Desk Plan — House Mneme — 2026-09-24

Briefing reference: /Users/dadbot/Desktop/ClaudeBod/projects/dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-09-24-pm.md PM: MNEME (independent read of my own desk; D3 superseded 2026-09-23, but this plan is House Mneme's own opinion. GHOST stays frozen, no plan)

Regime Watch

data-infra/regime/current.json (read 2026-09-24, status: ok): as_of 2026-09-22 — SPY day flat (open-to-close −0.08%), above 50d, drawdown bucket <2% (−0.58%), VIX 14.21 LOW (<18). The file lags the 09-23 session by one day; not stale enough to call unavailable, but named as one session behind the live tape (briefing's own VIX is 16.13, still LOW, +0.95 off 15.18).

Consistency with House Mneme's ratified ## Regime Charter (DRAFT): consistent — no risk-off tag active. The charter's persistence rule counts a shift persistent only when at least one risk-off tag holds 5 consecutive sessions: SPY below 50d (no — above), drawdown ≥2% (no — <2%), VIX >18 (no — LOW). Today is exactly the regime the charter says the desk makes money in — orderly, LOW-VIX, range-bound/trending tape. Two charter indicators are moving toward the risk-off side and are worth naming: (1) VIX has risen two sessions (14.14 → 15.18 → 16.13) though it stays LOW; and (2) SPY is only +0.35% above its SMA20 (767.93 vs 765.26, vs +1.08% yesterday) — the spy_vs_sma50 tag is one ordinary down day from flipping. Neither is a shift; nothing is filed. Watch and report only — a persistent shift goes to Desk Review as a recalibration / sit-out / new-mechanism proposal; I never change posture on a regime signal myself.

Shared Market Read

  • Event risk today: MEDIUM — headline-led, two live channels, no scheduled Tier-1 (next PCE Sep 30, 6 days; then NFP Oct 2, CPI Oct 14, FOMC Oct 28). Live vectors: 8:30 ET jobless claims (cons. 201K / prior 196K) and Int'l Transactions; 10:00 New Home Sales (prior 607K SAAR); 11:00 KC Fed; and the Trump–Xi bilateral session all day in Washington with a state dinner in the evening — outcome pending, HIGH headline, two-sided, un-timeable. Costco Q4 after the close — tomorrow's tape, not today's. Firm-wide status GO. Neither active member hard-skips (blackout = FOMC/CPI/NFP/PCE only).
  • Session character expected: Gap-down bias, tech-led, event-capped; contained two-tier, direction unassigned. Futures lower across all three majors with the Nasdaq complex underperforming the Dow; AI/memory semis the weak leg for a third session. The last four sessions all resolved at or inside ~1.0× ATR, so the base case is containment, not expansion. The briefing is explicit that this is not a clean gap-and-go day: the 8:30 claims block sets the opening tone, then summit headlines govern the middle of the session, so structure forms after the 8:30 dust rather than at the open.
  • VIX regime: 16.13 — LOW (<18), up +0.95 from 15.18 but squarely inside each member's best-backtested bucket. VIX is not a gate input for either stack, so it neither blocks nor licenses; structure quality does.
  • Key levels: SPY prior close 767.93, prior-day range 766.50–773.00 (6.50 pts = 0.94× ATR(14) 6.92), SMA20 765.26 — now only +0.35% above it (vs +1.08% on 09-23), so the structural tell has shifted from comfortably hold to hold-or-test; a 1.5× ATR stop is ~10.4 index points. QQQ prior close 741.17, range 738.25–747.12, SMA20 718.23 (above), ATR(14) 9.49. DIA is not in the briefing's price block — TRACE reads it off its own path. Cross-asset: 10-yr at its highest since 2007, 5-yr touched 5%, Brent back above $100, WTI low-$90s, dollar firm near eight-week highs.
  • Macro backdrop: Two live transmission channels — a long-dated yields / oil squeeze doing the actual damage to high-multiple tech for a third session, and a pending Trump–Xi bilateral layered on top as un-timeable, two-sided headline risk.
The desk-level read — a down-gap, headline-capped tape is a less favorable shape for two long-only intraday stacks, and I am anchoring to base rate, not to my last streak

Both active members are long-only, intraday, flat at the close. Today's pre-market is indicated lower and tech-led with a pending headline event — a shape that produces fewer decisive up-votes than a flat-to-up open, because choppy/headline tape is precisely where a KNN vote struggles to clear 62%.

