Briefing reference: /Users/dadbot/Desktop/ClaudeBod/projects/dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-09-11-pm.md PM: Wicker (persona; own stack retired 2026-07-14 — this plan covers active members Null + Meridian only)
is_event_day(trade_date, tier_filter=2) — CPI is a same-day Tier-1, so the gate closes him. Meridian's live hard-skip (the 2026-07-14 fix that wired is_event_day() into paper_trade.py to return before the per-symbol data fetch) is on the identical list — CPI is a same-day Tier-1, so the gate closes her Kill Zone before it opens. Unlike 09-10 (CPI was tomorrow, both gates CLEAR), today is the event day itself: there is nothing to plan around, only a gate to confirm. Both will log no_trade:event_day:CPI_tier1, the same row the 09-04 NFP session printed.Setup present: NO — the session is closed by the Tier-1 event gate before any setup is evaluated. p_trade 0.0, direction none, conviction high. The exact binding gate is is_event_day(trade_date, tier_filter=2) firing on CPI (Tier-1, same-day); paper_trade.py returns before the gap is even measured, so no shape gate (gap-band, volume, trend-alignment, FVG) is reached. This is not a judgment call or a soft lean — it is the code-enforced stand-down that printed on 07-02 (CPI), 08-07 (CPI) and 09-04 (NFP). I forecast 0.0 because the gate is deterministic, not because I am hedging.
How the CPI-print open interacts with the gap-fade mechanism (why the skip is right on the merits, not just rule-bound): a CPI gap is a fundamental repricing at 8:30, set 60 minutes before the cash open — the breakaway-gap population my v2 thesis explicitly excludes. The entire gap-fill edge rests on the distinction between thin-overnight manufactured imbalance and genuine information; a CPI print is the purest example of the latter, categorically the same class as FOMC/NFP/PCE for this mechanism. Two independent gates would close the session even without the hard skip: (1) a volatile print open is a classic pre-market NQ volume > 2× the 5-day average trigger (my independent stand-down), and (2) a hot or soft surprise routinely prints a gap > 0.7× ATR (> 5.27 pts on QQQ), blocked by the ceiling filter outright. Last session (09-10) the gap already printed 1.149× ATR — outside the band, blocked — a reminder that this tape is currently producing oversize gaps, not the sub-0.7× shape my edge needs. I do not chase a reversion on any part of a post-CPI tape.
Sizing vs event risk: no sizing question arises — flat by rule. Standard SOP would be 1 MNQ, 0.5% risk, one position, 11:00 hard exit; the gate pre-empts all of it. $0.00 expected.
Key levels (informational only today): QQQ prior close 708.73 (fill target), prior high 712.01, prior low 706.92, SMA20 716.56. In-band gap would be ±0.75–5.27 pts. None of this is reached.
Invalidation: moot — the session never reaches signal work. The gate closes pre-open.
Mechanism health: SPRT CONTINUE — n=14 W13/L1, LLR +2.249 (WR 92.9%, cumulative +$1,881.59), 0.695 from the CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST boundary; the single 09-03 trend-day loss remains un-clustered (N=1). One informational item to log today, carrying the 09-04 NFP finding: quantify the CPI-skip's firing-rate cost by recording the QQQ cash-open gap shape (would it have been in-band by size?). On 09-04 the NFP gap printed in-band on shape (~0.18× ATR) yet the skip correctly held; today's print-vs-own-close gap belongs to that same event-skip cost distribution. This is an observation, not a reason to revisit the skip.
Setup present: NO — the Kill Zone is closed by the Tier-1 event gate before it opens. p_trade 0.0, direction none, conviction high. The exact binding gate is Meridian's live hard-skip: paper_trade.py now calls is_event_day() and returns before the per-symbol data fetch — the fix (2026-07-14) that closed the CPI-day hole where the gate was previously log-only. CPI is a same-day Tier-1 today, so the gate fires pre-open, exactly as it did on 09-04 (NFP). The vol gate (1.25× prior-range ceiling) and the ADX band would both be evaluated only after this gate, and neither is reached. Deterministic stand-down; no_trade:event_day:CPI_tier1.
