Shared Market Read
- Event risk today: HIGH — and it is the literal-HIGH rule, not my own calendar. There is no Tier-1 US release today (PPI, Jobless Claims, Existing Home Sales, EIA are all MEDIUM; ECB is MEDIUM global-rates). But CPI is TOMORROW (Fri Sep 11, 8:30 ET) — a same-next-day Tier-1 print — which applies the literal-HIGH rule and frames the whole session as a de-risk into the CPI/FOMC gate. Today's own macro stack is the run-up read: ECB decision 8:15 AM (expected +25bp to 2.5%), PPI Aug 8:30 AM (consensus +0.4% m/m, strongest in three months — the CPI pre-read), Jobless Claims 8:30, Existing Home Sales 10:00, EIA Petroleum 10:30, Oracle (ORCL) after the close (options-implied ~10% move, day before CPI). Neither of this desk's stacks hard-skips today — the hard-skip set is FOMC/CPI/NFP/PCE, and CPI is tomorrow, not today. PPI is not a skip. This is a LIVE, GO session.
- Session character expected: news-driven / contained / two-tier / direction NOT pre-assignable. This is the firm's coin-flip class (refusal now 5-for-5 on policy/rates/trade days). The day-before-CPI de-risk plus a same-day PPI print argues for rotation, not trend — the honest call is "contained, two-tier, direction unknown." The value/consumer-Dow leg is flagged fragile (10-yr at a fresh 52-week high ~4.86%, oil >$100, US–Canada trade war escalating); tech/semis is the offsetting leg. Two prints before 8:30 (ECB 8:15, PPI 8:30) mean the first 30 minutes are print-driven noise; structure may not form cleanly until the 10:00 AM dust settles.
- VIX regime: 16.53 — LOW (<18), a fourth straight drift higher on the risk/rates stack (+0.07 vs prior close 16.46), not realized vol. LOW VIX is each stack's best-backtested regime (MNEME VIX<20 PF 2.39; TRACE VIX<20 PF 2.46) — but it is not a reason to expect a fire; it is the regime where both long-only KNN continuations have been correctly declining on contained/two-sided character. Watch for a spike through ~18 (one-way-tape alarm).
- Key levels: SPY prior close 762.42, prior range 761.00–764.45, SMA20 768.25 (SPY closed a third session at/under its 20-day — the value-led break is confirmed); ATR(14) 5.43. QQQ prior close 716.35, prior range 714.04–719.63, SMA20 717.30 (QQQ's first close under — the two-tier divergence is live, tech still the resilient leg); ATR(14) 7.39. DIA is not in the briefing price block — confirm at the open for framing only; TRACE's own data path and KNN gates govern. A >1.5% open gap either direction is both stacks' standing "pattern-library-thin-at-index-extremes" invalidation.
- Macro backdrop: The stagflation-tilted week into the FOMC — Brent holding >$100, the 10-yr at a fresh 52-week high, the US–Canada trade war escalating, an ECB hike this morning, and a hawkish-Fed reprice (FedWatch ~62% Sept-hike vs ~65/93 economists expecting a hold) — with CPI tomorrow as the gate and the FOMC Sep 16 the destination. Counterweight: tech/semis resilience, which has kept sessions contained and sub-ATR.
- Desk-wide stance — LIVE but character-cautious; coin-flip direction refused; both stacks long-only continuation. No hard skip and no forced fire. This is the family's structurally challenging class: the day-before-CPI de-risk tape, where a broad-index long continuation is not pre-assignable. Both stacks' binding gate — the KNN vote threshold (≥62%) on whatever data arrives — is the arbiter. The honest base case is another stand-down on sub-bar votes: yesterday's live template (MNEME's Window-A 60% high-confidence skip; TRACE's Window-C 70%/sim 0.7222 fire that lost −$12.78 on the fragile leg) is the read. Forecasts are modest (MNEME 0.20, TRACE 0.25, both long, low conviction) because the mechanism is healthy but the character is wrong. GHOST stays frozen (Phase 2, Decision D2) — no plan, no forecast.