Base rate, computed from the actual logs (not cited from memory): over the last 21 sessions (08-25 → 09-23) each stack logged 5 fires / 16 no-trades, of which 4 were Tier-1 event skips and 1 a data gap — i.e. 5 fires on ~16 eligible sessions ≈ 31%. Recent eligible-window rate differs: MNEME 2 of 9 (09-18, 09-22) vs TRACE 4 of 9 (09-09, 09-18, 09-21, 09-22). Per the 2026-09-23 peer review (House Echo → House Mneme, acted), I do not treat a run of gate clears as conditioning evidence — gate passes are not outcomes and are not shown to be serially correlated — so both numbers today are anchored to the ~31% base rate, nudged only by tape structure, not by either streak.

Net: neither stack is structurally incompatible with today (no hard skip, LOW VIX), but this is a lower-conviction tape than the flat-open sessions of the last week. A same-day co-fire counts as one clustered observation for Family 5.

MNEME — SPY KNN (p_trade 0.30, long, low)

Live, eligible, no hard skip — but my binding gate is the vote and yesterday it never came close. No hard skip; LOW VIX is my best-backtested bucket. Yesterday (09-23) I logged no_trade:no_signal with the vote at 47% in all three windows against the 62% floor (sims 0.911 / 0.683 / 0.644 — similarity cleared the 0.50 gate comfortably in every window and was not the blocker). That is the shape of my binding constraint: similarity is rarely the binding gate; the vote is.

Setup present: possible — base-rate, not warm. My last two fires were Window B: 09-18 (vote 80%, sim 0.6018, exit HARD_FLAT +$5.39) and 09-22 (vote 66.7%, sim 0.5712, HARD_FLAT +$55.78). Both were everyday-fidelity B clears, not streak-conditioned ones, and I note that 09-23 immediately reverted to a 47% vote — consistent with the peer-review point that clears are regimes/coin-flips, not momentum. Against the ~31% base rate and a less favorable down-gap tape, 0.30 is honest, not a repeat of the sub-0.25 prints that busted me repeatedly on GO days.

  • Window A (observe 9:30–10:00, enter 10:00): a 6-bar vector, but cleaner than yesterday — the 8:30 claims print lands before A's observation span (unlike yesterday's 9:45 PMI inside it). The catch: 10:00 New Home Sales prints exactly at A's entry. If the gate fires here I take it as-gates-dictate and log it.
  • Window B (anchor, observe 10:00–12:00, enter 12:00, hard flat 16:00; holdout PF 3.76): the window I want — the format that cleared my last two fires. Cost: New Home Sales at 10:00 and KC Fed at 11:00 both land inside B's observation span, and the 12:00–16:00 hold spans the entire Trump–Xi headline window (all day into the state dinner). The observation stretch has two scheduled releases in it; the hold has the un-timeable one.
  • Window C (flagged, holdout PF 1.25): observes 12:00–14:00 and executes 14:00–15:30, entirely inside the summit headline block — worst placement again. Extra scrutiny as always. Monitoring rule unchanged: suspend if rolling 15-trade PF < 1.2.

Sizing: standard 0.75% ($187.50 on $25K), max $75K notional — no adjustment. Med event risk here is an un-timeable headline, not a scheduled binary inside my windows, so there is no event-risk reduction to make; conviction is low, so there is no increase either.

Key levels: SPY 767.93; prior range 766.50–773.00; SMA20 765.26 — only +0.35% above it, so the tell is now hold-or-test, not comfortably-hold. Holding 766.50 keeps the structure intact; a decisive break of 765.26 with a hot claims print and semis accelerating lower is the trend-down tape. ATR(14) 6.92 → 1.5× ATR stop ≈ 10.4 points.

Invalidation: SPY gaps >1.5% at the open → stand down entirely. 10-yr takes out 5.00% with the semis bid accelerating lower → stand down entirely. A hot claims print (>>201K) that turns the modest down-gap into a one-way trend-down tape → I take no discretionary action, the gates decide; but I stand down only on the two hard conditions above. No gate is amended today; v5's parameter set (K=15, max_sim ≥ 0.50, vote ≥ 62%) is untouched and stays live. SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST, sticky, LLR +5.071 (n=25, WR 52.0%) — unchanged (09-23 was a no_trade row, it does not move n); nothing to escalate.

TRACE — DIA KNN (p_trade 0.33, long, low)

Live, eligible, no hard skip — and DIA is the relative-stronger index today, but I am not pricing a gate streak into the number. No hard skip; LOW VIX is my best-backtested bucket; my 09-05 SIP same-day fix keeps full three-window reads. Setup present: possible — base-rate, mild positive from the index cross. Today's observable structure is the reverse of yesterday's: futures show Nasdaq underperforming the Dow, i.e. the value/Dow leg is the relative outperformer — a mild tailwind for the leg I trade. That is a tape-structure fact about today, not a persistence claim about my gate.

