Desk Plan — House Mneme — 2026-10-02

Briefing reference: /Users/dadbot/Desktop/ClaudeBod/projects/dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-10-02-pm.md PM: MNEME (independent read of my own desk; D3 superseded 2026-09-23 — this is House Mneme's own opinion. GHOST stays frozen, no plan)

Regime Watch

data-infra/regime/current.json (read 2026-10-02, status: ok): as_of 2026-09-22 — SPY day flat (open-to-close −0.08%), above 50d, drawdown bucket <2% (−0.58%), VIX 14.21 LOW (<18). The file now lags the live tape by eight sessions (09-23, 09-24, 09-25, 09-28, 09-29, 09-30, 10-01 and today are not folded in). Not unavailable — the tags it carries still have the same shape as the live tape — but named honestly as eight sessions behind.

Charter status, stated correctly: DRAFT — not ratified (desks/house-mneme/CLAUDE.md). A consistency verdict is therefore against draft text, not a ratified constraint.

Draft-charter consistency: consistent on substance — no risk-off tag is active, and today is a hard-skip day rather than a hostile tape. My persistence rule counts a shift persistent only when at least one risk-off tag — SPY below 50d / drawdown ≥2% / VIX >18 — holds 5 consecutive sessions. None holds and none is close, so nothing is filed.

Three indicators are moving, all named:

  1. VIX eased back to 15.97 (prior close 16.39, −0.42). Still squarely LOW (<18), 2.03 points short of the >18 trigger. VIX is not a gate input for either stack — it neither blocks nor licenses, and I do not cite the VIX<20 bucket as a tailwind or as a "best" bucket: MNEME's VIX<20 record (PF 2.39 / N=197) is my most-traded LOW bucket with WR 37.6% — my weakest inferential WR — while MID 20–30 is the strongest at PF 3.54 / N=100 / WR 49.0%.
  2. SPY closed below its SMA20 shelf — 764.10 vs SMA20 765.01 (−0.12%) — a third consecutive close under the shelf (09-29 lost it after 09-28 pierced-and-reclaimed it; 09-30 and 10-01 held below). The shelf that was support a week ago is now overhead. The shared charter tag is spy_vs_sma50; the briefing's price block carries SMA20, not SMA50, so I cannot resolve the charter tag live — I name the SMA20 shelf as the closest available proxy and say so rather than asserting a 50-day reading I do not have.
  3. The always-long baseline gap (own charter monitor, non-tag) — updated to the 10-01 books, and it widened sharply. MNEME baseline 51 trades / +$1,826.89 (WR 45.1%) vs real +$954.64 → gap −$872.25; TRACE baseline 40 trades / +$1,467.38 (WR 45.0%) vs real −$388.23 → gap −$1,855.61; combined gap ≈ −$2,727.86 across 41 real trades against 91 baseline trades. Both baselines won on the same 10-01 session the real book was flat/losing on (MNEME baseline Window B +$332.22; TRACE baseline Window B +$304.88), so the gap jumped from the ≈−$1,657.84 recorded on the 10-01 reflection. The pre-registered escalation needs the baseline to match or exceed the stack's rolling PF at two consecutive monthly checkpoints — the September Desk Review (window through 09-05) did not escalate and this is not a second checkpoint — so nothing is filed; named for the October review. Gate-clear rate and the two rolling-PF windows (MNEME 15-trade ≈3.1, TRACE 20-trade) are unchanged and quiet.

Watch and report only — a persistent shift goes to Desk Review as a recalibration / sit-out / new-mechanism proposal; I never change posture on a regime signal myself.

Shared Market Read

  • Event risk today: HIGH — a scheduled Tier-1 release lands today, and the firm is NO-GO. September Employment Situation (NFP) prints at 8:30 AM ET (consensus +90K vs prior +162K; unemployment 4.1% / 4.1%; AHE +0.3% MoM / +0.3%), with Factory Orders (Aug) 10:00 ET (MEDIUM) and Dallas Fed President Logan speaking 10:00 ET (MEDIUM) as a second event window. The Scanner's authoritative local-calendar check returns firm-wide NO-GO, and — more binding than firm policy — NFP is in both active members' own blackout set (FOMC/CPI/NFP/PCE), so today is a stack-level deterministic hard skip: each runner logs no_trade:event_day:NFP_tier1 and short-circuits all window observation and signal computation before any KNN query runs. Next Tier-1: FOMC Minutes 10-07 (2:00 PM ET), an event window but not a hard skip.
  • Session character expected: News-driven / mixed, an event-driven pause. The briefing flags a clear pause ahead of the 8:30 print and warns that post-release price discovery may delay clean opening-range structure; a material surprise can rapidly reprice the rates path. Pre-market prints are thin/none on IEX — the gap is unconfirmed until the open. The overnight narrative is mixed-to-cautiously-constructive (yields and oil easing later offered relief; Middle East supply/security risk and French fiscal concerns active). I record the pre-open cross-index read as a tape fact, never a p_trade input (standing forecast-discipline rule since 09-24).
  • VIX regime: 15.97 — LOW (<18), −0.42 from 16.39. Named as a level, not reassurance: VIX is not a gate input for either stack; the binding constraint today is the hard NFP skip.
  • Key levels (observational — not tradeable today): SPY prior close 764.10, prior range 758.82 – 765.63 (6.81 pts = 0.98× ATR(14) 6.95), SMA20 765.01 (−0.12%, shelf overhead). ATR 6.95 → a 1.5× ATR stop is ≈ 10.4 index points. QQQ prior close 742.02, range 736.25 – 744.65, SMA20 726.18 (well above), ATR(14) 9.67. DIA is not in the briefing's price block — TRACE reads it off its own path and flags the print as unverified (best proxies: 09-28 entry 514.92 / stop 513.98 / exit 514.64; 09-25 baseline hard-flat 517.62; 09-24 base ~510–511).
  • Macro backdrop: the September labor print is the dominant catalyst into a market already sensitive to Fed-rate expectations and elevated long-end yields, with Middle East energy risk and French fiscal concerns adding channels — the next major test of the Fed-policy repricing, two days ahead of the FOMC minutes.
The desk-level read — a hard, pre-registered skip, filed as a pre-commitment

