Call: setup possible — p_trade 0.30, direction long, conviction med. Not a stand-down day, and this is the third session in a row I am pricing it as live rather than as a structural refusal. The engine runs (no Tier-1, VIX 14.17 LOW, firm GO, MEDIUM event risk is not a hard skip), and the disagreements that have driven my recent numbers are now settled in one direction: the ±1.5% up-floor cleared twice in two sessions and both trades won — AMD +3.69% on 09-21 (TSM LONG, +$375.06) and AMD +1.86% on 09-22 (TSM LONG, +$226.88). My standing five-week argument — that the complex-wide AI-chip bid reprices leader and laggard together and therefore cannot produce the idiosyncratic design→manufacturer cascade my edge samples — was sound as a description of the driver and wrong as a stand-down rule: the floor cleared anyway, at two different widths, and both clearings were profitable. I am not going to keep discounting a driver shape that has now produced two consecutive live wins.
Setup present: possible — and this is the third consecutive session with the same named driver, now Asia-led. My signal is not a pre-market level — it is the leader's first-hour return off the 09:30 cash open, read at 09:55, vs. ±1.5%: NVDA ≥ +1.5% → buy ASML at the 10:00 bar open (primary, edge-carrying cell, live 2W/0L, dormant since 08-03) and AMD ≥ +1.5% → buy TSM at the 10:00 bar open (secondary; n=10, WR 40.0%, PF 0.88 — two consecutive wins, 09-21 and 09-22, its best reading since the 09-05 diagnostic). Leader ≤ −1.5% = the disabled-SHORT branch (ENABLE_SHORT = False) → no trade by rule, not a missed LONG. The live driver named by the briefing is the semis leadership leg again — Samsung +2.6%, TSMC +1.2% overnight, memory/semis bid — i.e. the same complex-wide shape, which the last two sessions show does clear the floor on this tape.
Why 0.30 and not the 0.15 I anchored on for most of September. p_trade is the probability the engine logs ≥ 1 real trade, not whether it should. Three things lift the mechanical odds: (a) three consecutive sessions of an active semis leadership bid, two of which cleared; (b) VIX 14.17 LOW — my best backtest regime; (c) a clean first hour with no 8:30 print. My p_trade under-forecast series is now 5 instances (07-22, 08-03, 08-13, 09-21, 09-22 — the last at 0.25 → traded → Brier 0.5625, the smallest miss of the series), and the corrected shape is not "raise a little each time" — it is that on no-Tier-1 / LOW-VIX / firm-GO days my realized fire rate over the last two sessions is 2/2 while my stated number has stayed under it. 0.30 is the honest posterior, not an endorsement of the resulting trade.
Why conviction is med, not high — three real frictions, none of them a gate. (1) No gap bias. Yesterday's clear came off a tech-led gap-up with semis leading; today futures are flat-to-modestly-higher, and a contained, sub-ATR open gives my 09:30→09:55 window less dispersion to work with than consecutive record-close momentum did. (2) The 9:45 flash PMI lands inside my measurement window, and the 10:00 entry again sits immediately ahead of a Fed speaker (Barr, 10:05) — yesterday's Williams/Barr/Paulson cluster did not bind and I was right not to change sizing for it, which is why I am narrowing nothing today either; but the exposure is real and now repeated two days running, and the high-multiple AI complex is the most rate-fragile leg. (3) A laggard-leg note specific to today: TSM is the laggard on my secondary pair and TSMC's own ADR/foundry complex is already up overnight — a share of the laggard's repricing may be pre-consumed, which compresses the remaining intraday catch-up. That is an expectancy observation about the AMD→TSM cell, not a signal or gate question: the leader's first-hour measurement is unaffected, and I adjust no parameter for it.
Sizing vs. event risk: standard 0.75% single-position risk, unchanged — no parameter adjusted. Event risk MEDIUM does not trigger a hard skip; my hard 15:30 flat + 2.0× ATR(14, 5-min) stop carry zero overnight and zero event exposure by rule — so the afternoon headline window (Xi's arrival, Meta Connect at 7:00 PM) is structurally outside my holding period, and today that matters: the day's risk is headline-shaped and my book closes before it. No event buffer invented, no stop or window moved.
Session-character fit: fair-to-mixed, and the best-fitting window is again the morning. My read completes at 09:55, before the 10:05 Barr print and before the afternoon headline cluster; the first hour has no 8:30 damper. Against that: a contained, two-tier, direction-unknown tape is a thin-range tape, and a thin-range tape is exactly where a first-hour impulse can stay inside the floor. The session does not block the mechanism — it simply does not help it, which is why the probability is raised and the conviction is not.
Key levels (mine only): the only load-bearing number is each leader's first-hour return off the 09:30 cash open, read at 09:55, vs. ±1.5% (NVDA→ASML primary; AMD→TSM secondary). No instrument-level price is adopted for NVDA, ASML, AMD or TSM — neither firm input carries a verified level — so all four pair inputs require live confirmation at the cash open. This is a stated data gap, not a level I have chosen to skip.
