Desk Plan — House Mneme — 2026-09-21

Briefing reference: /Users/dadbot/Desktop/ClaudeBod/projects/dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-09-21-pm.md PM: MNEME (desk-blind: this desk's own members only; GHOST stays frozen, no plan)

Shared Market Read

  • Event risk today: LOW. No Tier-1 event within the next 7 trading days (through 09-28); next Tier-1s PCE Sep 30, NFP Oct 2, CPI Oct 14. The Sep FOMC (25bp hike to 3.75–4.00%) is in the past. Firm-wide status GO — neither active member hard-skips today. Today's only US reads are macro-silent (Chicago Fed NA Index 7:30 ET + Fed speakers Goolsbee/Jefferson/Williams/Barkin — none a market binary; light-earnings Monday).
  • The structural fact of the session — the S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 quarterly rebalances are effective at today's open. This is the session's defining catalyst and I am adopting the 2026-06-22 Family 5/TEMPER learning verbatim as a session-character modifier: quarterly index-rebalance effective dates produce predictable, below-ATR, low-conviction sessions where passive program volume dominates intraday structure with rotation noise rather than price discovery. The rebalance is the completion of a frontrun cycle ($800B+ of Nasdaq trackers, S&P add/delete names like BE/ILMN/TTD/TAP/BLDR), not the initiation of an obligated flow program — diffuse churn across many names, concentrated into the open and the close. For two long-only KNN stacks that need clean directional structure in their observation windows, this is a genuine REDUCED-FIDELITY day — the same category as, but for the open specifically, last Friday's witching. It is not a hard skip (rebalance dates are in both libraries and none coincide with a blackout), but it lowers setup fidelity at the exact open window both members read.
  • Session character expected: Two-tier, tech-led, diffusion-at-the-open. Futures opened the week higher with the Nasdaq/complex leading (Nasdaq +~1%, S&P +~0.6%, Dow +~0.68%) on the AI "pick-and-shovel" chip bid surviving a net-negative AI weekend (Anthropic IPO delay, OpenAI cash-burn), overlaid on the rebalance open churn. The durable shape is tech-over-value (QQQ above its 20-day SMA 713.25; SPY below its 20-day 764.26) — the same two-tier frame that made DIA the lagging leg on 09-18. Crude fell ~2% overnight on US-Iran diplomacy hopes despite the weekend Houthi strike on Riyadh/Yanbu and the Bab el-Mandeb battle — oil is sharply two-way and sits under the whole tape. Do not read the firm open as a guaranteed broad trend; name the shape (tech over value, diffusion at the open), refuse to pre-assign a one-day polarity on a geopolitical/diplomatic week.
  • VIX regime: 14.87 — LOW (<18) (+0.06 vs 14.81). LOW VIX is each active member's best-backtested regime (MNEME VIX<20 PF 2.39; TRACE VIX<20 PF 2.46). VIX is not a gate input for either stack, but a LOW print on a GO day means vol does not block — structure quality does, and rebalance-diffusion is precisely a structure-quality risk, not a vol risk.
  • Key levels: SPY prior close 761.62, prior range 757.98–762.00, SMA20 764.26 (SPY still below its 20-day — the same just-below-SMA20 profile as 09-18, when SPY fell −0.13%), ATR(14) 6.50. QQQ prior close 721.36, range 715.19–721.73, SMA20 713.25 (above). DIA is not in the briefing's price block — watchlist pre-market ~519.37 (+0.68%); TRACE's own live path has been trailing lower (09-09 entry 524.85 → 09-18 entry 514.97), so DIA is the structurally weakening leg. Cross-asset: Brent/WTI ~$98–102 (two-way on the Houthi/diplomacy vector), 10-yr ~4.95-4.97% (off highs), 30-yr ~5.29-5.30%, USD/JPY ~157 (weak yen — the standing rates-transmission risk).
  • Macro backdrop: A macro-quiet Monday whose tape is set by the AI-chip complex, the rebalance open churn, the oil/geopolitical two-way vector, and the diplomatic week (Trump–Xi Wed, UNGA from Tue). The geopolitics are the live risk, not any data print.
The desk-level structural read — rebalance diffusion is the negative, not witching this time, and it concentrates precisely where TRACE fires

