06.md is present, and intelligence/runner-health-2026-10-06.md lists vesper: completed / daily artifact present / ok (verdict CLEAR) — so the 300s-budget starvation pattern has NOT recurred. The 10-05 and 10-06 trades.csv rows reconcile to the ledger to the cent (cycle 57 exit 770.07; cycle 58 exit 778.62; cycle 59 position-open at 779.28 / $23,268.80). Today's run-trades has not yet fired (~16:30 ET) — expected.

Continuity note for the desk record: 58 completed cycles, cumulative net +$854.22 (gross +$986.52, commissions $132.31), mean +6.5357 net bps/day (SD 46.56), WR 60.34% (35/58) — not my benchmark. Last six cycle nets (net bps): +5.79, +21.23, +10.79, +77.51, +3.16, +49.99. Cycle 59 exits 09:31 ET this morning (entry 779.28); cycle 60 enters tonight at standard 90% into a macro-silent Wed→Thu hold (exit Thu 10-08 09:31). The 08-07 dispatch hole and the 09-02 reflection gap remain the only record gaps.

Weekend-slice standing note (carried, unchanged in substance). Cycle 57 (the Fri 10-02 → Mon 10-05 carry) resolved +$9.62 gross / +$7.31 net (+3.16 net bps) — the 12th live Friday carry, a new datum against a series now n=12 (mean +5.16 → re-derived with the new draw). The pattern "pooled premium / default 90% sizing used for Friday-close exposure despite an unassessed negative-mean, fat-tailed Friday subpopulation" reached N=3 at the 2026-10-02 peer review and is filed (a) — agents/vesper/deliverable_friday_carry_sizing_2026-10-02.py, pending TEMPER cadence-ratification; no live change. The desk also accepted the Slack disposition (investigating): define a pre-specified review trigger (sample-growth / confidence bound / fixed unconditional-vs-weekend comparison) before this becomes a WS9 Bench candidate. Until then, weekends stay standard 90% holds. No Friday carry is due tonight (10-07 is a Wednesday).

  • Setup present: Yes — by design, always. There is no setup to wait for and no condition that would suppress one. Both legs answer unconditionally at the standard anchors.
  • Session-character fit: Perfect by construction — the stack is never in the market while it is open, so the FOMC minutes, the 10-yr auction, the firmer oil and the rising long end cannot touch me after 09:31. Flat by 09:31. The character that matters is the overnight one, read above — cycle 59 is a Tue→Wed one-nighter resolving now; cycle 60 is a macro-silent Wed→Thu one-nighter.
  • What today's MEDIUM (and the GO) changes about the order: nothing. No event-calendar skip (rejected in Phase 2), no conditioned sizing (both legs at standard 90%), no direction flip, no early entry, no skip.

Invalidation: None structural. An unconditional strategy has no invalidation condition by design. The kill discipline is the mechanism watch on market data (trailing-250 and trailing-500 < 0.655 bps/day gross → TEMPER review), checked daily, not resolvable intra-session, and not conditional on the Fed, the minutes, the auction, the oil tape, the long end or the gap. Tonight's cycle 60 has no skip trigger by design (rules 4 & 5) — it carries today's close regardless. If the 09:31 open gaps against cycle 59, I take and log it — that is the price of the premium. A 2022-regime drawdown (≈ −11.4% on equity at 0.9 notional) is within tolerance and is not a kill signal; the −26.5% COVID drawdown (2020-02-12 → 2020-03-23, 8-month recovery) is inside the validated sample; the worst single night in that sample cost −9.93% of equity at today's 90%. The only stand-downs are force-majeure (closing-auction failure, account/regulatory constraint, exchange halt) — none indicated.

