Desk Plan — House Vesper — 2026-10-02

Briefing reference: /Users/dadbot/Desktop/ClaudeBod/projects/dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-10-02-pm.md PM: VESPER — the evening star, the first light after the close.

Regime Watch

Read data-infra/regime/current.json (ASSAY), status: ok, as_of 2026-09-22 — now seven completed sessions behind today (09-23, 09-24, 09-25, 09-28, 09-29, 09-30 and 10-01 have not rolled in; the file has not advanced since the 09-23 refresh). Treated as available-with-lag and flagged, not substituted for. Values: spy_day flat (spy_open_to_close_pct −0.08), spy_drawdown_bucket <2% (spy_drawdown_pct −0.58), spy_vs_sma50 above 50d, vix 14.21, vix_regime LOW (<18).

  • Which of my charter's indicators are moving: none are moving state; the live proxies remain consistent with the lagged file. spy_drawdown_bucket <2%, vix_regime LOW, spy_vs_sma50 above — unchanged from the last read. The live tape agrees (briefing): SPY prior close 764.10, VIX 15.97 (−0.42 vs prior 16.39, LOW <18). (I cannot compute the live drawdown % myself: data/market_data/SPY_daily_sip.parquet ends 2024-12-31, so the file's <2% is cited as-is with its lag and the live proxy is SPY-vs-SMA20 plus the EOD's ATH distance.) One live note, stated without over-reading it: SPY closed 764.10, below its 20-day SMA (765.01) — a 20-day touch, not the charter's spy_vs_sma50 (50-day) tag, and it does not move a charter indicator; desk-record only.
  • Consistency with the ## Regime Charter: consistent. The charter's own persistence rule — drawdown bucket 5-10% or worse, or non-LOW VIX, for five consecutive sessions — stands at 0 of 5; today is nothing of 5 (VIX 15.97 is LOW). The <2% bucket is the one in which the cleared backtest's overnight premium was +3.00 net bps (N=715). Nothing here proposes a recalibration, a sit-out or a new mechanism.
  • Charter status, stated plainly so it is not over-read: DRAFT — not ratified (desks/house-vesper/CLAUDE.md). I am held to its drafted terms, not a ratified constraint, and no regime signal changes posture here by itself. Today's plan tracks drafted clauses 2 and 5 exactly: I hold through, and I watch and report only.
  • Sizing in tail terms (carried). From the cleared ledger (backtest_2026-07-12_daily.csv, N=1,759): worst historical overnight gap = 2020-03-13 → 2020-03-16, gross −1,102.97 bps, which at 0.90 notional is −9.93% of equity in one night; next worst −700.44 (2020-03-06→09), −649.69 (2020-03-11→12), −532.39 (2020-03-17→18), −410.50 (2024-08-02→05). The 90% size remains a default, not a figure derived from that tail — flagged for TEMPER/ZEUS, unchanged today.
  • Weekend-slice standing note — NOW IN PLAY tonight. Tonight's cycle 57 is a Friday-close → Monday-open carry (Fri 2026-10-02 16:00 → Mon 2026-10-05 09:31) — the first weekend leg since cycle 52 (Fri 09-25), and by the entry-Friday definition it is a Friday carry. Both slice definitions carried for the record: entry-Friday definition (n=354) mean −1.738 gross / −2.738 net bps, SD 102.97 vs the 1,405 weekday nights at +5.634, SD 72.22, 1st-pct −311 vs −197, and three of the five worst nights in the sample (incl. the single worst, −1,102.97, 2020-03-13→16); exit-Monday definition (n=318) −0.615 gross. Both numbers reported, labelled by population; the pooled +4.08 / +3.00 is not quoted as the expectation for a weekend leg. The live Friday-carry count stands at n=11, mean +5.16 net bps (last datum cycle 52, −49.74); tonight is the 12th, resolving Monday. The sizing question this line carries remains filed to TEMPER/ZEUS — no skip, no sized-down weekend, no weekday-conditional rule (any such rule must first beat the unconditional baseline through the WS9 Bench; Key Rules). Carried, and updated with live data when cycle 57 resolves.
  • Watch-only. Nothing in this section touches the order.

