Briefing reference: /Users/dadbot/Desktop/ClaudeBod/projects/dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-09-16-pm.md PM: VESPER — the evening star, the first light after the close.
Forecast: p_trade 1.0, direction long, conviction med.
On conviction, stated plainly so it cannot be misread as a skip or a de-risk: VESPER has no signal gate, no event filter and no skip logic — it takes the overnight hold every session, so p_trade is 1.0 by construction (cycle 44's exit books a real long trade this morning; cycle 45 opens tonight at 90% notional). med is not doubt about whether the trade happens — that is certain — and it is not permission to size down. It is the honest ex-ante discount on the quality of tonight's two-sided tail, and tonight that discount is the largest of the week: this is the decision-exposed carry. The four prior plans were high (37 plans) then med for the three FOMC-approaching nights (09-11 CPI-carry, 09-14 FOMC−2d, 09-15 FOMC−1d); tonight the reason for med is concrete and at maximum strength: the overnight hold receives the full post-decision + dot plot + presser repricing — a genuinely two-sided binary with both tails live, and the 10-yr at a 19-year high as the transmission. The reason it is not low is the desk's own record: the pre-event and post-event nights are the premium's native habitat — the phase's largest single-night win (+88.47 net bps on the CPI-carrying night, cycle 41) and its worst loss (−74.01, cycle 42, the very next hold) are adjacent cycles, both at standard 90%, no skip, no conditioning. Do not import any other stack's skip logic here — VESPER has none to import, and the firm's NO-GO applies to the intraday desks, not to the overnight holder.
Monitors check (direct run — run live for this plan, 2026-09-16):
==> OK: premium intact. No DEGRADED flag. The only number that can ever stop me. (Reminder: the shared EOD generator has misread this monitor's readout before — the 09-08 rule-description-footer-as-flag and the 09-14 polarity inversion; neither is a live flag; this direct run governs.)flagged: []). Simulation only — fills price at the anchors, shortfall ≡ 0; decision-relevant only against real broker fills. No realized-cost breach on record (last realized round-trip ~1.0000 bps, on the ≤ 1.0 bps/day budget).Continuity note for the desk record: Through yesterday's morning exit the desk had 43 completed cycles; cycle 44 (Tue 09-15 16:00 entry 757.66 → Wed 09-16 09:31 — the Tuesday-night hold) exits 09:31 ET this morning, and cycle 45 (Wed 16:00 → Thu 09-31) enters tonight at standard 90%. Recent cycle outcomes: 39 −29.46 / 40 −60.15 / 41 +88.47 / 42 −74.01 / 43 −11.52 net bps (the Monday-night hold, entry 760.71 → exit 759.91, booked 09-15 09:31). Mean has been traversing at-anchor (≈ +3.26 net bps/day through 42) — sampling, not decay; the decision-relevant read is the market-data mechanism watch (n=2,184, +5.693 trailing-250). Plan calibration: perfect scored rows since founding (Brier 0.0). The 08-07 dispatch hole and the 09-02 reflection gap remain the only record gaps.
Invalidation: None structural. An unconditional strategy has no invalidation condition by design. The kill discipline is the mechanism watch on market data (trailing-250 and trailing-500 < 0.655 bps/day gross → TEMPER review), checked daily, not resolvable intra-session, and not conditional on the FOMC, the dot plot, the presser, Retail Sales, oil, Hormuz or the semis. Tonight's cycle 45 has no skip trigger by design (rules 4 & 5) — it carries the post-decision repricing regardless. If Thursday's 09:31 open gaps against cycle 45, VESPER takes and logs it; that is the price of the premium. A 2022-regime drawdown (≈ −11.4% on equity at 0.9 notional) is within tolerance and is not a kill signal; the −26.5% COVID drawdown (2020-02-12 → 2020-03-23, 8-month recovery) is inside the validated sample. The only stand-downs are force-majeure (closing-auction failure, account/regulatory constraint, exchange halt) — none indicated.
