Desk Plan — Reversal — 2026-10-05

Briefing reference: /Users/dadbot/Desktop/ClaudeBod/projects/dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-10-05-pm.md PM: Wicker (persona; own stack retired 2026-07-14 — this plan covers active members Null + Meridian only)

Regime Watch

Regime watch: data-infra/regime/current.json reads as_of 2026-09-22 — status ok: vix_regime LOW (<18, VIX 14.21), spy_drawdown_bucket <2% (−0.58%), spy_vs_sma50 above 50d, spy_day flat, spy_open_to_close_pct −0.08. The file is now nine sessions stale — it contains nothing from 09-23 through 10-02, nor today — so it is reported as read and treated as directional only.

Persistence check — indeterminate, not passed (per the 2026-10-02 peer review, House Slack → Reversal and House Vesper → Reversal, both acted). Nine stale sessions is well past the charter's five-consecutive-session persistence window, so the stale file cannot support either "all shared tags are baseline" or "no persistent shift." I separate the two claims the reviewers asked me to separate: (1) verified live print — the briefing's VIX 16.30 (+0.99 vs prior close 15.31), still LOW (<18) — that single tag is observed and LOW; (2) unverified tags — spy_drawdown_bucket and spy_vs_sma50 are not supported by any dated input since 09-22 and are marked unknown. The five-session persistence test is therefore indeterminate/unknown, not a clean pass. Remediation requested (reporting only, no gate): a data-infra refresh and reconciliation of VIX, SPY drawdown and 50-day-SMA tags from 2026-09-23 onward, so the charter's persistence rule can be evaluated on real observations rather than a stale read. No automatic gate, size or parameter change follows from any of this.

Charter consistency (against the DRAFT direction — ## Regime Charter reads DRAFT — not ratified): the one observed tag (VIX LOW) sits at the charter's baseline, and today's plan is consistent with the drafted clauses — intraday only, no overnight hold, no regime-keyed sit-out invented for either member (neither carries one). The unverified tags cannot be asserted as baseline; no Desk Review proposal is triggered. Observation, not a signal: QQQ closed +2.98% above its 20-day SMA (749.49 vs 727.77) and SPY +0.63% above (769.65 vs 764.83) — the stretched up-trending state that produced both members' refusals across 09-29/10-01. 20d ≠ 50d, so this is not the spy_vs_sma50 tag moving.

Shared Market Read

  • Event risk today: MEDIUM — and the firm's calendar rule leaves the book open. The deterministic Tier-1 calendar flags no Tier-1 event today; the next is FOMC Minutes Wed 10-07, 2:00 PM ET (an event window, not a firm-wide hard skip). Today's main scheduled catalyst is ISM Services PMI (Sep) at 10:00 AM ET (consensus 55.4 / prior 55.7), plus S&P Global Services & Composite PMI Final (Sep) at 9:45 AM ET (58.4 / 58.4). No major S&P 500 reporter today (LEVI is Oct 7). Firm-wide trade status: GO (Scanner watchlist) — no Tier-1 hard skip and prior VIX 15.31 well below the 30 threshold.
  • Session character expected: mixed and potentially news-driven around the 10:00 ISM print — the briefing reads the overnight tape as rates-sensitive with no strong directional confirmation, and says opening structure may be tentative beforehand while the 10:00 release is the clearest scheduled volatility window. Index futures were modestly lower at ~7:03 ET (S&P −0.15%, Nasdaq-100 −0.23%). Pre-market prints in the thin IEX feed are none — confirm the gap at the cash open; do not infer it.
  • VIX regime: 16.30 (LOW, <18), +0.99 vs prior close 15.31 — the cohort in which both members' backtested edge is concentrated (Null backtest WR 80.1% in <18). No VIX gate on either stack; context note only, not a signal.
  • Key levels:
  • QQQ: prior close 749.49 (Null's gap-fill target), prior-day range 747.63 – 754.51 (range 6.88, 0.71× ATR — a contained day), prior high 754.51 (Meridian's sweep level, +0.67% above the prior close), prior low 747.63, 20-day SMA 727.77 (price +2.98% above), ATR(14) 9.70.
  • SPY: prior close 769.65, prior-day range 767.16 – 772.65 (range 5.49, 0.77× ATR), prior high 772.65 (+0.39% above the prior close), 20-day SMA 764.83 (price +0.63% above), ATR(14) 7.12.
  • IWM: no briefing block — Meridian's IWM leg is unpriced pre-open; the engine's own precheck governs it at the open.
  • Null's gap bands off ATR 9.70 / prior close 749.49 (0.10× = 0.970 → 0.129%; 0.30× = 2.910 → 0.388%; 0.70× = 6.790 → 0.906%): gap-down LONG zone [742.70, 748.52]; sub-floor block (748.52, 749.49); tiny gap-up SHORT zone [749.49, 752.40]; gap-up ≥0.30× refused by the trend filter [752.40, 756.28]; oversize ≤742.70 or ≥756.28.
  • Macro backdrop (one sentence): the market opens the week weighing Friday's soft jobs report (which cut near-term Fed-hike expectations) against still-elevated long-end yields, with no directional resolution from overnight futures — so the desk's setups hinge on the 10:00 ISM print and on which side of their prior levels the tape opens.