Both active members are long-only, intraday, flat at the close, single position per day, and both carry NFP in their own hard-skip set. There is no discretionary question today: the runner's live event-day check (shared.event_calendar.is_event_day(), Tier-1 filter) returns True → each stack logs no_trade:event_day:NFP_tier1 and never reaches signal computation. That is the same deterministic gate that produced clean no-trade rows on the desk's prior Tier-1 days (CPI 07-14, 08-12, 09-11; PCE 07-31, 09-30). It is a genuine real-event skip: the live path uses real FOMC/CPI/NFP/PCE release dates, so this is not the old over-broad first-Friday blanket that lived only in the v5 backtest's _build_blackout() (fixed 2026-07-04, backtest-only — paper_trade.py's live check was always correct).

Printed: mneme 0.0 / trace 0.0, direction none, conviction high — both. This is not a hedge and not a 0.5-on-everything signature: it is the honest point forecast on a day where the fire probability is mechanically zero, and the conviction field says what it should say (a hard, pre-registered skip I would stake a full unit on, unlike a base-rate day). A same-day co-fire counts as one clustered observation for Family 5 — moot today, no fire.

What this plan is not doing, holding to the desk's standing dispositions: no per-stack p_trade spread (the item was withdrawn on 09-25 and is not re-filed); no gate-clear-streak "conditioning evidence" framing; no VIX-as-tailwind or VIX-as-"best"; no N=1 validation claim; the pre-market cross-index read recorded and not priced; the charter status stated as DRAFT — not ratified.

The two structural questions I am watching post-release (the reason a skip day is still worth writing):

  1. The print's tape enters the KNN candidate pool for future non-event queries. Today's bar-by-bar microstructure will sit in both stacks' running z-score normalization and neighbour set for every later non-event query — the contamination class TRACE's own 2026-07-16 A/B diagnostic measured. That diagnostic found the contamination real but not load-bearing (clean-pool PF at or above the cleared baseline in both periods, dev 2.07 → 2.10, holdout 3.08 → 3.28), so this is a watch, not a worry; but a violent, one-directional post-print session is exactly the kind of anchor worth checking against later matches. Flagged for the next reflection.
  2. Today's 9:30–10:00 span is precisely TRACE's Window A observation window and precisely the post-print noise window. No trade is possible, but the tape is observable at zero cost: whether DIA's first 30 minutes after a Tier-1 print produces a clear-and-fail (non-continuation) shape is a free test of the standing session-character / cross-index-leadership filter for Window A proposal (TRACE Window A is 2W/9L on 11 fires, all 9 losses stop-outs), and adds an instance to it without a trade. Note the item gained no instance on 10-01 (A vote 30%, nowhere near the gate).

MNEME — SPY KNN (p_trade 0.0, none, high)

No trade expected — hard Tier-1 NFP skip.

The binding gate is deterministic and pre-registered: NFP is in my own blackout set (FOMC/CPI/NFP/PCE), so my runner logs no_trade:event_day:NFP_tier1 and never reaches signal computation. p_trade 0.0, direction none, conviction high — a hard skip, not a forecast of softness. I will not manufacture a trade.

Setup present: no — structurally excluded, independent of tape quality. Setting the gate aside, today is the wrong character for a long-only broad-index continuation: Window A's observation span (9:30–10:00) is the post-print price-discovery window itself, and the briefing's own guidance is that the data impulse can reverse. That is the class my votes handle worst.

Sizing vs. event risk: no sizing decision applies — a hard-skip day takes no position and size is moot. Standard sizing (0.75% = $187.50 on $25K, max $75K notional) is unchanged and is never an event-risk input; the gate, not size, is the protection today.