Last Friday (09-18) the reduced-fidelity item was quadruple-witching mechanics, and — honest read — the desk over-forecast that handicap (p_trade 0.20/0.12 on a day both members fired: Brier 0.64/0.7744, this desk's worst of the stretch). I am carrying that calibration lesson forward: on a GO / LOW-VIX / no-Tier-1 day with both mechanisms live, sub-0.20 forecasts underweight the real (co-)fire probability. I am not repeating that mistake — but I am also not ignoring today's specific named negative:

  1. The rebalance hits the OPEN — and TRACE's defining fires are Window A (9:30–10:00). Six of TRACE's 10 trades are Window A fires and all six stopped out (07-08, 07-13, 07-20, 07-23, 07-27, 09-18). The 06-22 learning says rebalance effective dates substitute rotation churn for price discovery at the open — the exact window TRACE keeps firing (and losing) on. This is TRACE's loss template loaded onto today's most-degraded window, on the day DIA is again the lagging value leg.
  2. MNEME's health is different from TRACE's. MNEME just fired and WON on Window B (its anchor) on 09-18 and sits SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST. Its 09-18 fire correctly came from the post-noon window, not the noisy open — the same discipline that fits a rebalance day (wait out the open churn, look for a clean post-lunch continuation). TRACE is SPRT CONTINUE, DEGRADED clock ACTIVATED at LLR −2.41 (−0.534 from boundary), 10% WR (1W/9L), with the pre-registered desk-PM-review/TEMPER-within-5 protocol already triggered from 09-18.

Net: both stacks are LIVE and eligible (GO, LOW risk, no hard skip); neither is structurally incompatible with the day. But the defining catalyst today degrades the open window TRACE depends on, and leaves MNEME's best path (a clean post-rebalance B continuation) intact. Forecasts sit above last Friday's over-conservative prints (which was a genuine calibration miss) but below each stack's full fire rate, because rebalance diffusion is a real, named, specific set-fidelity negative that the 09-18 over-forecast lesson does not erase — it tempers how far I raise the number. Both fires would count as one clustered observation for Family 5 significance, as always on a same-day co-fire.

MNEME — SPY KNN (p_trade 0.30, long, low)

Live, warm, and healthy — the 09-18 fire broke my cold streak with a Window B (anchor) win, and the day's structure plays to that strength if I stay patient past the open churn. No hard skip (FOMC was last week); LOW VIX is my best regime (PF 2.39); SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (24 trades, +$1,046.75, LLR +3.793). Setup present: possible, not likely — and I will not chase the open. My binding gate has been the vote (≥62%), not similarity — on my recent stand-downs sims cleared the 0.50 floor while votes ran sub-bar. What needs to align today is a window whose vote clears 62% on post-rebalance structure, i.e. after the open churn settles.

  • Window A (9:30–10:00 observe, 10:00 enter): lowest-fidelity today of all — the rebalance open is when the passive rotation fills, so a 6-bar vector built on 9:30–10:00 carries rebalance noise exactly like witching noise on 09-18 (the window I then avoided and was right to). I do not trust an A fire today.
  • Window B (anchor, 10:00–12:00 observe, 12:00 enter, hard flat 16:00): the one I want. After the open churn and a clean post-lunch continuation forms, B is both my anchor (holdout PF 3.76) and the window that produced my 09-18 win. This is where today's trade, if any, should come from — same discipline as 09-18: let the diffusion settle, then read the pattern.
  • Window C (flagged, holdout PF 1.25): not a lean; I treat its signals with extra scrutiny as always.

Sizing: standard 0.75% ($187.50 on $25K) — no adjustment. Event risk is LOW with no Tier-1 for 7 trading days, so there is no event-risk reduction to make; conviction is low (rebalance diffusion tempers the setup), so no increase. MAX notional $75K unchanged.

Key levels: SPY prior close 761.62; prior range 757.98–762.00; SMA20 764.26 — SPY is still below its 20-day, so a reclaim of 764.26 on the post-rebalance tape is the structural tell the relief has legs (it did NOT happen on 09-18, SPY −0.13%). Holding 757.98 (prior range low) keeps the bid intact; a break of 757.98 with oil/geopolitics firming is the fade tape. ATR(14) 6.50 → a 1.5× ATR stop is ~9.75 index points.

Invalidation: if SPY gaps >1.5% at the open (rebalance/relief overrun), I stand down entirely. If the 10-yr re-tops 5.00% and snaps the semis bid, I stand down entirely. And the honest disclosure carried from 09-18: a Window A fire generated on the rebalance-noise-distorted 9:30–10:00 vector, with no post-10:00 continuation to confirm it, is a fire I would not have chosen — I take it as the gate dictates and log it honestly rather than pretend the gate was wrong. No gate is amended today; v5's parameter set is untouched.