Shared Market Read

  • Event risk today: HIGH (briefing) — and the Tier-1 lands inside tonight's carry's predecessor, this morning's exit. The BLS September Employment Situation (NFP) prints at 08:30 AM ET (consensus +90K vs prior +162K; unemployment 4.1% / 4.1%; AHE +0.3% MoM / +0.3%). The 8:30 release falls inside cycle 56's window (Thu 10-01 16:00 → Fri 10-02 09:31; 08:30 < 09:31 exit) — the first Tier-1 inside a VESPER hold since cycle 54 carried PCE on 09-29/09-30. Today's own post-exit calendar is MEDIUM: Factory Orders (Aug) 10:00 (0.1% / 0.9%) and Dallas Fed Logan 10:00 — both land after my 09:31 exit. Firm-wide trade status: NO-GO (Scanner watchlist, NFP hard skip for intraday desks) — irrelevant to this desk: VESPER trades unconditionally, and would take the hold the same way under a GO. Next Tier-1 is FOMC Minutes 2026-10-07 14:00 ET — outside tonight's cycle 57 window.
  • Session character expected: event-driven pause, news-driven / mixed. Pre-market prints are thin/none on IEX, so the gap must be confirmed from the feed at the open, not inferred; futures were near-flat-to-cautiously-constructive into the report (S&P +0.03% / Nasdaq +0.10% / Dow +0.01% on the CNN snapshot) after volatile global bond/FX trading, easing yields and oil, with Middle East supply risk and French fiscal concerns still live. Relevance to my mechanics: none — I am flat by 09:31 and never in the market while it is open. The NFP release touches cycle 56's exit print at 09:31; everything after is not mine.
  • VIX regime: 15.97 (−0.42 vs prior 16.39) — LOW (<18), the regime in which the overnight premium has historically accrued (positive across every drawdown bucket under 10%; HIGH-VIX was +6.68 net bps, N=198). Never a gate for me — a VIX filter was considered and rejected in Phase 2.
  • Key levels: SPY prior close 764.10, prior-day range 758.82 – 765.63, below SMA20 765.01, ATR(14) daily 6.95 — so on the briefing's ±0.5% rule, anything outside roughly 760.3 – 767.9 at the open is a genuine gap, not noise. QQQ prior close 742.02, prior-day range 736.25 – 744.65, above SMA20 726.18, ATR(14) 9.67. My own levels are only my anchors: cycle 56's entry — 764.27 (Thu 2026-10-01 16:00 auction-inclusive SIP print; 30.0909 shares, $22,997.57 notional, 90.0% of $25,552.86 equity — currently held, exiting 09:31 ET this morning) and tonight's 16:00 auction print (cycle 57's entry). My exit is temporal, not price-based.
  • Macro backdrop: a markets-on-hold tape waiting on a jobs report that is expected to slow sharply (payrolls +90K vs +162K prior) while unemployment and wages hold — with rates/bond vol, an oil-supply channel and firm-dollar dynamics all sitting on the other side of the 8:30 print, and a weekend on the far side of tonight's hold.

vesper — SPY (PM: VESPER)

Forecast: p_trade 1.0, direction long, conviction med.

Cycle state — the load-bearing detail: this morning resolves the NFP-carrying one-nighter, and tonight opens the weekend leg. Cycle 56 — the Thursday 2026-10-01 16:00 entry at the auction-inclusive anchor 764.27 (30.0909 shares, $22,997.57 notional, 90.0% of $25,552.86 equity) — exits at today's 09:31 bar open, and today's 8:30 ET NFP print falls inside that window (8:30 < 09:31), so the position is live through the Tier-1. That is a real long trade booked today, which is why p_trade is 1.0 and not a judgment call. Then at 15:50 ET I submit the MOC buy for cycle 57 at today's 16:00 auction-inclusive close, 90% of post-exit equity, held into Mon 2026-10-05 09:31 — and no scheduled Tier-1 falls inside that window (next is FOMC Minutes Wed 10-07 14:00 ET). This is the leg the weekend-slice note above is about.

The NFP assignment, stated precisely so it cannot drift to the wrong cycle. Cycle 55 (Wed→Thu) carried Initial Jobless Claims (MEDIUM, resolved +10.79 net bps). Cycle 56's window (Thu 16:00 → Fri 09:31) carries NFP — the first Tier-1 inside a VESPER hold since cycle 54 carried PCE on 09-29/09-30. The desk's definitional test — a populated night is one whose window contains a scheduled Tier-1 — places cycle 56 firmly on the populated side. Cycle 57's window (Fri 16:00 → Mon 09:31) is macro-silent on scheduled Tier-1, but it is a weekend carry — its own, separately-named tail (see below).

The NFP adjustment, stated precisely. Cycle 56 carries NFP, and the adjustment is none — the deliberate call, not an omission. VESPER has no signal gate, no event filter and no skip logic; the overnight hold is taken every session, and the cleared Phase-2 sample held every FOMC, CPI, NFP, PCE, expiry, rebalance and weekend night by construction (strategy_v2.md §Entry Rules 5 — an event-calendar skip was considered and rejected). Conditioning an NFP night — skipping it, shortening it, or sizing it down — would have to first beat the unconditional baseline in a WS9 Bench study without destroying the ~250 obs/yr validation velocity, and none exists. So cycle 56 is held at standard 90% through the print, exactly like every other night, and the NFP carry is owned rather than dodged: a scheduled binary carried overnight is precisely the tail the overnight premium is paid to cover. The same holds for cycle 57 tonight, which carries a weekend rather than a print. The firm-wide NO-GO binds intraday desks only; the desk takes the hold the same way under a GO.

On conviction — med — stated so it cannot be misread as a skip or a de-risk. p_trade is 1.0 by construction on both legs (the hold is unconditional), so conviction is not a probability of trading and not permission to size down: it is the honest ex-ante discount on the width of tonight's two-sided tail. med is the convention this desk has used every time the hold carried an elevated tail — the populated-night nights (09-11, 09-14/15/16, 09-22, 09-23, 09-24, 09-25, 09-29) and every prior Friday carry (09-11 and 09-25 were both med). Tonight qualifies on the weekend-leg test: cycle 57 is a Fri→Mon hold, the subpopulation whose cleared-ledger mean is negative (entry-Friday −1.738 gross / −2.738 net, SD 102.97; three of the five worst nights incl. the single worst), a wider and lower-mean tail than a macro-silent weekday night. A 15.97 VIX and a weekend tail are what a wider tail looks like — a wider tail is what the premium is paid for, not something to hedge by fiat. med is not permission to trim — 90% is the cap, always, no leverage ever.

Cycle 56's resolution belongs to this morning and is an ordinary draw, read against the pooled mean — a Tier-1 night, taken identically to every other. It carries the 8:30 NFP print; the Factory Orders and Logan prints land after the 09:31 exit and cannot touch me. My mean over 55 completed cycles is +4.5167 net bps/day (SD 46.43, vs the 3.151 replication anchor) with a realized net range of −122.77 to +114.89 bps and a win rate of 58.2% (32/55) — not my benchmark, by design. Last cycle: 55 (Wed 09-30 16:00 entry 763.09 → Thu 10-01 09:31 exit 763.99) +$27.10 gross / +$24.80 net (+11.7942 / +10.7942 bps), a WIN — the claims-carrying leg resolving positive, the 24th-best of 55 cycles. One draw, logged, not a finding.

