Desk Plan — House Mneme — 2026-09-29

Briefing reference: /Users/dadbot/Desktop/ClaudeBod/projects/dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-09-29-pm.md PM: MNEME (independent read of my own desk; D3 superseded 2026-09-23 — this is House Mneme's own opinion. GHOST stays frozen, no plan)

Regime Watch

data-infra/regime/current.json (read 2026-09-29, status: ok): as_of 2026-09-22 — SPY day flat (open-to-close −0.08%), above 50d, drawdown bucket <2% (−0.58%), VIX 14.21 LOW (<18). The file now lags the live tape by five sessions (09-23, 09-24, 09-25, 09-28 and today are not folded in). Not unavailable — the tags it carries are the same shape as the live tape — but named honestly as five sessions behind.

Charter status, stated correctly: DRAFT — not ratified (desks/house-mneme/CLAUDE.md). A consistency verdict is therefore against draft text, not a ratified constraint.

Draft-charter consistency: consistent on substance — no risk-off tag active, and today's tape is calmer than yesterday's, not the hostile side. My persistence rule counts a shift persistent only when at least one risk-off tag — SPY below 50d / drawdown ≥2% / VIX >18 — holds 5 consecutive sessions. None holds, and none is close. This is the first session of the run that sits on item 1 (orderly, range-bound-ish, LOW-VIX tape) rather than item 2 (the selloff side) — which is a description of the weather, not a licence to inflate a forecast off it.

Two indicators are moving, both named:

  1. VIX has paused after two consecutive up-steps: 14.21 → 14.87 → 16.07 → 16.04 (−0.03). Still squarely LOW (<18), and 1.96 points short of the >18 trigger. VIX is not a gate input for either stack — it neither blocks nor licenses. I do not cite the VIX<20 bucket as a tailwind or as a "best" bucket: MNEME's VIX<20 record (PF 2.39 / N=197) is my most-traded LOW bucket with WR 37.6% — my weakest inferential WR — while MID 20–30 is the strongest at PF 3.54 / N=100 / WR 49.0%.
  2. SPY sits essentially ON its SMA20 shelf — and that is the level most likely to move. SPY closed 765.49, just +0.04% above SMA20 765.15 (the 09-28 session pierced the shelf to 763.74 and reclaimed it to the close). The shared charter tag is spy_vs_sma50; the briefing's price block carries SMA20, not SMA50, so I cannot resolve the charter tag live and name the SMA20 shelf as the closest available proxy and say so, rather than asserting a 50-day reading I do not have.

Own charter monitor (non-tag), named as required: the always-long baseline gap. As of the 09-28 books: MNEME baseline 49 trades / +$1,382.95 vs real +$998.25; TRACE baseline 38 trades / +$841.30 vs real −$388.23 — a combined gap of −$1,614.23 across 40 real trades against 87 baseline trades. The pre-registered escalation needs the baseline to match or exceed the stack's rolling PF at two consecutive monthly checkpoints — the September Desk Review (window through 09-05) did not escalate and this is not a second checkpoint — so nothing is filed; named for the October review. Gate-clear rate and the two rolling-PF windows (MNEME 15-trade, TRACE 20-trade) are unchanged and quiet.

Watch and report only — a persistent shift goes to Desk Review as a recalibration / sit-out / new-mechanism proposal; I never change posture on a regime signal myself.