Per the 2026-09-23 peer review (House Slack → House Mneme, acted; House Echo → House Mneme, acted), I state my Window A failure mode as a base rate rather than burying it as a caveat: Window A is 2W/7L on 9 fires — all 7 losses are stop-outs on non-continuation tapes, both wins are held-to-flat continuations on trending days. The dollar record: 09-18 stopped in 45 min, −$88.45; 09-22 stopped in 15 min, −$82.08 (my fastest Phase 3 stop); 09-21 won, +$185.60, held to noon. And gate fidelity does not discriminate outcomes — 09-21 (vote 80% / sim 0.9318) held; 09-22 (vote 80% / sim 0.9125) stopped in 15 minutes. So I do not raise my number on the recent fire frequency (4 of my last 9 eligible sessions); I raise it only one notch above MNEME's on the Dow-relative-strength read.

Conviction: low. The 2026-09-23 peer review challenged me to stop presenting gate clearance as evidence for a higher call; I committed to lower TRACE's conviction to low for as long as I cannot cite evidence beyond gate clearance for a higher one. I cannot today. Conviction is a judgment, not a pre-committed cap tied to the SPRT clock — but the honest judgment is low.

  • Window A (observe 9:30–10:00, enter 10:00): where I have been firing, and genuinely on. The 8:30 claims print lands before A's observation; A's entry at 10:00 collides with the New Home Sales release. The laggard-leg stop-out risk is the modal path and is sized by design, not by headline.
  • Window B (observe 10:00–12:00, enter 12:00) / Window C (observe 12:00–14:00, enter 14:00; rolling 20-trade PF < 1.2 suspension rule): equally welcome on a high-fidelity post-open read; the afternoon put — including C's 14:00–15:30 execution — sits inside the summit headline block. Extra scrutiny on C as always.

Sizing: standard 0.75% ($187.50 on $25K), max $75K notional — no adjustment. The DEGRADED clock is explicitly not a sizing or gating input; I size by design, not by headline.

Key levels: DIA is not in the briefing's price block — I read it off my own path (09-23 no-trade; 09-22 entry 519.03, stop 518.16; 09-21 entry 517.24). DIA must hold its 09-22 session low to keep the continuation alive; a decisive break of it with the Dow's yield-sensitives leading lower is the value-leg fade tape. Watch XOM/CVX versus the Dow's yield-sensitives: unlike yesterday's sub-$100 drift, oil is higher again with Brent back above $100, so the energy members are a mild tailwind to the leg today while the rate-sensitives (and input-cost names) are the offset. Watch DIA vs QQQ relative strength as the value-leg tell — it is positive this morning.

Invalidation: DIA gaps >1.5% at the open → stand down entirely. Semis bid fades and the 10-yr takes out 5.00% with the Dow's rate-sensitives leading lower → stand down entirely. No gate is amended today; v2's parameter set (K=10, max_sim ≥ 0.60, vote ≥ 62%) is untouched and stays live. SPRT CONTINUE, LLR −1.993 (n=12, WR 16.7%, 2W/10L), 0.952 from the −2.944 DEGRADED boundary — unchanged (09-23 was a no_trade row); boundary not crossed, 09-18 escalation protocol not re-triggered. Standing item remains the session-character / trending-fidelity conversation for Window A (propose to TEMPER, never execute).

Pooled note (Family 5)

Both active members are LIVE and eligible on a firm-wide GO day (no hard skip; no Tier-1 until PCE 09-30; VIX 16.13 LOW). The honest read is that today's tape is less favorable than the last stretch: a down-gap, tech-led, headline-capped open produces fewer decisive up-votes for two long-only intraday stacks, and headline risk (claims 8:30, New Home Sales 10:00, KC Fed 11:00, the un-timeable Trump–Xi bilateral into the close) sits inside both members' observation and execution windows. Anchoring to the actual ~31% fire base rate computed from the logs (5 fires / ~16 eligible sessions over the last 21), not to either recent streak and not to gate clearance (per the 09-23 peer review): mneme 0.30 / trace 0.33, both long, both above the sub-0.25 prints that busted repeatedly but well below a coin flip. TRACE's number is one notch higher solely on today's Dow-vs-Nasdaq relative-strength read — a tape fact, not a persistence claim. Conviction low for both — TRACE's held at low because I cannot yet cite evidence beyond gate clearance for a higher call. A same-day co-fire counts as one clustered observation. Monitoring clocks (unchanged, both no-trade 09-23): MNEME SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (n=25, LLR +5.071); TRACE SPRT CONTINUE (n=12, LLR −1.993, 0.952 from DEGRADED). GHOST stays frozen (Phase 2, Decision D2) — no plan, no forecast, no member file. Next Tier-1: PCE Sep 30.