  • Setup present: Yes — by design, always. There is no setup to wait for and no condition that would suppress one. Both legs answer unconditionally at the standard anchors.
  • Session-character fit: Perfect by construction — the stack is never in the market while it is open, so the NFP release, the near-flat futures tape, the oil/yield/French-fiscal backdrop and the post-exit Factory Orders and Logan remarks cannot touch me after 09:31. Flat by 09:31. The character that matters is the overnight one, read above — cycle 56 is an NFP-carrying Thu→Fri one-nighter, and cycle 57 is a macro-silent Fri→Mon weekend carry.
  • What today's HIGH (and the NO-GO) changes about the order: nothing. No event-calendar skip (rejected in Phase 2), no conditioned sizing (cycles 56 and 57 both at standard 90%), no direction flip, no early entry, no skip.

Monitors check (direct run — agents/vesper/mechanism_watch.py, live for this plan, 2026-10-02):

  • Mechanism watch: GREEN. n=2,196 overnight pairs, last exit 2026-10-01; trailing-250 +6.291 / trailing-500 +3.933 bps/day gross vs the 0.655 kill floor (~9.6× / ~6.0× above); full-sample +4.075. ==> OK: premium intact. No DEGRADED flag, nothing appended to monitor-flags.md, no TEMPER review. Windows are numerically where the 10-01 reflection left them (cycle 56's exit rolls in at today's 16:30 ET refresh). Stated so the read is not over-read: these are window rolls as much as readings — cycle 55's winning night produced a mixed roll (t250 fell +6.332 → +6.291, t500 rose +3.893 → +3.933) — and +6.291 is not "the premium": the honest expectation is reversion toward ~4 bps/day, and either window could fall back toward it without the mechanism being impaired. The floor sits roughly an order of magnitude below.
  • Execution-cost Gaussian SPRT (decision-capable): CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST at the last refresh (n=55, LLR +20.625, sticky since obs #8 on 2026-07-27, flagged: []). Simulation only — fills price at the anchors, so shortfall ≡ 0; decision-relevant only against real broker fills. Cycle 56's exit rolls in at today's 16:30.
  • Edge Gaussian SPRT (formal-only): CONTINUE (n=55, LLR +0.065, E[N] ≈ 4,656 obs ≈ 18.6 yr). CONTINUE is not evidence of edge — the honesty label cuts against reading today's NFP-carrying exit as anything but a design choice.
  • Realized-cost check: the pre-registered ≤ 1.0 bps/day round-trip distance prints ≈1.0 bps by construction (paper_trade.py L221 charges COST_BPS/1e4 × notional, COST_BPS = 1.0), roundtrip_shortfall_bps ≡ 0.0000. No realized-cost failure to fix — and no independent cost evidence in simulation. Item already landed in learnings.md (2026-09-24); not re-filed.
  • Plan calibration, cited correctly: 51 scored sessions through 10-01 (intelligence/plan-calibration.csv, every row p_trade 1.0 / long); today is the 52nd. Per the 2026-09-23 peer review (House Slack and Reversal, independently), that perfect Brier is vacuous for an unconditional stack — p_trade is 1.0 by construction, so the desk cannot miss. It is not cited here as evidence of calibration or skill. The scored-session count is the only information in it.

Runner check (starvation watch — done, and clear). agents/vesper/performance/daily_2026-10-01.md is present, and intelligence/runner-health-2026-10-01.md lists vesper: completed / daily artifact present / ok (verdict CLEAR; all ten stacks ok) — so the 300s-budget starvation pattern has NOT recurred. Both 10-01 rows in trades.csv reconcile to the ledger to the cent (cycle 55 exit at 09:31:00 on 763.99; cycle 56 position-open at 764.27 / $22,997.57, matching state/position_ledger.json's open row and its equity_at_entry $25,552.86). Today's run-trades has not yet fired (~13:30 PT; no runner-health-2026-10-02.md exists yet) — expected.

Continuity note for the desk record: 55 completed cycles, cumulative net +$552.86 (gross +$678.24, commissions $125.37), mean +4.5167 net bps/day, WR 58.2% (32/55) — not my benchmark. Last six cycle nets (net bps): −49.74, +5.79, +21.23, +10.79 — and before that −49.14, +12.82. Cycle 56 exits 09:31 ET this morning (entry 764.27, carrying NFP); cycle 57 enters tonight at standard 90% into the macro-silent Fri→Mon weekend carry (exit Mon 10-05 09:31). The 08-07 dispatch hole and the 09-02 reflection gap remain the only record gaps.

Invalidation: None structural. An unconditional strategy has no invalidation condition by design. The kill discipline is the mechanism watch on market data (trailing-250 and trailing-500 < 0.655 bps/day gross → TEMPER review), checked daily, not resolvable intra-session, and not conditional on NFP, the Fed, the long end, oil, the weekend or the gap. Tonight's cycle 57 has no skip trigger by design (rules 4 & 5) — it carries today's close through the weekend regardless. If the 09:31 open gaps against cycle 56, I take and log it; that is the price of the premium. A 2022-regime drawdown (≈ −11.4% on equity at 0.9 notional) is within tolerance and is not a kill signal; the −26.5% COVID drawdown (2020-02-12 → 2020-03-23, 8-month recovery) is inside the validated sample; the worst single night in that sample cost −9.93% of equity at today's 90% (a Fri→Mon hold). The only stand-downs are force-majeure (closing-auction failure, account/regulatory constraint, exchange halt) — none indicated.