What I am watching: (1) Cycle 44's 09:31 exit print vs entry 757.66 — the Tuesday-night hold into the modestly-firmer, tech-led pre-open and the crypto-policy shock; no pre-assigned direction, either branch is one observation, not a finding. (2) Tonight's 16:00 auction print for cycle 45 — the decision-exposed carry (Wed 16:00 → Thu 09-31), entered at standard 90% unconditionally, receiving whatever the 2:00 PM statement, the 2:30 presser and the dot plot do to the overnight tape. (3) The 10-yr's reaction above or below 5.00% as the transmission check on whatever the decision opens — the single most informative level for whether the discount-rate blade is dulled (no further hikes) or re-sharpened (cycle-start). (4) The mechanism watch stays live-green (trailing-250 +5.693 / −500 +4.179 vs 0.655) — the only number that can ever stop me. After 09:31, flat and idle until 15:50 — doing exactly nothing, which is the discipline.

Plan reference: desks/house-vesper/plans/2026-09-16-plan.md EOD briefing: dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-09-16-eod.md PM: VESPER — the evening star, the first light after the close.
One desk, one member, one unconditional overnight stack. Single-session window since the 09-15 filing, and today cycle 44 — the Tuesday-night, FOMC-eve hold that carried Retail Sales (Aug) 8:30 AM ET inside its window — resolved as a WIN: +24.5493 gross / +23.5493 net bps (+$55.84 gross / +$53.57 net). Cycle 44 entered Tue 09-15 at the 16:00 auction-inclusive anchor — 757.66 (30.02145 shares, $22,746.05 notional, 90.0% of $25,273.39 equity) — and exited at this morning's 09:31 bar open — 759.52; commission $2.27 ≈ 0.998 bps, on the ≤ 1.0 bps/day budget, no breach, roundtrip_shortfall_bps = 0.0.
The FOMC decision was in no window of this desk, exactly as the plan's mechanical correction held, and the anchor received the favorable end today — both claims validated simultaneously. SPY gapped modestly firmer out of the retail-sales beat — prior close 757.42, open 759.42 (+0.26%) — and my exit print came in 759.52, ~0.1 bps under the open, pricing the pre-decision, tech-led bid and the crypto-policy shock. The day then resolved as the EOD's open-high-fade: a brief risk-on spike right after the 2:00 PM unanimous 25bp hike to 3.75–4.00% (first since 2023, first under Chair Warsh), then a late-afternoon selloff as the median dot showed ONE more hike this year ("higher for longer", not one-and-done) and the 10-yr re-topped 5.00%. SPY closed 754.05 (−0.44% vs prior, −0.71% off its open, 1.86× ATR) on a range of 749.67–761.63; QQQ closed flat (+0.01%); VIX 17.71 — LOW (<18). The decision landed intraday at 2:00 PM — between cycle 44's 09:31 exit and cycle 45's 16:00 entry — and this desk's entire exposure surface was once again the exact complement of the trading day. Cycle 44's exit print (759.52) sat ~72 bps above the eventual close (754.05) — the whole FOMC-driven selloff occurred after VESPER was flat — and the re-entry captured that lower level.
Cycle 45 then opened at tonight's 16:00 anchor — the decision-exposed carry the desk's plans have been pointing at since 09-13. Entry 754.19, $22,794.26 notional, 90.0% of post-exit equity (ledger verified), held into Thu 09-17 09:31 at standard size, unconditionally (rules 4 & 5). Cycle 45 enters having already absorbed the first ~2 hours of post-decision repricing (the open-high-fade's late leg) and carries whatever the overnight tape — the post-statement, post-dot-plot, post-presser digestion — does into Thursday's open. It is the same ordinary unconditional hold, falling on the exact night the calendar loaded toward.
