Desk Plan — House Vesper — 2026-09-25

Briefing reference: /Users/dadbot/Desktop/ClaudeBod/projects/dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-09-25-pm.md PM: VESPER — the evening star, the first light after the close.

Regime Watch

Read data-infra/regime/current.json (ASSAY), file refreshed 2026-09-23 21:25 ET, status: ok. as_of 2026-09-22 — now two sessions behind today (09-23 and 09-24 not yet rolled in); treated as available-with-lag and flagged, not substituted for. Values: spy_day flat (spy_open_to_close_pct −0.08), spy_drawdown_bucket <2% (spy_drawdown_pct −0.58), spy_vs_sma50 above 50d, vix 14.21, vix_regime LOW (<18).

  • Which of my charter's indicators are moving: none. All three (spy_drawdown_bucket, vix_regime, spy_vs_sma50) sit in the same state as the last read. Today's live briefing is consistent with the lagged file: VIX 15.36 (−0.31 off 15.67, still LOW <18), SPY prior close 767.29 above its 20-day SMA 765.33 (≈0.26% above), and no drawdown of 5% or more anywhere on the board.
  • Consistency with the ## Regime Charter: consistent. The charter's own persistence rule — drawdown bucket 5-10% or worse, or non-LOW VIX, for five consecutive sessions — is at 0 of 5, in fact the opposite direction: VIX fell back 0.31 today after Tuesday's 16.13 print. The <2% drawdown bucket is the bucket in which the cleared backtest's overnight premium was +3.00 net bps (N=715). Nothing here proposes a recalibration, a sit-out or a new mechanism.
  • Charter status, stated plainly so it is not over-read: DRAFT — not ratified (desks/house-vesper/CLAUDE.md). Today is held to its drafted terms; it is not yet a ratified constraint, and no regime signal changes posture here by itself.
  • Sizing in tail terms (filed 2026-09-24, per the 2026-09-23 peer review — House Slack's critique, disposition acted). Slack was right that I had never derived the tolerance; −11.4% (2022) and −26.5% (COVID) are drawdown accounts, not a one-night figure. From the cleared backtest ledger (backtest_2026-07-12_daily.csv, N=1,759 cycles): worst historical overnight gap = 2020-03-13 → 2020-03-16, gross −1,102.97 bps (net −1,103.97); at 0.90 notional that is −9.93% of equity in one night. Next worst: −700.44 (2020-03-06→09), −649.69 (2020-03-11→12), −532.39 (2020-03-17→18), −410.50 (2024-08-02→05, the yen-carry unwind). Cross-checked against strategy_v1.md's stated tolerance: a −5% gap costs −4.5% of equity, a −10% catastrophic gap costs −9% — both survivable by construction because there is no leverage. The 90% size is a default (strategy_v2.md §Position Sizing: "why 90% and not less" is about not halving a thin edge), not derived from a tail figure; it is unchanged today and flagged for TEMPER or ZEUS rather than silently kept. This is the number that matters most on a weekend-spanning hold: two weekend days of un-priceable headline risk sit inside a tail that costs −9.93% of equity at the historic worst.
  • Watch-only. No indicator state changed; nothing in this section touches the order.

