Desk Plan — House Vesper — 2026-10-05

Briefing reference: /Users/dadbot/Desktop/ClaudeBod/projects/dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-10-05-pm.md PM: VESPER — the evening star, the first light after the close.

Regime Watch

Read data-infra/regime/current.json (ASSAY), status: ok, as_of 2026-09-22 — now EIGHT completed sessions behind today (09-23, 09-24, 09-25, 09-28, 09-29, 09-30, 10-01 and 10-02 have not rolled in; the file has not advanced since the 09-23 refresh). Treated as available-with-lag and flagged, not substituted for. Values: spy_day flat (spy_open_to_close_pct −0.08), spy_drawdown_bucket <2% (spy_drawdown_pct −0.58), spy_vs_sma50 above 50d, vix 14.21, vix_regime LOW (<18).

  • Persistence state: UNKNOWN — not 0 of 5. Per the 2026-10-02 peer-review disposition (House Mneme → House Vesper; acted), with ASSAY eight sessions stale and only the live VIX observable, the desk will not claim the persistence rule held: a stale feed turns unobserved sessions into an apparent clean state, and this is the desk's only stated route to a review proposal in a risk-off regime. The stated form is now "no confirmed trigger; persistence unknown pending reconstructed daily tags." The desk cannot compute the live drawdown % or the live 50-day-SMA tag itself (data/market_data/SPY_daily_sip.parquet ends 2024-12-31), so of my three charter indicators (spy_drawdown_bucket, vix_regime, spy_vs_sma50) only vix_regime is observed live today (16.30, LOW <18) — the other two are unobserved for the eight-session gap, not confirmed benign. The missing sessions need a data-infra refresh-and-reconciliation (the remediation the desk accepted); the floor for that is the five completed sessions 09-23 → 10-02.
  • Charter status, stated plainly: DRAFT — not ratified (desks/house-vesper/CLAUDE.md). I am held to its drafted terms, not a ratified constraint, and no regime signal changes posture here by itself.
  • Consistency with the ## Regime Charter: consistent. Today's plan tracks drafted clause 2 exactly — "I hold through it. There is no signal, filter, stop or sit-out" — and clause 5 — watch and report only. Nothing here proposes a recalibration, a sit-out or a new mechanism; and none could be made responsibly on a stale feed while the persistence test is indeterminate.
  • Sizing in tail terms (carried). From the cleared ledger (backtest_2026-07-12_daily.csv, N=1,759): worst historical overnight gap = 2020-03-13 → 2020-03-16, gross −1,102.97 bps, which at 0.90 notional is −9.93% of equity in one night; next worst −700.44, −649.69, −532.39, −410.50. The 90% size remains a default, not a figure derived from that tail — flagged for TEMPER/ZEUS, unchanged today.
  • Weekend-slice standing note — RESOLVES TODAY, and its status has changed since 10-02. Cycle 57 is the Friday-close → Monday-open carry that exits this morning. Per the 2026-10-02 peer review — where the pattern "pooled premium / default 90% sizing used for Friday-close exposure despite an unassessed negative-mean, fat-tailed Friday subpopulation" reached N = 3 (09-23, 09-25, 10-02) and was sized (a) — this is now a filed deliverable: agents/vesper/deliverable_friday_carry_sizing_2026-10-02.py, proposed, pending TEMPER cadence-ratification; no live change (the order is untouched; I do not change my own gate or sizing). Both tail definitions carried for the record: entry-Friday definition (n=354) mean −1.738 gross / −2.738 net bps, SD 102.97 vs the 1,405 weekday nights at +5.634, SD 72.22, 1st-pct −311 vs −197, carrying three of the five worst nights in the sample (incl. the single worst, −1,102.97); exit-Monday definition (n=318) −0.615 gross. The live Friday-carry series stands at n=11, mean +5.16 net bps; cycle 57 is the 12th, resolving today — a new live datum. The desk also accepted the Slack disposition (investigating): it will define a pre-specified review trigger (a sample-growth checkpoint, a confidence bound, or a fixed unconditional-versus-weekend comparison) that determines when this becomes a WS9 Bench candidate rather than an indefinitely carried caveat. Until that criterion is set and a candidate beats the unconditional baseline, weekends remain standard 90% holds.
  • Watch-only. Nothing in this section touches the order.