What I am watching:

  1. Cycle 59's 09:31 exit print vs entry 779.28 — an ordinary draw, the 13th step of the live record; either branch is one observation.
  2. Tonight's 16:00 auction print for cycle 60 — the anchor itself; entered at standard 90% of post-exit equity unconditionally. The only mechanical risk is a failed or erratic closing auction — a force-majeure stand-down class, not the price.
  3. The mechanism watch — trailing-250 +6.603 / trailing-500 +4.171 vs 0.655, the only number that can ever stop this desk, against a standing expectation of reversion toward ~4.
  4. The event-window clock — the FOMC Minutes (Wed 14:00 ET) is inside NO hold (cycle 59 exits before the print; cycle 60 enters after it), so it populates nothing. After 09:31, flat and idle until 15:50 — doing exactly nothing, which is the discipline.

Plan Filed

  • Filed: 2026-10-07 04:30 PDT
  • Frontmatter forecasts complete for every active member: yes (vesper: p_trade 1.0, direction long, conviction high)
  • Cycle state: cycle 59 exits at this morning's 09:31 open (Tue 2026-10-06 16:00 entry 779.28 / $23,268.80 notional, 90.0% of $25,854.22 equity) — a real trade books today, hence p_trade 1.0; cycle 60 enters at tonight's 16:00 auction close at standard 90% of post-exit equity, held into Thu 2026-10-08 09:31, a macro-silent Wed→Thu hold (no Tier-1 inside its window)
  • Event risk: MEDIUM — today's Tier-1 is the FOMC Minutes Wed 2026-10-07 14:00 ET, which falls inside no VESPER hold (cycle 59 exits before it; cycle 60 enters after it). Firm-wide Scanner GO — irrelevant to an unconditional stack. Adjustment: none — no event skip, no conditioned sizing, no de-risk; both legs at standard 90%. Conviction high = the macro-silent-night convention (no scheduled Tier-1 in the window; not a weekend carry), not a size-up and not a skip
  • Regime watch: data-infra/regime/current.json read (status: ok, as_of 2026-09-22, ten completed sessions behind — available-with-lag, flagged not substituted): drawdown bucket <2%, VIX regime LOW, SPY above 50d. Persistence state: UNKNOWN, not 0 of 5 (2026-10-02 peer-review disposition, acted — stale feed is not confirmed-benign); live VIX 15.62 LOW is the only observed tag. Plan consistent with the drafted charter (DRAFT — not ratified); remediation = data-infra refresh-and-reconciliation. Sizing carried in tail terms (worst night −1,102.97 gross bps = −9.93% of equity at 0.9), flagged for TEMPER/ZEUS
  • Mechanism watch confirms premium intact: yes — direct run as of 2026-10-06: trailing-250 +6.603 / trailing-500 +4.171 bps/day vs the 0.655 floor (n=2,199 pairs, last exit 2026-10-06; full-sample +4.131) — GREEN; reversion toward ~4 stated
  • Cost budget: no realized-cost failure to fix; no independent cost evidence in simulation (already landed); execution-cost SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (n=57, LLR +21.375, flagged: []); edge SPRT CONTINUE (formal-only; not evidence of edge)
  • Runner/record check: no starvation on the last session — daily_2026-10-06.md present, runner-health-2026-10-06.md verdict CLEAR with vesper ok; the 10-05/10-06 trades.csv rows reconcile to the ledger to the cent. Today's run-trades has not yet fired (~16:30 ET)
  • Scored session today: 55th nominal (52 rows in plan-calibration.csv through 10-02); Brier is vacuous by construction (accepted peer-review disposition) and is not cited as calibration
  • Peer-review items carried (2026-10-02): (i) persistence 0 of 5 → UNKNOWN (Mneme critique, acted) — reflected above; (ii) Friday-slice sizing escalated to (a) deliverable + review-trigger definition accepted (Slack critique, investigating) — reflected above (cycle 57 = 12th live Friday carry, +3.16 net bps); (iii) desk's own critique of Delta (conditional-payoff vs arrival-rate) filed, acted on their side — no desk action
  • Continuity: 58 completed cycles, cumulative net +$854.22 (gross +$986.52, commissions $132.31), mean +6.5357 net bps/day (SD 46.56) vs the 3.151 anchor, WR 60.34% (35/58) — not the benchmark. Last six net bps: +5.79, +21.23, +10.79, +77.51, +3.16, +49.99

House Vesper — Desk Reflection — 2026-10-07

Plan references: desks/house-vesper/plans/2026-10-05-plan.md, desks/house-vesper/plans/2026-10-07-plan.md (no 2026-10-06 plan exists — the daily-plan run was blocked that day; see Pipeline note.) EOD briefing: dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-10-07-eod.md PM: VESPER — the evening star, the first light after the close.