Shared Market Read

  • Event risk today: HIGH — the same headline/geopolitical clock as yesterday, with a scheduled data pair added inside the session. Markets enter still weighing the US-Iran/Hormuz standoff after Trump rejected Iran's latest proposal to reopen the Strait; oil and Treasury yields are the transmission channels, with futures mixed. No scheduled Tier-1 today (next PCE Sep 30, tomorrow; then NFP Oct 2), so the HIGH rating sits on a pure headline/geopolitical clock — un-timeable. Scheduled today: 10:00 ET Conference Board Consumer Confidence (Sep) prior 89.4 (MEDIUM) and JOLTS Job Openings (Aug) 10:00 ET (MEDIUM), plus 10:30 ET Dallas Fed Texas Retail (LOW); CCL/KMX pre-open earnings (MEDIUM, not my instruments). Firm-wide status GO; neither active member hard-skips (blackout = FOMC/CPI/NFP/PCE only — today is none of them, and PCE's proximity to tomorrow does not make today a skip).
  • Session character expected: News-driven and mixed; opening direction not assigned. The watchlist's 06:51 ET snapshot shows S&P futures +0.02%, Nasdaq-100 +0.16%, Dow futures −0.04% — essentially flat, not a broad directional move and not yesterday's risk-off gap-down. Rate-sensitive growth is the named active leg; the briefing still tells us to confirm the gap at the open rather than infer it. I record the pre-open cross-index read as a tape fact, never a p_trade input (standing forecast-discipline rule since 09-24, validated 09-25 and 09-28).
  • VIX regime: 16.04 — LOW (<18), −0.03 from 16.07. Named as a level, not reassurance: VIX is not a gate input for either stack; structure quality is.
  • Key levels: SPY prior close 765.49; prior-day range 763.74 – 769.53 (5.79 pts = 0.83× ATR(14) 7.01); SMA20 765.15 (+0.04% above — the shelf itself). ATR 7.01 → a 1.5× ATR stop is ≈ 10.5 index points. QQQ prior close 736.55, range 731.65 – 741.41, SMA20 721.89 (well above), ATR(14) 9.91. DIA is not in the briefing's price block — TRACE reads it off its own path and flags the print as unverified (best proxies: 09-28 entry 514.92 / stop 513.98 / exit 514.64; 09-28 baseline Window B 513.93 → 514.12; 09-25 baseline hard-flat 517.62).
  • Macro backdrop: the oil-supply shock and long-end yield repricing are still live, into a week whose nearer binary (PCE tomorrow) keeps event risk elevated; today's 10:00 ET data pair is the only scheduled intraday inflection.
The desk-level read — a calmer shape than yesterday, priced at the pooled base rate, not above it

Both active members are long-only, intraday, flat at the close, single position per day. Today the tape is the calmer side: a mixed/near-flat open, VIX LOW and paused, SPY back on its SMA20 shelf, no risk-off tag. That is genuinely less hostile than yesterday's gap-down risk-off open (which the desk discounted to 0.35) — so the number should move up, not stay at 0.35. But it must not move far, because the 10:00 ET Consumer Confidence + JOLTS pair lands directly on Window A's entry bar and at the start of Window B's observation — a real scheduled in-window catalyst that can flip a vote. The honest print is at the measured pooled base rate.

Base rate, computed from the actual logs (not cited from memory): over the last 10 eligible sessions for MNEME (09-15 → 09-28) the stack fired 3 times = 30.0%; over the last 10 eligible sessions for TRACE (same window) it fired 5 times = 50.0% — pooled 8/20 = 40.0%. Wider window, 08-20 → 09-28: MNEME 8/28 = 28.6%, TRACE 7/28 = 25.0%.

What I am explicitly not doing, holding to the desk's standing dispositions:

  1. Not printing a per-stack spread. The per-stack p_trade anchor item was withdrawn on 09-25 and is not re-filed; re-filing it would require pre-registration (stated N, stated window, stated statistic). The realized rates (30% / 50%) are recorded as tape facts, not anchors — today prices one shared anchor.
  2. Not treating a run of gate clears (or a run of misses) as a signal. No "conditioning evidence" framing; today's number is anchored to a measured pooled frequency and a tape shape, nothing else.
  3. Not citing VIX as a tailwind, and not calling it "best." (See Regime Watch.)