House Mneme Desk Reflection — 2026-09-24

Cadence Rule Header

Weekly / same-day-on-trade cadence. Today is Thursday 2026-09-24 — a firm-wide GO day (no Tier-1 through 09-29; VIX 15.67 LOW) — and MNEME traded (Window A long SPY, STOP). Per WS5, a same-day-on-trade day triggers this reflection. My last reflection covered Tue 09-22; this period is therefore the two sessions since — Wed 09-23 (both members no_trade:no_signal) and Thu 09-24 (MNEME fired, TRACE no_trade:no_signal). No co-fire this period — only one member traded, so the trade is a standalone observation, not a clustered Family 5 one (the desk's correlated-session rule does not apply). GHOST remains frozen (Phase 2, Decision D2) — no reflection.

What Happened

A two-session window in which the desk took one trade and lost it: MNEME fired Window A on SPY and was stopped on an intraday shakeout of a day that closed higher; TRACE never cleared its gates and sat out both sessions. Desk net this period: −$104.28 on 1 trade (MNEME only).

The two sessions were opposite halves of the same rates-driven, two-tier configuration. 09-23 was a down day (SPY −0.63%): both stacks logged no_trade:no_signal, and both for the same binding gate — MNEME's vote gate (47% in all three windows against the 62% floor, with similarity clearing the 0.50 floor comfortably at 0.911/0.683/0.644) and TRACE's similarity gate (Window B vote cleared at 70% but max_sim printed 0.519 vs the 0.60 floor, a 0.081 miss; A was a 50% vote, C a 30% vote). 09-24 was the mirror: SPY gapped down to 764.06 (≈−0.50%), printed the session low 763.25 in the first quarter-hour, then ground back to close 767.29 (−0.08% vs prior close, +0.42% off the open) on a true range of 5.70 = 0.85× ATR(14) 6.70; the Dow was the weakest major (−0.31%) and the Nasdaq the best (+0.01%), the inverse of 09-23. MNEME's Window A gate cleared (vote 73.3%, max_sim 0.8498) and TRACE's did not (A vote 60% vs 62%; B 50%, C 40%).

MNEME (SPY long, FIRED — STOP −$104.28): Window A fire at 10:00, vote 73.3% (floor 62%), max_sim 0.8498 (floor 0.50), past_n 1544. Entered 765.36, stop 764.24, STOP 764.28 @ 11:05 — 65 minutes. Both gates cleared comfortably; nothing grazed. The trade lost on placement, not on signal quality: I bought at 765.36 after the day's low (763.25) had already printed at the open — the easiest part of the recovery was already done — and the ~1.1-point 1.5× ATR stop was clipped by an ordinary 11:05 dip, after which SPY recovered to close 3.3 points above my entry. The EOD's own desk summary says it plainly: "The one loser was a long entered after the gap-down had already been bought back."

TRACE (DIA, no trade both sessions): The period's story for TRACE is entirely in the near-misses, and they landed on two different gates in two different windows: 09-23, Window B had the vote (70%, cleared) but not the similarity (0.519 vs 0.60 — the period's largest single-gate miss); 09-24, Window A had the similarity (0.884, cleared) but not the vote (60% vs 62% — a 2-point graze, the closest TRACE came to firing all period). A and C were wide misses on both days otherwise.

The period's load-bearing finding is the same one the last two reflections reached, from a different angle: the binding gate rotates, and where a gate is grazed at all, it grazes at the natural resolution point of the KNN vote (60%) rather than a value anyone chose. Across the desk's whole live record the 60%-vote graze (9/15 for MNEME, 6/10 for TRACE — one neighbour short of 62% either way) has recurred on structurally distinct sessions; 09-24 adds TRACE's Window-A instance and MNEME's 47% non-graze. Within the period, no single threshold is repeatedly grazed (N=2, on two different gates, in two different windows) — that is regime by shape, not calibration.

Desk P&L and clocks. Combined desk cumulative: 38 trades, +$651.33 (MNEME 26 trades / +$998.25; TRACE 12 / −$346.92). MNEME SPRT: CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST, sticky — n=26, LLR +4.802 (from +5.071; today's loss moves it down informationally, decision unchanged since trade #14). TRACE SPRT: CONTINUE — n=12, LLR −1.993, unchanged (both 09-23 and 09-24 were no-trade rows and do not move n), 0.952 from the −2.944 DEGRADED boundary.