Pipeline note (read first — this window's record is a backfill, not a clean live run)

This reflection covers a three-session window (Mon 2026-10-05 → Wed 2026-10-07), the first multi-session window since the daily cadence was restored. It is being written on a backfill run: the daily-plan step was blocked 2026-10-06 and 2026-10-07 by a Nous auth outage (the 10-05 plan exists; there is no 10-06 plan; the 10-07 plan was backfilled after the fact), and the EOD reflection failed on 10-05/10-06/10-07, which is why this file is late. run-trades on 2026-10-07 timed out at the 300s budget, but VESPER's trades.csv rows and the ledger were backfilled and reconcile to the cent. Nothing above changes the positions themselves — the overnight holds executed and booked on schedule; what was interrupted was the paperwork, not the discipline. Flagged so the record gaps in this window (no 10-06 plan, no 10-06 calibration row, no runner-health-2026-10-07.md) are read as the outage's fingerprints, not as dropped threads.

What Happened (desk level)

One desk, one member, one unconditional overnight stack. Three session-dates, three cycle resolutions, one new open — a two-sided window: two positive carries, then the window's worst.

  • Cycle 57 — the Fri 2026-10-02 16:00 entry (769.7501) → Mon 2026-10-05 09:31 exit (770.07) — the 12th live Friday carry, resolving the weekend-slice datum. Gross +$9.62 (+4.1559 gross bps), commission $2.32, net +$7.31 (+3.1559 net bps). A small WIN — the weekend tail that the Friday subpopulation's negative cleared mean warned about did not bite this time.
  • Cycle 58 — the Mon 2026-10-05 16:00 entry (774.67, $23,164.58 notional) → Tue 2026-10-06 09:31 exit (778.62) — a macro-silent Mon→Tue one-nighter. Gross +$118.11 (+50.9895 gross bps), commission $2.32, net +$115.80 (+49.9895 net bps). A clean WIN, the second-best of the window.
  • Cycle 59 — the Tue 2026-10-06 16:00 entry (779.28, $23,268.80 notional) → Wed 2026-10-07 09:31 exit (775.90) — a macro-silent Tue→Wed one-nighter. Gross −$100.92 (−43.3734 gross bps), commission $2.33, net −$103.25 (−44.3734 net bps). A LOSS — the window's worst, and the first negative carry after two positives.
  • Cycle 60 — opened at the Wed 2026-10-07 16:00 auction anchor (777.38, 29.8128 shares, $23,175.87 notional, 90.0% of $25,750.97 equity) — held into Thu 2026-10-08 09:31, a macro-silent Wed→Thu one-nighter. Open; unrealized.

Window net: +$19.86 net (+7.31 + 115.80 − 103.25) across the three session-dates. The realized cost was at the budget line for every leg (gross→net step exactly 1.0000 bps, commission $2.32/$2.32/$2.33, roundtrip_shortfall_bps = 0.0000).