Net: the calmer shape moves the print up from yesterday's 0.35 toward the pooled base rate, and the 10:00 data pair holds it at the rate rather than above it. Printed: mneme 0.40 / trace 0.40, both long, both conviction low — not a 0.5-on-everything hedge, not a streak read, and not re-tuned off any single recent session. A same-day co-fire counts as one clustered observation for Family 5.

MNEME — SPY KNN (p_trade 0.40, long, low)

Live, eligible, no hard skip — and this is the calmer, item-1 side of my own charter. No hard skip (blackout = FOMC/CPI/NFP/PCE; today is none, PCE is tomorrow); VIX 16.04 LOW is a level, not a licence. Setup present: possible, at the pooled base rate. My binding gate is the vote (≥62%), not similarity — the recurring shape of my near-misses (09-23: vote 47% in all three windows against 62%, with max_sim clearing 0.50 comfortably; 09-25: A 40%, B 53%, C 60%; 09-28: A 47%, B 47%, C 60% — with similarity clearing 0.50 in every window each session). One correction I carry and will not blur: "similarity never binds me" is a binding claim, not a margin claim — on 09-25 Window B cleared its 0.50 floor by 0.003.

Why 0.40 and not yesterday's 0.35: the 0.35 was made on the hostile side of the charter (headline risk-off, gap-down, rate-sensitive growth the weak leg, VIX up a step); the desk booked it as a good print (Brier 0.1225). Today is the calmer side — mixed/near-flat open, VIX LOW and paused, SPY on its shelf — so the discount shrinks and the number returns toward the pooled base rate. Conviction stays low — the honest level when the number is a measured base rate with a scheduled in-window catalyst and nothing beyond base rate and gate clearance to cite.

  • Window A (observe 9:30–10:00, enter 10:00, hard flat 12:00): A's entry at 10:00 lands exactly on the Consumer Confidence + JOLTS pair — the least settled entry of the three today. Live A is 5W/5L (10 fires); not a window I lean on.
  • Window B (anchor, observe 10:00–12:00, enter 12:00, hard flat 16:00; holdout PF 3.76): the window I want. B observes the post-open tape — and the 10:00 data pair lands at the very start of B's observation, so B reads the market's response to the print rather than the print itself, with the 12:00–16:00 hold carrying no scheduled event. The format that carried 2 of my last 4 fires (09-18 vote 80% → HARD_FLAT +$5.39; 09-22 vote 66.7% → HARD_FLAT +$55.78). Live B 4W/4L (8).
  • Window C (flagged, holdout PF 1.25): observes 12:00–14:00, executes 14:00–15:30 — a catalyst-free Tuesday afternoon and my weakest holdout record. Extra scrutiny as always; suspension rule unchanged (rolling 15-trade PF < 1.2). Live C 4W/4L (8); it has grazed at 60% (9/15) in two consecutive sessions — N=2, one short of the desk's N≥3 bar, watch only.

Sizing: standard 0.75% ($187.50 on $25K), max $75K notional — no adjustment. HIGH event risk here is an un-timeable geopolitical headline plus a scheduled MEDIUM data pair that is not in my blackout (FOMC/CPI/NFP/PCE only) — there is no event-risk reduction the design calls for and no reason to inflate. One position, strongest vote wins.

Key levels: SPY 765.49 prior close; prior range 763.74 – 769.53; SMA20 765.15 (+0.04% — the shelf itself). The 765.15–763.74 shelf is the level that decides the session: holding 765.15 keeps a containment structure under the vote; a decisive break and hold below 765.15 with rate-sensitive growth (QQQ) leading lower is the trend-down tape where longs get stopped, not faded. ATR(14) 7.01 → 1.5× ATR stop ≈ 10.5 points.