What I am watching: (1) Cycle 56's 09:31 exit print vs entry 764.27 — the NFP-carrying one-nighter; either branch is one observation. (2) Tonight's 16:00 auction print for cycle 57 — the anchor itself; entered at standard 90% of post-exit equity unconditionally. The only mechanical risk is a failed or erratic closing auction — a force-majeure stand-down class, not the price. (3) The mechanism watch — trailing-250 +6.291 / trailing-500 +3.933 vs 0.655, the only number that can ever stop this desk, against a standing expectation of reversion toward ~4. (4) The Tier-1 clock and the weekend slice — named so both are assigned to the correct cycle: NFP (Fri 10-02 08:30 ET) is inside cycle 56's window (exits today 09:31); cycle 57 is the 12th live Friday carry, resolving Mon 10-05, and is the weekend-slice sizing datum (filed to TEMPER/ZEUS). After 09:31, flat and idle until 15:50 — doing exactly nothing, which is the discipline.

Plan Filed

  • Filed: 2026-10-02 04:36 PDT
  • Frontmatter forecasts complete for every active member: yes (vesper: p_trade 1.0, direction long, conviction med)
  • Cycle state: cycle 56 exits at this morning's 09:31 open (Thu 10-01 16:00 entry 764.27 / $22,997.57 notional, 90.0% of $25,552.86 equity) — a real trade books today, hence p_trade 1.0 — and it carries today's 8:30 NFP (Tier-1) inside its window; cycle 57 enters at tonight's 16:00 auction close at standard 90% of post-exit equity, held into Mon 2026-10-05 09:31, a macro-silent Fri→Mon weekend carry (no Tier-1 inside its window)
  • Event risk: HIGH — NFP (Fri 2026-10-02 08:30 ET, Tier-1) lands inside cycle 56's hold; today's own post-exit calendar is MEDIUM (Factory Orders 10:00, Logan 10:00). Firm-wide Scanner NO-GO (NFP hard skip for intraday desks) — irrelevant to an unconditional stack. Adjustment: none — no event skip, no conditioned sizing, no de-risk; cycles 56 and 57 both at standard 90% (event skips were rejected in Phase 2; any conditioning must first beat the unconditional baseline in a Bench study). Conviction med = the wider-tail convention, qualifying tonight on the weekend-leg test (Fri→Mon carry; every prior Friday carry 09-11 / 09-25 was med), not a de-risk and not a skip
  • Regime watch: data-infra/regime/current.json read (status: ok, as_of 2026-09-22, seven completed sessions behind — available-with-lag, flagged not substituted): drawdown bucket <2%, VIX regime LOW, SPY above 50d. No charter indicator has changed state; live VIX 15.97 LOW; SPY 764.10 below SMA20 765.01 (a 20-day touch, not the charter's 50-day tag); persistence rule 0 of 5; plan consistent with the drafted charter (DRAFT — not ratified); sizing carried in tail terms (worst night −1,102.97 gross bps = −9.93% of equity at 0.9), flagged for TEMPER/ZEUS
  • Weekend-slice line IN PLAY: cycle 57 is a Fri→Mon carry — entry-Friday definition (n=354) mean −1.738 gross / −2.738 net bps, SD 102.97; Fri→Mon overlap (n=318) −0.615; 3 of the 5 worst nights incl. the single worst; live Friday-carry n=11, mean +5.16 net bps — tonight is the 12th. Sizing question stays filed to TEMPER/ZEUS; no skip, no sized-down weekend, no weekday-conditional rule
  • Mechanism watch confirms premium intact: yes — direct run 2026-10-02: trailing-250 +6.291 / trailing-500 +3.933 bps/day vs the 0.655 floor (n=2,196 pairs, last exit 2026-10-01; full-sample +4.075) — GREEN; reversion toward ~4 stated
  • Cost budget: no realized-cost failure to fix; no independent cost evidence in simulation (already landed); execution-cost SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (n=55, LLR +20.625, flagged: []); edge SPRT CONTINUE (formal-only; not evidence of edge)
  • Runner/record check: no starvation on the last session — daily_2026-10-01.md present, runner-health-2026-10-01.md verdict CLEAR with vesper ok, both 10-01 trades.csv rows reconcile to the ledger to the cent (cycle 55 exit 763.99; cycle 56 open 764.27 / $22,997.57 / equity $25,552.86). Today's run-trades has not yet fired (~13:30 PT)
  • Scored session today: 52nd (51 through 10-01); Brier is vacuous by construction (accepted peer-review disposition) and is not cited as calibration

House Vesper — Desk Reflection — 2026-10-02

Plan reference: desks/house-vesper/plans/2026-10-02-plan.md EOD briefing: dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-10-02-eod.md PM: VESPER — the evening star, the first light after the close.

What Happened (desk level)

One desk, one member, one unconditional overnight stack. Single-session window since the 10-01 filing — a two-leg day: the NFP-carrying leg resolved, and the weekend leg opened.

Cycle 56 — the Thu 2026-10-01 16:00 entry — exited this morning and resolved as a WIN, the 5th-best of the 56 completed cycles. Entered at the auction-inclusive anchor 764.27 (30.0909 shares, $22,997.57 notional, 90.0% of $25,552.86 equity), exited at today's 09:31 bar open print 770.27: gross +$180.55 (+78.5063 gross bps), commission $2.30, net +$178.25 (+77.5063 net bps). It carried today's 8:30 ET September Employment Situation (NFP, Tier-1) inside its window (08:30 < 09:31 exit) — the second live scheduled Tier-1 the stack has held.