Shared Market Read

  • Event risk today: MEDIUM. No Tier-1 (Bucket A clear; next PCE Sep 30, 5 days — also the Q2 GDP third estimate; then NFP Oct 2, FOMC Minutes Oct 7, CPI Oct 14, FOMC Oct 28). Rated off LOW by the live headline clock, not a scheduled binary: Iran's Foreign Minister Araghchi disclosed a conditional seven-day roadmap (reopen the Strait of Hormuz at the end of day seven if its conditions are met, then comprehensive nuclear talks resume), conveyed through intermediaries and mirroring the June MoU — with the White House not yet responded at reporting time. That clock runs across the weekend; crude pulled back ~1–2% (Brent still >$100, WTI down harder) and the 10-year eased to ~5.16–5.19% off Thursday's ~5.208% near-20-year high. Today's own calendar is loud-but-light: 8:30 ET Advance Durable Goods (cons. ≈ −0.3% / prior +1.1%), 8:30 Advance Wholesale/Retail Inventories, 10:00 Michigan Consumer Sentiment — Final (prelim 47.8 vs Aug 51.7), 1:00 Baker Hughes rig count, and effectively no major S&P 500 earnings reporter (light earnings Friday; the carried Accenture slate is corrected — ACN reports Oct 1). Firm-wide Scanner status GO.
  • Session character expected: Contained, mixed, mildly risk-on at the open — tier polarity and day direction explicitly unassigned. Futures modestly higher with the Nasdaq complex leading (roughly +0.5–0.6% vs +0.2–0.3% for S&P/Dow) on a narrow, catalyst-driven AI/chip bid (AMD, Marvell, Cerebras, Intel ~+2%; Meta near a fifth straight weekly gain), capped by crude above $100 and the 10-year near 5.2%. The four prior sessions all resolved at or inside ~1.0× ATR, so the base case is containment, not expansion. The briefing's own call, adopted: "contained, shape available, direction unknown" — no pre-assigning index direction, and (per the 09-24 EOD fix directive) no pre-assigning tier polarity either; the tech/AI leg is named the two-sided swing leg. Relevance to my mechanics: none — I am flat by 09:31 and never in the market while it is open. The character that matters to me is the overnight and weekend one.
  • VIX regime: 15.36 (−0.31 vs prior close 15.67) — LOW (<18), and the regime in which the overnight premium has historically accrued (HIGH-VIX bucket: +6.68 net bps, N=198; but the premium is positive across all buckets under 10% drawdown). Logged by every stack that buckets it; never a gate for me (no VIX filter by design — considered and rejected in Phase 2). A methodology note on the level, not the state: 15.36 is a falling print and 1.15 VIX points above the regime file's 14.21 — the low-vol band is intact and this is not a stress reading.
  • Key levels: SPY prior close 767.29, prior-day range 763.25–768.94, above SMA20 765.33, ATR(14) daily 6.70 — trailing ATR is not elevated, so on the briefing's own ±0.5% rule anything outside ~763.5–771.1 at the open would be a genuine gap, not noise. QQQ prior close 741.09, prior-day range 734.66–742.63, above SMA20 719.72, ATR(14) 9.37. Both legs sit above their 20-day SMAs, so the levels that matter are yesterday's session extremes, not new volatility bands. My only levels are my own anchors: cycle 51's entry — 767.09 (Thu 09-24 16:00 auction-inclusive SIP close; 29.9783 shares, $22,996.03 notional, 90.0% of $25,551.14 equity — currently held, exiting 09:31 ET this morning) and tonight's 16:00 auction print (cycle 52's entry, the weekend hold). The exit is temporal, not price-based. Anchor context so a few-bps gap is not misread: the 16:00 auction print (767.09) sat 2.607 bps below the consolidated close (767.29) — the designed anchor is the auction-inclusive SIP bar, not the reported close (P27).
  • Macro backdrop: A hawkish-Fed / high-yields regime with a live geopolitical headline channel — Chair Warsh hiked Sep 16 (first since 2023), the long end sits near multi-decade highs with October priced ~77.5% for a move, the dollar marginally softer, oil above $100 but easing on the Iran offer, Asia and Europe higher, and the White House's response to Iran's conditional offer pending. Two threads the briefing carries that a weekend hold must weigh: the Hormuz clock (crude's level, not just its direction) and the rates ceiling (10-yr near 5.2%) — the briefing's own Monday directive names both as weekend-gap-capable.
  • The overnight window's own inventory (the only character I trade), and it is a weekend: Cycle 51's leg (Thu 16:00 → this morning's 09:31) carried Costco's Q4 beat and its after-hours reaction, the Iran/Hormuz roadmap headline (post-entry), and Friday's 8:30 ET Durable Goods + Michigan final ~61 minutes before my exit anchor. Cycle 52's leg (tonight 16:00 → Mon 09-28 09:31) is a three-day weekend hold — it carries the Hormuz seven-day clock across Saturday and Sunday, a full weekend in which no search surface reliably captures developments, the Asia/Europe reaction on Monday's open, and no scheduled Tier-1 print (next is PCE Sep 30). That is the honest basis for tonight's med conviction: the width of a weekend two-sided tail — a credible step toward reopening is a relief bid, a rejection or hardening counter-demand re-arms the squeeze — not a size instruction and not a skip.

vesper — SPY (PM: VESPER)

Forecast: p_trade 1.0, direction long, conviction med.

Cycle state, stated explicitly because it is the load-bearing detail: today's re-entry is the weekendspanning hold. Cycle 51 (Thu 09-24 16:00 entry 767.09, 29.9783 shares, $22,996.03 notional, 90.0% of $25,551.14 equity) exits at today's 09:31 bar open — a real long trade booked today, which is why p_trade is 1.0 and not a judgment call. At 15:50 ET tonight I submit the MOC buy for cycle 52 at today's 16:00 auction-inclusive close, 90% of post-exit equity, held into Mon 09-28 09:31 — held through the weekend. Yesterday's plan could say "no hold of mine spans the weekend"; today cannot. Cycle 52 is the weekend hold, and it is the leg that carries the Iran/Hormuz clock, un-timeable and two-sided, across Saturday and Sunday. A headline landing after the European close today — or over the weekend — cannot be traded today; it can only be gapped through on Monday, and cycle 52 is the position that gaps.

On conviction, stated plainly so it cannot be misread as a skip or a de-risk: VESPER has no signal gate, no event filter and no skip logic — the overnight hold is taken every session, so p_trade is 1.0 by construction both legs. The med is not doubt about whether the trade happens (that is certain) and it is not permission to size down: it is the honest ex-ante discount on the width of tonight's two-sided tail. The meds this desk has used — seven of 46 prior plans (09-11 CPI carry, the 09-14/15/16 FOMC sequence, 09-22, 09-23, and 09-24) — were all nights whose complement of the trading day was genuinely populated; every macro-silent night has been high. Tonight qualifies, and is the strongest med case of the sequence: a three-day weekend hold with the Hormuz seven-day clock running through it, a full weekend of un-searchable development, and no Tier-1 print to anchor the Monday open. A 15.36 VIX and a genuinely two-sided weekend headline channel are what a wider tail looks like; a wider tail is what the premium is paid for, not something to hedge by fiat. I do not de-risk into it and I do not skip it.

Cycle 51's resolution belongs to this morning, and its content was as advertised. It was held at standard 90% into a populated Thursday night — Costco's post-close beat, the post-entry Hormuz roadmap headline, and Durable Goods + Michigan 61 minutes before the exit — and whatever the 09:31 print shows, it is logged as one draw, not a finding. An unconditional stack has no elegant story about a single night; my mean over 50 completed cycles is +4.9506 net bps/day (SD 48.492, SE 6.858 → ~0.26 SE above the 3.151 replication anchor) with a realized net range of −122.77 to +114.89 bps and a win rate of 56.0% (28/50) — not my benchmark, by design: WR on a drift edge is a coin flip. Two consecutive losses (09-23 −14.32, 09-24 −49.14 net bps) do not change the size, the anchor, or the skip logic.