TRACE — DIA KNN (p_trade 0.18, long, low)

Live and eligible — but today's defining catalyst lands on my weakest window, DIA is again the lagging/weakening leg, and my DEGRADED clock is ACTIVATED: the honest call is a strong bias toward stand-down unless a genuinely high-quality, non-Window-A signal forms. No hard skip; LOW VIX is my best regime (VIX<20 PF 2.46); my 09-05 data fix keeps delivering full three-window reads. Setup present: unlikely. Three stacked reasons:

  1. Window A — my dominant firing and losing window — is the window the rebalance most degrades. Six of my 10 trades are Window A fires, all six stopped out (07-08, 07-13, 07-20, 07-23, 07-27, 09-18); my only win was an A HARD_FLAT (07-09). The 2026-06-22 learning names today's open as passive-diffusion churn rather than price discovery — precisely the low-fidelity condition that keeps generating my A stop-outs. A goes through zero mechanically-distorted bar and I do not need any other input to know an A fire today is the loss template loaded on its likeliest day. An A fire is taken only because the gate is the gate; it does not mean I endorse the window.
  2. DIA is again the fragile leg. The tape is tech-led two-tier; DIA (the Dow/value leg) trails the Nasdaq complex the same way it did on 09-18, when my long into it stopped out (−$88.45). DIA's own live path (524.85 → 514.97 entries) is weakening. My long-continuation mechanism has no tailwind when my instrument is the relative laggard.
  3. The DEGRADED clock is ACTIVATED (LLR −2.41, −0.534 from −2.944). The pre-registered desk-PM-review/TEMPER-within-5 protocol is already triggered from the 09-18 stop-out. This is explicitly not a sizing or gating input — it neither suppresses nor forces a legitimate fire, and I keep standard sizing — but it is the loudest live signal I have that my outcomes are diverging from backtest, and a stop-out-quality Window A fire into today's degraded open is exactly where a DEGRADED slate gets worse, not better.

Sizing: standard 0.75% ($187.50 on $25K) — no adjustment. DEGRADED is not a sizing lever; LOW event risk means no reduction to make.

Key levels: DIA not in the briefing price block; watchlist pre-market ~519.37 (+0.68%). DIA must hold its prior-day low to keep any continuation alive; watch whether the Dow's energy members (XOM/CVX) can offset its yield-sensitives with crude two-way and the 10-yr off 5% — that offset is what would let DIA participate on a two-tier day at all. Watch IWM/DIA relative strength as the value-leg tell before any non-A signal.

Invalidation: if DIA gaps >1.5% at the open OR the semis bid fades and the 10-yr re-tops 5.00% (the Dow's rate-sensitives take the brunt), I stand down entirely. The pre-committed stance, stated plainly: on this exact configuration — degraded open (rebalance), lagging value leg, DEGRADED clock ACTIVATED — my base case is "no trade expected unless a genuinely high-fidelity, non-A signal forms." That is a probability read and a discipline stance, not a gate amendment — v2's parameter set is untouched and stays live. No gate is amended today.

Pooled note (Family 5)

Both active members are LIVE and eligible on a firm-wide GO day, LOW event risk, no Tier-1 until PCE 09-30, and LOW VIX — each stack's best-backtested regime. Neither is structurally incompatible with the session. But the defining structural catalyst — the S&P 500 / Nasdaq-100 quarterly rebalance effective at today's open — is a named reduced-fidelity modifier (2026-06-22 learning): passive diffusion churn at the open instead of price discovery. It degrades Window A, TRACE's dominant-and-losing firing window, hardest; it makes MNEME's cleanest path a post-rebalance Window B continuation (the anchor it just won on 09-18). I am carrying the 09-18 over-conservatism lesson forward (do not under-forecast a GO/LOW/no-Tier-1 day) but tempering it with today's specific fidelity negative — hence MNEME 0.30 (up from 0.20, warm + anchor-favoring structure) / TRACE 0.18 (up from 0.12 but capped by DEGRADED + lagging-leg + degraded-open, its loss template). If both fire same-day they count as one clustered observation for pooled significance. Monitoring clocks live and unchanged: MNEME SPRT CONSISTENT (LLR +3.793); TRACE DEGRADED ACTIVATED (LLR −2.41, −0.534 from boundary, protocol already triggered) — TRACE's is this desk's highest-priority live item and is escalated to TEMPER, never a unilateral gate edit. GHOST stays frozen (Phase 2, Decision D2) — no plan, no forecast. Next Tier-1: PCE Sep 30.