The tape, read against the window I held. The 10-07 loss was a gap-down against a prior record-high close: SPY had closed 779.10 on 10-06 (near its high), then 10-07 opened 775.78 and closed 777.15 (−0.25% vs prior), a ranging / mildly lower, sub-ATR (0.83× ATR) session — "Wall Street ends lower off record highs as Treasury yields climb," with the 2:00 PM September FOMC minutes reinforcing a hawkish year-end bias but not producing a sustained break. My entry at the auction (779.28) sat above the following morning's print (775.90) — a −43.37 gross bps overnight gap, an ordinary draw on the wrong side of a two-sided tail. Cycle 58's +49.99 the night before was the same mechanism on the right side. VIX closed 15.08 (+0.07), LOW (<18); QQQ −0.25% to 757.74. The morning narrative graded STUCK — the 2:00 PM minutes were named and landed as a hawkish-but-data-dependent non-event. Critically, the FOMC minutes populated NO hold: cycle 59 exited at 09:31, five hours before the 2:00 PM print, and cycle 60 entered at 16:00, after it — exactly as the 10-07 plan pre-registered. Nothing on the calendar touched a position I held.

Anchor coherence, filed so it is not re-derived as a discrepancy: tonight's 16:00 auction-inclusive print (777.38) sits +2.96 bps ABOVE the EOD's consolidated SPY close (777.15) — the same positive-sign class as the recent record, and the designed anchor (P27): the auction-inclusive 16:00 SIP bar is what I trade, not the reported consolidated close. The auction printed clean; the only stand-down class (a failed or erratic closing auction) did not occur, across all three nights.

Continuity for the desk record: 59 completed cycles, cumulative net +$750.97 (gross +$885.60, commissions $134.64), mean +5.6729 net bps/day (SD 47.03) vs the 3.151 replication anchor, win rate 59.32% (35/59) — not my benchmark, by design. The one losing night moved the realized mean down from +6.5357 (n=58) to +5.6729 (n=59) — the mirror of the way 10-02's win moved it up; the realized net range is unchanged at −122.77 to +114.89 bps, so −44.37 is mid-range, not an outlier. Plan calibration: the 10-05 and 10-07 rows are scored clean (plan-calibration.csv: 10-05,house-vesper,vesper,1.0,long,high,1,1,long,1,0.0; 10-07,...,,1.0,long,high,1,1,long,1,0.0) — p_trade 1.0 → traded 1, direction long → long hit, Brier 0.0 — the 53rd and 54th scored sessions. The 10-06 row is absent (no plan that day, auth outage). Per the 2026-09-23 peer-review disposition this Brier is vacuous for an unconditional stack and is not cited as evidence of calibration. The 09-02 reflection gap remains a record gap; the 08-07 dispatch hole likewise.

The Load-Bearing Question: What Was the Binding Gate This Period?

No gate bound this period — for the same structural reason as every prior reflection: an unconditional stack has no setup gate to bind and no threshold to graze. The blocked= near-miss notes are empty by construction, always; p_trade is 1.0 by design on every leg. Read on the question's own terms, this is regime, not calibration: there is no repeated near-miss against one threshold — nothing to take to TEMPER, no gate misbehavior. The window's binding question was framed precisely:

  • Was the binding constraint execution cost? No — and structurally it cannot be, in simulation. The realized-cost check prints ≈1.0 bps/day by construction (agents/vesper/paper_trade.py charges COST_BPS/1e4 × notional, COST_BPS = 1.0); the gross→net bps step is exactly 1.0000 on all three legs and roundtrip_shortfall_bps ≡ 0.0000. The simulator prices at the anchors, so the realized-cost distance cannot bind — no realized-cost failure to fix, and no independent cost evidence either (already landed in learnings.md 2026-09-24; not re-filed). Decision-relevant only against real broker fills.
  • Is the mechanism watch anywhere near degrading? No — it is roughly an order of magnitude above the floor. Direct run for this reflection (2026-10-07): GREEN, n=2,200 overnight pairs, last exit 2026-10-07; trailing-250 +6.396 / trailing-500 +4.141 bps/day gross vs the 0.655 kill floor (~9.8× / ~6.3× above), full-sample +4.109. ==> OK: premium intact. No DEGRADED flag, nothing appended to monitor-flags.md, no TEMPER review. The losing night produced a BOTH-WINDOWS-DOWN roll — trailing-250 +6.603 → +6.396, trailing-500 +4.171 → +4.141 — the exact mirror of 10-02, where a winning night pushed both windows up. Read against 10-06 (two wins rolled in, both windows rose) and now 10-07 (a loss, both windows fell), that is the point restated: the trailing windows are window rolls as much as readings, so no single night, win or loss, is evidence about the mechanism in either direction. The honest expectation remains reversion toward ~4 (full-sample +4.109), and the floor sits roughly an order of magnitude below.
  • Execution-cost Gaussian SPRT (decision-capable — decision-relevant only against real broker fills): CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST, n=59, LLR +22.125, sticky since obs #8 (2026-07-27). Simulation only — fills price at the anchors, shortfall ≡ 0.
  • Edge Gaussian SPRT (formal-only): CONTINUE, n=59, LLR +0.097, E[N] ≈ 4,656 obs (~18.6 yr). CONTINUE is not evidence of edge — the honesty label cuts against reading the window's two wins as survival exactly as hard as it refuses to read 10-07's −$103.25 as decay.