Invalidation / no-trade reasons: (1) leaders opening broadly down ≥1.5% = the disabled-SHORT side (ENABLE_SHORT = False) → no trade by rule; (2) any intraday VIX ≥ 30 closes consideration; (3) a hawkish Barr read at 10:05 that spikes yields and strips the AI complex of its bid — a quality read on any open impulse, not a parameter change; (4) hard skip: PCE Sep 30 (then NFP Oct 2, CPI Oct 14). No additional stand-down is pre-registered. The distinction the desk has held all cycle stands: a pipeline absence (runner starvation) is a REVIEW state, never a no-trade, and a missing observation is never evidence of a near-miss.
Book state (carries forward): cumulative +$159.61 across 12 LONG trades, 6W/6L, WR 50.0%, gross PF 1.183 — the book crossed back above zero for the first time in Phase 3 on the two consecutive AMD→TSM wins. SPRT n=12, LLR +0.597, CONTINUE (+2.347 from CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST, −3.542 from DEGRADED). NVDA→ASML 2W/0L remains the quality cell; its trigger has not recurred since 08-03, and its blocking value on traded days is unmeasured (see operational item). AMD→TSM n=10, WR 40.0%, PF 0.88 — improved on two wins, still sub-1.0, not declared repaired; the 09-05 stop-calibration diagnostic read NO (widening the stop does not rescue the cell: PF 0.073 → 0.119 across 2.0–4.0×), pending TEMPER cadence-ratification. Rolling 6-month PF monitor: fired again 09-22 at 1.183 < 1.2 — and the load-bearing finding from yesterday's reflection stands: binding condition #2's own wording ("two consecutive 6-month windows") is undecidable at this book age, because the trailing-180-day cutoff (2026-03-26) contains all 12 Phase 3 trades, so both readings are the same window and rolling_pf_check() carries no window state. That is a monitoring-instrument question for TEMPER (add window-boundary/consecutiveness state, or restate the condition in readings), never a unilateral gate tweak.
✔ Operational item — desk-top priority, carried forward: the per-agent 60s run-trades watchdog, now at six flags. 09-22 tripped it again (delta failed or exceeded 60s — skipped); the orchestrator backfill recovered a genuine +$226.88, but the 18:00 EOD desk summary again read DELTA as no-performance-file with the artifact present — so the ledger-freshness post-run check must validate the ledger, not merely the file, and it is still unwired. One new instrumentation gap was recorded yesterday: the near-miss logger populates per-pair blocking notes only on no-trade sessions, so on a traded day the non-firing pair's first-hour value is lost — concretely, whether NVDA approached ±1.5% on 09-21/09-22 is unmeasured, not distant, and the primary edge-carrying cell is the one whose proximity I cannot see on exactly the days the desk is live. My forecast is scored against trades.csv: if the watchdog trips again today, no row is produced and my 0.30 is scored against a pipeline absence rather than a tape outcome.
Watch items (informational only — not entry signals): (1) whether a leader decouples from the complex-wide bid — on a third consecutive semis-led session, telling a leader-specific clear apart from sector beta is still the entire read, and it now determines signal quality rather than whether I stand down; (2) the 9:45 flash PMI and the 10:05 Barr print as the two intraday quality risks on any open impulse, plus each Xi/summit headline as a two-way tape-mover; (3) whether the AMD→TSM cell's two-session winning run is the start of sub-book recovery or N=2 — the desk's live rolling-PF / calibration question.
p_trade 0.30, direction long, conviction med. Not a stand-down day. The ±1.5% up-floor cleared twice in two sessions (AMD +3.69% → +$375.06; AMD +1.86% → +$226.88) and both won, so the five-week "complex-wide bid denies the idiosyncratic cascade" argument is retained as a description of the driver but retired as a stand-down rule — the floor cleared anyway, at two widths, both profitably. Today is the third session of the same semis leadership leg (Samsung +2.6%, TSMC +1.2% overnight, Micron +5% prior session) on VIX 14.17 LOW with no 8:30 print, which is why the number rises a third step (0.15 → 0.25 → 0.30). Conviction med, not high: flat-to-modestly-higher futures with no gap bias and a contained sub-ATR tape give the 09:30→09:55 window less dispersion than yesterday's record-close momentum; the 9:45 flash PMI lands inside the measurement window and the 10:00 entry sits immediately ahead of Barr at 10:05 (yesterday's cluster did not bind — no sizing change then or now); and TSM, my laggard on the secondary pair, is already up overnight on the foundry bid, so part of its repricing may be pre-consumed — an expectancy note, not a gate. Standard 0.75% single-position sizing, no parameter adjusted; binding gate = leader first-hour return read at 09:55 vs. ±1.5%. Documented data gap: no verified NVDA/ASML/AMD/TSM level exists in either firm input — no instrument-level price adopted, all four legs confirmed live at the cash open.No trades taken.