  • Setup present: Yes — by design, always. There is no setup to wait for and no condition that would suppress one. Both legs answered unconditionally at the standard anchors.
  • Session-character fit: Perfect by construction — the stack is never in the market while it is open, so today's mildly-higher tech-led opening, the 8:30 durable-goods dust, and the 10:00 Michigan final cannot touch me. Flat by 09:31. The character that matters is the overnight-and-weekend one, read above.
  • What today's MEDIUM changes about the order: nothing. No event-calendar skip (considered and rejected in Phase 2, strategy_v2.md §Entry Rules 5), no conditioned sizing, no direction flip, no early entry, no skip (rules 4 & 5). Any conditioning would have to first beat the unconditional baseline in a Bench study — none exists — without destroying the ~250 obs/yr validation velocity. The cleared sample (n=1,759) held every FOMC, CPI, NFP, PCE, expiry and rebalance night, and every weekend, by construction. Tonight is an ordinary (weekend) draw from the same distribution, and the risk is the premium.

Monitors check (direct run — run live for this plan, 2026-09-25):

  • Mechanism watch: GREEN — n=2,191 overnight pairs, last exit 2026-09-24; trailing-250 +6.356 bps/day, trailing-500 +4.071 bps/day vs the 0.655 kill floor (~9.7× / ~6.2× above); full-sample +4.082. ==> OK: premium intact. No DEGRADED flag. Nothing new has rolled in since yesterday's reflection (last exit 09-24 is already in the series; cycle 51's exit rolls in at today's 16:30 ET refresh), so the windows are unchanged from the 09-24 read. Stated so the read is not over-read (filed per the 2026-09-23 peer review, Reversal/Wicker, disposition acted): +6.356 is not "the premium." The full-sample mean is +4.082 and my live 50-cycle mean is +4.951; the honest expectation is reversion toward ~4 bps/day, and either window could fall back toward it without the mechanism being impaired. The kill floor sits ~9.7× below.
  • Early-warning tier — evidence attached, proposal only, floor untouched (Wicker's second point, disposition investigating, advanced 09-24). A hard floor with no expectation band cannot flag a decay from +6.4 to +2.0. I computed the in-sample distribution of trailing-250 before proposing any N (backtest_2026-07-12_daily.csv, 1,510 trailing windows off 1,759 cycles): median +3.578, p10 −2.314, p5 −3.126, p1 −5.155, min −8.201, max +20.668; 45.2% (682/1,510) of in-sample windows sat below the 3.151 anchor, in 22 runs (longest 432; p90 run 28). So "trailing-250 below the anchor for N consecutive sessions" with N ≤ 28 would have fired routinely inside the validated sample and flagged behaviour the strategy is cleared to endure. If this tier is worth having, N must be set well above the observed p90 run (order 60–100+). Filed to TEMPER with this distribution; nothing here changes the kill rule, the floor, or any gate. No alert today: +6.356 is ~2.0× the anchor.
  • Execution-cost SPRT: CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (sticky since obs #8, 2026-07-27; flagged: []), n=50, LLR +18.750. Simulation only — fills price at the anchors, shortfall ≡ 0; decision-relevant only against real broker fills. No realized-cost failure to fix — and no independent cost evidence in simulation (the honest restatement accepted in the 09-24 reflection: paper_trade.py L221 charges COST_BPS/1.0 = 1.0 bps of entry notional by construction, so the ≈1.0 bps line cannot bind in simulation). Cycle 51's exit rolls in at today's 16:30 ET refresh.
  • Edge SPRT: CONTINUE (n=50, LLR +0.068) — formal-only; cannot decide at realistic samples (~18.6 yr). CONTINUE is not evidence of edge, and that honesty label cuts against reading any single night — mine included, and including the two losses just booked at the identical 90% — as evidence of anything.
  • Plan calibration, cited correctly: 46 scored sessions (intelligence/plan-calibration.csv, all rows p_trade 1.0 / long / Brier 0.0). Per the 2026-09-23 peer review (House Slack and Reversal, both independently), that perfect Brier is vacuous for an unconditional stack — p_trade is 1.0 by construction, so the desk cannot miss. It is not cited here as evidence of calibration or skill. The scored-session count is the only information in it.

Continuity note for the desk record: 50 completed cycles, cumulative net +$551.14 (gross +$665.04, commissions $113.89), mean +4.9506 net bps/day (SD 48.492, SE 6.858 → ~0.26 SE above the 3.151 anchor), realized net range −122.77 to +114.89 bps, WR 56.0% (28/50) — not my benchmark. Recent cycle outcomes: 45 +114.89 (record win) / 46 −18.31 / 47 +127.70 / 48 +23.38 / 49 −33.11 / 50 −113.49 net (−49.14 net bps, the 7th-worst of 50). Cycle 51 (Thu 09-24 16:00 entry 767.09 → Fri 09-25 09:31) exits 09:31 ET this morning, and cycle 52 enters tonight at standard 90% into a weekend carry. The 08-07 dispatch hole and the 09-02 reflection gap remain the only record gaps.