Invalidation: SPY gaps >1.5% at the open → stand down entirely. SPY breaks and holds below SMA20 765.15 with QQQ underperforming → stand down entirely (named as a change, not an already-true level — SPY is only +0.04% above SMA20 at the prior close, so a break is a change, and this is the same "breaks and holds" clause the 09-24 reflection fixed and that behaved correctly on 09-25 and 09-28). A further Iran/Hormuz headline either way → no discretionary action; the gates decide and I stand down only on the two hard conditions above. No gate is amended; v5's parameter set (K=15, max_sim ≥ 0.50, vote ≥ 62%) is untouched and stays live. SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST, sticky, LLR +4.802 (n=26, WR 50.0%, cumulative +$998.25) — unchanged since 09-25; nothing to escalate.

TRACE — DIA KNN (p_trade 0.40, long, low)

Live, eligible, no hard skip — priced off the same shared anchor as MNEME, not off its own recent 5/10. No hard skip (today is not FOMC/CPI/NFP/PCE); the 09-05 SIP same-day fix keeps full three-window reads. Setup present: possible, at the pooled base rate. My gate is a joint of two hard conditions — max_sim ≥ 0.60 and vote ≥ 62% (K=10, DIA) — and the two have bound in different windows recently (09-23 the similarity gate in Window B: vote 70% cleared, max_sim 0.519 vs 0.60; 09-24 the vote gate in Window A: 60% vs 62%, a 2-point graze). A higher joint-clear bar is a genuine mechanical reason a session clears less often; it is not the withdrawn per-stack base-rate item, and I do not re-file that here.

The 0.40 is a shared-anchor print, stated plainly. My realized eligible-fire rate is 5/10 = 50.0% over 09-15 → 09-28 (7/28 = 25.0% over 08-20 → 09-28) — recorded as a tape fact, not an anchor. The desk's 09-25 disposition established that a fire rate is gate-clearance frequency, not outcome, and that I will not import a quality judgement into a frequency number. So both stacks print the same 0.40, at the pooled base rate, on today's calmer shape. Conviction: low, held deliberately: per the 09-25 peer review I hold it low for as long as I cannot cite evidence beyond base rate and gate clearance for a higher call — today I cannot.

What I am explicitly not using today: the pre-market index-relative read. The overnight tape names rate-sensitive growth the active weak leg with a flat-to-marginally-lower Dow futures print; if anything the cross points toward DIA's relative firmness, and on 09-24 exactly that reasoning inverted while on 09-25 and 09-28 the refusal to price it was vindicated. It is recorded as a tape fact and kept out of the forecast — standing forecast-discipline rule for this stack.

My Window A failure mode, stated as a base rate rather than buried as a caveat: Window A is 2W/9L on 11 live fires, and all 9 losses are stop-outs — 09-18 stopped in 45 minutes (−$88.45), 09-22 in 15 minutes (−$82.08), 09-25 on its own entry bar (514.89 @10:00 → 514.89 @10:00, $0.00), and 09-28 in 45 minutes (514.92 @10:00 → 514.64 @10:45, −$41.31). Gate fidelity does not discriminate: 09-25 and 09-28 both cleared wide (vote 70.0%, max_sim 0.9215 / 0.8877) and lost; 09-21 cleared similarly (vote 80%, sim 0.9318) and won. The standing item I carry to TEMPER remains a session-character / cross-index-leadership filter for Window A — proposed, never executed.

  • Window A (observe 9:30–10:00, enter 10:00, hard flat 12:00): where I have fired most (11 of 14 live fires) and the window with the worst live record — 2W/9L. A's entry at 10:00 lands on the Consumer Confidence + JOLTS print. The laggard-leg stop-out is the modal path here and it is sized by design, not by headline.
  • Window B (observe 10:00–12:00, enter 12:00, hard flat 16:00) / Window C (observe 12:00–14:00, enter 14:00, hard flat 15:30; rolling 20-trade PF < 1.2 suspension rule): equally welcome on a genuine joint clear of a post-open tape. B's observation opening on the 10:00 print means it reads the response, not the print; C's execution is a catalyst-free Tuesday afternoon. Live B 0W/1L, C 0W/2L — extra scrutiny on C as always.

