Desk Plan — House Delta — 2026-09-14

Briefing reference: /Users/dadbot/Desktop/ClaudeBod/projects/dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-09-14-pm.md PM: DELTA

Shared Market Read

  • Event risk today: NONE today, but HIGH for the week — no US Tier-1 on Mon Sep 14 (NY Fed calendar empty); the binding event is the FOMC decision + SEP + presser, Wed Sep 16 (2 days out), ~78% hike-priced with the Reuters analyst poll genuinely split (11 hold / 10 hike / 1 cut). That is DELTA's next hard-skip — it closes the Wednesday session, not today's. Today's own US macro is light. Firm-wide status: GO (calendar-clean), but the Scanner's own note applies: calendar-clean is not setup-clean.
  • Session character expected: Fundamental-repricing gap — two-tier de-risk. A tech-led AI-capex-anxiety gap-down (Amodei's "We Must Pace the Frontier" essay + OpenAI's Astra pause + congressional scrutiny + the Oracle data-center-profitability read-through) paired with an energy bid (Hormuz talks postponed, Brent back past $107). Nasdaq-100 futures ~-1.7%, S&P ~-0.7%, Dow ~flat. The briefing names the mechanic directly: both the AI gap and the oil leg are repricing, so continuation dies and lead-lag is confounded by a complex-wide repricing — the exclusions are DELTA's own. This is not a catalyst-adjacent dip; it is the market re-anchoring to a different valuation question ("can they profit from what they spent?").
  • VIX regime: 17.68 (+1.84) — LOW (<18), DELTA's best-performing regime (dev PF 2.59 in VIX < 20) and far under the 30 hard-skip. Favorable regime is moot today: the shape, not the vol level, is the binding constraint.
  • Key levels: DELTA's only load-bearing number is the leader's first-hour return off the 09:30 cash open, measured at 09:55, vs the ±1.5% floor. The briefing carries no per-instrument semi prices (NVDA/ASML/AMD/TSM) — it is Alpaca-verified at the index/ETF level: SPY 764.14 prior close (below SMA20 766.84, ATR(14) 5.57; prior-day range 763.63–766.35), QQQ 714.89 (below SMA20 715.70, ATR(14) 7.71; prior-day range 713.69–717.61). Directional read only: NVDA / AI-chip complex gapping down, news-driven; ORCL the single-name flashpoint; XLE bid. The pair/spread inputs require live confirmation at the cash open — no instrument-level price is adoptable and none is invented here.
  • Macro backdrop: A rates-dominated, stagflation-tilted tape into a hike-priced FOMC — 10-yr parked near 5% (2023 high; a break above is the equity-multiple risk), oil re-firmed (Brent >$107), gold down ~1.3% despite the geopolitical bid (confirms rates dominate). The AI complex's operative question has flipped from capex magnitude to capex return.

DELTA — Lead-Lag Pairs (NVDA→ASML, AMD→TSM), LONG-only

Call: No trade expected — the day's live catalyst is a fundamental-repricing gap sitting directly on DELTA's own complex, so the structural stand-down applies at its strictest, and the pre-market direction (tech-led gap-down) points at the disabled-SHORT branch rather than the LONG. p_trade 0.05, direction none, conviction high. This is not a hedged maybe: the engine will run (today is not a hard-skip), but the shape that would have to appear for a clean LONG is close to its structural floor.