Null — QQQ (gap fade / FVG; MNQ proxy, gap measured at the cash open)

Setup present: PLAUSIBLE — p_trade 0.35, direction long, conviction MED. For the first time in several sessions the aligned path is live: QQQ sits +2.98% above its 20-day SMA, so cleared rule 3 permits a gap-down long fade (the aligned side), and overnight futures are modestly lower (Nasdaq-100 −0.23% ≈ a ~0.18× ATR gap-down on QQQ) — i.e. the modal open lands inside the cleared [0.10, 0.70] band on the down side. That is the exact cohort that has fired most of Null's live book (gap-down above SMA20 is 3 wins / 1 loss: 08-06, 08-20, 08-28 wins, 09-28 loss). The up-side path is the exception only: a tiny gap-up <0.30× ATR in [749.49, 752.40] would be an eligible SHORT; a gap-up ≥0.30× is refused by the trend filter — the path the desk over-priced on 09-29 (0.42) and 10-01 (0.32), and which I am deliberately not re-pricing high today.

Sizing vs event risk: standard — 1 MNQ, 0.5% risk, one position at a time, 11:00 ET hard exit. No change to any cleared parameter. The 10:00 ISM print lands inside the 9:30–10:30 entry window; it is a volatility input, not a gate, so it does not alter size or the cleared stop (beyond the FVG extreme + 0.25× ATR(1m), capped at 1.5× ATR(1m)). If the open drive and a ≥50% single-candle retrace arm, the mechanism takes its cleared setup at standard size.

Key levels: QQQ prior close 749.49 (fill target), prior high 754.51, prior low 747.63, SMA20 727.77 (the filter that decides eligibility — price +2.98% above, so the aligned side is the down fade), ATR(14) 9.70. Live zones: gap-down LONG [742.70, 748.52] ∪ tiny gap-up SHORT [749.49, 752.40]; sub-floor block (748.52, 749.49); refused gap-up [752.40, 756.28]; oversize ≤742.70 or ≥756.28.

Invalidation / stand-down: cleared stand-downs unchanged — sub-floor gap (open within 0.13% of 749.49), oversize gap (≤742.70 or ≥756.28), a refused with-trend gap-up ≥0.30×, a one-way tape that gives no open drive / no ≥50% retrace (the 09-24 max_retrace_ratio=0.00 shape), or the unmeasurable pre-market-volume rule. A gap-down that opens and runs (the 09-28 failure) is the live risk; it is a cleared-parameter path, not a sit-out.

The specific thing I am watching (not filler): whether the tape finally opens down into the aligned band — the path that has been structurally absent for four sessions — or keeps gapping up into the refused band. If it opens down in [742.70, 748.52] and the pattern gate arms, this is the mechanism taking its cleared setup; if it opens up ≥0.30×, the trend filter refuses it and the honest price was the one I put on the aligned path, not the refused one.