The tape, read against the window I actually held. NFP printed +29K against +90K expected — a sharp downside surprise — with unemployment 4.2% vs 4.1% and AHE +0.1% vs +0.3% MoM; August was revised to +133K from +162K (July/August combined −60K). The initial reaction was relief, not fear: yields eased, futures gained. SPY opened 770.68, ranged 767.16–772.65, closed 769.65 (+0.73% vs prior 764.10); QQQ closed 749.49 (+1.01%); VIX 15.31 (−1.08), LOW (<18). The overnight move that paid me was the close-to-open leg: 764.27 → 770.27 = +78.51 gross bps — the premium doing exactly what it is designed to do, taken by the clock and nothing else. My exit at 09:31 printed 770.27, marginally below the day's open (770.68) and +8.06 bps ABOVE the eventual consolidated close (769.65) — the first above-close print after 10-01's below-close, extending the eight-night record to five-above / three-below. That is a draw, not a signal.

Cycle 57 then opened at tonight's 16:00 anchor — the weekend-carrying one. Entry 769.75 at the 16:00 auction-inclusive SIP print, 30.0851 shares, $23,158.00 notional (90.0% of post-exit equity $25,731.11), held into Mon 2026-10-05 09:31. A Fri→Mon weekend carry — the 12th live Friday carry and the first weekend leg since cycle 52 (Fri 09-25). Its window contains no scheduled Tier-1 (the next verified Tier-1 is FOMC Minutes Wed 10-07 14:00 ET, outside the window); its tail is the weekend itself — the entry-Friday subpopulation whose cleared-ledger mean is negative (n=354, −1.738 gross / −2.738 net bps, SD 102.97; three of the five worst nights in the sample, including the single worst, −1,102.97). Taken at standard 90%, unconditionally — the adjustment is none: no event skip, no conditioned sizing, no weekend de-risk. That sizing question stays filed to TEMPER/ZEUS.

Anchor coherence, filed so it is not re-derived as a discrepancy: tonight's 16:00 auction-inclusive print (769.75) sits +1.30 bps ABOVE the EOD's consolidated SPY close (769.65) — the same positive-sign class as 09-25, 09-28, 09-30 and 10-01. That is the designed anchor (P27): the auction-inclusive 16:00 SIP bar is what I trade, not the reported consolidated close. The auction printed clean; the only stand-down class (a failed or erratic closing auction) did not occur.

Continuity for the desk record: 56 completed cycles, cumulative net +$731.11 (gross +$858.79, commissions $127.67), mean +5.8201 net bps/day vs the 3.151 replication anchor (SD 47.44), win rate 58.93% (33/56) — not my benchmark, by design. Cycle 56's +77.51 net bps pulled the realized mean up from +4.5167 (n=55) to +5.8201 (n=56) — one night moving the mean by 1.3 bps/day, the same way one loss moved it down; the realized net range stays −122.77 to +114.89 bps. Plan calibration: the 10-02 row is scored clean (plan-calibration.csv: 2026-10-02,house-vesper,vesper,1.0,long,med,1,1,long,1,0.0 — p_trade 1.0 → traded 1, direction long → long hit, Brier 0.0), the 52nd scored session. Per the 2026-09-23 peer-review disposition this Brier is vacuous for an unconditional stack and is not cited as evidence of calibration. The 09-02 reflection gap and the 08-07 dispatch hole remain the only record gaps.

The Load-Bearing Question: What Was the Binding Gate This Period?

No gate bound this period — for the same structural reason as every prior reflection: an unconditional stack has no setup gate to bind and no threshold to graze. The blocked= near-miss notes are empty by construction, always; p_trade is 1.0 by design on both legs. Read on the question's own terms, this is regime, not calibration: there is no repeated near-miss against one threshold — nothing to take to TEMPER, no gate misbehavior. Cycle 56's +77.51 net bps is an ordinary draw on the winning side, taken identically to the way the −49.74 and +5.79 nights before it were taken — one trade, standard 90%, no skip, no de-risk of a Tier-1-carrying leg.

What this period actually resolved is the second leg of the desk's scheduled-catalyst sequence — and the honest read is that it is one observation. Cycle 56 carried NFP (8:30 < 09:31 exit); the plan named it to the correct cycle, pre-registered, no skip and no de-risk. It resolved positive (+77.51 net bps, the 5th-best of 56 cycles). That is not evidence that "a Tier-1 print inside a hold is safe" — any more than the 09-30 PCE-carrying +21.23 was, or than 10-01's claims-carrying +10.79 was. It is logged now so the outcome is read against a pre-registered expectation rather than re-derived after the fact. And cycle 57 raises a different-shaped tail: not a print, but a weekend — a Fri→Mon carry, the subpopulation whose cleared-ledger mean is negative, taken at the standard 90%. The mechanism's own claim is that the overnight premium is paid to cover exactly this kind of tail; one benign resolution neither confirms nor refutes that.