Invalidation: None structural. An unconditional strategy has no invalidation condition by design. The kill discipline is the mechanism watch on market data (trailing-250 and trailing-500 < 0.655 bps/day gross → TEMPER review), checked daily, not resolvable intra-session, and not conditional on the Hormuz clock, the White House response, durable goods, Michigan, oil, the Fed, the 10-yr or the semis. Tonight's cycle 52 has no skip trigger by design (rules 4 & 5) — it carries today's close through the weekend regardless of what any headline lays down before Monday's open. If Monday's 09:31 open gaps against cycle 52, I take and log it; that is the price of the premium. A 2022-regime drawdown (≈ −11.4% on equity at 0.9 notional) is within tolerance and is not a kill signal; the −26.5% COVID drawdown (2020-02-12 → 2020-03-23, 8-month recovery) is inside the validated sample; the worst single night in that sample cost −9.93% of equity at today's 90% (tail-terms line, Regime Watch). The only stand-downs are force-majeure (closing-auction failure, account/regulatory constraint, exchange halt) — none indicated.

What I am watching: (1) Cycle 51's 09:31 exit print vs entry 767.09 — the Thursday-close carry, resolving on a pre-market of modestly-higher, tech-led futures with the Hormuz clock live; no pre-assigned direction, either branch is one observation, not a finding. (2) Tonight's 16:00 auction print for cycle 52 — the anchor itself; entered at standard 90% unconditionally, and held through the weekend. The only mechanical risk is a failed or erratic closing auction (a force-majeure stand-down class), not the price it prints. (3) The Iran/Hormuz seven-day clock across the weekend — the single most concrete exposure on cycle 52; a credible step toward reopening is a relief bid, a rejection re-arms the squeeze, and neither can be traded today, only gapped through on Monday. (4) Monday's open gap vs cycle 52 — the weekend hold's resolution is the only place this leg can cost me in size; that is the premium's price, not a signal. (5) The mechanism watch stays GREEN (trailing-250 +6.356 / −500 +4.071 vs 0.655 bps/day, ~9.7× / ~6.2× above) — the only number that can ever stop me, and the number I expect to revert toward ~4 rather than hold at 6.4. After 09:31, flat and idle until 15:50 — doing exactly nothing, which is the discipline.

Plan Filed

  • Filed: 2026-09-25 04:50 PDT
  • Frontmatter forecasts complete for every active member: yes (vesper: p_trade 1.0, direction long, conviction med)
  • Cycle state: cycle 51 exits at this morning's 09:31 open; cycle 52 enters at tonight's 16:00 auction close at standard 90% and IS the weekend-spanning hold (Fri 09-25 16:00 → Mon 09-28 09:31) — the leg that carries the Iran/Hormuz clock through the weekend
  • Mechanism watch confirms premium intact: yes — direct run 2026-09-25: trailing-250 +6.356 / trailing-500 +4.071 bps/day vs the 0.655 kill threshold (n=2,191 pairs, last exit 2026-09-24; full-sample +4.082) — GREEN, no DEGRADED flag; expected reversion toward ~4 stated, early-warning tier filed to TEMPER with the in-sample trailing-250 distribution (median +3.578; 45.2% of windows below the 3.151 anchor; longest run 432 sessions) and no floor change
  • Cost budget confirmed: no realized-cost failure to fix; no independent cost evidence in simulation (the 09-24 honest restatement); execution-cost SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (n=50, LLR +18.750, flagged: []), edge SPRT CONTINUE (formal-only, not evidence of edge)
  • Event risk today: MEDIUM — no Tier-1 (next PCE Sep 30, 5 days); the live channel is the Iran/Hormuz seven-day conditional roadmap, whose clock runs across the weekend. Firm-wide Scanner GO; VESPER's cadence is unconditional and overrides the framing — the overnight hold is taken every session, size unchanged at 90%, including the weekend hold
  • Regime watch: data-infra/regime/current.json read (status: ok, as_of 2026-09-22, two sessions behind — available-with-lag, flagged not substituted): drawdown bucket <2%, VIX regime LOW, SPY above 50d. None of the charter's indicators moving; persistence rule at 0 of 5; plan consistent with the drafted charter (DRAFT — not ratified); sizing stated in tail terms (worst historical night −1,102.97 gross bps = −9.93% of equity at 0.9) with the 90% default flagged for TEMPER/ZEUS
  • Peer-review dispositions carried into this plan: tail-terms sizing line (carried, and load-bearing on a weekend hold); vacuous Brier no longer cited as calibration (done); stale "desk-blind" line (dropped); early-warning tier filed with a computed N basis, no floor change (filed to TEMPER); realized-cost line restated honestly (done)

House Vesper — Desk Reflection — 2026-09-25

Plan reference: desks/house-vesper/plans/2026-09-25-plan.md EOD briefing: dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-09-25-eod.md PM: VESPER — the evening star, the first light after the close.

What Happened (desk level)

One desk, one member, one unconditional overnight stack. Single-session window since the 09-24 filing. Cycle 51 — the ordinary Thursday→Friday carry I entered Thu 09-24 16:00 at the auction-inclusive anchor 767.09 ($22,996.03 notional, 29.9783 shares, 90.0% of $25,551.14) — resolved this morning as a WIN: exit print 768.15 at the 09:31 bar open, +$31.78 gross / +$29.48 net (+13.8185 gross / +12.8185 net bps), commission $2.30 = 1.0002 bps. That ends the two-loss run (cycle 49 −33.11, cycle 50 −113.49 net bps) and is the 21st-best of the 51 completed cycles — a modest draw on the winning side, taken identically to every other night, standard 90%, no de-risk off two losses and no re-size waiting for a win.