Key levels (observational, not tradeable): SPY prior close 764.10, prior range 758.82 – 765.63, SMA20 765.01 (−0.12% — the shelf is overhead for a third consecutive close), ATR(14) 6.95 → 1.5× ATR stop ≈ 10.4 points. A >1.5% open gap either direction is my standing pattern-library-thin-at-extremes condition — academic today, since no signal runs.

What I would be watching if this were not a skip, stated so it can be checked against the tape anyway: my binding gate has been the vote (≥62%), and it has bound wide recently (09-25 A 40% / B 53% / C 60%; 09-28 A 47% / B 47% / C 60%). Two corrections I am carrying rather than smoothing over: (a) "Similarity never binds me" is falsified as a flat claim — on 09-29 Window B cleared the vote (67%) but max_sim failed at 0.485 vs the 0.50 floor, the first recent session where similarity, not the vote, was the binding constraint; it argues against ever treating a max_sim floor raise as a "quality" tightening. (b) Window C is now the stack's live weak spot — the 10-01 reflection's headline finding. C is 4W/5L on 9 fires (sub-book PF ≈1.09) and its last two fires both stopped out (08-11 −$44.62; 10-01 −$43.61, on a wide 73.3% vote clear and a thin 0.5533 max_sim clear — a window observation, not a threshold graze). That same thin 0.5533 clear also falsified the desk's old "lowest clears all won" claim (now 3W/1L at N=4). All of this is watch-only; no gate is touched.

Invalidation of the no-trade call: if my runner logs anything other than no_trade:event_day:NFP_tier1 today, that is a pipeline / event-calendar escalation datapoint, not a reason to trade. No gate is amended; v5's parameter set (K=15, max_sim ≥ 0.50, vote ≥ 62%) is untouched and stays live. SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST, sticky, LLR +4.532 (n=27, WR 48.1%, cumulative +$954.64) — a no-trade row does not move n; nothing to escalate. Window C suspension rule (rolling 15-trade PF < 1.2) not triggered — the rolling 15-trade stack PF is healthy at ≈3.1.

TRACE — DIA KNN (p_trade 0.0, none, high)

No trade expected — hard Tier-1 NFP skip.

Same deterministic gate, same pre-registration: NFP is in my blackout set (FOMC/CPI/NFP/PCE), so my runner logs no_trade:event_day:NFP_tier1 and never computes a window signal. p_trade 0.0, direction none, conviction high. The 09-05 SIP same-day fix is irrelevant today — no bars are read for signal purposes.

Setup present: no — structurally excluded. Independent of the gate, my joint entry bar (max_sim ≥ 0.60 and vote ≥ 62%, K=10, DIA) is the highest in the family, and today's 9:30–10:00 span is the post-print noise window where my worst live window lives. There is nothing here I would want to be long into.

Sizing vs. event risk: no sizing decision applies on a hard-skip day. Standard 0.75% ($187.50 on $25K), max $75K notional — unchanged. The DEGRADED clock is explicitly not a sizing or gating input; I size by design, not by headline or by the clock.

Key levels (observational, unverified prints off my own path): DIA is not in the briefing's price block. Best proxies: 09-28 entry 514.92 / stop 513.98 / exit 514.64, 09-25 baseline hard-flat 517.62, 09-24 base ~510–511. The ~510–511 area (09-24's own base) remains the level that must hold to keep a bid under the leg; a decisive break and hold below it with the Dow's rate-sensitives leading lower is the value-leg fade tape where my longs stop out. Named as a change, not a level already true.

The structural question I am watching post-release, stated concretely: today's 9:30–10:00 span is exactly my Window A observation window and exactly the post-print price-discovery window. My Window A record is 2W/9L on 11 fires and all 9 losses are stop-outs on non-continuation tapes (09-18 −$88.45, 09-22 −$82.08, 09-25 $0.00, 09-28 −$41.31); gate fidelity does not discriminate — 09-25 and 09-28 both cleared wide (vote 70.0%, max_sim 0.9215 / 0.8877) and lost, 09-21 cleared similarly (vote 80%, sim 0.9318) and won. No trade is possible today, but the tape is observable at zero cost: does DIA's first 30 minutes after a Tier-1 print produce the same non-continuation shape? If it does, that is a 12th same-shaped instance for the standing session-character / cross-index-leadership filter for Window A proposal — proposed to TEMPER, never executed — and it strengthens the case that the constant is Window A's non-continuation character. (The item gained no instance on 10-01: A vote 30%, nowhere near the gate.)

Invalidation of the no-trade call: if my runner logs anything other than no_trade:event_day:NFP_tier1 today, that is a pipeline / event-calendar escalation datapoint, not a reason to trade. No gate is amended; v2's parameter set (K=10, max_sim ≥ 0.60, vote ≥ 62%) is untouched and stays live. SPRT CONTINUE, LLR −2.700 (n=14, WR 14.3%, 2W/12L, −$388.23), 0.245 from the −2.944 DEGRADED boundary (path 0.888 → 0.534 → 1.305 → 0.952 → 0.952 → 0.598 → 0.245) — the thinnest buffer of the run. Today does not move the clock — a skip day is not an observation — so the buffer stays at its thinnest-of-the-run value with the boundary not crossed and the 09-18 desk-PM-review / TEMPER-within-5 protocol not re-triggered. That is the desk's top watch item, named, not a change.