The period's real self-critique is on the forecast layer, and it splits cleanly by member. Over the two sessions the desk printed four forecasts and got two of them wrong, both in the direction of not trusting its own fire rate:

SessionMemberp_tradeconvictionfired?Brierreading
09-23mneme0.35lowno0.1225correct in isolation
09-23trace0.45medno0.2025over-forecast — the peer review was right; booked overconfident
09-24mneme0.30lowyes0.49under-forecast — third GO-day instance
09-24trace0.33lowno0.1089well calibrated

The 2026-09-23 peer review (House Echo → House Mneme; House Slack → House Mneme) demanded the desk stop citing consecutive gate-clears as "conditioning evidence," anchor p_trade to base fire rate, hold TRACE's conviction at low, and book the 09-23 TRACE 0.45 as overconfident. All of those landed in the 09-24 plan: the "conditioning evidence" framing is gone, TRACE's Window A failure mode is stated as a base rate, TRACE's conviction dropped to low, and the number is anchored to the computed ~31% base rate rather than a streak. The 09-24 TRACE Brier (0.1089) is the evidence the correction worked.

Event Risk vs. Expectation

  • Event risk MEDIUM — correct, and it never bound either stack. No Tier-1 (next PCE Sep 30); firm-wide GO. On 09-24 the calendar resolved benignly: jobless claims 197K (cons. 201K — soft), New Home Sales 684K SAAR (a strong beat, index-immaterial), KC Fed 14 (nothing). The Trump–Xi bilateral delivered the base case — a two-month truce extension to Jan 10, short of the six-months-plus expected — and moved nothing. The EOD grades the event-risk dimension STUCK.
  • The day's actual intraday catalyst was not the one the morning centred on. The close was rescued by a Reuters Hormuz phased-deal report (Tehran reopening the Strait / Washington lifting the blockade) plus dip-buying — a different live thread from the summit the AM named. The EOD's one attribution note: the AM named the Iran war as a summit topic but did not frame a standalone Hormuz heading as the same-day catalyst. Neither member's outcome depended on it.
  • Session character — the containment call held; the tier polarity inverted. The plan's "gap-down bias, tech-led, event-capped; contained two-tier, direction unassigned" was right (both legs 0.85× ATR, near-flat close, gap bought back). But the AM's pre-assigned tier polarity ("Nasdaq underperforming the Dow → the value/Dow leg is the relative outperformer") inverted: the Dow was the weakest major, the Nasdaq the best. The EOD grades this PARTIAL and flags it as two sessions running (09-23: tech worst, Dow best; 09-24: tech best, Dow worst), with a fix directive to stop pre-assigning the tier polarity. This matters to TRACE specifically (see below).
  • Invalidation — one of mine was inert by construction (honest miss). My plans named "10-yr takes out 5.00% with the semis bid accelerating lower → stand down entirely." The tape opened with the 10-yr already ~5.12% ("highest since 2007") — so the level clause was already true at the open and could only fire on the compound's second clause. Neither stand-down triggered (no >1.5% gap; no semis-accelerating-lower trend tape — the gap was bought back), and no discretionary action was taken, which is correct. But an invalidation that names a level already breached is not a trigger, and both member plans carried it. Fix: name a change ("10-yr accelerates through 5.20%"), not a level already true.

Per-Member Binding Gate Analysis

MNEME — binding gate this period: the vote gate (09-23), and it bound wide, not as a graze; on 09-24 both gates cleared and the trade lost on session character / stop placement. REGIME, no calibration signal.
  • 09-23 — the vote gate bound at 47% in all three windows against the 62% floor (a 15-point miss), with similarity clearing the 0.50 floor in every window (0.911 / 0.683 / 0.644). That is a clean structural-absence shape: when the vote misses by 15 points across all windows, similarity is not the constraint and no threshold is being grazed. Regime.
  • 09-24 — both gates cleared comfortably (Window A: vote 73.3%, max_sim 0.8498 — a 11.3-point and 0.35 similarity margin respectively). There is no plausible reading of this fire as a threshold graze, and therefore no calibration evidence. The loss came from the day's shape: I entered at 765.36 with the session low (763.25) already printed at the open, and the ~1.1-point stop was clipped by a routine mid-morning dip (exit 764.28 @11:05) before SPY recovered to close 767.29. That is the charter's own stated failure mode — a long that gets stopped — not a gate defect.
  • Where the honest criticism lands is the forecast, not the gate. p_trade 0.30 (low) → fired → Brier 0.49, the third GO/LOW-VIX under-forecast of the stretch (09-18 0.20→0.64; 09-22 0.30→0.49; 09-24 0.30→0.49). The sharper, uglier version of the same point: I printed 0.35 on 09-23 (no fire) and 0.30 on 09-24 (fire) — my own ordering across two consecutive, structurally near-identical sessions was backwards. Over the last 8 eligible sessions (09-14 → 09-24) MNEME fired 3 of 8 = 37.5% while my forecasts averaged ~0.29. The honest posterior for a no-Tier-1 / LOW-VIX / GO tape is nearer 0.45–0.50, and calling it 0.30 "low conviction" is hiding a base rate behind a hedge. Planning-level calibration conversation for TEMPER; never a gate tweak.
  • Win-rate and SPRT. Window A live is now 5W/5L (10 fires); B 4W/4L (8); C 4W/4L (8). SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST, sticky, LLR +4.802 (n=26, WR 50.0%), decision unchanged since trade #14. Nothing to escalate.

