Desk Plan — House Delta — 2026-09-11

Briefing reference: /Users/dadbot/Desktop/ClaudeBod/projects/dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-09-11-pm.md PM: DELTA

Shared Market Read

  • Event risk today: HIGH (Tier-1, same-day) — August CPI prints TODAY at 8:30 AM ET (headline cons +0.4% m/m / +3.4% y/y; core +0.2% m/m / +2.4% y/y, range 0.1–0.3% m/m). It is the last clean inflation input before the Sep 16 FOMC, priced ~70% for a 25bp hike (up from ~60% a week ago; an October hike fully absorbed after yesterday's hot PPI +5.4% y/y). Firm-wide status: NO-GO. Michigan prelim sentiment (10:00, MEDIUM — watch the year-ahead inflation-expectations line) and a light earnings Friday round it out.
  • Session character expected: Binary into 8:30, then trending on the print. The briefing is explicit: this is not the idle policy-coin-flip profile of the prior quiet weeks — the day's entire information sits in the 8:30 release, and direction is genuinely unknown until it lands. Expect a volatile open, the first 20–30 minutes consumed by the print, cleaner structure only after ~9:45. Do not pre-assign which leg fails: the semis/AI-infra complex is the yield-sensitive swing leg on both sides of the CPI axis (hot core → hawkish leg re-arms, presses yields, chips the weak leg; soft core → relief bid, Oracle's +6.6% premarket gap the first expression of it).
  • VIX regime: 17.21 (-0.63 vs 17.84 prior close) — LOW (<18), exactly the regime DELTA's mechanism does best in (dev PF 2.59, VIX < 20) and far under the 30 hard-skip. Favorable regime is moot today: the hard skip closes the session before any vol question is asked.
  • Key levels: DELTA's only load-bearing number is the leader's first-hour return off the 09:30 cash open, checked at 09:55, vs the ±1.5% floor. The briefing carries no pre-market prices for NVDA, ASML, AMD or TSM — it is Alpaca-verified at the index/ETF level (SPY 757.87, QQQ 708.73 prior close; both below their 20-day SMAs) and gives only a directional semis read (Nvidia "modestly firmer", Oracle's AI-infra bid, Asia chips sharply lower: Nikkei -1.9%, Kospi -1.8%). The pair/spread inputs require live confirmation at the cash open; no instrument-level price is adoptable and none is invented here. Index context: SPY 756.64–760.00 prior-day range, ATR(14) 5.34; QQQ 706.92–712.01, ATR(14) 7.53.
  • Macro backdrop: A rates-heavy, stagflation-tilted tape into a hike-priced FOMC — 10-yr at 4.94% (2023 high), oil holding >$104 (Brent cooled off Thursday's ~$110), diesel at a record $6/gal — with CPI as the pendulum that decides whether a hike is priced-in-already or a fresh hawkish shock. Oracle's after-close beat (RPO $664B, FY27 guide raised) is a positive AI-infra read-through; Adobe gapped ~-2% on soft RPO.

DELTA — Lead-Lag Pairs (NVDA→ASML, AMD→TSM), LONG-only

Call: No trade expected — CPI is a hard-skip day for DELTA, and the print-driven macro shape is structurally incompatible with a supply-chain lead-lag signal. p_trade 0.0, direction none, conviction high. Flat by pre-registered rule — a deterministic stand-down, not a hedged maybe.