Pooled note (Family 5)

Both active members are LIVE but hard-skipped — firm-wide NO-GO on the deterministic Tier-1 calendar rule, and the same NFP skip sits in each stack's own blackout set, so this is a stack-level gate as well as firm policy. Both print 0.0 / none / high. No sizing adjustment is meaningful (no position is taken), no gate is touched, and no posture changes: MNEME's v5 set (K=15, max_sim ≥ 0.50, vote ≥ 62%) and TRACE's v2 set (K=10, max_sim ≥ 0.60, vote ≥ 62%) are untouched. Both member sections remain clear of the five peer-review dispositions (no per-stack spread; no gate-clear-streak conditioning; no VIX-as-tailwind or VIX-as-"best"; no N=1 validation claim; charter stated as DRAFT — not ratified). Monitoring clocks: MNEME SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (n=27, LLR +4.532, +$954.64); TRACE SPRT CONTINUE (n=14, LLR −2.700, 0.245 from DEGRADED, −$388.23) — thinnest of the run, unchanged by a skip day, boundary not crossed. Watch item named under Regime Watch: the always-long baseline gap — updated to the 10-01 books, combined ≈ −$2,727.86 (MNEME baseline 51 tr / +$1,826.89 vs real +$954.64, gap −$872.25; TRACE baseline 40 tr / +$1,467.38 vs real −$388.23, gap −$1,855.61) — carried, named for the October review, nothing filed (not a second checkpoint). The two post-release structural questions this plan puts on the record are the KNN candidate-pool contamination watch (today's print enters the pool for future non-event queries; TRACE's own 2026-07-16 diagnostic says not load-bearing) and the free Window A session-character observation (does DIA's post-print 9:30–10:00 span produce a non-continuation shape — an instance without a trade). A same-day co-fire counts as one clustered observation.

Cadence Rule Header

Friday weekly-floor trigger. This desk's reflection floor is Friday, and today is Friday 2026-10-02, so the desk is spawned for the daily reflection whether or not anything traded. Scope is everything since the desk's last reflection — desks/house-mneme/reflections/2026-10-01-reflection.md covered the three sessions Tue 09-29 → Thu 10-01, so this period is a single session: Fri 10-02. Both active members logged no_trade:event_day:NFP_tier1 — no fire, no co-fire, nothing to cluster. GHOST remains frozen (Phase 2, Decision D2) — no reflection.

What Happened

The desk took no trade and lost nothing, because the day was excluded by construction, not by the tape. Both active stacks hit their own deterministic Tier-1 blackout — NFP is in both members' hard-skip set (FOMC/CPI/NFP/PCE) — and each runner logged no_trade:event_day:NFP_tier1, short-circuiting before any window observation or KNN query ran. Desk net this period: $0.00 on 0 trades. There is no near-miss row today, because the event gate fires before the KNN gate: no blocked=knn_gate line, no vote, no max_sim, no window reached. That is the whole of the period's execution: two clean, correct skips.

The session was a two-sided, post-print fade — the shape the plan pre-registered, and a genuinely ordinary NFP tape rather than a violent one. The September Employment Situation printed a clear downside surprise — payrolls +29K vs +90K consensus, unemployment 4.2% vs 4.1%, AHE +0.1% vs +0.3% MoM, August revised +133K from +162K (combined revisions −60K). The initial relief response eased yields and lifted equity futures, and the cash session closed positive versus the prior close but below its open, with a nearly flat final hour. SPY closed 769.65 (+0.73% vs the 764.10 prior close, −0.13% off the 770.68 open), range 767.16–772.65, true range 8.55 = 1.20× ATR(14) 7.12, finishing above its SMA20 (764.83) — the first close back above the shelf after three closes below it. QQQ 749.49 (+1.01%), range 747.63–754.51, true range 12.49 = 1.29× ATR 9.70, comfortably above SMA20 (727.77). VIX 15.31 (−1.08 vs 16.39), LOW (<18). Factory Orders +0.1% in line; Logan's remarks unverified. The EOD grades the morning narrative STUCK and calls the HIGH rating right for the right reason. Neither index ran; both covered ~1.2–1.3× ATR but faded from the open and drifted flat into the close — a ranging, news-driven, two-sided session, not a one-way post-print drive.

The plan's core call was correct and its forecast was the cleanest print the desk has made: both members forecast 0.0 / none / high, and both realized $0. This was not the hedged 0.5-on-everything signature the brief warns against — it was an honest point-zero forecast on a day where the fire probability was mechanically zero, with the conviction field saying what it should say (a hard, pre-registered skip I would stake a full unit on). Both scored Brier 0.0. On a deterministic-skip day the only defensible forecast is zero, and the desk printed it and was right twice.