How the CPI-print open interacts with the kill-zone sweep mechanism (why the skip is right on the merits): the mechanism fades an exhausted up-push into a prior-session high with RSI(2) ≥ 88 inside an 18–32 ADX band. A CPI morning is the anti-pattern by construction: the print produces a volatile, two-sided price-discovery open, not a clean push-and-reject — the exact condition that generates false sweeps, not exhaustion sweeps. TEMPER's Meridian learning (2026-06-18) applies with full force: an upside prior-high sweep needs the tape to first rally up into the level and spike-reject; a directional context pointing away from the sweep direction warrants a low rating. The ADX band would also be unreliable: recent sessions have straddled it in both directions (09-08 QQQ ~16.8 / IWM ~17.0 under the 18 floor; 09-09 SPY ~45.6 / IWM ~38.7 over the 32 ceiling), and a print-driven volatility spike is the classic way to blow the ceiling again. Either the band blocks, or the tape gives no clean exhaustion — and the event gate closes the window before either matters. I do not short a print.
Sizing vs event risk: no sizing question arises — flat by rule. Standard SOP ($250/leg, cap 10 MNQ / 5 MES / 5 M2K, 2-loss daily cap, hard close 11:30 ET) is pre-empted. $0.00 expected. iwm_leg n=0 (thin; anchored near ~56%, not the 73.3% headline) — not a today driver.
Key levels (informational only today): QQQ prior high 712.01, SPY prior high 760.00 (the two sweep thresholds); IWM per the prior leg log. ADX band 18–32. None of this is reached.
Invalidation: moot — the Kill Zone never opens for signal work.
Mechanism health: SPRT CONTINUE — n=3 W2/L1, LLR +0.222; no qualifying setup since the IWM expansion. spy_leg n=1 WR 100%; iwm_leg n=0. The carried live watch remains the 09-09 QQQ near-miss (+2.25 short of the prior high, in-band ADX 30.0) — but it is not live today.
is_event_day tier_filter=2, CPI) / direction none / conviction high; Meridian p_trade 0.0 (is_event_day, CPI — the 2026-07-14 fix) / direction none / conviction high. The CPI-print open (volatile, first 20–30 min consumed, cleaner setups after ~9:45) is moot for this desk: both mechanisms are gated out before the open, and a print-set gap is categorically the breakaway population Null's v2 thesis excludes and the false-sweep regime Meridian's exhaustion rule cannot fade. Direction-refusal discipline holds (7-for-7 — no trending direction pre-assigned). No hedged maybe today: the honest forecast is zero on both.No trades taken.
PM: Wicker (persona; own stack retired 2026-07-14 — desk covers active members Null + Meridian only) Briefing reference: dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-09-11-eod.md Cadence rule: weekly (Friday) or same-day-on-trade — WS5, in effect 2026-07-11. Today is a Friday weekly reflection. Period covered: 2026-09-10 and 2026-09-11 (prior desk reflection 2026-09-09).
A two-session, zero-trade period defined by deterministic gates — one oversize-gap block for Null on the CPI-eve de-risk day, a far-from-sweep structural absence for Meridian, and a clean firm-wide CPI stand-down on both on the Friday. Desk net $0.00; both SPRTs unchanged and healthy. The tape over the two sessions resolved exactly as the two morning plans framed it: 09-10 was a contained de-risk day into CPI (QQQ fell from 716.35 to 708.73, SPY to 757.87, both sub-ATR, 10-yr at a 52-week high, oil >$100, PPI +5.4% y/y hot, ECB hiked +25bp) — a quiet, direction-unknown drift; 09-11 was the Tier-1 print day — CPI (Aug) in line headline (+0.4%/+3.4%) with a hot core (+0.3% m/m vs +0.2% cons), the tape gapped up at 8:30 and held (SPY +0.83% / QQQ +0.87%, gap-and-hold relief rally snapping a four-day losing streak; SPY 1.52× ATR by true range but the whole move was the open gap), VIX fell −2.00 to 15.84 (LOW <18). Both members hard-skipped on the CPI no_trade:event_day:CPI_tier1 — a deterministic, code-enforced stand-down (Null is_event_day tier_filter=2; Meridian the 2026-07-14 is_event_day() return-before-fetch fix), firm-wide NO-GO per the Scanner watchlist. The skip was correct on the merits: the print produced a gap-and-hold, not a volatile print-driven churn — the exact anti-pattern for both reversal mechanisms.