  • Mechanism watch (the only gate that can ever stop this desk) — direct run for this reflection (2026-10-02): GREEN, n=2,197 overnight pairs, last exit 2026-10-02; trailing-250 +6.553 / trailing-500 +4.166 bps/day gross vs the 0.655 floor (~10.0× / ~6.4× above), full-sample +4.109. ==> OK: premium intact. No DEGRADED flag, nothing appended to monitor-flags.md, no TEMPER review. Cycle 56's winning night produced a BOTH-WINDOWS-UP roll: trailing-250 rose (+6.291 → +6.553), trailing-500 rose (+3.933 → +4.166), full-sample rose (+4.075 → +4.109). Read against 10-01 (a win took trailing-250 down) and 09-24 (a loss raised trailing-250), that is the point restated: the trailing windows are window rolls as much as readings, so no single night, win or loss, is evidence about the mechanism in either direction. The honest expectation remains reversion toward ~4 (full-sample +4.109), and the floor sits roughly an order of magnitude below.
  • Realized-cost check (the pre-registered execution budget, ≤ 1.0 bps/day round-trip) — printed at the budget: commission $2.30 on $22,997.57 notional; the gross→net bps step is exactly 1.0000; roundtrip_shortfall_bps = 0.0000. Stated in the honest form already landed in learnings.md (2026-09-24): the check is arithmetically fixed at ≈1.0 bps by the simulator, not measured (agents/vesper/paper_trade.py L221 charges COST_BPS/1e4 × notional, COST_BPS = 1.0) — in simulation the realized-cost distance cannot bind. No realized-cost failure to fix; no independent cost evidence either. Not re-filed: a closed item.
  • Execution-cost Gaussian SPRT (decision-capable — decision-relevant only against real broker fills): CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST, n=56, LLR +21.000, sticky since obs #8 (2026-07-27); −18.056 to CONSISTENT (+2.944), −23.944 to DEGRADED (−2.944). Simulation only — fills price at the anchors, shortfall ≡ 0.
  • Edge Gaussian SPRT (formal-only): CONTINUE, n=56, LLR +0.0954, E[N] ≈ 4,656 obs (~18.6 yr). CONTINUE is not evidence of edge — the honesty label cuts against reading today's +77.51 as evidence of survival exactly as hard as it cut against 09-28's −49.74 as evidence of decay.

Were the pre-registered kill/watch distances right for the session? Yes — and once more the temporal distance is the only one that printed a directional value at all. The plan pre-registered exactly two distances (the realized-cost budget and the mechanism-watch kill floor) and deliberately pre-registered no price-based watch. The kill distance was never within ~10× of binding; the cost distance printed at its line for the structural reason above. The distance that actually decided the night was again 09:31 versus 16:00 — the 09:31 exit print (770.27) sat +8.06 bps ABOVE the eventual consolidated close (769.65). Over eight nights the record now reads five-above / three-below (09-23 +59.6, 09-24 −43.7, 09-25 −41.5, 09-28 +28.09, 09-29 +22.50, 09-30 +54.57, 10-01 −1.44, 10-02 +8.06 bps, sign = print-above-close) — a two-sided record, not a trend, and no strategy implication (rules 4 & 5 untouched; any conditional-exit proposal would have to beat the unconditional baseline in a Bench study first).

Regime Watch

Read data-infra/regime/current.json (ASSAY), status: ok; as_of 2026-09-22 — now eight completed sessions behind today (09-23, 09-24, 09-25, 09-28, 09-29, 09-30, 10-01 and 10-02 not yet rolled in); treated as available-with-lag and flagged, not substituted for. Values: spy_day flat (spy_open_to_close_pct −0.08), spy_drawdown_bucket <2% (spy_drawdown_pct −0.58), spy_vs_sma50 above 50d, vix 14.21, vix_regime LOW (<18). None of the three charter indicators (spy_drawdown_bucket, vix_regime, spy_vs_sma50) is moving state. The live tape is broadly consistent: VIX 15.31, LOW; no drawdown near 5% anywhere on the board. One live note, stated without over-reading it: SPY closed 769.65, now ABOVE its 20-day SMA (764.83) — reversing yesterday's below-SMA20 touch — but that is a 20-day level, not the charter's spy_vs_sma50 (50-day) tag, and it does not move a charter indicator; desk-record only. The charter's persistence rule — 5-10%-or-worse bucket, or non-LOW VIX, for five consecutive sessions — stands at 0 of 5. The <2% bucket is the one in which the cleared backtest's overnight premium was +3.00 net bps (N=715). Charter status: DRAFT — not ratified (desks/house-vesper/CLAUDE.md) — I am held to its drafted terms, not a ratified constraint. Today's plan was consistent with it: I closed the NFP-carrying leg and opened the weekend leg, both unconditionally at standard 90%, exactly clause 2 of the drafted charter ("I hold through it. There is no signal, filter, stop or sit-out"). Watch and report only, nothing here changes posture.

Plan Accuracy (desk level)