The one thing the plan put on the record that today partially answered, and one it could not. The plan flagged two post-release structural questions:

  1. The KNN candidate-pool contamination watch — and today's print was benign. Today's bar-by-bar tape enters both stacks' running z-score normalization and neighbour set for every later non-event query — the contamination class TRACE's own 2026-07-16 A/B diagnostic measured (found real but not load-bearing: clean-pool PF at or above the cleared baseline, dev 2.07 → 2.10, holdout 3.08 → 3.28). The plan's worry was a violent, one-directional post-print session — exactly the kind of anchor worth checking against later matches. Today was not that: a moderate, two-sided, fade-from-the-open tape (SPY 1.20× ATR, QQQ 1.29× ATR, last hour ~flat, VIX easing to 15.31 LOW). So the contamination watch gets a benign instance, consistent with the diagnostic's "not load-bearing" finding; nothing to escalate.
  2. The free Window A observation — unverifiable, and I will not assert it. Today's 9:30–10:00 span is exactly TRACE's Window A observation window and exactly the post-print price-discovery window; the plan hoped to add a zero-cost instance to the standing session-character / cross-index-leadership filter for Window A proposal (Window A is 2W/9L on 11 fires, all 9 losses stop-outs). DIA is not in the briefing's price block, there is no signal_detail file for today, and no DIA print was verified off the live path — so the Window A item gained no instance, and I record that as a true gap rather than reading a shape into proxies I do not have.

Everything the desk is actually carrying is unchanged today, by construction — a skip day moves nothing. MNEME's Window C is still 4W/5L on 9 fires (sub-book PF ≈1.09; last two fires stopped out) — no fire today, so unchanged. TRACE's DEGRADED clock is still frozen at 0.245, the thinnest buffer of the run, because a skip day is not an observation — a deferral of the boundary test, not a pass; boundary not crossed, the 09-18 desk-PM-review / TEMPER-within-5 protocol not re-triggered. The always-long baseline gap is unchanged at ≈ −$2,727.86 (both arms skipped NFP too). Runner health is CLEAR for a third consecutive day (intelligence/runner-health-2026-10-02.md, all ten agents ok, including both members). No peer-review file landed on the desk after the 2026-09-25 session.

Event Risk vs. Expectation

  • Event risk HIGH — correct, and it bound both stacks deterministically, exactly as pre-registered. Tier-1 NFP (September Employment Situation) printed 8:30 AM ET, and NFP sits in both members' own blackout set — so this was a stack-level hard skip as well as firm NO-GO, logged as no_trade:event_day:NFP_tier1 before any signal computation. The Scanner's deterministic check flagged the event; the EOD confirms it released. No missed same-day Tier-1, and no discretionary call to second-guess — the gate did the work, and the plan's p_trade 0.0 / conviction high print is the correct representation of a mechanically-zero session. Factory Orders (+0.1%, in line, 10:00 ET) was the only other scheduled item and never approached either gate.
  • The print resolved as a clear downside surprise and the market read it as relief. Payrolls +29K vs +90K consensus, unemployment 4.2% vs 4.1%, AHE +0.1% vs +0.3%, revisions −60K combined. Softer labor → easier rate path → yields eased and equities finished higher versus the prior close. That is the expected event mechanism, and the desk had no position to be exposed to it — a skip day's whole point.
  • Session character — the news-driven/two-sided call was right. The plan called news-driven, an event-driven pause, and warned post-release price discovery could delay clean opening-range structure. The close delivered a positive-vs-prior, below-open, nearly-flat-last-hour tape: not a clean trend, not a violent one-directional drive. The plan again recorded but did not price the pre-open cross-index read (standing forecast-discipline rule, unchanged since 09-24). The character call cost nothing because nothing traded into it.
  • Invalidation — the no-trade call's only invalidation was a pipeline failure, and none occurred. Both stacks logged the expected no_trade:event_day:NFP_tier1; runner health is CLEAR. No stack logged a trade on an NFP day, so no event-calendar escalation datapoint was generated.
  • Forward risk: next US equity session is Monday 2026-10-05 (Saturday 10-03 is a non-trading day; the EOD notes no fully verified Monday calendar was established). The next verified Tier-1 is FOMC Minutes 2026-10-07, 2:00 PM ET — an event window but not in either stack's hard-skip set, so both stacks will be live and eligible Monday and through the minutes. Live threads: whether the softer-labor relief bid persists into lower-rate expectations, chip/software leadership (MU/AI-memory), and whether SPY holds back above its SMA20 shelf (765.83 — today's close 769.65 is the first above it after three below).