MNEME — SPY KNN (p_trade 0.20, long, low)
Setup present: possible, not likely — a live day on the character that keeps declining me, and that is the honest call. I do not hard-skip (no Tier-1 today; PPI is not a skip). My mechanism is healthy — SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (23 trades, 47.8% WR, +$1,041.36, LLR +3.793). But yesterday I logged no_trade:knn_gate on a full three-window read where every window's similarity cleared the 0.50 floor yet every vote landed sub-bar (A:vote=60%/62% B:47%/62% C:47%/62%) — a 2pp graze on my strongest window, read as a high-confidence skip on the value-led two-tier tape. Today's character is the same class, one day closer to CPI. My realistic fire path is not the open — with ECB 8:15 and PPI 8:30 both before the bell, my Window A observation span (9:30–10:00) is the print-noise window, which is precisely where most of my recent fires have come from (08-10, 08-13, 08-17, 08-21, 08-24, 08-31, 09-08 were all Window A). The realistic path is the afternoon, IF the gap stabilizes and a clean continuation forms by Window B (observe 10:00–12:00, trade 14:00–16:00) or Window C. Vote gate (≥62%) and max_sim (≥0.50) remain the binding arbiter; my read is a de-risk two-sided day lands sub-bar.
- Sizing vs. event risk: Standard — 0.75% per trade ($187.50 on $25K), max $75K notional. Event risk HIGH does not size me down here: the hard-skip set is calendar-anchored (FOMC/CPI/NFP/PCE) and CPI is tomorrow, not today — a live-day, not a skip. The KNN gates are not sizing inputs. No defensive sizing, no half-size, no shadow book.
- Session-character fit: poor-to-moderate. De-risk, two-tier, news-driven gap-resolution is the wrong-character class for a long-only broad-index continuation, and today it carries an extra handicap: Window A — my most frequent firing window — observes the noise burst that ECB + PPI create, so the window most likely to fire me is the one with the poorest library-match quality today. Windows B/C remain the clean-structure path but are regime-prone on this tape (both 47% yesterday). My flagged Window B two-tier laggard-leg whipsaw stays at N=2 (07-24, 08-27) — a third same-shaped Window B stop-out clears N=3 and re-tests the session-character framing. Window C is flagged (holdout PF 1.25) — a C-fire on a two-sided day gets extra scrutiny; rolling-15 PF <1.2 monitor open.
- Key levels: SPY prior close 762.42, prior range 761.00–764.45, SMA20 768.25 (third session under — the confirmed value-led break). Whether the post-gap tape HOLDS the prior-range low 761.00 and works back toward the 20-day tells me whether a library-recognizable continuation can form; a break below 761 toward a one-way value-led move = no clean long continuation for my library to find. ATR(14) 5.43.
- Invalidation — absolute stand-down if: (1) SPY gaps >1.5% at the open either direction — pattern-library-thin-at-extremes; (2) the cost stack accelerates into a one-way risk-off break — VIX spiking through ~18 and SPY slicing below 761 with no reclaim; on such a tape a long-only KNN has nothing clean to continue and any match is spurious. Futures are near-flat/mixed, so (1) is not expected, but the open is the first read of whether the PPI/ECB gap holds or fades.
- What I'm watching: (1) Does SPY hold 761.00 off the gap and work back toward the 20-day, or slice through — continuation-versus-break governs my only realistic fire path (afternoon). (2) Whether the tech/semis leg's relative strength lets a broad-index continuation form despite the fragile value leg — the difference between a fire and a stand-down. (3) Whether Window A prints a sub-bar vote on the PPI/ECB noise (expected) and whether B/C build clean structure after the 10:00 dust settles.
TRACE — DIA KNN (p_trade 0.25, long, low)
Setup present: possible — materially more live than at any point in seven weeks, on the one window (C) the morning prints do not touch, but on the wrong instrument for today's character. No hard skip (no Tier-1 today; GO). The 09-05 fetch_today_sip_embargo fix is now 2-for-2 live (full three-window reads on 09-08 and 09-09 with real past samples — past_n=1728), so the observability constraint that capped me for seven weeks is cleared and my gates can actually be reached. Yesterday my gates fired at notably high strength — Window C, vote 70.0%, max_sim 0.7222, well above the 0.60 floor — and the trade still stopped out (−$12.78, hard-flat @ 524.76) because DIA = the Dow = the fragile value leg on the two-tier tape. Today that read is unchanged and if anything sharper: the 10-yr at a 52-week high, oil >$100, and the escalating Canada trade war all press the Dow's consumer/industrial tilt, leaving only XOM/CVX as the energy counterweight. A long-only Dow continuation is structurally challenged if the value leg leads down. My binding gates (K=10, max_sim ≥ 0.60, vote ≥ 62%) are the arbiter; with data flowing, a legitimate C-fire is genuinely live — and I will neither force nor suppress it.
