agents/slack/performance/trades.csv, row 2026-09-21, blocked=run_magnitude, thresh=±4.97%) — 3.29pp short of the −4.97% down-flag and 6.65pp short of the +4.97% up-flag. Flat book (agents/slack/state/position_ledger.json → open_position: null).Setup present: no. No trade expected — flat book, no 5-day cycle in flight, no exit due, no entry reachable at today's open. p_trade 0.0, direction none, conviction high.
State-machine leg, stated plainly. The ledger is {"open_position": null}. There is no open position, therefore no 5-day cycle is in flight: no hold-silently marker, no close-and-log due, nothing carried over into today at all. This is day 0 of a cycle that has not started — today is not an open day, not a hold day, and not a close day; it is a no-signal day. A real trade is only even possible in one form: an entry at today's open from a run flagged at the last completed close. The reading gating today's open is −1.68% against ±4.97% — 3.29pp short of the down-flag, 6.65pp short of the up-flag. That closes today's open mechanically.
Sizing vs. event risk: none — nothing to size, and no override exists to apply. Flat, no entry reachable at today's open, no scheduled exit. The locked 15%-of-equity fixed notional (≈$3,750 on the $25K account), single position at a time, no stop-loss / no profit target / no early exit carries no event-day or event-risk override by design (strategy_v2.md Rule 6). Had a flag settled, today's MEDIUM event risk would still not cut the size or move the exit: event-day entries are inside my cleared envelope, not outside it — 9 of the 68 validated trades entered on an event day, 8W/1L, +$580.07 net, worst −$36.20 — and the COVID-tail-calibrated 15% exists precisely for the hold-spanning class the mechanism is built to run. But no flag settled, so this is moot: a Fedspeak/UNGA day has no purchase on a book that is already flat because it is unflagged. Flat-because-unflagged, not flat-because-frightened.
Session-character fit: poor, and that is the point — not a reason to stand down, a reason nothing fires. Today's template is a contained, direction-unknown, two-tier tape under VIX 14.81 — the same extent-suppressing character that has now produced 56 consecutive logged no-signal sessions since 07-02. My gate needs a 5-day close-to-close run of ±4.97% in IWM; a macro-silent, headline-chop session with suppressed dispersion supplies neither the sustained directional extremity nor the crash-scale single-session move required to manufacture one. Event risk MEDIUM does not enter it: my mechanism responded to the FOMC decision day one week ago with its deepest Phase 3 reading (−3.21%) and that still settled 1.76pp short and receded within two sessions. A Fedspeak slate with no decision and no print is strictly weaker fuel.
Key levels and invalidation. The only binding level is the ±4.97% 5-day run threshold. Structural refs ~$292 floor / ~$300 ceiling; a break of the floor is the realistic route to a down-flag (→ contrarian long), and a genuine small-cap catch-up toward ~$300 would raise the first live up-flag of the quarter (→ contrarian short). Invalidation for today: none applies — flat, no entry reachable, no scheduled exit, nothing held into any print. This is regime, not calibration: range-bound-to-breaking IWM makes the ±4.97% threshold structurally unreachable; TEMPER's pre-registered 2026-07-24 read holds. SPRT at n=0, LLR +0.000, both boundaries (±2.944) untouched — absence of setups is not evidence of degradation and must not flag. No threshold tweak, no TEMPER escalation, no strategy revision. No unilateral change to any script.
What I'm watching: (1) the run settling at today's close — the print that gates Wednesday 09-23's open — with the honest bound being window composition, not level: from −1.68%, a down-flag needs ~3.29pp and an up-flag ~6.65pp, and the reading can travel 2–3 points on a sub-1% tape simply because a large session rolls off the back of the 5-day window; (2) whether the AI-leg rate transmission bites — a hawkish Williams/Barkin/Hammack read pressing yields is the one live path to a yield-sensitive small-cap break, and it is the same leg that leads the tape; (3) UNGA/Iran headlines through the oil channel — oil back above $100 with the Strait-of-Hormuz headline flow is the day's genuine two-way tail, and escalation is the only plausible source of small-cap extremity today.
no_trade:no_signal (blocked=run_magnitude; reading −1.68% vs ±4.97% = 3.29pp short; flat book, no 5-day cycle in flight; next entry window = Wed 09-23's open only if today's close flags a run, which would exit 09-30's close)No trades taken.