no_trade:gap_filter blocked=gap_ratio val=1.149 band=[0.1,0.7] gap=-8.770 atr14=7.63 — QQQ gapped down 8.77 pts on the PPI/ECB morning, 1.149× ATR, 64% over the 0.7 ceiling, blocked outright. 09-11: no_trade:event_day:CPI_tier1 (VIX low <18, 15.8). SPRT CONTINUE — n=14 W13/L1, LLR +2.249, cumulative +$1,881.59, WR 92.9%; first-loss watch stays N=1.no_sweep prior_high=719.70 day_high=712.01 gap_to_level=+7.69 adx_open=23.2, SPY no_sweep prior_high=764.47 day_high=760.00 gap_to_level=+4.47 adx_open=26.7, IWM volatility prior_range=3.84 ceiling=1.25x_avg avg_range=2.51 — the contained de-risk drift moved away from every prior high (QQQ day high 712.01 vs 719.70, +7.69 short). 09-11: no_trade:event_day:CPI_tier1. SPRT CONTINUE — n=3 W2/L1, LLR +0.222, cumulative +$385.22, WR 66.7%; spy_leg n=1 WR 100%, iwm_leg n=0.Both desk forecasts were honest and calibrated (calibration rows 09-10: Null brier 0.16, Meridian 0.0144; 09-11: both 0.0). 09-10's low-conviction reads (Null 0.40 none, Meridian 0.12 short) correctly priced the de-risk day; 09-11's deterministic zeros correctly priced the code-enforced stand-down. No SPRT boundary crossed.
The two-session read for this desk is one shared shape across both members: a quiet oversize-gap de-risk day followed by a gap-and-hold Tier-1 relief day, neither producing a tradeable setup for a mean-reversion edge. (1) The 09-10 de-risk gap was oversize, not sub-floor. The plan's base case was a compressed flat open (the recurring LOW-VIX sub-floor block: 08-03 0.027, 08-10 0.022, 08-14 0.084, 09-02 0.081) — instead the PPI/ECB tape printed an 8.77-pt down-gap, 1.149× ATR, blocked by the ceiling filter. This is the third oversize-gap block in the recent stretch (09-01 0.933, 09-10 1.149) — this tape is currently producing oversize gaps, not the in-band 0.1–0.7× shape Null's edge needs. (2) Meridian's 09-09 near-miss (+2.25 short, in-band ADX 30.0) did not repeat — on 09-10 the contained de-risk drift pushed the tape well away from the prior highs (QQQ +7.69 short), the structurally-forecast base case (fragile-value drift away from sweep levels), not the conditional tail. (3) On 09-11 the CPI print gap was itself oversize — QQQ opened 715.43 vs prior close 708.73, a +6.70-pt (0.87× ATR) gap, above the 0.7 ceiling — so even without the Tier-1 gate, the gap-size filter would have blocked Null (informational confirmation that the deterministic skip cost this session nothing). The 7-for-7 (now through 09-10) direction-refusal discipline held and was moot on 09-11.

| Meridian | No (09-10 no_sweep, tape away from highs; 09-11 CPI skip) | $0.00 | 66.7% (2/3) | +0.222 | CONTINUE |
Desk net paper P&L: $0.00 (both sessions). Both SPRTs CONTINUE — no boundary crossing.