The honest detail is the same shape as the last two nights, and it now has a two-night run rather than a flip. Cycle 51's exit (768.15 at 09:31) landed −0.0715% versus the day's open (768.70) — essentially on it — $1.83 above the session low (766.32), and −0.4149% BELOW the eventual close (771.35). The overnight leg itself was real and positive: my entry 767.09 carried to a 09:31 print 768.15, a +0.138% gap that the session then extended — SPY +0.34% off the open, +0.53% on the day to 771.35, a contained, broad, Dow-led advance (true range 5.94 = 0.87× ATR), VIX 14.87. The driver was oil: Brent −2.8% to $97.44 on Iran's reiterated conditional seven-day Hormuz proposal (still unaccepted), which pulled the 10-yr off its intraday 5.22% high and passed straight into equities; Costco +2.9% on its Thursday-night beat, and the morning's own prints (Durable Goods ≈0.0% vs cons. −0.3%, a modest beat; Michigan final 48.1, revised up from the 47.8 prelim) were subordinate, as the AM predicted. Stated once, without a strategy implication: a hold-to-the-consolidated-close variant would have exited 771.35 for about +54.5 bps net instead of +12.82 — 41.7 bps better tonight, 43.7 bps better on 09-24, and 59.6 bps worse on 09-23. Two consecutive nights where the close ran above my 09:31 print, after one where it ran below, is still what a two-sided draw looks like — not an argument for a price-based exit. The exit is defined by the clock (P27) and evaluated over 250 observations, not the last three.

Cycle 52 then opened at tonight's 16:00 anchor — and it is the weekend hold. Entry 771.40 at the 16:00 auction-inclusive SIP print, $23,022.56 notional (29.8452 shares, 90.0% of post-exit equity $25,580.62), held into Mon 09-28 09:31 — through Saturday and Sunday. Standard size, unconditionally (rules 4 & 5): no skip, no sized-down de-risk of the weekend, no special handling of the med conviction the plan carried into it. Anchor coherence note, filed so it is not re-derived as a discrepancy: tonight's 16:00 auction-inclusive print (771.40) sits +0.648 bps ABOVE the EOD's consolidated SPY close (771.35) — the same sign class and the same few-bps magnitude as the 09-24 (2.607 bps below) and 09-23 (3.907 bps below) prints. That is the designed anchor (P27): I trade the auction-inclusive 16:00 SIP bar, not the reported consolidated close. The anchor printed clean; the only stand-down class (a failed or erratic closing auction) did not occur; and cycle 52 is now the position that carries the Iran/Hormuz clock across a full un-searchable weekend.

Continuity for the desk record: 51 completed cycles, cumulative net +$580.62 (gross +$696.82, commissions $116.19), mean +5.1049 net bps/day vs the 3.151 anchor (SD 48.017, SE 6.724 → ~0.29 SE above), win rate 56.9% (29/51) — not the benchmark. Realized net range to date: −122.77 to +114.89 bps (unchanged). Cycle 51's +12.82 net bps pulled the realized mean from +4.9506 (n=50) to +5.1049 (n=51) — a +0.15 bps/day step, the mirror of cycle 50's −1.10 and a fraction of its size; the pre-registered oscillation continues. Plan calibration: the 09-25 row is already scored clean (plan-calibration.csv: p_trade 1.0 → traded 1, direction long → long hit, Brier 0.0), the 47th scored session, all at Brier 0.0. Per the 2026-09-23 peer-review disposition this Brier is no longer cited as evidence of calibration (vacuous for an unconditional stack); the scored-session count is the only information in it. The 09-02 reflection gap and the 08-07 dispatch hole remain the only record gaps.

The Load-Bearing Question: What Was the Binding Gate This Period?

No gate bound this period — neither regime nor calibration in the terms the question defines them — and the one distance that does print a value printed at its boundary by construction, not by measurement. For an unconditional stack there is no setup gate to bind and no threshold to graze: the blocked= near-miss notes are empty by construction, always, and no p_trade gate was ever under consideration (p_trade 1.0, direction long, by design). Cycle 51's +12.82 net bps is an ordinary two-sided draw on the winning side, taken identically to the way cycle 50's −49.14 and the record +114.89 were taken — one trade, standard 90%, no skip.

  • Mechanism watch (the only gate that can ever stop this desk) — direct run for this reflection (2026-09-25): GREEN, n=2192 overnight pairs, last exit 2026-09-25; trailing-250 +6.358 / trailing-500 +4.074 bps/day gross vs the 0.655 floor (~9.7× / ~6.2× above), full-sample +4.086. ==> OK: premium intact. No DEGRADED flag, nothing appended to monitor-flags.md, no TEMPER review. The two-window condition (P12) is not close: both windows would have to fall below 0.655. Cycle 51's +13.82 gross night lifted all three statistics, as cycle 50's loss had moved them in three different directions — trailing-250 +6.356 → +6.358, trailing-500 +4.071 → +4.074, full-sample +4.082 → +4.086. The windows are window rolls as much as readings: a win barely moved them and a loss had raised the 250-window. The only thing that matters about the margin is its size, and it remains roughly an order of magnitude clear of the floor. One good night does not validate a mechanism any more than one bad night threatened it.
  • Realized-cost check (the pre-registered execution budget, ≤ 1.0 bps/day round-trip) — printed at the budget: commission $2.30 on $22,996.03 notional = 1.0002 bps; the gross→net bps step is exactly 1.0000; roundtrip_shortfall_bps = 0.0000. Stated in the honest form accepted on 09-24 and already landed in learnings.md (2026-09-24, type: monitoring): the check is arithmetically fixed at ≈1.0 bps by the simulator, not measured — agents/vesper/paper_trade.py L221 charges COST_BPS/1e4 × notional with COST_BPS = 1.0 — so in simulation the realized-cost distance cannot bind. It is decision-relevant only against real broker fills, the same honesty label the execution-cost SPRT already carries. No realized-cost failure to fix — and no independent cost evidence either. No gate change, no re-sizing, and no unilateral tweak to the cost model (that is a TEMPER/ZEUS question if it is anything). Not re-filed below: it is a closed item.
  • Execution-cost Gaussian SPRT (decision-capable — decision-relevant only against real broker fills): CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST, n=51, LLR +19.125 (sticky since obs #8, 2026-07-27), flagged: []. Simulation only — fills price at the anchors, shortfall ≡ 0.
  • Edge Gaussian SPRT (formal-only): CONTINUE, n=51, LLR +0.072, E[N] ≈ 4655.9 obs (~18.6 yr). CONTINUE is not evidence of edge — and that honesty label cuts against reading today's +12.82 as evidence of survival exactly as hard as it cut against reading cycle 50's −49.14 as evidence of decay.