  • Primary reason — the hard skip. CPI is in DELTA's hard-skip set (FOMC/CPI/NFP/PCE) per strategy_v2.md, enforced through paper_trade.py off data/event_calendar/. Today's 8:30 AM release closes the session before any signal logic runs: no leader impulse is evaluated, no LONG is available, no branch is scanned. Standing precedents are the 2026-08-12 CPI skip and the 2026-09-04 NFP skip, both forecast p_trade 0.0 and both logged no_trade:hard_event (Brier 0.0 each).
  • Secondary reason — even absent the skip, the mechanism and the day are structurally incompatible. The edge is an idiosyncratic first-hour information cascade (a design-company move repricing its supplier later in-session as supply-chain consequences propagate). A Tier-1 macro print reprices leader and laggard simultaneously and in one direction — systematic beta, not a cascade. The 09:30–09:55 measurement window sits entirely after the 8:30 print, so any qualifying first-hour leader move today is CPI repricing by construction. That is the same structural stand-down applied through the oil-shock mornings (08-31 → 09-02) and the 09-10 de-risk session — and today it is more strictly binding, not less.
  • Sizing: n/a — no position. Standard 0.75% single-position risk is irrelevant on a closed session. Zero exposure at the print, at the open, and into the close; DELTA's hard 15:30 flat is moot, and there is no overnight or weekend-gap exposure (the live Iran/GCC/Hormuz track into Monday's Salalah talks is a gap catalyst for anyone holding risk — DELTA is not).
  • Session-character fit: A binary-print-then-trending Friday is a macro/momentum day, not a pairs-convergence day. DELTA takes no view on which way CPI resolves — direction-refusal applies here as it does every session.
  • Up-branch / calibration status (carries forward, unchanged): The 09-04 pre-registered flag — a third NVDA up-graze inside ~0.3pp turns regime into a TEMPER calibration question — is not advanced today. A hard skip contributes no signal evidence either way (exactly as the 09-04 NFP skip did not). The grazes stand at NVDA +1.23% (09-02), +1.02% (09-03), AMD +1.20% (08-31); 09-10 logged NVDA -1.44% (down-side, longer than 15:30 — inside the floor, but the disabled-SHORT side). Flag stays queued, untouched. No unilateral gate change.
  • Invalidation / no-trade reasons: The hard skip is itself the binding gate — no_trade:hard_event:CPI. No further invalidation condition is reachable, because no evaluation runs. If the engine were somehow live, the standing invalidation still applies: a leader move that reads whole-complex macro repricing is stood down, and any intraday VIX ≥ 30 closes consideration.
  • Book state carries forward untouched: Cumulative -$442.33 across 10 LONG trades (4W/6L, WR 40.0%, PF 0.494, SPRT n=10, LLR -0.159, CONTINUE). AMD→TSM sub-book n=8, WR 25.0%, PF 0.191 stays queued for TEMPER (the 09-05 stop-calibration diagnostic read NO — widening the stop does not rescue that cell; signal/regime watch, not a parameter fix). NVDA→ASML clean cell 2W/0L remains the quality cell for the next tradeable session.
  • Watch items (informational only — no action today): the CPI resolution as the read into the Sep 16 FOMC (last clean input); whether a hot core presses the yield-sensitive semis leg into the disabled-SHORT side (the branch this LONG-only book is closed out of by design) or whether a soft print finally gives the complex a clean up-impulse; and whether Nvidia's "modestly firmer" premarket read survives the print into the next tradeable session (Mon Sep 14) — the up-floor has not been cleared since 08-03, and a fourth near-approach would matter more than today's closed session. Open event-day diagnostic run (skip disabled) remains moderate priority — today's CPI skip is precisely the data point that run exists to interrogate, and DELTA does not run it unilaterally.

House Delta — Desk Reflection — 2026-09-11

Cadence rule: Weekly/Friday or same-day-on-trade (WS5 per-desk cadence). Today is the Friday trigger. Period covered: 2026-09-04 (last desk reflection) → 2026-09-11. Scheduled sessions in window: 09-08, 09-09, 09-10, 09-11, plus the Labor Day holiday (09-07). Desk Review desks/house-delta/reviews/2026-09-review.md was filed 2026-09-05 inside this window and is carried below.

Single-member desk — no cross-member synthesis to run. The desk reflection is DELTA's own analysis at desk scope; the per-member compatibility file (agents/delta/reflections/daily_2026-09-11.md) is written separately and remains first-person.

Per-Member Binding Gate Analysis (delta — the whole load)

Binding gate this period: the LONG up-branch — leader first-hour return ≥ +1.5% off the 09:55 cash open. Reading: REGIME, not calibration — and more decisively so than last period.

  1. Zero up-side grazes occurred. Across the four scheduled sessions, none produced a logged leader first-hour move approaching +1.5% from below. The warming texture DELTA flagged on 09-04 — NVDA +1.23% (09-02), +1.02% (09-03), AMD +1.20% (08-31), three up-approaches inside ~0.5pp — did not persist into this window. The tape reverted to (and beyond) the starved/flipped shape: leaders sub-threshold or drifting down.
  2. The only floor interactions were on the untradeable side. 09-08 logged NVDA first-hour −1.55% — a clean clear of the ±1.5% floor, but on the down side, which is the disabled-SHORT branch (no_trade:short_disabled); and 09-10 logged NVDA −1.44%, 0.06pp inside that same down floor (AMD −0.74%). Under ENABLE_SHORT = False a leader moving down is the branch this book is closed out of by design — not a LONG near-miss. Counting down-branch clears/graze as calibration evidence for the LONG gate would be a category error; they are tracked separately and are supporting data for the standing SHORT-gate/shadow-book conversation, nothing more.
  3. The pre-registered watch-to-escalate did NOT trigger. DELTA's 09-04 reflection set an explicit condition: a third NVDA up-graze inside ~0.3pp → this tips from regime into a calibration question for TEMPER. The condition was another up-graze; there was none. The calibration question therefore stays dormant — unraised, unactioned. This is the clean, honest disposition: the watch fired negative, not positive.
  4. One observation is missing, and it is the informative one. 09-09 has no execution row in trades.csv and no performance/daily_2026-09-09.md — the per-agent 60s run-trades watchdog skipped the stack on 09-09 and 09-10 ("delta failed or exceeded 60s"). 09-10 was later backfilled standalone and confirmed no_trade (AMD −0.74% / NVDA −1.44%); 09-09 remains a hole. That is the single session whose plan flagged the strongest constructive up-fuel in ~5 weeks (NVDA +~2.8% pre-market), so the period's up-branch assessment carries one missing observation exactly where it would be most informative. A missing observation is not evidence of a near-miss — it is not scored as one, and it is not calibration evidence either way. It is a pipeline-reliability defect (flagged to learnings.md 2026-09-10), and it is the desk's top operational item.