Plan Filed

  • Filed: 2026-09-21 04:35 PT (07:35 ET, pre-market)
  • Frontmatter forecasts complete for every active member: yes (mneme 0.30/long/low; trace 0.18/long/low)
  • GHOST: FROZEN (Phase 2, Decision D2) — not planned for, no member file written
  • Firm-wide status: GO — both active members LIVE (no hard skip; event risk LOW, VIX 14.87 LOW); the S&P/Nasdaq-100 rebalance effective today is a reduced-fidelity (open-diffusion) session modifier, not a skip

Cadence Rule Header

Weekly/same-day-on-trade cadence. Today is Monday 2026-09-21 — a firm-wide GO day (LOW event risk, no Tier-1 within 7 trading days through 09-28, VIX 14.87 LOW), and the first trading day since the 09-18 reflection (09-19/20 weekend). TRACE fired and WON; MNEME stood down. This reflection therefore covers the single session Mon 09-21. GHOST remains frozen (Phase 2, Decision D2) — no reflection.

What Happened

TRACE fired and won; MNEME stood down — a single-TRACE session that inverts last period's Window A "loss template" and relieves TRACE's DEGRADED clock. Period outcome: TRACE WIN +$185.60 (Window A fire), MNEME no-trade ($0). This is a single-cluster observation for Family 5 pooled significance (only one member traded — not a same-day co-fire).

Today was a genuinely big, high-fidelity trending-up, tech-led day — not the below-ATR diffusion the plan feared. SPY +1.56% (close 773.52, range 1.86× ATR), QQQ +2.78% (close 741.41, 2.30× ATR), both closing above their 20-day SMA. AMD's join of the $1T club capped a chip-led rally; oil fell ~4.8% on US-Iran diplomacy hopes at UNGA opening; UNGA/Trump–Xi week (Wed) is live. The 06-22 rebalance-diffusion learning — the defining catalyst the AM named (S&P/Nasdaq-100 quarterly rebalance effective at today's open) — did NOT hold: instead of diffuse below-ATR churn, live directional drivers overwhelmed the passive rebalance flow and made this one of the month's largest days. The two-tier (tech-led, value-lagging) shape held, and the value leg still closed positive (+1.56%).

TRACE (DIA long, FIRED — WIN +$185.60): Window A fire at 10:00 — vote 80%, max_sim 0.9318 (well above its 0.60 floor). Entered 517.24, HARD_FLAT 518.52 @ 12:00, +$185.60, win=True. This is TRACE's second Window A win (07-09, 09-21) — and both A wins were continuation HARD_FLATs on clearly-trending days, while its six Window A losses were all stop-outs. The plan's central thesis — "an A fire today is the loss template; strong bias to stand down unless a high-fidelity non-A signal forms" — was wrong on direction: a genuinely high-fidelity A signal DID form (the gate is the gate; TRACE fired the strongest vote it has posted in Phase 3) and on a trending-up tape it did exactly what the mechanism is built to do — hold the continuation to window end.

MNEME (SPY, NO TRADE — $0): no_trade:knn_gate, blocked on A:vote=33%/62% sim=0.819/0.5, B:vote=47%/62% sim=0.739/0.5, C:vote=60%/62% sim=0.760/0.5`. Similarity cleared or near-cleared the 0.50 floor on A/C; the vote threshold (≥62%) was the binding gate, with the best read (C:60%) a single 2pp graze. Not a fire day for MNEME — and the plan forecast exactly that (p_trade 0.30, low). This is MNEME's best-calibrated stand-down of the stretch (Brier 0.09).**

The period's load-bearing read is a split — both members' GATES are REGIME, and TRACE's was positively vindicated; but the PLAN over-applied the rebalance/reduced-fidelity thesis and under-forecast fire probability on both members.