Continuity for the desk record: 44 completed cycles, cumulative net +$326.96 (gross +$427.05, commissions $100.08), ≈ +148.7465 net bps (gross ≈+168.7465), mean +3.3806 net bps/day, win rate 56.8% (25/44) — not the benchmark. Plan calibration: perfect since founding (Brier 0.0); the 09-16 row scores perfect. The 09-02 reflection gap and the 08-07 dispatch hole remain the only record gaps.
Neither regime nor calibration — no gate of this desk was grazed, and the period is again an ordinary two-sided draw, this time on the favorable side. For an unconditional stack there is no setup gate to bind and no threshold to graze: the blocked= near-miss notes are empty by construction, always, and no p_trade gate was ever under consideration (p_trade 1.0, direction long, by design). The only kill-capable gate this desk owns is the mechanism watch on market data, and after today's exit it reads LIVE and GREEN — the mechanism_watch flag is NOT active today:
==> OK: premium intact — the overnight anchor premium is intact, and the executable-anchor gross remains ~8.8× / 6.5× above its kill floor. (The shared EOD desk-summary line still carries a 09-15-origin "⚠️ mechanism_watch flagged DEGRADED on execution cost → route to TEMPER" note. That is the standing generator defect — the direct run above is authoritative and returns OK: premium intact; the assertion names the wrong monitor and inverts the OK condition. See Learnings — this is now N=5.)flagged: []. Simulation only — fills price at the anchors, shortfall ≡ 0. Cycle 44's realized round-trip was ~0.998 bps (roundtrip_shortfall_bps = 0.0) — on budget, on a win night exactly as on a loss night. The period's genuine content is the magnitude, and it reverses the first sub-anchor read of the phase. +23.5493 net bps is a +0.49σ realization on the live realized sample SD of ~48 bps (+0.29σ on the ~80 bps modeled SD) — an ordinary, mildly-favorable draw on the pre-decision drift night. Critically, it pulls the realized net mean from +2.9116 (n=43 — the first sub-anchor read, 0.239 bps below the 3.151 anchor) back above the anchor: +3.3806 net bps/day at n=44. At n=44 the standard error of the mean is still ~7.2–7.3 bps on the live SD (~12 bps modeled), so the mean is ~0.03 SE above its anchor — the fourth leg of the pre-registered oscillation (at-anchor → +5.14 → at-anchor → below → above), exactly the sampling the desk pre-registered on 09-09/09-10 rather than a mechanism statement. Four observations cannot distinguish a mean oscillating around 3.151 from one that has stepped anywhere nearby, and the desk will not pretend otherwise. The decision-relevant read remains the market-data mechanism watch — n=2185 pairs, trailing-250 +5.766 gross, 8.80× its floor — which has held through every oscillation of the P&L mean and is the only monitor whose degradation would be evidence rather than sampling. No threshold grazed, no gate bound → no tweak, no TEMPER conversation on any gate.
Operational note: no runner-starvation recurrence; both trades.csv rows reconcile to the ledger exactly (exit cycle 44 at 09:31:00 on 759.52; position-open cycle 45 at 754.19 / $22,794.26). The shared EOD desk-summary VESPER line carries a false DEGRADED mechanism-watch assertion for a fifth consecutive session — the generator defect persists (see Learnings).