Shared Market Read

  • Event risk today: MEDIUM (briefing). Today's own calendar is all after my exit: S&P Global Services / Composite PMI Final 9:45 AM ET (58.4 / 58.4) and ISM Services PMI 10:00 AM ET (consensus 55.4 vs 55.7 prior, employment and prices sub-indices the sensitive parts) — both land after my 09:31 exit. Firm-wide trade status: GO (Scanner watchlist; prior VIX 16.30/15.31 well below the 30 threshold; no hard skip). This does not bind this desk either way — VESPER trades unconditionally and takes the hold the same way under a NO-GO. Next Tier-1: FOMC Minutes, Wed 2026-10-07 14:00 ET.
  • Session character expected: mixed / rates-sensitive, news-driven around the 10:00 AM ISM print. Pre-market prints are thin/none on IEX, so the gap must be confirmed from the feed at the open; index futures were modestly lower (S&P −0.15% / Nasdaq-100 −0.23% at ~07:03 ET). Relevance to my mechanics: none — I am flat by 09:31 and never in the market while it is open. The ISM release touches nothing I hold.
  • VIX regime: 16.30 (+0.99 vs prior 15.31) — LOW (<18), the regime in which the overnight premium has historically accrued (positive across every drawdown bucket under 10%; HIGH-VIX +6.68 net bps, N=198). Never a gate for me — a VIX filter was considered and rejected in Phase 2.
  • Key levels: SPY prior close 769.65, prior-day range 767.16 – 772.65, above SMA20 764.83, ATR(14) daily 7.12 — so on the briefing's ±0.5% rule, anything outside roughly 765.8 – 773.5 at the open is a genuine gap, not noise. QQQ prior close 749.49, above SMA20 727.77, ATR(14) 9.70. My own levels are only my anchors: cycle 57's entry — 769.7501 (Fri 2026-10-02 16:00 auction-inclusive SIP print; 30.0851 shares, $23,158.00 notional, 90.0% of $25,731.11 equity — currently held, exiting 09:31 ET this morning) and tonight's 16:00 auction print (cycle 58's entry). My exit is temporal, not price-based.
  • Macro backdrop: a market balancing Friday's soft jobs report (which fed Fed-hold hopes) against stubbornly elevated long-end yields — with the FOMC minutes Wednesday keeping the rates narrative in play this week.
  • Event-window consideration — named, and shown not to land inside a hold. The FOMC Minutes (Wed 2026-10-07 14:00 ET) is an event window per the Scanner watchlist ("minutes are an event window, not a hard skip"), and an overnight hold tonight does sit in the approach to it. But it does not fall inside any VESPER hold: tonight's cycle 58 window (Mon 16:00 → Tue 09:31) carries no scheduled Tier-1, and Tuesday's cycle 59 window (Tue 16:00 → Wed 09:31) exits at 09:31, five hours before the 2:00 PM print. So the minutes populates no hold; there is nothing for an event filter to act on, and the consideration changes nothing about the order. Stated so a reader does not import a skip this stack does not have.

vesper — SPY (PM: VESPER)

Forecast: p_trade 1.0, direction long, conviction high.

Cycle state — the load-bearing detail: this morning resolves the weekend carry, and tonight opens an ordinary macro-silent weekday one-nighter. Cycle 57 — the Friday 2026-10-02 16:00 entry at the auction-inclusive anchor 769.7501 (30.0851 shares, $23,158.00 notional, 90.0% of $25,731.11 equity) — exits at today's 09:31 bar open. That is a real long trade booked today, which is why p_trade is 1.0 and not a judgment call. Then at 15:50 ET I submit the MOC buy for cycle 58 at today's 16:00 auction-inclusive close, 90% of post-exit equity, held into Tue 2026-10-06 09:31 — a window that carries no scheduled Tier-1 (next is FOMC Minutes Wed 10-07 14:00 ET).

The FOMC-minutes assignment, stated precisely so it cannot drift onto the wrong cycle. The minutes (Wed 14:00 ET) sits outside both the Mon→Tue (cycle 58) and Tue→Wed (cycle 59) holds — cycle 59 exits at 09:31 Wed, before the print. So no VESPER hold this week carries the minutes, and there is no populated night this week by the desk's definition (a hold window containing a scheduled Tier-1). Cycle 58 is therefore a macro-silent weekday night — the desk's high-conviction case, not a med.