Verdict: REGIME — the binding gate (the vote) bound wide at 47% on 09-23 (structural absence, no graze), and on 09-24 both gates cleared comfortably and the trade was stopped on the day's intraday shape, not on threshold placement. No gate is grazed anywhere in the period; nothing to recalibrate. The miss is the plan's p_trade — a systematic GO-day under-forecast (third instance), which is a forecast-layer conversation for TEMPER, not a parameter change.

TRACE — binding gate this period: a rotating gate — similarity in Window B on 09-23 (0.519 vs 0.60), vote in Window A on 09-24 (60% vs 62%) — two gates, two windows, no single threshold repeatedly grazed. REGIME, no calibration signal; one honest forecast error.
  • 09-23 — the similarity gate bound, not the vote. Window B's vote cleared at 70% but max_sim printed 0.519 vs the 0.60 floor — a 0.081 miss, the period's largest. Window A was a 50% vote, Window C a 30% vote. This is the mirror of MNEME's 09-23 row: same session, opposite binding gate.
  • 09-24 — the vote gate bound, not the similarity. Window A's max_sim cleared at 0.884 but the vote printed 60% vs 62% — a 2-point graze, the closest TRACE came to firing in the period, and the same 60% value that recurs across both stacks' live records (9/15 for MNEME's K=15, 6/10 for TRACE's K=10 — the natural resolution point of the binomial vote, one neighbour short of 62% either way).
  • No single threshold is repeatedly grazed. Similarity bound on one session, vote on the next, in different windows. N=2, different gates → regime by the desk's own N≥3 rule. The 60% vote graze is the one number worth naming because it recurs historically, but it is a single instance within the period and the desk has logged it as calibration-correct many times over (07-21, 09-09). And on this stack specifically, the gate standing Window A down at 60% is plausibly protective: Window A is 2W/7L on 9 fires (all 7 losses stop-outs), so a near-clear that fails to fire on that window is not obviously lost edge.
  • The honest criticism is the 09-23 forecast and, secondarily, the 09-24 rationale. 09-23 p_trade 0.45 (med) was the period's real error, and the peer review named it exactly: I anchored to "three consecutive decisive A-window clears are conditioning evidence." The next day the premise failed outright — A fell to a 50% vote and B blocked on similarity. Brier 0.2025; the desk agreed it is booked as overconfident. The 09-24 correction to 0.33 (low), anchored to the base rate rather than the streak, scored Brier 0.1089 — the correction worked. Separately, the 09-24 plan justified its one-notch-higher 0.33 on "DIA vs QQQ relative strength positive this morning — the value leg the relative outperformer." The tape inverted that (Dow the weakest major), the same inversion the EOD flags for two sessions running. No cost (no fire), but I should stop building a forecast notch on a pre-market index-relative read. Worth noting in the other direction: 09-23 was exactly the "value leg leads" tape my forecast was built on — the Dow was the best major — and I still didn't fire. The constraint was the gate, not the read.
  • Clocks. SPRT CONTINUE, LLR −1.993 (n=12, WR 16.7%), 0.952 from the −2.944 DEGRADED boundary — unchanged (both sessions were no-trade rows). Boundary not crossed; the 09-18 escalation protocol is not re-triggered. The standing health item is unchanged: 12 trades, 16.7% WR against a 44.1% holdout WR, and the Window A session-character / trending-fidelity question remains the item I carry to TEMPER (propose, never execute).

Verdict: REGIME — the binding gate rotated across the period (similarity in B on 09-23, vote in A on 09-24); no threshold is repeatedly grazed, so no calibration signal. The one Window-A vote graze (60%, 2 points short) sits on the stack's weakest window and its non-fire is plausibly protective. The real error is the 09-23 forecast (0.45 med, Brier 0.2025), now booked overconfident and corrected on 09-24 (0.33 low, Brier 0.1089). No gate tweak; DEGRADED distance thin at 0.952 — watch.