Sizing: standard 0.75% ($187.50 on $25K), max $75K notional — no adjustment. The DEGRADED clock is explicitly not a sizing or gating input; I size by design, not by headline or by the clock. One position, strongest vote wins.

Key levels: DIA is not in the briefing's price block — these are off my own path, not verified prints, and I say so. Best proxies: 09-28 entry 514.92 / stop 513.98 / exit 514.64, 09-28 baseline Window B 513.93 → 514.12, 09-25 baseline hard-flat 517.62 (≈ a week-ago close). The ~510–511 area (09-24's own base) is the level that must hold to keep a bid under the leg; a decisive break and hold below it with the Dow's rate-sensitives leading lower is the value-leg fade tape where my longs stop out. Internal tell: DIA's energy members (oil is bid on the Hormuz headline) versus the Dow's rate-sensitives — named as a tape fact, not a p_trade input, so I can check afterwards whether it carried any information.

Invalidation: DIA gaps >1.5% at the open → stand down entirely. DIA breaks and holds below the ~510–511 base with the Dow's rate-sensitives leading lower → stand down entirely (named as a change, not a level already true). A further Iran/Hormuz headline either way → no discretionary action; the gates decide. No gate is amended; v2's parameter set (K=10, max_sim ≥ 0.60, vote ≥ 62%) is untouched and stays live. SPRT CONTINUE, LLR −2.700 (n=14, WR 14.3%, 2W/12L, −$388.23), 0.245 from the −2.944 DEGRADED boundary (path 0.888 → 0.534 → 1.305 → 0.952 → 0.952 → 0.598 → 0.245) — the thinnest buffer of the run, but the boundary is not crossed and the 09-18 protocol is not re-triggered. Named as the desk's top watch item, not a change.

Pooled note (Family 5)

Both active members are LIVE and eligible on a firm-wide GO day (no hard skip; no Tier-1 today; PCE 09-30 tomorrow). This is the calmer (item-1) side of the draft charter — mixed/near-flat open, VIX 16.04 LOW and paused, SPY essentially on its SMA20 shelf, no risk-off tag — but "calmer" is a weather description, not a licence. The plan is priced at the pooled base rate, not above it, and not off any streak: measured eligible-fire rates MNEME 3/10 = 30.0% and TRACE 5/10 = 50.0% over 09-15 → 09-28 (wider 08-20 → 09-28: 28.6% / 25.0%), pooled 8/20 = 40.0%; today printed 0.40 / 0.40, both long, both conviction low, off one shared anchor — the per-stack anchor item stays withdrawn and is not re-filed, and the per-stack realized rates are recorded as tape facts, not anchors. The 10:00 ET Consumer Confidence + JOLTS pair, which is not in either stack's blackout, lands on Window A's entry and at the start of Window B's observation and is the reason the print is at the base rate rather than above it. Both member sections remain clear of the four peer-review dispositions (no per-stack spread; no gate-clear-streak conditioning; no VIX-as-tailwind or VIX-as-"best"; no N=1 validation claim) and both state the charter status as DRAFT — not ratified. A same-day co-fire counts as one clustered observation. Monitoring clocks: MNEME SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (n=26, LLR +4.802, +$998.25); TRACE SPRT CONTINUE (n=14, LLR −2.700, 0.245 from DEGRADED, −$388.23) — thinnest of the run, not crossed. Watch item named under Regime Watch: the always-long baseline gap (MNEME baseline 49 tr / +$1,382.95 vs real +$998.25; TRACE baseline 38 tr / +$841.30 vs real −$388.23; combined −$1,614.23) — carried, named for the October review, nothing filed (not a second checkpoint). Runner health: the 09-28 file graded all ten agents ok including both members, breaking a two-session REVIEW run on the Mneme side; today's artifact is not yet available at plan time. GHOST stays frozen (Phase 2, Decision D2) — no plan, no forecast, no member file. Next Tier-1: PCE Sep 30.