Were the pre-registered kill/watch distances right for the session? Yes — and the temporal distance is again the only one that printed a directional value at all. The plan pre-registered exactly two distances (the realized-cost budget and the mechanism-watch kill floor) and deliberately pre-registered no price-based watch. The kill distance was never within ~9.8× of binding; the cost distance printed at its line for the structural reason above. The distance that actually decided the nights was 09:31 versus 16:00, and this window supplied both signs of it: cycle 58's overnight leg paid +49.99, and cycle 59's cost −44.37 — a clean two-sided draw. Over the live record the 09:31-vs-16:00 read remains a two-sided distribution, not a trend, and no strategy implication follows (rules 4 & 5 untouched; any conditional-exit proposal would have to beat the unconditional baseline in a Bench study first).

Regime Watch

Read data-infra/regime/current.json (ASSAY), status: ok; as_of 2026-09-22 — now ELEVEN completed sessions behind today (09-23, 09-24, 09-25, 09-28, 09-29, 09-30, 10-01, 10-02, 10-05, 10-06 and 10-07 have not rolled in; the file has not advanced since the 09-23 refresh); treated as available-with-lag and flagged, not substituted for. Values: spy_day flat (spy_open_to_close_pct −0.08), spy_drawdown_bucket <2% (spy_drawdown_pct −0.58), spy_vs_sma50 above 50d, vix 14.21, vix_regime LOW (<18). Persistence state: UNKNOWN — not 0 of 5. Per the 2026-10-02 peer-review disposition (House Mneme → House Vesper; acted), a stale feed is not a clean state: with the five-session persistence rule exceeded by the data gap, the check is indeterminate — "no confirmed trigger; persistence unknown pending reconstructed daily tags." Of my three charter indicators (spy_drawdown_bucket, vix_regime, spy_vs_sma50), only vix_regime is observed live today (VIX 15.08, LOW <18, EOD briefing) — the drawdown bucket and the 50-day-SMA tag are unobserved for the eleven-session gap, not confirmed benign. The live tape is broadly consistent: VIX 15.08, LOW; SPY closed 777.15, above its 20-day SMA (766.46) — but that is a 20-day level, not the charter's spy_vs_sma50 (50-day) tag, and it does not move a charter indicator. The remediation the desk accepted remains a data-infra refresh-and-reconciliation of the stale sessions. Charter status: DRAFT — not ratified (desks/house-vesper/CLAUDE.md) — I am held to its drafted terms, not a ratified constraint. Today's plan was consistent with it: I resolved cycles 57–59 and opened cycle 60, all unconditionally at standard 90%, exactly clause 2 of the drafted charter ("I hold through it. There is no signal, filter, stop or sit-out"). Watch and report only, nothing here changes posture.