  • Setup present: unlikely, and shape-blocked even if the number prints. Today is not itself a hard-skip (today is not in the FOMC/CPI/NFP/PCE set — the FOMC closes Wednesday), so paper_trade.py will evaluate both pairs at 09:55. Against DELTA's gate: pre-market is tech-led down (Nasdaq-100 futures ~-1.7%), so there is no clean up-fuel at the open — the opposite of the constructive threads that never quite cleared. NVDA has not logged a live LONG since 08-03; the primary cell (NVDA→ASML, 2W/0L live) has grazed +1.5% but never cleared since. On a gap-down AI tape the plausible floor interaction is downward, i.e. the untradeable side.
  • The blocking case — and today it is the strongest version of it: the overnight driver is a fundamental repricing of the semiconductor/AI complex — the exact failure mode DELTA refuses. My edge is an idiosyncratic design→manufacturer cascade (a leader's demand/capacity news telegraphs downstream to ASML/TSM over hours). An AI-capex-return repricing reprices leader and laggard simultaneously, on one systematic factor, so a qualifying first-hour leader move today would most likely be complex-wide AI beta by construction — not a supply-chain cascade. The briefing reaches the same conclusion independently ("lead-lag (DELTA) is confounded by a complex-wide repricing"). This stand-down is applied more strictly today than on an ordinary macro day, because the repricing is on my own instruments, not on a distant index.
  • Session-character fit: Poor — the worst-shaped session for this mechanism in weeks. A news-driven, two-tier, fundamental-repricing gap into a two-day-away FOMC is a macro/momentum tape, not a pairs-convergence tape. The AI leg is repricing (continuation dead); the oil leg is a different complex entirely. The morning's first 30 minutes are gap-driven price discovery, and my 09:55 leader measurement sits inside that discovery window — elevated risk that any qualifying number is gap-noise, not signal.
  • Sizing vs. event risk: n/a if no trade; standard 0.75% single position if a leader cleared AND the move read idiosyncratic — no size reduction. Worth stating plainly: FOMC-Wednesday is not today's skip (it closes Wednesday's session), the book holds one position max, and the hard 15:30 flat carries zero overnight or event exposure. VIX 17.68 LOW is my best regime. The binding constraint is frequency + shape, not risk-per-trade — so there is no reason to shrink size on a session that is already shape-blocked.
  • Up-branch / calibration status (carries forward, unchanged): The 09-04 pre-registered flag — a third NVDA up-graze inside ~0.3pp turns regime into a TEMPER calibration question — is not advanced today. Today contributes no signal evidence either way on the up-side (the pre-market lean is down). The grazes stand at NVDA +1.23% (09-02), +1.02% (09-03), AMD +1.20% (08-31); 09-10 logged NVDA -1.44% (down-side, inside the floor but the disabled-SHORT side). Flag stays queued, untouched. No unilateral gate change.
  • Invalidation / no-trade reasons: (1) Leaders opening broadly down ≥1.5% on the AI-repricing gap = the disabled-SHORT side (LONG-only book) — by rule no trade, not a missed LONG (the 09-08 NVDA -1.55% no_trade:short_disabled is the template). (2) A first-hour leader up-move that reads as complex-wide AI-capex repricing (sector relief bid / short-covering) rather than an idiosyncratic supply-chain cascade — the structural stand-down, binding at its strictest today. (3) Any intraday VIX move to ≥30 closes consideration. Next hard-skip after today: FOMC Wed Sep 16.
  • Book state carries forward untouched: Cumulative −$442.33 across 10 LONG trades (4W/6L, WR 40.0%, PF 0.494, SPRT n=10, LLR −0.159, CONTINUE). AMD→TSM sub-book n=8, WR 25.0%, PF 0.191 stays queued for TEMPER (the 09-05 stop-calibration diagnostic read NO — widening the stop does not rescue that cell; signal/regime watch, not a parameter fix). NVDA→ASML clean cell 2W/0L remains the quality cell — but its trigger today is both low-probability and shape-blocked.
  • Watch items (informational only — no action today): (1) whether NVDA/AMD can decouple and build a genuine idiosyncratic first-hour up-impulse off a down open, as opposed to riding a sector relief bid — the only path to a clean LONG; (2) ORCL as the single-name tell (the briefing's own marker for whether the complex stabilizes — which re-opens fade fuel generally — or extends, which excludes even the fade; for me it is the read on whether the leader move is cascade-like or factor-wide); (3) whether the gap presses semis into the disabled-SHORT branch, and — separately — the open event-day diagnostic run (skip disabled), still not performed, moderate priority.
  • Open operational item (desk-top): the 09-09 observation hole persists — no execution row in trades.csv, no performance/daily_2026-09-09.md (the per-agent 60s run-trades watchdog skipped the stack 09-09/09-10; 09-10 was backfilled, 09-09 was not). It is the one session whose plan flagged the strongest pre-market up-fuel. A missing observation is not scored as a near-miss; the backfill and a ledger-freshness post-run check remain the fixes.