  • Gate (regime, both): MNEME's binding gate was the vote threshold, clean — no repeated same-shape N=3 graze, one 2pp C-graze; it stayed down and the forecast was right. TRACE's binding gate was the vote threshold and it worked — a decisive, high-similarity vote fired and won; the mechanism is not mis-calibrated. No gate is unilaterally tweaked.
  • Forecast / session-character (calibration concern, TRACE-centric): The plan wrote p_trade MNEME 0.30 / TRACE 0.18 (low/low) with a named stand-down bias for TRACE. TRACE fired → Brier 0.6724. This is the second consecutive GO/LOW-VIX day TRACE fired despite a sub-0.20 forecast (09-18: p_trade 0.12 → fired; today: 0.18 → fired). The desk keeps overweighting its own "TRACE is degraded / unlikely to fire" narrative against the mechanism's actual fire capacity on a live GO day. TRACE's session-character bias (today's named "loss template" on A) was also wrong on the one day the tape was a clean trending continuation. This is a forecast/planning self-critique, not a gate finding, and it reinforces the 09-18 learnings flag. MNEME, by contrast, was well-calibrated today (Brier 0.09).

Combined desk P&L this period: +$185.60 on 1 trade (TRACE win). Desk cumulative now 35 trades, +$781.91 (MNEME 24 / +$1,046.75; TRACE 11 / −$264.84).

Event Risk vs. Expectation

  • Event risk LOW — correct, STUCK. No Tier-1 through 09-28; the day's live risk (geopolitical/oil on a diplomatic week) resolved constructively rather than escalating — crude fell on US-Iran UNGA diplomacy hopes, the weekend Houthi strike did not re-escalate. The AM's LOW rating and "don't pre-assign polarity on a coin-flip week / name the shape" stance both held.
  • Session character — the AM's shape call was right, its fidelity call was wrong. The two-tier tech-over-value shape (QQQ +2.78% vs SPY +1.56% vs the lagging-but-positive Dow leg) was exactly confirmed. But the AM's defining structural claim — that the S&P/Nasdaq-100 quarterly rebalance would degrade the open into below-ATR diffusive churn — did not fire. Today was 1.9–2.3× ATR, one of the month's biggest days, because live directional catalysts (AMD $1T on the AI-chip bid, oil de-escalation, UNGA diplomacy) overwhelmed the passive rebalance flow. The 06-22 rebalance-diffusion learning is conditional on the absence of a live directional catalyst — it should not be applied as an automatic fidelity downgrade on a driver day. This is the session-character miss that made TRACE's plan erroneously pessimistic.
  • Invalidations — none triggered. No >1.5% open gap for SPY or DIA; 10-yr stayed off 5% (~4.95%, easing); VIX held LOW (14.87) and even the noted VIX-regime concern was moot. Both members were live and eligible all day.
  • Forward risk: Trump–Xi summit Wed Sep 24 and UNGA are the week's live two-way risk — an AI-safety/de-escalation readout is constructive, a hostile tariff/trade or Iran-war readout reverses today's risk-on. Next Tier-1: PCE Sep 30, then NFP Oct 2, CPI Oct 14, FOMC Minutes Oct 7.

Per-Member Binding Gate Analysis

MNEME — binding gate: the vote threshold (≥62%). REGIME — correct stand-down, best-calibrated forecast of the stretch.

MNEME stood down on knn_gate today: A:33 (sim 0.819), B:47 (sim 0.739), C:60 (sim 0.760) — all votes sub-bar against 62%, with the closest (C:60%) a single 2pp graze. Similarity cleared the 0.50 floor on C and was near it on B.

  • The gate is the vote threshold, and it behaved per design. Over the stand-down, votes ran 33–60% (all sub-bar) while similarity mostly cleared — the setup was structurally sub-bar until a decisive pattern formed, and none did. The one C:60% graze is a single-window, single-occurrence miss, not an N=3 same-shaped repeated-graze pattern against one threshold — no calibration signal.
  • Forecast was correct. p_trade 0.30, low — MNEME did not trade → Brier 0.09, the cleanest stand-down forecast this desk has posted. The 09-18 over-conservatism lesson (raise p_trade moderately on a GO/LOW-VIX day) was correctly applied, and this session rewarded it. No gate tweak.
  • SPRT stays CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (24 trades, +$1,046.75, LLR +4.432) — no drawdown stress, no divergence.

Verdict: REGIME — the vote threshold was the binding gate, was never threatened as a near-graze pattern, and MNEME correctly did not trade on an alive-but-sub-decisive day. Structure, forecast (Brier 0.09), and clock all clean.

TRACE — binding gate: the vote threshold (≥62%). REGIME — the gate FIRED correctly and WON; the miss was the PLAN's session-character bias, not the gate.