DimensionRating (1–5)Notes
Event risk call5HIGH held, and the composition was exact. The plan rated today HIGH — NFP (Fri 10-02 08:30 ET, Tier-1, ~+90K vs +162K prior) inside cycle 56's window — and correctly assigned today's own post-exit calendar MEDIUM (Factory Orders 10:00, Logan 10:00). It landed as scheduled: NFP +29K vs +90K expected, unemployment 4.2% vs 4.1%, AHE +0.1% vs +0.3% MoM, August revised to +133K from +162K (combined −60K); Factory Orders in line at +0.1%. One honest caveat stated, not buried: the event risk resolved benignly-positive for the one leg I held — a single draw's outcome, not a vindication of the rating's direction, which the plan deliberately did not pre-assign
Session character call5My character read — "event-driven pause, news-driven / mixed" — held precisely: SPY opened 770.68, ranged a 767.16–772.65 band (1.20× ATR), and closed 769.65 (+0.73% vs prior) after a nearly flat final hour (+0.04%); QQQ +1.01% to 749.49. The EOD's own narrative grade came back STUCK (structure and named risks held). My only character surface is the overnight leg, and cycle 56's window resolved positive
Setup prediction5Unconditional — the only forecast is exit/entry placement, and both landed exactly where pre-registered: cycle 56 exited the 09:31 bar open at 770.27, and cycle 57 entered 769.75 at the 16:00 auction-inclusive close at standard 90% size ($23,158.00 notional / 30.0851 shares, 90.0% of $25,731.11 post-exit equity), held into Mon 2026-10-05 09:31 — no event skip, no conditioned sizing, no weekend de-risk
Adjustments5None made — 90% notional, 16:00 auction-inclusive anchor, 09:31 exit, all standard. Twelfth consecutive session of the same discipline with no drift: −49.74, +5.79, +21.23, +10.79, +77.51 net bps (last five) — no de-risk of a Tier-1 (NFP) inside the hold, no re-size "after a win," no weekend-conditioned sizing, and no conditioning on the firm-wide Scanner NO-GO. Cost realized 1.0000 bps — at the ≤ 1.0 bps/day budget line by construction (the 09-24 finding, already landed), roundtrip_shortfall_bps = 0.0. No stand-down condition indicated

Overall plan accuracy: 5.0 / 5. Machine-scored: the 10-02 plan forecast p_trade 1.0 / long / med; cycle 56's exit booked a real long trade today (traded = 1), direction long → long hit — Brier 0.0, extending the perfect scored run to 52 sessions. The scoring subtlety, restated: "direction hit" means the booked trade was long, as forecast — the score does NOT care that the long won $178.25, any more than it cared that the 09-28 long lost $114.52. Calibration captures setup-firing fidelity, trivially perfect for an unconditional stack by design, and the med was the honest ex-ante width of a two-sided tail (cycle 56 carried NFP; cycle 57 a weekend) — not a skip, not a size-up, and it changed nothing about the order.

Learnings (desk level)

  • The NFP-carrying leg resolved positive — one observation, not a finding, and the second Tier-1 inside a hold. Cycle 56 (Thu 10-01 16:00 → Fri 10-02 09:31) carried September NFP (8:30 ET, +29K vs +90K); the plan named it to the correct cycle, took it at standard 90%, and it printed +77.51 net bps — the 5th-best of 56 cycles. Read exactly as the pre-registration set it up to be read: the mechanism's claim is that the overnight premium is paid to cover a scheduled-catalyst tail, and one benign resolution neither confirms nor refutes that — the same discipline that refused to read the 09-28 loss as decay refuses to read today's +77.51 as survival. Filed as desk-record color; no strategy implication (rules 4 & 5 untouched).
  • A winning night produced a BOTH-WINDOWS-UP mechanism-watch roll — the mirror of 10-01's mixed roll. Cycle 56's +78.51 gross night took trailing-250 +6.291 → +6.553, trailing-500 +3.933 → +4.166, full-sample +4.075 → +4.109. Read against 10-01 (a win took trailing-250 down) and 09-24 (a loss raised trailing-250): no single night, win or loss, is evidence about the mechanism, in either direction. The kill discipline is measured on market data, never the night's P&L (rule 4), and the market data says premium intact at ~10.0× / ~6.4× the floor.
  • The temporal exit printed +8.06 bps ABOVE the consolidated close — the first above-close print after 10-01's below-close, extending an eight-night record to five-above / three-below. Cycle 56's 09:31 print (770.27) landed just under the day's open (770.68) but above the close (769.65), so a hold-to-close would have been marginally worse tonight, by 8.06 bps. Read as an eight-night two-sided record (09-23 +59.6, 09-24 −43.7, 09-25 −41.5, 09-28 +28.09, 09-29 +22.50, 09-30 +54.57, 10-01 −1.44, 10-02 +8.06 bps): the clock is behaving as the pre-registered temporal rule should, and the recent run is a draw, not a signal. No strategy implication; no conditional exit contemplated.
  • Live weekend-slice datum: none resolved this period — stated so the silence is not mistaken for a dropped thread. Cycle 57 (the 12th live Friday carry) is open and resolves Mon 2026-10-05, updating the live Friday-carry series (currently n=11, mean +5.16 net bps) then — not today. The sizing question filed to TEMPER/ZEUS on 09-25 remains open and unaffected by this period.
  • Check performed, nothing new filed this period beyond the desk-record data above — with one count-advance candidate. I checked backtest-agent/learnings.md before filing, per standing instruction. The candidate items were all examined: (1) the realized-cost check is arithmetic in simulation item is already landed (learnings.md 2026-09-24) — today's 1.0000 bps is the same number for the same structural reason; (2) the mechanism-watch silent-cache-fallback item stays RESOLVED (2026-09-04) — today's direct run returns a live as-of-today read (n=2,197, last exit 2026-10-02); (3) the EOD-generator mechanism-watch line item is unchanged — the standing convention (the direct daily run governs; if the generator asserts a mechanism-watch status for this desk, treat it as unreliable until a correctly-populated line is observed) is not re-litigated here. One candidate flag for learnings.md, desk-scoped and phrased as an update, not a new class: the second live scheduled Tier-1 inside a VESPER hold (NFP, cycle 56, resolved positive, +77.51 net bps, 5th-best of 56) — a count advance on the thread opened 2026-09-30 (which recorded the first, PCE, resolved positive). Flagged to the orchestrator; not written to learnings.md by this desk.
  • Record-keeping, self-caught, unchanged conventions. (a) The auto-generated performance/daily_2026-10-02.md again opens "No trade taken today" / Session P&L $0.00 even though its own cumulative line (n=56, +$731.11 net, WR 58.9%) correctly carries cycle 56's realized +$178.25 and reconciles to the ledger to the cent. On an exit day the exit leg books a real trade at 09:31 and cycle 57's position-open is a separate no_trade:position_opened row; the generator reads the open row, not the exit. Unchanged generator convention, not a new gap — the trades.csv row is the record. (b) The EOD's Regime Update line "the desk's NFP hard skip was appropriate" is a generic firm-level statement — House Vesper has no skip (it held through NFP and won), and the EOD's own Desk Summary correctly reports VESPER's exit/open. Desk-record note only, not escalated.
  • Operational: no runner-starvation recurrence; intelligence/runner-health-2026-10-02.md verdict CLEAR, vesper completed with today's artifact present (ok), all ten stacks ok. Both trades.csv rows reconcile to the ledger exactly (cycle 56 exit at 09:31:00 on 770.27; cycle 57 position-open at 769.75 / $23,158.00, matching state/position_ledger.json's open row and its equity_at_entry $25,731.11). Mechanism watch (GREEN, ~10.0× / ~6.4× floor, n=2,197), execution-cost SPRT (CONSISTENT, n=56) and edge SPRT (CONTINUE, n=56) all ran clean.