- Sizing vs. event risk: Standard 0.75% ($187.50), max $75K notional if it fires. Event risk HIGH is a live-day (CPI tomorrow, not today); KNN gates are not sizing inputs. No defensive sizing. The DEGRADED clock is explicitly not a sizing input — LLR −2.057, now only −0.888 from the −2.944 DEGRADED boundary after yesterday's qualifying C-fire stop-out; the pre-registered desk-PM-review-within-1-session / TEMPER-within-5 protocol is now near-activated. I forecast honestly and let the gates decide; a near-boundary SPRT neither forces a fire (to test the mechanism) nor suppresses a legitimate one.
- Session-character fit: poor. The Dow is the two-tier day's fragile leg — the structurally unfavorable read for a long-only Dow continuation (confirmed on 09-09: a 70%/0.7222 C-fire still lost). A second consecutive C-fire into the same fragile-leg character would be the desk's live question, not a signal-quality one.
- Key levels: DIA is not in the briefing price block — confirm the gap at the open for framing only. My recent Phase 3 band is ~$515–535 (last two real C-fires: 08-27, $535.71; 09-09, $524.85). Whether the Dow holds its opening dip or fades further off the oil-cost/tariff pressure tells me whether today would have been a library-recognizable continuation day.
- Invalidation: (1) The runner returns all-window
no_data on a normal (non-starvation) session — a definitive escalation datapoint that the 09-05 fix did not hold; after 2 clean sessions this is now the low-probability branch, but still the strongest stand-down reason if seen. (2) DIA gaps >1.5% either direction — pattern-library-thin-at-extremes. (3) A one-way risk-off break on the Dow's fragile leg into the close. - What I'm watching: (1) Does the full three-window read deliver a third consecutive session — observability strengthening toward formally closing the ASSAY hand-off. (2) Whether DIA's energy members (XOM/CVX) offset the fragile consumer/industrial leg, or the value leg leads down — DIA's two-sided internal character. (3) Whether any Window-C vote/sim reading lands on clean continuation bars or on oil/tariff-gap noise — a news-driven session's matches are diagnostic of the library, not evidence for the 62%-cluster thesis.
Pooled note (Family 5)
Both stacks are LIVE today (no hard skip; GO; HIGH event risk is a CPI-tomorrow framing, not a today skip) — so a co-fire is structurally possible (both long-only). Per pooled validation, a same-day trade across MNEME and TRACE counts as one clustered observation for significance. Both stacks' binding gates are the KNN vote threshold on whatever data arrives; neither stack's forecast here touches execution (plans are scored, never binding). SPRT monitors stay as filed (MNEME CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST LLR +3.793; TRACE CONTINUE LLR −2.057, −0.888 from DEGRADED) and only move if a trade logs. The two members are separately reasoned above: MNEME's handicap today is the morning-noise window (its best window is compromised); TRACE's handicap is the instrument (DIA is the fragile leg) on the one window the noise does not touch — I do not let one stack's reasoning bleed into the other's. GHOST stays frozen (Phase 2, Decision D2) — no plan, no forecast. The session's spine is whether the PPI/ECB gap holds or fades after the 10:00 dust settles and whether tech's relative strength lets any clean continuation form; next Tier-1 is CPI tomorrow Fri Sep 11, then FOMC Sep 16. Coin-flip discipline honored: no trending direction pre-assigned for either member's instrument.
Plan Filed
- Filed: 2026-09-10 04:32 PT (pre-open — briefing 07:01 ET, watchlist 07:20 ET, both authoritative)
- Frontmatter forecasts complete for every active member: yes
- GHOST: FROZEN (Phase 2) — not planned for
- Firm-wide status: GO (no Tier-1 today; the session is a de-risk into CPI tomorrow — the HIGH rating is the next-day literal-HIGH rule, not a today hard-skip)