TRACE fired Window A at 10:00: vote 80%, max_sim 0.9318 — a genuinely high-fidelity, decisive signal (its strongest vote of Phase 3). DIA long 517.24, HARD_FLAT 518.52 @ 12:00, +$185.60 win.

  • The gate worked — with force. §Entry requires max_sim ≥ 0.60 (0.93, blown out) AND vote ≥ 62% (80%). Both cleared decisively; the mechanism fired on the strongest signal it has seen in Phase 3 and it won. This is evidence FOR the existing gate, not against it.
  • The Window A narrative inverts — this is the live teardown of the 09-18 stop-out "loss template." The 09-18 reflection escalated an N=6 Window A stop-out pattern. Today, firing into the very window the plan flagged as its loss template, TRACE produced a continuation HARD_FLAT win on a clearly-trending tape. Stacking all 8 Window A fires: the two wins (07-09, 09-21) were both continuation HARD_FLATs on trending days; all six losses were stop-outs. The pattern is better read as session-character than window-gate: Window A fires stop out when the open's continuation does not hold (choppy/mean-reverting/sideo-day tapes) and win when it does (trending-up days). Today is the live confirmation that Window A can work as designed.
  • DEGRADED clock — RELIEVED. At 10 trades LLR was −2.41, −0.534 from DEGRADED (−2.944), protocol ACTIVATED. Today's win moved LLR to −1.639, above the boundary — the clock is deactivated. This is the direct, live effect of a mechanism win on the degraded-outcome clock. It does not erase the 09-18 escalation flag — the session-character read still merits a TEMPER conversation — but the urgency dropped materially, and the conversation is now reframed: session-character filter, not a change to the 9:30–10:00 window or its gates.
  • The plan's errors are the honest self-critique here. (1) p_trade 0.18 under-forecast a fire on a GO/LOW-VIX day that the mechanism is live for — Brier 0.6724. (2) The "A fire is the loss template / bias to stand down" stance was wrong on a trending-up tape. (3) The DEGRADED-clock-motivated pessimism — explicitly-not-a-gate-input, correctly did not suppress the fire — silently leaked into the plan's stand-down lean. The discipline held (no gate edit, standard 0.75% sizing, fire taken when the gate cleared), and the mechanism rewarded it.

Verdict: REGIME (gate) — the vote threshold fired correctly and won; the miss was the plan's session-character/under-forecast bias, not gate miscalibration. Window A stop-out pattern reframed as session-character (2W:6L on A, wins = trending HARD_FLATs). DEGRADED clock relieved (LLR −1.639). No gate tweak; the deepened TEMPER conversation is about a session-character filter, not the window.

Narrative finding — the session inverts last period's two conclusions in opposite directions. On 09-18 the desk under-forecast a co-fire AND flagged TRACE's Window A as a toxic loss template with an activated DEGRADED clock. Today: MNEME's vote threshold cleanly kept it out on a sub-decisive day (regime, well forecast), while TRACE's vote threshold — the same gate — fired its strongest Phase 3 signal into exactly the flagged Window A and won via trending continuation, pulling its DEGRADED clock back above the boundary. Both halves say the same thing about the gates: they are correctly calibrated. The desk's real, recurring error is planning-level: persistently under-forecasting TRACE's fire probability on GO/LOW-VIX days (Brier 0.6724, second straight) and over-applying named session-character negatives (witching on 09-18 over-forecast; rebalance-diffusion stand-down bias on 09-21). Combined desk cumulative: 35 trades, +$781.91. TRACE's Window A quality conversation and the rebalance-learning contingency are the live TEMPER items.

Open TEMPER Items (Carried Forward / New)