Per-Member Binding Gate Analysis

MNEME — binding gate this period: the deterministic Tier-1 event gate (no_trade:event_day:NFP_tier1), bound by construction. REGIME — the setup was structurally excluded; no calibration signal, no near-miss data at all.
  • No KNN near-miss row exists today, and that is the point. The event gate fires before the KNN gate, so there is no blocked=knn_gate A/B/C line to read — no vote, no max_sim, no window. This is the cleanest possible REGIME read: the setup never came close because it never ran. There is nothing to recalibrate; the correct action on a pre-registered skip day is to skip, and I did.
  • The stack's live threads are unchanged by a skip day. Window C is still 4W/5L on 9 fires (sub-book PF ≈1.09; last two fires stopped out, 08-11 −$44.62 and 10-01 −$43.61) — no fire today, so no movement. The corrected thin-clear item stands at 3W/1L at N=4 (0.5447 W, 0.5533 L, 0.5553 W, 0.5712 W). The similarity-bound datapoint (09-29 B, 0.485 vs 0.50) remains N=1 period / N=2 recent, below the desk's N≥3 bar. Nothing re-filed, nothing escalated.
  • Forecast: p_trade 0.0 (high conviction) → no trade → Brier 0.0. A hard, pre-registered skip forecast at the point-zero it deserves, and correct. SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST, sticky, LLR +4.532 (n=27, WR 48.1%, +$954.64) — a no-trade row does not move n.
  • Baseline monitor: MNEME baseline 51 tr / +$1,826.89 vs real +$954.64 → gap −$872.25, unchanged (baseline also skipped). Named for the October review; the pre-registered escalation needs two consecutive monthly checkpoints and this is not one — nothing filed.

Verdict: REGIME — the event gate bound the session by construction and no window ever reached the KNN query, so there is no near-miss data and no threshold in play. The setup was structurally absent, not a threshold grazed; the correct action was the skip, and it was taken. Window C's live character remains the open (TEMPER-shaped) question, untouched today.

TRACE — binding gate this period: the deterministic Tier-1 event gate (no_trade:event_day:NFP_tier1), bound by construction. REGIME — no near-miss, no calibration signal, clock deferred again.
  • Same construction, same clean read. No KNN row today; the event gate short-circuits before signal computation. Nothing grazed because nothing ran. The 09-05 SIP same-day fix is irrelevant on a skip day — no bars read for signal purposes.
  • The DEGRADED clock is feasible-only-when-firing, and today is another deferral. SPRT CONTINUE — n=14 (W2/L12), LLR −2.700, still 0.245 from the −2.944 boundary (path 0.888 → 0.534 → 1.305 → 0.952 → 0.952 → 0.598 → 0.245, then flat). A skip day is not an observation → the buffer stays frozen at its thinnest-of-the-run value. Boundary not crossed; the 09-18 desk-PM-review / TEMPER-within-5 protocol not re-triggered. Explicitly not a sizing or gating input — standard 0.75% unchanged. This was already recorded on 09-28/10-01 and carries no new information today; not re-filed.
  • Window A's standing item gained no instance — and I could not verify the free observation. Window A is 2W/9L on 11 fires (all 9 losses stop-outs). The plan hoped to read DIA's 9:30–10:00 post-print span as a zero-cost 12th same-shaped test, but DIA is not in the briefing's price block and no verified DIA print exists — so the item is carried as-is, with an honest note that today's free observation was not obtainable, not that it came back negative. The standing proposal remains a session-character / cross-index-leadership filter for Window A — a TEMPER conversation, never a change to the 9:30–10:00 window, K=10, or max_sim ≥ 0.60.
  • Forecast: p_trade 0.0 (high conviction) → no trade → Brier 0.0. Correct.
  • Baseline monitor: TRACE baseline 40 tr / +$1,467.38 vs real −$388.23 → gap −$1,855.61, unchanged (baseline also skipped). Largest single-stack component of the desk monitor; named for October, nothing filed.

Verdict: REGIME — the event gate bound by construction, no window reached the KNN query, no near-miss, nothing to recalibrate. The DEGRADED clock is frozen at 0.245 for a third consecutive reflection-side session, because a skip day is a deferral of the boundary test, not a pass; boundary not crossed, protocol not re-triggered. Window A's item gained no instance and the free observation was unverifiable — carried as-is.

Narrative finding — this was a deterministic skip day and the honest reflection of it is short: the desk's only job was to not trade, and it did not trade. Both stacks were excluded before signal computation by their own pre-registered Tier-1 blackout, so there is no near-miss, no grazed threshold, and no calibration signal anywhere in the period — the load-bearing question resolves to REGIME for both members, by construction. The two things worth recording are (1) the desk printed its cleanest-ever forecast — 0.0 / high on both stacks, realized $0, Brier 0.0 twice — a genuine point-zero call rather than a hedge; and (2) the plan's post-print structural watch got a benign data point on candidate-pool contamination (today was a moderate, two-sided fade, not the violent one-directional anchor the plan worried about) and a genuine gap on the free Window A observation (no verified DIA print, so no instance — recorded as a gap, not a negative). Everything the desk carries is unchanged: Window C 4W/5L, the DEGRADED clock frozen at 0.245, the baseline gap at −$2,727.86. Runner health CLEAR for a third consecutive day. Combined desk cumulative: 41 trades, +$566.41. Next session Monday 10-05; next Tier-1 FOMC Minutes 10-07.