Mechanism health (read-only): SPRT CONTINUE — n=17 W15/L2, LLR +2.168, cumulative +$1,898.25 net / +$1,906.75 gross, WR 88.2%, 0.777 from the CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST boundary (unchanged since 09-28). First-loss watch N=2 — 09-03 and 09-28 share one mechanism-level shape (a counter-trend fade against a one-way session drive, stopped inside 15 minutes, both LOW-VIX). Desk tripwire is N ≥ 3 → a filter/stop question to TEMPER, as a question. Armed, not triggered. Sub-floor compression cluster N=4 (0.081 / 0.053 / 0.045 / 0.038 since 09-01). No gate or parameter touched.

Null — p_trade-bucket calibration table (DELTA's ask; through 10-02): the 0.30–0.39 bucket has realised ~0.25 against a nominal ~0.35, and the desk's documented over-price has been on the refused gap-up path (09-29 0.42, 10-01 0.32 — a forecast-construction finding carried to TEMPER, not a gate). Today's 0.35 is built as P(qualifying gap) ≈ 0.45 × P(pattern | qualifying gap) ≈ 0.77 ≈ 0.35, and — unlike 09-29/10-01 — it prices the aligned down-side path, not the refused up-side one.

Meridian — QQQ/SPY/IWM (kill-zone prior-high sweep + RSI(2) ≥ 88, bearish only)

Setup present: UNLIKELY — p_trade 0.08, direction short, conviction LOW. No Tier-1 event closes the session, so the full precheck stack runs — but the conjunction this mechanism needs is absent on the geometry. QQQ's prior high 754.51 sits +0.67% above the prior close and, on a slightly-lower pre-market bias, roughly 0.9–1.4% above the expected open; SPY's 772.65 sits +0.39% above 769.65. A sweep needs price to rally into those levels and spike through then close back below in the same 5-min bar with RSI(2) ≥ 88 — and the exhaustion filter is 0-for-12 live (closest IWM 84.2, 09-21). The desk's own reachability record is N=4 of "band inside, level within reach, no_sweep binds" (09-24 QQQ, 09-28 SPY, 09-29 SPY 0.35%, 10-01 QQQ 0.177% — closest in record). On a mixed, slightly-lower open the tape points away from the levels, so no_sweep is the modal outcome. The one upside path: an ISM-driven rally that stalls — a fast move that fails to broaden is exactly the sweep-and-fail shape — so I price above the raw base rate but well below the desk's historical mean p.

Sizing vs event risk: standard — $250/leg, caps 10 MNQ / 5 MES / 5 M2K, 2-loss daily cap, hard close 11:30 ET; the same-sign stop guard voids any malformed stop (live since 2026-08-20). No change to any cleared parameter. The 10:00 ISM print lands inside the kill zone; it is not a gate.

Key levels: QQQ prior high 754.51 (sweep level, +0.67% above prior close 749.49); SPY prior high 772.65 (+0.39% above 769.65); IWM unavailable. ADX band 18–32. Volatility precheck (reads yesterday's range): QQQ prior range 6.88 vs a ceiling ≈ 9.2–9.4 (1.25 × the recent ~7.4 avg range) → passes comfortably (~0.73×); SPY prior range 5.49 vs ceiling ≈ 6.6 (1.25 × ~5.3) → passes (~0.83×) — so both priced legs likely clear the volatility gate, and on a live day the binding gates would be ADX and the sweep/exhaustion stack. ATR(14) daily QQQ 9.70 / SPY 7.12 → the stop is the engine's own 2.0× ATR(5m) beyond the swept wick.

Invalidation / stand-down: no_sweep (no leg tags and closes back below its prior high) — the modal outcome given a tape opening away from the levels; adx_precheck outside 18–32; volatility if either prior range exceeds its ceiling; the 2-loss daily cap; the 11:30 ET hard close. I do not touch the RSI(2) ≥ 88 line or the 18 floor: cleared-parameter territory, only TEMPER can move them.