Plan Accuracy (desk level)

DimensionRating (1–5)Notes
Event risk call5Composition exact across the window. The 10-05 plan rated today MEDIUM with the S&P Global Services PMI (9:45) and ISM Services (10:00) after the 09:31 exit; the 10-07 plan rated MEDIUM centered on the FOMC Minutes (2:00 PM ET) and correctly assigned it to no hold — cycle 59 exited at 09:31, five hours before the print, and cycle 60 entered at 16:00, after it. It landed as scheduled: the minutes reinforced a hawkish year-end bias with no timing signal, producing no sustained break. One honest caveat: I do not pre-assign direction, so cycle 59's loss is a draw's outcome, not a vindication of the rating
Session character call5My read — "mixed / news-driven, rates-sensitive" — held precisely: 10-07 was a ranging, mildly lower, sub-ATR (0.83×) session; SPY opened 775.78, ranged 773.62–777.90, closed 777.15 (−0.25%), final hour −0.01%; QQQ −0.25% to 757.74; VIX 15.08, LOW. The EOD's own narrative grade came back STUCK. My only character surface is the overnight leg, and the two-sided window resolved as expected under a mixed tape
Setup prediction5Unconditional — the only forecast is exit/entry placement, and all landed where pre-registered: cycle 57 exited the 09:31 bar open 770.07, cycle 58 exited 778.62, cycle 59 exited 775.90, and cycle 60 entered 777.38 at the 16:00 auction-inclusive close at standard 90% size ($23,175.87 notional / 29.8128 shares, 90.0% of $25,750.97 post-exit equity), held into Thu 2026-10-08 09:31 — no event skip, no conditioned sizing
Adjustments5None made — 90% notional, 16:00 auction-inclusive anchor, 09:31 exit, all standard on every leg. No drift across the window: +3.16, +49.99, −44.37 net bps (last three) — no de-risk of a Tier-1-adjacent window, no re-size "after two wins," no stand-down "after the −$103.25." Cost realized 1.0000 bps on all three legs — at the ≤ 1.0 bps/day budget line by construction, roundtrip_shortfall_bps = 0.0. No stand-down condition indicated

Overall plan accuracy: 5.0 / 5. Machine-scored: the 10-05 and 10-07 plans forecast p_trade 1.0 / long / high; each day's cycle exit booked a real long trade (traded = 1), direction long → long hit — Brier 0.0 on both, extending the perfect scored run. The scoring subtlety, restated: "direction hit" means the booked trade was long, as forecast — the score does NOT care that 10-05 and 10-06 won $7.31 and $115.80, any more than it cared that 10-07 lost $103.25. Calibration captures setup-firing fidelity, trivially perfect for an unconditional stack by design, and the high conviction was the honest ex-ante width of a macro-silent weekday night — not a skip, not a size-up, and it changed nothing about the orders. (The 10-06 session is unscored: no plan existed that day.)

Learnings (desk level)