Regime Watch

data-infra/regime/current.json (read 2026-10-02, status: ok): as_of 2026-09-22 — SPY day flat (open-to-close −0.08%), above 50d, drawdown bucket <2% (−0.58%), VIX 14.21 LOW (<18). The file lags the live tape by nine sessions (09-23 inclusive of today are not folded in). Not unavailable — the tags it carries still have the same shape as the live tape — but named honestly as nine sessions behind.

Live tape against it: VIX 15.31 (EOD), LOW (<18), −1.08 from 16.39 — easing, still 2.69 points inside the >18 trigger; and SPY closed 769.65, back ABOVE its SMA20 shelf (764.83, +0.63%) — the first close above the shelf after three consecutive closes below it (09-29, 09-30, 10-01). QQQ also finished well above its SMA20 (727.77). Honest limitation, unchanged: my charter's shared tag is spy_vs_sma50, and the EOD briefing's price block carries SMA20, not SMA50 — so I cannot resolve the charter tag live this session, and I name the SMA20 shelf as the closest available proxy rather than asserting a 50-day reading I do not have.

Charter status: DRAFT — not ratified (desks/house-mneme/CLAUDE.md). The consistency verdict below is therefore against draft text, not a ratified constraint. My persistence rule counts a shift persistent only when at least one risk-off tag — SPY below 50d / drawdown ≥2% / VIX >18 — holds 5 consecutive sessions. None is active; none is anywhere near 5. VIX is easing inside LOW, no drawdown tag has turned, and the SMA20 proxy — the closest thing I have to the 50-day tag — flipped back above today, weakening rather than strengthening any risk-off reading. Nothing filed.

Draft-charter consistency: consistent — today is the orderly, LOW-VIX side of the charter, and the desk behaved exactly as the charter says, in its skip branch. Item 1 is the side we are on: "orderly, trending-up or range-bound tape with LOW VIX." The tape was range-bound and two-sided (SPY 1.20× ATR, QQQ 1.29× ATR, VIX 15.31 LOW), the desk was live but hard-skipped by its own blackout, and its exposure was zero longs, zero shorts, no overnight — every position flat by the close, because there were none. The one honest positive versus prior sessions: SPY reclaimed its SMA20 shelf, so the overhead-level concern carried on 10-01 has, for one session, eased. Watch and report only — a persistent shift goes to Desk Review as a recalibration / sit-out / new-mechanism proposal; I never change posture on a regime signal myself.

Own charter monitor, named as required: the always-long baseline gap — unchanged today, because both arms skipped. MNEME baseline 51 tr / +$1,826.89 vs real +$954.64 → −$872.25; TRACE baseline 40 tr / +$1,467.38 vs real −$388.23 → −$1,855.61; combined gap ≈ −$2,727.86, unchanged (both baseline arms logged the same NFP hard skip). The pre-registered escalation requires the baseline to match or exceed the stack's rolling PF at two consecutive monthly checkpoints; the September Desk Review (window through 09-05) did not escalate and this is not a second checkpoint — so nothing is filed; it is a named watch item for the October review. Gate-clear rate and the two rolling-PF windows (MNEME 15-trade ≈3.1, TRACE 20-trade) are unchanged and quiet.

Open TEMPER Items (Carried Forward / New)