Desk Summary (orchestrator-facing)

  • VESPER (SPY, unconditional overnight): cycle 56 — the NFP-carrying one-nighter (Thu 10-01 16:00 entry 764.27, $22,997.57 notional) — exited this morning at the 09:31 bar open 770.27: a WIN, +$180.55 gross / +$178.25 net (+78.5063 / +77.5063 bps), the 5th-best of 56 cycles — taken at the same standard 90% as the losses and the wins before it; realized cost 1.0000 bps, roundtrip_shortfall_bps = 0.0. NFP printed +29K vs +90K expected, unemployment 4.2% vs 4.1%, AHE +0.1% vs +0.3%, August revised to +133K; SPY opened 770.68, ranged 767.16–772.65, closed 769.65 (+0.73% vs prior 764.10); QQQ +1.01% to 749.49; VIX 15.31 (LOW) — and my 09:31 exit printed 770.27, +8.06 bps ABOVE the close (the first above-close print after 10-01's below-close), extending the eight-night record to five-above / three-below. Cycle 57 entered tonight at 769.75 ($23,158.00 notional / 30.0851 sh, 90.0% of $25,731.11 equity) — the Friday→Monday weekend carry, the 12th live Friday carry, no Tier-1 inside its window (next Tier-1 is FOMC Minutes Wed 10-07 14:00 ET); taken at standard 90%, adjustment none. Tonight's 16:00 auction print sat +1.30 bps above the consolidated close (the designed anchor, P27). Monitors: mechanism watch GREEN — trailing-250 +6.553 / −500 +4.166 vs the 0.655 floor (n=2,197 pairs, last exit 2026-10-02; ~10.0× / ~6.4× above), full-sample +4.109 — a winning night produced a both-windows-up roll; execution-cost SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (n=56, LLR +21.000); edge SPRT CONTINUE (formal-only, not evidence of edge); realized-cost 1.0000 bps, at the ≤ 1.0 bps budget line by construction (no failure to fix, no independent cost evidence in simulation). Cumulative +$731.11 net over 56 cycles, mean +5.8201 net bps/day (SD 47.44), WR 58.93% (33/56). Plan scored clean: p_trade 1.0 → traded 1, direction long → hit, Brier 0.0 (52nd session; vacuous by construction, not cited as calibration).
  • Watching: (1) Cycle 57's Mon 10-05 09:31 exit — the Fri→Mon weekend carry (entry 769.75), the 12th live Friday carry, resolving the weekend-slice sizing datum (filed to TEMPER/ZEUS). (2) The mechanism watch — trailing-250 +6.553 / −500 +4.166 vs 0.655, the only number that can ever stop this desk, against a standing expectation of reversion toward ~4. (3) The temporal exit's eight-night two-sided record — five-above / three-below vs the consolidated close; desk-record color only. (4) The weekend-slice sizing question remains open with TEMPER/ZEUS — no new datum this period (it resolves Monday). No skip by design.

Reflection Filed

  • Filed: 2026-10-02 (EOD reflection run)
  • Desk-blind rule: peer-review access per D3-superseded; single-member desk, no other desk's directory read or referenced in this reflection
  • Peer-review items carried: the vacuous-Brier disposition stands (not cited as calibration); the realized-cost line restated honestly (already landed); the weekend-slice sizing question remains filed to TEMPER/ZEUS rather than decided, and received no new live datum this period (cycle 57 is open, resolving Monday). No new critique has landed since the 2026-09-25 session.
  • Next-session event risk (from EOD briefing, next session's calendar): Monday 2026-10-05 — a fully verified Monday macro/earnings calendar was not established from the sources available for today's EOD run; the next Tier-1 verified by the deterministic calendar is FOMC Minutes, Wed 2026-10-07 14:00 ET, which is outside cycle 57's window. VESPER's cadence is unaffected: cycle 57 (Fri 10-02 16:00 entry 769.75 → Mon 10-05 09:31) is held unconditionally at standard 90% size (rules 4 & 5) — no event skip, no conditioned sizing, no weekend de-risk, and nothing about today's +178.25 (or the −49.74 before it) changes the size of the next trade by a single share. One item flagged for learnings.md this period: the second live scheduled Tier-1 inside a VESPER hold (NFP, cycle 56, +77.51 net bps, 5th-best of 56) — a count advance on the 2026-09-30 thread, desk-scoped.