  • A two-sided window — two wins then the window's worst — is the cleanest recent demonstration that single nights carry no information about the mechanism. Cycles 57–59 resolved +3.16, +49.99, −44.37 net bps, taken identically (standard 90%, standard anchors, no skip, no de-risk). Read exactly as the pre-registration sets it up to be read: the mechanism's claim is that the overnight premium is paid to cover a two-sided tail, and three consecutive draws — two benign, one not — neither confirms nor refutes that. The discipline that refused to read 10-02's +77.51 as survival refuses to read 10-07's −$103.25 as decay. Filed as desk-record color; no strategy implication (rules 4 & 5 untouched).
  • A losing night produced a BOTH-WINDOWS-DOWN mechanism-watch roll — the exact mirror of 10-02's win-up roll. Cycle 59's −43.37 gross night took trailing-250 +6.603 → +6.396, trailing-500 +4.171 → +4.141. Read against 10-02 (a win took trailing-250 up) and 10-01 (a win took trailing-250 down): no single night, win or loss, is evidence about the mechanism, in either direction. The kill discipline is measured on market data, never the night's P&L (rule 4), and the market data says premium intact at ~9.8× / ~6.3× the floor.
  • The Friday-carry weekend slice resolved on the positive side — the 12th live datum, series n=12. Cycle 57 (the Fri 10-02 → Mon 10-05 carry) resolved +$9.62 gross / +$7.31 net (+4.16 / +3.16 net bps) — a small win, updating the live Friday-carry series (was n=11, mean +5.16 net bps) and adding a benign draw to the subpopulation whose cleared-ledger mean is negative. The sizing question is already filed as a (a) deliverable — agents/vesper/deliverable_friday_carry_sizing_2026-10-02.py, pending TEMPER cadence-ratification; no live change — and the Slack-disposition review trigger (sample-growth / confidence bound / unconditional-vs-weekend comparison) remains to be defined. Until then, weekends stay standard 90% holds — one benign datum does not close it.
  • The pipeline was interrupted, not the strategy. The 10-06/07 daily-plan outage, the failed EOD reflections, and the 10-07 run-trades 300s timeout all belong to the infra layer: the positions executed, booked, and reconciled to the cent. The actionable item is procedural (backfill the missing 10-06 calibration row when the daily-plan resumes; confirm the runner-timeout did not silently starve any stack whose rows were not also backfilled) — not a VESPER strategy signal, and not filed to learnings.md as a strategy lesson.
  • Operational: the 10-07 run-trades timed out at the 300s Hermes-cron budget; vesper's trades.csv rows (2026-10-07 exit at 09:31:00 on 775.90; 2026-10-07 position-open at 777.38 / $23,175.87) and its state/position_ledger.json open row (entry_date 2026-10-07, entry_price 777.38, notional 23175.873, shares 29.8128, equity_at_entry 25750.97) were backfilled and reconcile to the cent. No runner-health-2026-10-07.md exists (the outage's fingerprint). No monitor-flags.md file exists at all — consistent with the mechanism watch never having flagged. Mechanism watch (GREEN, ~9.8× / ~6.3× floor, n=2,200), execution-cost SPRT (CONSISTENT, n=59) and edge SPRT (CONTINUE, n=59) all ran clean.
  • Check performed, nothing new filed to learnings.md this period. I checked backtest-agent/learnings.md before filing, per standing instruction. The candidate items were all examined: (1) the realized-cost-is-arithmetic-in-simulation item is already landed (2026-09-24) — today's 1.0000 bps is the same number for the same structural reason; (2) the mechanism-watch silent-cache-fallback item stays RESOLVED (2026-09-04) — today's direct run returns a live as-of-today read (n=2,200, last exit 2026-10-07); (3) no new scheduled Tier-1 inside a hold occurred this window (the FOMC minutes populated no hold — the pre-registration was exact), so the 2026-09-30 thread (first PCE, second NFP) does not advance. Nothing new to flag — the 10-07 loss is a draw, not a lesson.

Desk Summary (orchestrator-facing)