Were the pre-registered kill/watch distances right for the session? Yes — and the session is the cleanest test yet of why the temporal distance is the only one this desk carries. The plan pre-registered exactly two distances: the realized-cost budget (≤ 1.0 bps/day) and the mechanism-watch kill floor (trailing-250 and trailing-500 gross < 0.655 → TEMPER review), and it deliberately pre-registered no price-based watch — the exit is temporal, not price-based. Both were correct for the session: the kill distance was never within 6× of binding, and the cost distance printed at its line for the structural reason above. The session also re-demonstrated, from the winning side, why a price watch is the wrong instrument: a stop or a "sell the close" rule would have exited better tonight (+41.7 bps) and on 09-24 (+43.7 bps), and worse on 09-23 (−59.6 bps). The distance that mattered today was the temporal one — 09:31 versus 16:00 — and over 51 cycles it is the only distance that has ever decided anything.

The one honest calibration note, logged so it is not re-litigated as hindsight. The plan's med conviction was the ex-ante statement that the weekend hold's two-sided tail is wider than a macro-silent night — earned on the Iran/Hormuz seven-day clock running across Saturday and Sunday, a full weekend of un-searchable development, and no Tier-1 print to anchor the Monday open. It was not a weak directional call, not a skip, and not permission to size down, and nothing about it changed the order: cycle 52 was submitted at the standard 90% like every other night. The Friday morning outcome the med was not about — the relief bid that carried the day — resolved in the direction my plan named ("a credible step toward reopening is a dis-inflationary relief bid for high-multiple equities"), and the weekend tail the med is about is now open, carried by cycle 52 through Monday's 09:31. Its resolution is one observation, not a finding — and my exit tonight participated in only the first minute of a day that then ran 41.7 bps further without me.

Regime Watch

Read data-infra/regime/current.json (ASSAY), file refreshed 2026-09-23 21:25 ET, status: ok; as_of 2026-09-22 — now three sessions behind today (09-23, 09-24 and 09-25 not yet rolled in); treated as available-with-lag and flagged, not substituted for. Values: spy_day flat (spy_open_to_close_pct −0.08), spy_drawdown_bucket <2% (spy_drawdown_pct −0.58), spy_vs_sma50 above 50d, vix 14.21, vix_regime LOW (<18). None of the three charter indicators (spy_drawdown_bucket, vix_regime, spy_vs_sma50) is moving, and today's live briefing is consistent with the lagged file: SPY closed 771.35, above its 20-day SMA 765.34; VIX 14.87 (−0.80 vs 15.67), still squarely LOW; no drawdown of 5% or more anywhere on the board. The charter's persistence rule is at 0 of 5 sessions, and <2% is the bucket in which the cleared backtest's overnight premium was +3.00 net bps (N=715). Charter status: DRAFT — not ratified (desks/house-vesper/CLAUDE.md) — I am held to its drafted terms, not a ratified constraint. Today's plan was consistent with it: I held through a populated Thursday→Friday night at full standard size and then took the weekend hold unconditionally, exactly clause 2 of the drafted charter ("I hold through it. There is no signal, filter, stop or sit-out"). Watch and report only, nothing here changes posture.

Plan Accuracy (desk level)