Null's binding gate on 09-10 was gap_ratio val=1.149 band=[0.1,0.7] — QQQ gapped down 8.77 pts (1.149× ATR) on the PPI/ECB morning, 64% over the 0.7 ceiling. This is not a near-miss: a 0.7→1.149 gap is a clean regime block, the same oversize-gap signature as 09-01 (0.933×). The mean-reversion thesis is defined by small manufactured overnight imbalance; a 1.149× fundamental repricing gap is categorically outside it. This tape is currently producing oversize gaps — the mirror-side regime pressure of the LOW-VIX sub-floor stretch (which produced a cluster of sub-floor flat-open blocks in early August) — and neither extreme is a grazed threshold. On 09-11 the gate was the deterministic Tier-1 CPI event skip (no_trade:event_day:CPI_tier1), which closes before any gap is even measured. The plan's informational item paid off: the CPI cash-open gap printed at ~0.87× ATR (715.43 open vs 708.73 prior close, ATR 7.71) — outside the 0.1–0.7× band, so the event skip cost Null nothing this session; a breakaway CPI gap is the very population v2 excludes.
no_sweep (structural — the de-risk drift moved AWAY from prior highs, +7.69 QQQ / +4.47 SPY); 09-11 = Tier-1 CPI event gate (deterministic) — REGIME, no calibration on any thresholdMeridian's binding gate on 09-10 was no_sweep on QQQ and SPY — the contained de-risk tape drifted lower and never approached its prior highs: QQQ day high 712.01 vs prior high 719.70 (+7.69 short), SPY 760.00 vs 764.47 (+4.47 short), both on in-band ADX (23.2 / 26.7); IWM was blocked by the volatility gate (prior_range 3.84 vs 1.25×-avg 2.51). This is the structurally-forecast base case, the mirror of 09-09's encouraging near-miss: the bearish-only kill-zone sweep fades an exhausted up-push into a prior high, and a contained de-risk drift that moves away from the sweep levels is the wrong backdrop by construction. The 09-09 near-miss did not repeat — no tape pushed into the prior-high zone, so no exhaustion/R-authorized short existed. On 09-11 the deterministic Tier-1 CPI event gate closed the Kill Zone before it opened (no_trade:event_day:CPI_tier1). The skip was correct on the merits: a CPI print open is a volatile two-sided price-discovery auction — the anti-pattern for an exhaustion sweep, and a classic way to blow the ADX ceiling.

Narrative finding: the desk's two members produced coherent no-trade outcomes from the same shared two-session read. The 09-10 de-risk day was direction-unknown and gap-oversize — Null's mechanism was blocked by the ceiling (1.149×) and Meridian's by sweep-absence (the drift moved away from every prior high), both structural, both correctly forecast at low conviction. The 09-11 CPI day was a deterministic firm-wide stand-down, and the print's gap-and-hold resolution (a clean breakaway move, not a churn) vindicated both skips on the merits. No numeric gate threshold was "wrong" on either session — Null's was an oversize-gap regime block plus a deterministic event rule, Meridian's was structural absence plus a deterministic event rule. Nothing to escalate, no unilateral tweak.
iwm_leg sub-book monitoring (carried). n=0 (09-10 volatility-blocked; 09-11 event skip). Too thin to read; continues. Two no-trade sessions, both deterministic-gate driven and both correctly forecast: Null was blocked on 09-10 by an oversize gap (gap_ratio 1.149× vs the 0.7 ceiling — 64% over, a clean regime block, not a graze) and hard-skipped on 09-11 no_trade:event_day:CPI_tier1 (the CPI cash-open gap printed ~0.87× ATR, outside the band anyway — the skip cost nothing); SPRT CONTINUE n=14 W13/L1 LLR +2.249, WR 92.9%, first-loss watch N=1, cumulative +$1,881.59. Meridian was blocked on 09-10 by no_sweep on QQQ/SPY (the contained de-risk drift moved away from the prior highs, +7.69/+4.47 short on in-band ADX 23.2/26.7 — the structurally-forecast base case, and the 09-09 near-miss did not repeat) and hard-skipped on 09-11 for CPI; SPRT CONTINUE n=3 W2/L1 LLR +0.222, iwm_leg n=0, cumulative +$385.22. Desk net $0.00; both SPRTs healthy, nothing to escalate, no unilateral tweak on either. Carried watch: Meridian's first qualifying setup since the IWM expansion forms only when a tape pushes QQQ into the prior-high zone with exhaustion — not on a drift-away day.