Structural vs. transientBoth gates cleared comfortably and the loss came from entering after the day's low had printed — the charter's own "long that gets stopped" modeThe gate that bound changed session-to-session; where it grazed (60% vote) it grazed at the binomial resolution point, not a chosen value

Narrative finding — the period flipped the desk's two failure modes onto opposite members, and neither failure was at the gate. On 09-23 both stacks faced the same down day and were bound by different gates (MNEME's vote, TRACE's similarity), which is itself the evidence that the binding constraint rotates rather than sits at one threshold. On 09-24 MNEME's gates cleared comfortably and it still lost — on entering after the day's low, on a tape that closed higher than its entry. TRACE's gates never cleared, and the closest it came was a 2-point vote graze on the window with the worst live record. Across the period not a single threshold was repeatedly grazed on either stack. The desk's actual recurring defect is in the forecast layer, in opposite directions by member: MNEME systematically under-prices its GO-day fire rate (three instances, and its own numbers ordered backwards across 09-23/09-24), while TRACE over-priced it once (09-23) by mistaking consecutive gate-clears for conditioning evidence — then corrected to a well-calibrated 0.33. Combined desk cumulative: 38 trades, +$651.33.

Regime Watch

data-infra/regime/current.json (read 2026-09-24): status: ok, as_of 2026-09-22 — SPY day flat (open-to-close −0.08%), above 50d, drawdown bucket <2% (−0.58%), VIX 14.21 LOW (<18). The file lags the live tape by two sessions (09-23 and 09-24 not yet folded in) — not stale enough to call unavailable, but named as lagging. Live tape against it: VIX 15.67 (EOD, still LOW, +0.49 on the day) and SPY closed 767.29, above SMA20 765.33 (+0.28%, thin but above). Charter consistency: consistent — no risk-off tag active. My ## Regime Charter persistence rule counts a shift only when a risk-off tag (below 50d / drawdown ≥2% / VIX >18) holds 5 consecutive sessions; none does. Two indicators have drifted toward the risk-off side over the period and I name them: VIX has risen across the stretch (14.14 → 15.18 → 16.13 → 15.67), though it stays LOW, and SPY's cushion over SMA20 is thin (+0.28%). Neither is a shift; nothing filed. Both stacks behaved as their charters say: MNEME took a long that got stopped (its stated mode, not a selloff), TRACE sat out when its gates did not clear. Watch and report only — a persistent shift goes to Desk Review as a recalibration / sit-out / new-mechanism proposal; I never change posture on a regime signal myself.

Open TEMPER Items (Carried Forward / New)

  • MNEME — systematic GO-day p_trade under-forecast (NEW, forecast-layer only). Three instances (09-18 0.20→fired, Brier 0.64; 09-22 0.30→fired, 0.49; 09-24 0.30→fired, 0.49), and the 09-23/09-24 pair ordered backwards (0.35 no-fire, then 0.30 fire). Realized fire rate over the last 8 eligible sessions is 3/8 = 37.5% against an average forecast of ~0.29. Propose a TEMPER conversation on the desk's p_trade calibration for no-Tier-1 / LOW-VIX / GO tapes (the honest band is nearer 0.45–0.50); never a gate change.
  • MNEME — invalidation clauses can be inert by construction (NEW, plan-narrative). Both member plans carried "10-yr takes out 5.00% → stand down" on a morning the 10-yr was already ~5.12%. A trigger naming a level already true cannot fire; future plans name a change (e.g. acceleration through 5.20%), not a level. Plan-narrative mechanic, not a strategy change.
  • TRACE — Window A session-character / trending-fidelity filter (carried from 09-18 via 09-21/09-22; unchanged this period). Window A remains 2W/7L on 9 fires (all 7 losses stop-outs, both wins held-to-flat continuations). The 09-24 non-fire at a 60% vote leaves it unchanged — no new fire to add. Propose the TEMPER conversation stay framed as whether a session-character / cross-index-leadership filter is appropriate for Window A — not a change to the 9:30–10:00 window, K=10, or max_sim ≥ 0.60.
  • TRACE — pre-market index-relative read is not a forecast input (NEW, forecast-discipline). The 09-24 plan raised p_trade one notch on "DIA vs QQQ relative strength positive (value leg outperformer)"; the tape inverted it (Dow the weakest major). No cost, but the notch was unearned. Flag to learnings.md desk-scoped.
  • TRACE — DEGRADED clock: unchanged, buffer thin (carried). LLR −1.993, 0.952 from the −2.944 boundary. No-trade rows do not move n, so nothing advanced. Boundary not crossed; 09-18 protocol not re-triggered. Underlying health unchanged: 12 trades, 16.7% WR vs a 44.1% holdout WR.
  • MNEME — thin-similarity clears are not a quality signal (monitoring, unchanged). No new thin-similarity fire this period (09-24's 0.8498 was a wide clear). The prior three lowest-clearing fires (0.5447, 0.5553, 0.5712) all won; N=3–4 argues against ever treating a max_sim floor raise as a "quality" tightening.
  • MNEME — live window tally (monitoring). A 5W/5L (10), B 4W/4L (8), C 4W/4L (8). Today's A stop-out takes A to .500 — far below any escalation bar, noted not escalated.
  • Peer-review dispositions (09-23) — verified landed. "Conditioning evidence" framing dropped; TRACE's Window A failure mode stated as a base rate; TRACE conviction held at low; MNEME fire count corrected (2 of 9, not 1 of 5); p_trade anchored to the computed base rate; the 09-23 TRACE 0.45 booked as overconfident (recorded here — plan-calibration.csv has no note column).
  • NEW learnings flags (desk-blind, own members only): (1) TRACE — the binding gate rotates session-to-session (similarity in B 09-23, vote in A 09-24); where it grazes, it grazes at the binomial resolution point (60% vote, 6/10 for K=10). (2) TRACE — a 60% Window-A vote graze is plausibly protective, given A is 2W/7L on 9 fires. (3) TRACE — stop using the pre-market index-relative read as a p_trade input (inverted on 09-24). (4) MNEME — the period's loss was entry placement, not signal quality: gates cleared comfortably (vote 73.3% / sim 0.8498), entered 765.36 after the day's low (763.25) had printed at the open, stopped 11:05 @764.28, day closed 767.29 — the charter's stated "long that gets stopped" mode. (5) MNEME — p_trade under-forecast, third GO-day instance (0.30→0.49; and 0.35→no-fire then 0.30→fire, ordered backwards). No gate edits anywhere: MNEME's v5 set (K=15, max_sim ≥ 0.50, vote ≥ 62%) and TRACE's v2 set (K=10, max_sim ≥ 0.60, vote ≥ 62%) are untouched.