DimensionRating (1–5)Notes
Event risk call4MEDIUM held. No Tier-1 (next PCE Sep 30, 5 days), and the plan named the live channel precisely: the Iran/Hormuz seven-day conditional roadmap, with both branches written out — "a credible step toward reopening is a relief bid, a rejection or hardening counter-demand re-arms the squeeze." The tape delivered the relief branch: Brent −2.8% to $97.44, equities up, the 10-yr off its intraday 5.22% high. The morning's own two reads were subordinate, as predicted: Durable Goods ≈0.0% (cons. −0.3%, a modest beat) and Michigan final 48.1, revised up from the 47.8 prelim. One honest deduction, and it is the AM's, not mine: the AM flagged the possibility of a further downward Michigan revision, which did not occur. Rated correctly, and this time the live channel was named first, not second
Session character call5My character read — "contained, mixed, mildly risk-on at the open — tier polarity and day direction explicitly unassigned" — held on every leg, and the refusal was vindicated: the session resolved contained (SPY true range 5.94 = 0.87× ATR, VIX 14.87 LOW), mildly up (+0.53%), and broad/Dow-led (Dow +0.9% vs S&P +0.5% / Nasdaq +0.5%), i.e. a shape with no polarity available to be wrong about — and the pre-open "Nasdaq leading" futures read did not carry to the close. The AM's own EOD grade on the two-tier check is STUCK (refusal vindicated). No cost or credit to me: my only character surface is the overnight leg, and it printed a positive gap
Setup prediction5Unconditional — the only forecast is exit/entry placement, and both landed exactly where pre-registered: cycle 51 exited the 09:31 bar open at 768.15, and cycle 52 entered 771.40 at the 16:00 auction-inclusive close at standard 90% size ($23,022.56 notional / 29.8452 shares), held into Mon 09-28 09:31 — no skip, no conditioned sizing, no de-risk of the weekend
Adjustments5None made — 90% notional, 16:00 auction-inclusive anchor, 09:31 exit, all standard. Seventh consecutive session of the same discipline with no drift: +114.89, −18.31, +55.54, +10.12, −14.32, −49.14, +12.82 net bps — no de-risk "off a win," no re-size "after a loss," no special handling of the med conviction, and no relief-sizing after the two losses ended. Cost realized 1.0002 bps — at the ≤ 1.0 bps/day budget line by construction (the 09-24 finding, already landed), roundtrip_shortfall_bps = 0.0. No stand-down condition indicated

Overall plan accuracy: 4.75 / 5. Machine-scored: the 09-25 plan forecast p_trade 1.0 / long / med; cycle 51's exit booked a real long trade today (traded = 1), direction long → long hit — Brier 0.0, extending the perfect scored run to 47 sessions (plan-calibration.csv line: 2026-09-25,house-vesper,vesper,1.0,long,med,1,1,long,1,0.0). The scoring subtlety, restated: "direction hit" means the booked trade was long, as forecast — the score does NOT care that the long was a small winner, any more than it cared that yesterday's long lost money. Calibration captures setup-firing fidelity, trivially perfect for an unconditional stack by design.

Learnings (desk level)

  • The temporal exit sat below the consolidated close for a second consecutive session (−43.7 bps on 09-24, −41.5 bps on 09-25) after sitting 59.6 bps above it on 09-23. Cycle 51's 09:31 print (768.15) landed essentially on the day's open (768.70, −0.0715%) and $1.83 above the session low, while the tape then ran +0.34% off the open to close 771.35 — so a hold-to-close would have been ~41.7 bps better tonight. Two nights in the same direction after one in the other is still a run, not evidence, and it is the reason the exit is a clock (P27) chosen over 1,759 cycles, not a rule fitted to the last three sessions. Filed once as desk-record color; no strategy implication (rules 4 & 5 untouched, no conditional exit contemplated, and any such proposal would have to beat the unconditional baseline in a Bench study first).
  • One good night moved the three mechanism-watch statistics together, and barely. Cycle 51's +13.82 gross night took trailing-250 from +6.356 to +6.358, trailing-500 from +4.071 to +4.074, and full-sample from +4.082 to +4.086. Read together with cycle 50, where a loss raised the 250-window: the trailing windows are window rolls as much as readings, so no single night, win or loss, is evidence about the mechanism, in either direction. The kill discipline is measured on market data, never on the night's P&L (rule 4), and the market data says premium intact at ~9.7× / 6.2× the floor.
  • Check performed, nothing new filed this period. I checked backtest-agent/learnings.md before filing, per standing instruction. The candidate items were all examined and declined: (1) the realized-cost check is arithmetic in simulation item is already landed (learnings.md 2026-09-24, type: monitoring) — re-filing would re-file a filed item; today's 1.0002 bps print is the same number for the same structural reason. (2) The mechanism-watch silent-cache-fallback item stays RESOLVED (2026-09-04) — today's direct run returns a live as-of-today read (n=2192, last exit 2026-09-25). (3) The EOD-generator mechanism-watch line item is unchanged today — the shared EOD desk-summary again makes no mechanism-watch assertion for this desk (a fifth consecutive omission, 09-21 through 09-25), so the eight-session false-escalation streak (09-08 through 09-18) stays broken in output. Stated honestly: the line is omitted, not corrected, and a fifth identical omission is not a new finding class. Standing convention unchanged: the direct daily run governs; if the generator resumes asserting any mechanism-watch status for this desk, treat it as unreliable until a correctly-populated line is observed. Nothing else new — so no [x] Flag for learnings.md this period.
  • Record-keeping, self-caught, unchanged convention: the auto-generated performance/daily_2026-09-25.md again opens "No trade taken today" / Session P&L $0.00 even though its own cumulative line (n=51, +$580.62 net, WR 56.9%) correctly carries cycle 51's realized +$29.48 and reconciles to the ledger to the cent — and today's shared EOD desk-summary inherits it ("no trade today, but a live entry"). On an exit day the exit leg books a real trade at 09:31 and cycle 52's position-open is a separate no_trade:position_opened row; the generator reads the open row, not the exit. Unchanged generator convention, not a new gap — the trades.csv row is the record. Also unchanged and not a data error: the perf log's SPY daily return prints N/A.
  • Operational: no runner-starvation recurrence; runner-health-2026-09-25.md lists vesper completed with today's artifact present (ok). Both trades.csv rows reconcile to the ledger exactly (cycle 51 exit at 09:31:00 on 768.15; cycle 52 position-open at 771.40 / $23,022.56, open_position in state/position_ledger.json, equity_at_entry $25,580.62). Mechanism watch (GREEN, ~9.7× / ~6.2× floor, n=2192, live as-of today), execution-cost SPRT (CONSISTENT, n=51) and edge SPRT (CONTINUE, n=51) all ran clean. Not mine to own, noted only because the firm-wide health verdict is REVIEW: SURGE and TRACE are failed_or_timeout with missing daily artifacts — flagged as unconfirmed rather than quiet, and for their own desks and TEMPER.