| Dimension | Rating (1–5) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Event risk call | 5 | HIGH held exactly — the literal, forward-loaded rule on FOMC decision + SEP + presser, Wed Sep 16, 2:00 PM ET, same day. The decision fired as ~88–92% priced (unanimous 25bp hike) but the tradable variable the plan named — the median dot (one-more-hike, not one-and-done) — was the mover that drove the open-high-fade. EOD graded event risk STUCK. The plan's standing mechanical correction also held: the 2:00 PM decision sat outside every VESPER window (flat by 09:31, re-entering 15:50/16:00); cycle 45 is the decision-loaded carry, precisely as three days of plans pre-announced |
| Session character call | 5 | Irrelevant to this desk's mechanics by construction (flat by 09:31) — but honest: the plan called a two-sided, suspension-held, repricing-to-conclusion tape and refused to pre-assign direction, and the session resolved as exactly that open-high-fade (SPY 1.86× ATR, spiked on the decision, faded on the dot). Both named transmission checks delivered: the median dot and the 10-yr re-topping 5.00%. EOD graded character, driver, regime, two-tier and structure all STUCK. My only relevant character is overnight, which resolved +23.55 net bps on a firmer pre-open |
| Setup prediction | 5 | Unconditional — the only forecast is exit/entry placement, and both landed where pre-registered: cycle 44 exited the 09:31 bar open at 759.52, cycle 45 entered 754.19 tonight at standard 90% size ($22,794.26 notional), the ordinary Wed-night hold into Thu 09-17 09:31 — no skip, no conditioned sizing |
| Adjustments | 5 | None made — 90% notional, 16:00 auction-inclusive anchor, 09:31 exit, all standard; no event-conditioned sizing into the decision-exposed night (rules 4 & 5 — the HIGH/med framing did not alter the call, the size, or the hold). A win on the pre-decision night and a wide repricing ahead for cycle 45, both at the same standard size. Cost realized at ~0.998 bps = the budget, roundtrip_shortfall_bps = 0.0, no breach |
Overall plan accuracy: 5 / 5. Machine-scored: the 09-16 plan forecast p_trade 1.0 / long / med; cycle 44's exit booked today is a real long trade (traded=1), direction long → long hit — Brier 0.0, extending the perfect scored run since founding. On the med — the largest ex-ante discount of the week, on the decision-exposed carry: the plan's own reasoning was that med is not doubt about whether the trade happens (certain) and not permission to size down, but the honest discount on tonight's two-sided post-decision tail. Conviction is not scored; the med stands as the correct posture, and the crucial point stands with it: the med was never permission to de-risk, and the desk did not de-risk — cycle 45 enters at standard 90% into the decision-loaded carry.
+3.3806 net bps/day at n=44 vs the 3.151 cleared anchor, ~0.03 SE above — the fourth leg of the pre-registered oscillation (at-anchor → +5.14 → at-anchor → below → above) filed on 09-09/09-10, reversing the first sub-anchor read at n=43. What would make any of it matter is not the P&L mean at all: it is the market-data mechanism watch degrading alongside it (trailing-250 and trailing-500 gross < 0.655). That monitor is at +5.766 / +4.232 — 8.80× / 6.46× its floor, n=2185 — and it is the only number whose motion would be evidence rather than sampling. Kill discipline is measured on market data (rule 4), never on P&L pain.==> OK: premium intact (trailing-250 +5.766, covering cycle 44's +24.55 gross pair and easing-to-firm), with no active watch flag. The shared EOD desk-summary line still carries the 09-15-origin "⚠️ mechanism_watch flagged DEGRADED on execution cost → route to TEMPER" note — the same false assertion, inverted polarity and wrong-monitor-attribution the desk flagged at N=4 yesterday. A downstream operator acting on that line would route a TEMPER review for a gate that is 8.80× above its floor. The stack's direct daily run governs; the generator line should be treated as unreliable for this desk until fixed.performance/daily_2026-09-16.md opens "No trade taken today" / Session P&L $0.00 even though its own cumulative line (n=44, +$326.96 net, +$427.05 gross) correctly carries cycle 44's realized +$53.57 and reconciles to the ledger. On an exit day the exit leg books a real trade at 09:31 and cycle 45's position-open is a separate no_trade row; the generator's "no trade" framing reads the open row, not the exit. Unchanged generator convention, not a new gap — the trades.csv row is the record.trades.csv rows reconcile exactly to the ledger.learnings.md: the EOD generator's mechanism-watch line misstates this desk's monitor for a fifth consecutive session and still asserts a false DEGRADED flag.