  • MNEME — Window C is the stack's live weak spot (carried; unchanged, no fire). 4W/5L on 9 fires (sub-book PF ≈1.09), last two fires stopped out (08-11 −$44.62; 10-01 −$43.61). Today C never ran (event gate). Open question to TEMPER remains Window C's live character, not a change to the 62% floor or the 0.50 similarity gate. Watch only; nothing filed.
  • MNEME — thin-similarity-clear item (carried; corrected on 10-01, unchanged). Four lowest Phase 3 clears 0.5447 (W), 0.5533 (L), 0.5553 (W), 0.5712 (W) → 3W/1L at N=4; the flat "lowest clears all won" claim stays dead. No new instance today.
  • MNEME — similarity bound once recently (carried; N=1 period / N=2 recent, below bar). 09-29 B: vote cleared 67%, max_sim failed 0.485 vs 0.50 (0.015 graze; nearest prior 09-10 C 0.490). No new instance today.
  • TRACE — DEGRADED clock frozen at 0.245 (carried; unchanged, thinnest of the run). SPRT CONTINUE — n=14, LLR −2.700, 0.245 from the −2.944 boundary. A skip day is not an observation → another deferral, not a pass. Boundary not crossed; the 09-18 desk-PM-review / TEMPER-within-5 protocol not re-triggered. No new information — not re-filed.
  • TRACE — Window A session-character / cross-index-leadership filter (carried; gained no instance, free observation unverifiable). Window A 2W/9L on 11 fires, all 9 losses stop-outs. Today's 9:30–10:00 span was the target window, but no verified DIA print exists (DIA absent from the briefing price block, no signal_detail file) — recorded as a gap, not a negative. Proposal framing unchanged.
  • Desk — always-long baseline gap (carried; unchanged at ≈ −$2,727.86). Both real and baseline arms skipped NFP. Named for the October review; not a second checkpoint — nothing filed.
  • Desk — hard-skip forecast shape (NEW data point, small). The desk printed 0.0 / none / high on both stacks and realized $0 on both → Brier 0.0 twice — the cleansest forecast print on the desk's record, and a genuine point-zero call (not a hedge) on a mechanically-zero day. One instance, nominal behavior; recorded, nothing filed.
  • Desk — candidate-pool contamination watch (NEW benign instance). The plan flagged today's post-print tape as a potential violent one-directional anchor for future non-event KNN queries; the tape was instead a moderate, two-sided fade (SPY 1.20× ATR, QQQ 1.29× ATR, flat last hour, VIX easing). Consistent with TRACE's 2026-07-16 diagnostic ("not load-bearing"). Watch only.
  • Desk — runner reliability (operational, own desk half): CLEAR, third consecutive day. intelligence/runner-health-2026-10-02.md grades all ten agents ok, including both members. Not recurring.
  • Peer-review dispositions — nothing new this period. No peer-review file landed after the 2026-09-25 session (the desk's most recent). Standing dispositions remain verified in force: no per-stack spread printed (withdrawn and not re-filed); no gate-clear-streak conditioning framing; no VIX-as-tailwind or VIX-as-"best" — VIX named as a level only; no N=1 validation claim; the pre-market cross read recorded and not priced; both member sections state the charter as DRAFT — not ratified.

Desk Summary for Orchestrator

House Mneme's 10-02 reflection covers the single session since the 10-01 reflection — Friday 2026-10-02, the desk's weekly-floor day — and both active members hard-skipped it: no fire, no co-fire, desk net $0.00 on 0 trades, combined cumulative unchanged at 41 trades, +$566.41. MNEME (SPY): no_trade:event_day:NFP_tier1 — the deterministic Tier-1 event gate bound by construction, firing before any KNN query, so there is no near-miss row, no vote, no max_sim, no window → REGIME, no calibration signal, nothing to recalibrate; Window C carried unchanged at 4W/5L on 9 fires; forecast 0.0 (high) → no trade → Brier 0.0; SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST, LLR +4.532 (n=27, +$954.64). TRACE (DIA): identical construction — no_trade:event_day:NFP_tier1, REGIME → SPRT CONTINUE, LLR −2.700, 0.245 from DEGRADED — frozen for a third reflection-side session because a skip day is a deferral of the boundary test, not a pass; Window A (2W/9L on 11 fires) gained no instance, and the plan's free 9:30–10:00 observation was unverifiable (no DIA print) — recorded as a gap, not a negative; forecast 0.0 (high) → Brier 0.0. Session: a two-sided post-print fade — NFP +29K vs +90K expected (unemployment 4.2%, AHE +0.1%, revisions −60K) → initial relief bid, then fade from the open; SPY 769.65 (+0.73%, 1.20× ATR, back ABOVE SMA20 764.83), QQQ 749.49 (+1.01%, 1.29× ATR), VIX 15.31 LOW (−1.08); morning narrative grade STUCK; event risk HIGH correct, deterministic skip. Baseline monitor unchanged at ≈ −$2,727.86 (both baseline arms skipped too); runner health CLEAR, third consecutive day. Next session Mon 10-05; next verified Tier-1 FOMC Minutes 10-07 2:00 ET (not a hard skip — both stacks live).

Reflection Filed

  • Filed: 2026-10-02 (post-close; Friday weekly-floor trigger)
  • Trades taken: 0 (both stacks no_trade:event_day:NFP_tier1) — no gate amendment; MNEME v5 (K=15, max_sim ≥ 0.50, vote ≥ 62%) and TRACE v2 (K=10, max_sim ≥ 0.60, vote ≥ 62%) untouched and live
  • GHOST: frozen (Phase 2, Decision D2) — no reflection written

  • Learnings flag (desk-scoped, own members only — not edited into learnings.md by this desk): House Mneme, 2026-10-02 — a deterministic Tier-1 NFP skip day for both stacks (no_trade:event_day:NFP_tier1, fired before signal computation), desk net $0.00; REGIME for both members by construction — no near-miss data exists, no gate grazed, no calibration signal. The desk printed its cleansest forecast to date: 0.0 / high on both stacks, realized $0, Brier 0.0 twice. Carried unchanged: MNEME Window C 4W/5L on 9 fires; TRACE DEGRADED clock frozen at 0.245 (skip day = deferral, not pass); TRACE Window A 2W/9L, free post-print observation unverifiable (no DIA print, recorded as a gap); always-long baseline gap ≈ −$2,727.86. Runner health CLEAR, third consecutive day. No gate edits anywhere.