Desk Summary (orchestrator-facing)

  • VESPER (SPY, unconditional overnight): cycle 51 — the ordinary Thu 09-24 → Fri 09-25 carry (entry 767.09, $22,996.03 notional) — exited this morning at the 09:31 bar open 768.15: a WIN, +$31.78 gross / +$29.48 net (+13.8185 / +12.8185 bps), the 21st-best of 51 cycles, ending the two-loss run (49 −33.11, 50 −113.49 net bps), taken at the same standard 90% as the record +114.89 and every loss around it; realized cost 1.0002 bps, roundtrip_shortfall_bps = 0.0. Today the temporal exit again left bps on the table, and it is filed as such: the 09:31 print sat essentially on the day's open (768.70, −0.0715%) and $1.83 above the session low (766.32), −0.4149% BELOW the close (771.35) — a second consecutive night below the close after 09-23's 59.6 bps above it. Cycle 52 entered tonight at 771.40 ($23,022.56 notional / 29.8452 sh, 90.0% of $25,580.62 equity) — and it IS the weekend hold (Fri 16:00 → Mon 09-28 09:31), the leg that carries the Iran/Hormuz clock through Saturday/Sunday — held unconditionally, no skip, no sized-down de-risk (rules 4 & 5); tonight's 16:00 auction print sat +0.648 bps above the consolidated close (771.35) — the designed anchor (P27), not a discrepancy. Monitors: realized-cost 1.0002 bps, at the ≤ 1.0 bps budget line by construction — no realized-cost failure to fix; no independent cost evidence in simulation (item already landed in learnings.md); execution-cost SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (n=51, LLR +19.125, flagged: []); edge SPRT CONTINUE (formal-only, not evidence of edge); mechanism watch GREEN — trailing-250 +6.358 / −500 +4.074 vs the 0.655 floor (n=2192 pairs, last exit 2026-09-25; ~9.7× / ~6.2× above), full-sample +4.086, premium intact — a winning night moved all three only marginally, window rolls as much as readings. Cumulative +$580.62 net over 51 completed cycles (gross +$696.82, commissions $116.19), mean +5.1049 net bps/day (SD 48.017, SE 6.724 → ~0.29 SE above the 3.151 anchor), WR 56.9% (not the benchmark). Regime watch: current.json status: ok, as_of 2026-09-22 — three sessions behind, available-with-lag, flagged; spy_drawdown_bucket <2%, vix_regime LOW, spy_vs_sma50 above 50d; none of the charter's three indicators moving, persistence rule 0 of 5, plan consistent with the drafted (unratified) charter.
  • Watching: (1) Cycle 52's Mon 09-28 09:31 exit — the weekend hold (771.40 entry, held unconditionally at standard size), whose window contains the Iran/Hormuz seven-day clock across Saturday and Sunday, a full weekend of un-searchable development, the Asia/Europe reaction at Monday's open, and no scheduled Tier-1 print (next PCE Sep 30); a credible step toward reopening is a relief bid, a rejection re-arms the squeeze, and neither can be traded — only gapped through on Monday. (2) The mechanism watch — trailing-250 +6.358 / −500 +4.074 vs 0.655, the only number that can ever stop this desk, with the standing expectation of reversion toward ~4 (full-sample +4.086). (3) The realized-cost check — prints ~1.0 bps by construction in simulation and can only ever bind against real fills; no breach on record, no independent cost evidence either. (4) Whether the EOD generator's mechanism-watch line returns or is corrected — a fifth consecutive omission (09-21→09-25), already on file; the direct daily run governs. No skip by design.

Reflection Filed

  • Filed: 2026-09-25 (EOD reflection run, 15:38 PDT)
  • Desk-blind rule: peer-review access per D3-superseded; no other desk's directory read or referenced in this reflection
  • Peer-review items carried (the 2026-09-23 session, dispositions acted — no new critique has landed since the 09-24 reflection): tail-terms sizing line (carried); vacuous Brier no longer cited as calibration (done, restated above); stale "desk-blind" line (dropped); early-warning tier filed to TEMPER with a computed N basis, no floor change (filed); realized-cost line restated honestly (done, and already landed in learnings.md 2026-09-24).
  • Next-session event risk (from EOD briefing, Monday's calendar): LOW — no Tier-1 within the next ~3 calendar days (next: PCE Sep 30, with the Q2 GDP third estimate and Micron's FQ4 the same day; then NFP Oct 2, FOMC Minutes Oct 7, CPI Oct 14, FOMC Oct 28). The live channel is unscheduled and un-timeable: the Iran/Hormuz seven-day clock runs across the weekend, unaccepted by the White House, and cycle 52 is the position that gaps through it. VESPER's cadence is unaffected: cycle 52 (Fri 09-25 16:00 entry 771.40 → Mon 09-28 09:31) is held unconditionally at standard 90% size (rules 4 & 5) — no skip, no sized-down de-risk, and nothing about today's +12.82 (or the two losses before it) changes the size of the next trade by a single share. Friday's cycle 52 is the weekend-spanning hold.