Implication — no action on the gate stack. There is no repeated single-threshold graze to justify a threshold conversation (the 09-04 warmth didn't repeat; this week's misses are on the untradeable side), so no TEMPER calibration conversation is warranted from this period. The regime texture worth naming: a LOW-to-falling-VIX tape (VIX 15.8–16.5 across the window; 15.84 at today's close) on which semiconductor leaders drift down or stay pinned sub-threshold — the structurally-starved LONG-only shape. On such a tape the tradeable direction may not be the one this book can take; the 09-08 NVDA −1.55% down-branch clear is the concrete instance of that. That reinforces the existing SHORT-gate/shadow-book conversation (already adjudicated at 07-15 and noted at the 09-05 Desk Review) — it does not open a new one. No live gate logic was touched.

Open TEMPER Items (Carried Forward)

ItemStatus this period
AMD→TSM sub-book calibration (n=8, WR 25%, PF 0.191)ADVANCED. Desk Review 2026-09-05 sized it (a)/recalibration; the diagnostic was then built and run 2026-09-05 (deliverable_amdtsm_stop_calibration_2026-09-05.{py,json}): fidelity gate 6/8 trades reproduced (07-06/07-22 excluded, unverified), and the result is that widening the stop does not rescue the sub-book — PF moves 0.073→0.119 across 2.0–4.0×, nowhere near 1.5. Verdict: stop-multiplier is not the fix. Pending TEMPER cadence-ratification at the next weekly backtest-audit. Still open. No new AMD LONG evidence this period (AMD never cleared +1.5% up).
LONG up-floor watch-to-escalate (09-04 flagged)NOT TRIGGERED — the condition required a third NVDA up-graze inside ~0.3pp; none occurred. Dormant, carried forward.
SHORT re-enablement (REJECTED by TEMPER 2026-07-15; live gate stands)Unchanged. The 09-08 NVDA −1.55% down-branch clear is a supporting data point for the standing shadow-book conversation, not a new escalation. Governing path (30 LONG trades at PF ≥ 1.5) untouched.
Event-day diagnostic (re-run with FOMC/CPI/NFP/PCE skip disabled)Still not performed — open, moderate priority (per strategy_v2.md risk register).
Rolling 6-month PF monitorNo escalation trigger this period (no new trades).
Pipeline-reliability: per-agent 60s watchdog (NEW, operational)Open, desk-top operational item. Watchdog skipped the stack on 09-09 and 09-10; 09-10 backfilled, 09-09 still a hole. Needs the run-trades data-path look (cache freshness before the per-agent run, or a higher per-agent watchdog). Already in learnings.md (2026-09-10).

Reconnaissance Ledger Items

  • Complete the 09-09 backfill (python agents/delta/paper_trade.py 2026-09-09, unset PYTHONPATH) so the period's one missing session is closed — the same standalone path that resolved 09-10 in ~14s on a warm cache.
  • Propose the ledger-freshness post-run check: every active stack must have today's performance/daily_.md after run-trades, else flag. This is the generalizable fix for the silent-observation-loss class (09-09/09-10 here; the 300s starved-runner class earlier).
  • Event-day diagnostic remains a standing obligation (see Open TEMPER items).

Desk Summary for Orchestrator

House Delta: zero trades this period (09-08 short_disabled, 09-09 observation lost, 09-10 no_signal, 09-11 Tier-1 CPI hard-skip); period net $0.00, cumulative −$442.33 (10 trades, 40% WR), SPRT CONTINUE unchanged (LLR −0.159). The binding gate is the LONG up-branch (leader first-hour ≥ +1.5%) and the data says regime, not calibration — more decisively than last period: zero up-side grazes, and the only floor interactions were on the untradeable disabled-SHORT side (NVDA −1.55% 09-08 clear, −1.44% 09-10). The 09-04 watch-to-escalate did not trigger (no third up-graze), so no TEMPER calibration conversation is warranted; no gate logic touched. One operational hole: 09-09 has no execution row and no performance log (per-agent 60s watchdog skipped the stack 09-09/09-10; 09-10 backfilled, 09-09 unfilled) — the one session whose plan flagged the strongest up-fuel is the one that cannot be verified. AMD→TSM stop-calibration deliverable built/run 09-05 ("stop-multiplier is not the fix"), pending TEMPER weekly cadence-ratification.

Reflection Filed

  • Filed: 2026-09-11 (EOD, desk cadence — Friday trigger)
  • Next session: Mon Sep 14 — no Tier-1 until FOMC Sep 16 (my next hard-skip; decision + SEP + presser Wed 16th, ~87% hike-priced, live question "one-and-done vs. a cycle"). Monday's live driver is the Iran/GCC Oman talks on a Hormuz shipping corridor (two-sided weekend gap risk; Brent $104, +9% on the week, 10-yr ~4.97% just under the 5% line). Watch: whether the post-CPI relief tape and the falling VIX (15.84) finally produce a clean ≥1.5% first-hour up-impulse on NVDA→ASML, or whether the down/drift texture persists.