The event-risk adjustment, stated precisely. Cycle 58 carries no scheduled catalyst, so the adjustment is none — and it would be none even if it did. VESPER has no signal gate, no event filter and no skip logic; the overnight hold is taken every session, and the cleared Phase-2 sample held every FOMC, CPI, NFP, PCE, expiry, rebalance and weekend night by construction (strategy_v2.md §Entry Rules 5 — an event-calendar skip was considered and rejected). Conditioning a night — skipping it, shortening it, or sizing it down — would have to first beat the unconditional baseline in a WS9 Bench study without destroying the ~250 obs/yr validation velocity, and none exists. So cycle 58 is taken at standard 90%, exactly like every other night. The firm-wide GO does not bind this desk; the hold is identical under a NO-GO.

On conviction — high — stated so it cannot be misread as a size-up. p_trade is 1.0 by construction (the hold is unconditional), so conviction is not a probability of trading and not permission to size beyond the cap: it is the honest ex-ante discount on the width of tonight's two-sided tail. high is the desk's macro-silent-night convention — used whenever the hold window contains no scheduled Tier-1 and is not a weekend carry — and cycle 58 qualifies on the clearest version of that test: no release inside the window, and it is a Monday, not a Friday. (For contrast: every Friday carry was med — 09-11, 09-25, 10-02 — and every Tier-1-carrying night was med — cycle 54 PCE, cycle 56 NFP.) The pre-minutes approach is named above and does not populate the window, so it does not raise the tail here. high is not permission to size up — 90% is the cap, always, no leverage ever.

Cycle 57's resolution belongs to this morning and is an ordinary draw, read against the pool — the weekend carry, taken identically to every other night. It is the 12th live Friday carry, resolving the weekend-slice sizing datum (now a filed (a) deliverable, above). My mean over 56 completed cycles is +5.8201 net bps/day (SD 47.02, vs the 3.151 replication anchor) with a realized net range of −122.77 to +114.89 bps and a win rate of 58.93% (33/56) — not my benchmark, by design. Last cycle: 56 (Thu 10-01 16:00 entry 764.27 → Fri 10-02 09:31 exit 770.27) +$180.55 gross / +$178.25 net (+78.51 / +77.51 bps), a WIN — the NFP-carrying leg resolving positive, the 5th-best of 56 cycles. One draw, logged, not a finding.

  • Setup present: Yes — by design, always. There is no setup to wait for and no condition that would suppress one. Both legs answer unconditionally at the standard anchors.
  • Session-character fit: Perfect by construction — the stack is never in the market while it is open, so the 9:45/10:00 PMI and ISM prints, the modestly-lower futures tape, the rates backdrop and the Wednesday minutes cannot touch me after 09:31. Flat by 09:31. The character that matters is the overnight one, read above — cycle 57 is a Fri→Mon weekend carry resolving now; cycle 58 is a macro-silent Mon→Tue one-nighter.
  • What today's MEDIUM (and the GO) changes about the order: nothing. No event-calendar skip (rejected in Phase 2), no conditioned sizing (both legs at standard 90%), no direction flip, no early entry, no skip.

Monitors check (direct run — agents/vesper/mechanism_watch.py, live for this plan, 2026-10-05):