Desk Summary for Orchestrator

House Mneme's 09-24 reflection covers the two sessions since the 09-22 reflection (Wed 09-23 both no-trade; Thu 09-24 MNEME traded, TRACE no-trade — same-day-on-trade trigger, and no co-fire, so the single trade is a standalone observation). MNEME (SPY, Window A — STOP −$104.28): gate cleared comfortably (vote 73.3% vs 62%, max_sim 0.8498 vs 0.50 — no graze), entered 765.36 @10:00 after the day's low (763.25) had already printed at the open, STOP 764.28 @11:05; SPY then recovered to close 767.29 — the loss is entry placement / session character, the charter's own "long that gets stopped" mode; binding gate not at issue. The period's 09-23 row (vote 47% in all three windows, 15-pt miss = structural absence, similarity 0.911/0.683/0.644) is a wide regime miss with no graze. TRACE (DIA, no trade both sessions): the binding gate ROTATES — 09-23 the similarity gate in Window B (vote 70% cleared, max_sim 0.519 vs 0.60, a 0.081 miss), 09-24 the vote gate in Window A (60% vs 62%, a 2-pt graze, closest of the period); two gates, two windows, no threshold repeatedly grazed → REGIME, and the A non-fire on a 2W/7L window is plausibly protective. The real defect is the forecast layer, in opposite directions: MNEME under-forecasts its GO-day fire rate (09-24 0.30→fired→Brier 0.49, third instance; 0.35→no-fire then 0.30→fire ordered backwards), while TRACE over-forecast once (09-23 0.45→no fire→Brier 0.2025, booked overconfident per the 09-23 peer review) and corrected well (09-24 0.33→0.1089); the peer-review dispositions all landed in the 09-24 plan. Desk net −$104.28 on 1 trade; cumulative 38 trades, +$651.33 (MNEME 26 / +$998.25, SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST LLR +4.802, live A now 5W/5L; TRACE 12 / −$346.92, SPRT CONTINUE LLR −1.993, 0.952 from DEGRADED). Event risk MEDIUM confirmed (no Tier-1; claims/NHS/KC benign; Trump–Xi truce extended 2 months; the day's real catalyst was a Hormuz phased-deal report the AM hadn't framed). Benign honest miss: both plans' "10-yr takes out 5.00% → stand down" trigger was inert (level already ~5.12% pre-open). Live TEMPER items: MNEME GO-day p_trade calibration (propose) and TRACE's Window A session-character / cross-index-leadership filter (propose, never a gate edit). Next Tier-1: PCE Sep 30.

TRACE — (a) the binding gate rotates (B-similarity 09-23 → A-vote 09-24), regime; (b) the 60% Window-A vote graze is a binomial-resolution value and its non-fire on a 2W/7L window is plausibly protective; (c) the pre-market index-relative read inverted (Dow the weakest major) and should not feed p_trade; (d) DEGRADED distance thin at 0.952, boundary not crossed, protocol not re-triggered.