  • TRACE — Window A stop-out pattern — REFRAMED from gate to session-character (carried from 09-18, N=6 stop-outs → now 2W:6L on 8 A fires). The 09-18 escalation (N=6 Window A stop-outs) was the basis of a proposed window-quality conversation. Today's A HARD_FLAT win, the second trending-day A win (07-09, 09-21), shows the pattern's discriminator is the tape, not the 9:30–10:00 window: A wins are continuation HARD_FLATs on trending days, A losses are stop-outs on non-continuation tapes. Propose the TEMPER conversation be framed as whether a session-character / trending-fidelity filter is appropriate for TRACE's Window A (and its Week-A reliance broadly), not a change to the 6-bar observation window, K=10, or max_sim≥0.60 gate. Filing is proposing — no gate edit here.
  • TRACE — DEGRADED clock: RELIEVED (carried from 09-18, was ACTIVATED). Post-win LLR moved −2.41 → −1.639, above the −2.944 DEGRADED boundary; SPRT CONTINUE, clock deactivated. The escalation from 09-18's TEMPER-within-5 protocol is superseded by this positive outcome, though the underlying fire-rate/session-character health remains something to keep watching (18% WR, 2W/9L over 11 trades is still far below the backtest's WR).
  • MNEME — SPRT. CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST, sticky (LLR +4.432, 24 trades, +$1,046.75). Nothing to escalate.
  • Family 5 pooled validation. Today is a single-cluster observation (TRACE only). Pooled cumulative: 35 trades, +$781.91.
  • NEW learnings flag (desk-blind): the 2026-06-22 rebalance-diffusion learning did not hold on a catalyst day. The S&P/Nasdaq-100 rebalance effective 09-21 produced a big trending-up session (1.9–2.3× ATR), not below-ATR churn, because live directional drivers (AMD $1T AI-chip rally, oil de-escalation on UNGA diplomacy) overwhelmed passive flow. Flag for learnings.md: the rebalance modifier is conditional on the absence of a live directional catalyst and should not auto-downgrade session fidelity on a driver day. Appending this reflection as a desk-blind House Mneme note.

Desk Summary for Orchestrator

House Mneme's 09-21 reflection (single session since the 09-18 reflection) was a single-TRACE session that inverts last period's two conclusions in opposite directions. TRACE (DIA, FIRED — WIN +$185.60): Window A fire — vote 80%, max_sim 0.9318, entered 517.24 @10:00, HARD_FLAT 518.52 @12:00. Binding gate = vote threshold (REGIME) — it fired its strongest Phase 3 signal and won, live-tearing-down the 09-18 Window A "loss template" (now 2W:6L on 8 A fires, both wins = trending-day continuation HARD_FLATs; the TEMPER conversation reframes from window-quality to a session-character/trending-fidelity filter, never a gate edit). DEGRADED clock RELIEVED: LLR −2.41 → −1.639, above the −2.944 boundary — protocol deactivated. MNEME (SPY, NOT RADED): stood down on vote threshold (A:33/B:47/C:60, one 2pp C graze) — REGIME, clean, and the best-calibrated forecast of the stretch (p_trade 0.30, Brier 0.09); SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (24 tr, +$1,046.75). Desk's real recurring miss is planning-level (not gate): TRACE under-forecast a fire on a GO/LOW-VIX day for the second straight session (Brier 0.6724) and the rebalance-diffusion stand-down bias was wrong on a trending-up day — the 06-22 rebalance learning is conditional on no live catalyst, flagged desk-blind to learnings. Combined desk cumulative: 35 trades, +$781.91. Next Tier-1: PCE Sep 30; live week risk is Trump–Xi Wed Sep 24 / UNGA; both members live.

Reflection Filed

  • Filed: 2026-09-21 (EOD reflection; covers the single session Mon 09-21 since the 09-18 reflection)
  • Next session event risk: Tue Sep 22 — no Tier-1; next Tier-1s PCE Sep 30 / NFP Oct 2 / CPI Oct 14 (FOMC Minutes Oct 7). Live two-way risk this week: Trump–Xi summit Wed Sep 24 and UNGA — an AI-safety/de-escalation readout is constructive, a hostile readout reverses today's risk-on.
  • GHOST: frozen (Phase 2, Decision D2) — no reflection written.
  • MNEME and TRACE per-member compatibility files written (agents/mneme/reflections/daily_2026-09-21.md, agents/trace/reflections/daily_2026-09-21.md).
  • Learnings flag (desk-blind, own members only): TRACE under-forecast a fire on a GO/LOW-VIX day for the second straight session (Brier 0.6724; 09-18 was 0.7744) — a planning-level over-conservatism that keeps understating the mechanism's live fire capacity. The 2026-06-22 rebalance-diffusion learning did not hold on a catalyst day (09-21 was 1.9–2.3× ATR trending up) — flag to learnings that the rebalance modifier is conditional on no live directional catalyst. Both are planning/learnings notes — no gate edits. TRACE's DEGRADED clock is RELIEVED (LLR −1.639, above −2.944); its Window A pattern is reframed as session-character (2W:6L, wins = trending HARD_FLATs), propose a TEMPER conversation on a trending-fidelity filter, never a unilateral gate change.