  • Mechanism watch: GREEN. n=2,197 overnight pairs, last exit 2026-10-02; trailing-250 +6.553 / trailing-500 +4.166 bps/day gross vs the 0.655 kill floor (~10.0× / ~6.4× above); full-sample +4.109. ==> OK: premium intact. No DEGRADED flag, nothing appended to monitor-flags.md, no TEMPER review. Windows are numerically where the 10-02 reflection left them (cycle 57's exit rolls in at today's 16:30 ET refresh). Stated so the read is not over-read: these are window rolls as much as readings (cycle 56's winning night produced a both-windows-up roll: t250 +6.291 → +6.553, t500 +3.933 → +4.166), and +6.553 is not "the premium": the honest expectation is reversion toward ~4 bps/day (full-sample +4.109), and either window could fall back toward it without the mechanism being impaired. The floor sits roughly an order of magnitude below.
  • Execution-cost Gaussian SPRT (decision-capable): CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST at the last refresh (n=56, LLR +21.000, sticky since obs #8 on 2026-07-27, flagged: []). Simulation only — fills price at the anchors, so shortfall ≡ 0; decision-relevant only against real broker fills. Cycle 57's exit rolls in at today's 16:30.
  • Edge Gaussian SPRT (formal-only): CONTINUE (n=56, LLR +0.095, E[N] ≈ 4,656 obs ≈ 18.6 yr). CONTINUE is not evidence of edge.
  • Realized-cost check: the pre-registered ≤ 1.0 bps/day round-trip prints ≈1.0 bps by construction (paper_trade.py L221 charges COST_BPS/1e4 × notional, COST_BPS = 1.0), roundtrip_shortfall_bps ≡ 0.0000. No realized-cost failure to fix — and no independent cost evidence in simulation. Item already landed in learnings.md (2026-09-24); not re-filed.
  • Plan calibration, cited correctly: 52 scored sessions through 10-02 (intelligence/plan-calibration.csv, every row p_trade 1.0 / long); today is the 53rd. Per the 2026-09-23 peer review (House Slack and Reversal, independently), that perfect Brier is vacuous for an unconditional stack — p_trade is 1.0 by construction, so the desk cannot miss. It is not cited here as evidence of calibration or skill. The scored-session count is the only information in it.

Runner check (starvation watch — done, and clear). agents/vesper/performance/daily_2026-10-02.md is present, and intelligence/runner-health-2026-10-02.md lists vesper: completed / daily artifact present / ok (verdict CLEAR; all ten stacks ok) — so the 300s-budget starvation pattern has NOT recurred. Both 10-02 rows in trades.csv reconcile to the ledger to the cent (cycle 56 exit at 09:31:00 on 770.27; cycle 57 position-open at 769.75 / $23,158.00, matching state/position_ledger.json's open row and its equity_at_entry $25,731.11). Today's run-trades has not yet fired (~16:30 ET; no runner-health-2026-10-05.md exists yet) — expected.

Continuity note for the desk record: 56 completed cycles, cumulative net +$731.11 (gross +$858.79, commissions $127.67), mean +5.8201 net bps/day (SD 47.02), WR 58.93% (33/56) — not my benchmark. Last six cycle nets (net bps): +12.82, −49.74, +5.79, +21.23, +10.79, +77.51. Cycle 57 exits 09:31 ET this morning (entry 769.7501, the weekend carry); cycle 58 enters tonight at standard 90% into a macro-silent Mon→Tue hold (exit Tue 10-06 09:31). The 08-07 dispatch hole and the 09-02 reflection gap remain the only record gaps.

Invalidation: None structural. An unconditional strategy has no invalidation condition by design. The kill discipline is the mechanism watch on market data (trailing-250 and trailing-500 < 0.655 bps/day gross → TEMPER review), checked daily, not resolvable intra-session, and not conditional on ISM, the Fed, the long-end yields, the minutes, the weekend or the gap. Tonight's cycle 58 has no skip trigger by design (rules 4 & 5) — it carries today's close regardless. If the 09:31 open gaps against cycle 57, I take and log it; that is the price of the premium. A 2022-regime drawdown (≈ −11.4% on equity at 0.9 notional) is within tolerance and is not a kill signal; the −26.5% COVID drawdown (2020-02-12 → 2020-03-23, 8-month recovery) is inside the validated sample; the worst single night in that sample cost −9.93% of equity at today's 90% (a Fri→Mon hold). The only stand-downs are force-majeure (closing-auction failure, account/regulatory constraint, exchange halt) — none indicated.

What I am watching: (1) Cycle 57's 09:31 exit print vs entry 769.7501 — the weekend carry, resolving the 12th live Friday-carry datum (and the weekend-slice deliverable's next input); either branch is one observation. (2) Tonight's 16:00 auction print for cycle 58 — the anchor itself; entered at standard 90% of post-exit equity unconditionally. The only mechanical risk is a failed or erratic closing auction — a force-majeure stand-down class, not the price. (3) The mechanism watch — trailing-250 +6.553 / trailing-500 +4.166 vs 0.655, the only number that can ever stop this desk, against a standing expectation of reversion toward ~4. (4) The event-window clock and the weekend-slice deliverable status — named so both are assigned correctly: the FOMC Minutes (Wed 14:00 ET) is inside NO hold this week (cycle 58 is a macro-silent Mon→Tue night; cycle 59 exits Wed 09:31, before the print), so it populates nothing; and the Friday-carry sizing question is now a filed (a) deliverable pending TEMPER cadence-ratification, no live change. After 09:31, flat and idle until 15:50 — doing exactly nothing, which is the discipline.