The specific thing I am watching (not filler): whether an ISM-driven upside spike into QQQ 754.51 / SPY 772.65 stalls — the sweep shape — or the tape simply drifts lower and never approaches the levels (no_sweep, the recent modal). And, if a leg does tag, whether RSI(2) finally prints ≥ 88 (0-for-12 live; the deepest binder in the stack).

Mechanism health (read-only): SPRT CONTINUE — n=3 W2/L1, LLR +0.222, cumulative +$385.22, WR 66.7%; spy_leg n=1 WR 100%; iwm_leg n=0 (honest live anchor ~56%, not the 73.3% headline). No tweak proposed.

Meridian — reachability/ADX-floor question (carried, N=4, named not generalised). The shape "ADX band inside, level within a short reach, no_sweep binds" stands at N=4; on both 09-29 and 10-01 the floor was open on the leg that reached the sweep stack and no_sweep still bound, so the desk's read (stated, not acted on) is that the constraint sits downstream of the band — the sweep definition plus RSI(2) ≥ 88. Carried to TEMPER as a question; no parameter touched.

Plan Filed

  • Filed: 2026-10-05 (pre-market, 04:35 PT / 07:35 ET)
  • Frontmatter forecasts complete for active members only (Null, Meridian): yes. Wicker (PM): strategy retired 2026-07-14 (WS2c Tier-2 NO-GO) — no plan, no forecast, no per-member file; persona continues desk oversight only.
  • Firm-wide GO; event risk MEDIUM (ISM Services PMI 10:00 ET; S&P Global final PMIs 9:45 ET; next Tier-1 FOMC Minutes 10-07). No Tier-1 gate fires today, so both members' full precheck stacks run. Null p_trade 0.35 / direction long / conviction med; Meridian p_trade 0.08 / direction short / conviction low.
  • Base-case desk outcome: Null is the live one today — a slightly-lower open puts a qualifying gap-down long fade in play, and it takes its cleared setup at standard size if the pattern gate arms. Meridian is unlikely to fire — the tape opens away from its prior highs and the exhaustion filter is 0-for-12.
  • One thing I am watching, both stacks: the side of the prior levels the tape opens on. For Null: does QQQ open down into [742.70, 748.52] (the aligned path, absent for four sessions) or keep gapping up into the refused band — and does the 10:00 ISM print give a clean drive + ≥50% retrace or a one-way whipsaw. For Meridian: does an ISM-driven upside spike stall into QQQ 754.51 / SPY 772.65 (a sweep candidate), or does the tape drift lower and log no_sweep — and would a tag finally print RSI(2) ≥ 88 (0-for-12 live).
  • Peer-review carry-in (2026-10-02, Reversal's own items all acted): (a) the stale-feed regime state is reported as persistence indeterminate/unknown with the verified VIX print separated from the unverified drawdown/50d-SMA tags, and a data-infra refresh requested — no "baseline" claim from stale data; (b) charter status said as draft direction, DRAFT — not ratified; (c) Null's p_trade over-pricing on the refused gap-up path is carried as a forecast-construction TEMPER question (N=2 in-window), and today's price is on the aligned down-side path; (d) Meridian's reachability shape is stated at N=4 with its count and not generalised; (e) no miss is filed as "REGIME" without its N.
  • Reconfirmation ledger: no open item gates today. Meridian IWM expansion CLOSED 2026-08-20 (strategy_v7.md); standing ~6-month decay re-backtest next due ~2027-02-20. Wicker's feed/session re-run remains the desk's highest-priority open reconfirmation (own stack retired, not a today blocker).
  • Regime watch line: data-infra/regime/current.json — as_of 2026-09-22 (nine sessions stale; directional only) — vix_regime LOW (<18); spy_drawdown_bucket and spy_vs_sma50 unverified/unknown; persistence check indeterminate; consistent with the DRAFT Regime Charter; no Desk Review proposal; refresh requested.
  • Method note (transparency, no execution impact): every pre-session number that matters is the engine's own precheck at the open. The gap zones, volatility ceilings and band arithmetic here are my own off the briefing's authoritative prices (ATR 9.70 / prior close 749.49); IWM is marked unavailable. Nothing here touches execution; no member's gate stack was read from or written to.