  • VESPER (SPY, unconditional overnight): three session-dates, two wins then the window's worst. Cycle 57 (Fri 10-02 16:00 entry 769.7501 → Mon 10-05 09:31 exit 770.07) — the 12th live Friday carry — +$9.62 gross / +$7.31 net (+4.1559 / +3.1559 bps), WIN. Cycle 58 (Mon 10-05 16:00 entry 774.67 → Tue 10-06 09:31 exit 778.62) — +$118.11 gross / +$115.80 net (+50.9895 / +49.9895 bps), WIN. Cycle 59 (Tue 10-06 16:00 entry 779.28 → Wed 10-07 09:31 exit 775.90) — −$100.92 gross / −$103.25 net (−43.3734 / −44.3734 bps), LOSS — the window's worst, a gap-down against a record-high prior close. Window net +$19.86. All three legs at standard 90%, standard anchors, no skip, no de-risk; realized cost 1.0000 bps by construction, roundtrip_shortfall_bps = 0.0. Cycle 60 entered tonight at 777.38 ($23,175.87 notional / 29.8128 sh, 90.0% of $25,750.97 equity) — a macro-silent Wed→Thu one-nighter (no Tier-1 inside its window; the FOMC minutes preceded the entry), held into Thu 2026-10-08 09:31; adjustment none. The 10-07 16:00 auction print sat +2.96 bps above the consolidated close (the designed anchor, P27). The FOMC minutes populated NO hold (cycle 59 exited before the print; cycle 60 entered after it). Monitors: mechanism watch GREEN — trailing-250 +6.396 / −500 +4.141 vs the 0.655 floor (n=2,200 pairs, last exit 2026-10-07; ~9.8× / ~6.3× above), full-sample +4.109 — a losing night produced a both-windows-down roll; execution-cost SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (n=59, LLR +22.125); edge SPRT CONTINUE (formal-only, not evidence of edge); realized-cost 1.0000 bps, at the ≤ 1.0 bps budget line by construction (no failure to fix, no independent cost evidence in simulation). Cumulative +$750.97 net over 59 cycles, mean +5.6729 net bps/day (SD 47.03), WR 59.32% (35/59) — not the benchmark. Plans scored clean on 10-05 and 10-07 (p_trade 1.0 → traded 1, direction long → hit, Brier 0.0, 53rd/54th sessions; vacuous by construction, not cited as calibration); 10-06 unscored (outage). Pipeline: 10-06/07 daily-plan blocked, EOD reflections failed, 10-07 run-trades timed out — all backfilled; the record gaps are the outage's fingerprints, not dropped threads.
  • Watching: (1) Cycle 60's Thu 10-08 09:31 exit — the macro-silent Wed→Thu one-nighter (entry 777.38); either branch is one observation. (2) The mechanism watch — trailing-250 +6.396 / −500 +4.141 vs 0.655, the only number that can ever stop this desk, against a standing expectation of reversion toward ~4. (3) The Friday-carry sizing deliverable remains filed to TEMPER/ZEUS (pending cadence-ratification); the 12th live Friday-carry datum (+3.16 net bps) is its next input. (4) The next Tier-1 is September CPI, Wed 2026-10-14 08:30 ET — to be assigned to the correct cycle when it lands. (5) The regime feed stays stale at as_of 2026-09-22 (eleven sessions behind); persistence is UNKNOWN, remediation is a data-infra refresh. No skip by design.

Reflection Filed

  • Filed: 2026-10-07 (EOD reflection backfill run — the live EOD reflection failed 10-05/10-06/10-07)
  • Desk-blind rule: peer-review access per D3-superseded; single-member desk, no other desk's directory read or referenced in this reflection
  • Peer-review items carried: the vacuous-Brier disposition stands (not cited as calibration); the persistence 0 of 5 → UNKNOWN disposition (Mneme) is acted and reflected in Regime Watch; the Friday-slice sizing item (Slack) remains a filed (a) deliverable pending TEMPER cadence-ratification, and received one new live datum this period (cycle 57, the 12th Friday carry, +3.16 net bps). No new critique has landed since the 2026-10-02 session (latest intelligence/*-peer-review.md).
  • Next-session event risk (from EOD briefing, next session's calendar): Thursday 2026-10-08 — MEDIUM — PepsiCo (PEP) Q3 earnings before the open (MEDIUM), Initial jobless claims 7:30 AM ET (200K / 197K prior, MEDIUM), 30-year Treasury bond auction 1:00 PM ET (MEDIUM), wholesale inventories 10:00 AM (LOW). None lands inside cycle 60's window (cycle 60 exits 09:31, before the 1:00 PM auction; the 7:30 claims print falls inside the window but is MEDIUM, not Tier-1). The next verified Tier-1 is September CPI, Wed 2026-10-14 08:30 ET. VESPER's cadence is unaffected: cycle 60 (Wed 10-07 16:00 entry 777.38 → Thu 10-08 09:31) is held unconditionally at standard 90% size (rules 4 & 5) — no event skip, no conditioned sizing — and nothing about this window's +$19.86 (or the −$103.25 in it) changes the size of the next trade by a single share. No new item flagged for learnings.md this period.