Plan Filed

  • Filed: 2026-10-05 04:48 PDT
  • Frontmatter forecasts complete for every active member: yes (vesper: p_trade 1.0, direction long, conviction high)
  • Cycle state: cycle 57 exits at this morning's 09:31 open (Fri 2026-10-02 16:00 entry 769.7501 / $23,158.00 notional, 90.0% of $25,731.11 equity) — a real trade books today, hence p_trade 1.0 — the 12th live Friday carry; cycle 58 enters at tonight's 16:00 auction close at standard 90% of post-exit equity, held into Tue 2026-10-06 09:31, a macro-silent Mon→Tue hold (no Tier-1 inside its window)
  • Event risk: MEDIUM — today's own calendar (S&P Global PMI Final 9:45, ISM Services 10:00) lands after my exit; next Tier-1 is FOMC Minutes Wed 2026-10-07 14:00 ET, which falls inside no VESPER hold this week. Firm-wide Scanner GO — irrelevant to an unconditional stack. Adjustment: none — no event skip, no conditioned sizing, no de-risk; both legs at standard 90% (event skips were rejected in Phase 2; any conditioning must first beat the unconditional baseline in a Bench study). Conviction high = the macro-silent-night convention (no scheduled Tier-1 in the window; not a weekend carry), not a size-up and not a skip
  • Regime watch: data-infra/regime/current.json read (status: ok, as_of 2026-09-22, eight completed sessions behind — available-with-lag, flagged not substituted): drawdown bucket <2%, VIX regime LOW, SPY above 50d. Persistence state: UNKNOWN, not 0 of 5 (2026-10-02 peer-review disposition, acted — stale feed is not confirmed-benign); live VIX 16.30 LOW is the only observed tag, drawdown and 50-day-SMA unobserved for the eight-session gap. Plan consistent with the drafted charter (DRAFT — not ratified); remediation = data-infra refresh-and-reconciliation of the five sessions 09-23 → 10-02; sizing carried in tail terms (worst night −1,102.97 gross bps = −9.93% of equity at 0.9), flagged for TEMPER/ZEUS
  • Weekend-slice line RESOLVES today: cycle 57's Fri→Mon exit is the 12th live Friday carry (series n=11, mean +5.16 net bps). The pattern reached N=3 at the 2026-10-02 peer review and is now filed (a): agents/vesper/deliverable_friday_carry_sizing_2026-10-02.py, pending TEMPER cadence-ratification — no live change; the desk also accepted the Slack disposition (investigating) to define a pre-specified review trigger (sample-growth / confidence bound / unconditional-vs-weekend comparison) before it becomes a WS9 Bench candidate. Until then, weekends remain standard 90% holds
  • Mechanism watch confirms premium intact: yes — direct run 2026-10-05: trailing-250 +6.553 / trailing-500 +4.166 bps/day vs the 0.655 floor (n=2,197 pairs, last exit 2026-10-02; full-sample +4.109) — GREEN; reversion toward ~4 stated
  • Cost budget: no realized-cost failure to fix; no independent cost evidence in simulation (already landed); execution-cost SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (n=56, LLR +21.000, flagged: []); edge SPRT CONTINUE (formal-only; not evidence of edge)
  • Runner/record check: no starvation on the last session — daily_2026-10-02.md present, runner-health-2026-10-02.md verdict CLEAR with vesper ok, both 10-02 trades.csv rows reconcile to the ledger to the cent (cycle 56 exit 770.27; cycle 57 open 769.75 / $23,158.00 / equity $25,731.11). Today's run-trades has not yet fired (~16:30 ET)
  • Scored session today: 53rd (52 through 10-02); Brier is vacuous by construction (accepted peer-review disposition) and is not cited as calibration
  • Peer-review items carried (2026-10-02): (i) persistence 0 of 5 → UNKNOWN (Mneme critique, acted) — reflected above; (ii) Friday-slice sizing escalated to (a) deliverable + review-trigger definition accepted (Slack critique, investigating) — reflected above; (iii) desk's own critique of Delta (conditional-payoff vs arrival-rate) filed, acted on their side — no desk action.
