Setup present: no — entry at today's open is mechanically out of reach. No trade expected.
Flat book (state/position_ledger.json → open_position: null), so no exit due in the 5-day cycle today. The entry that would fire at today's open is determined by the run settling at yesterday's (09-02) close — the script-logged measurement thru 09-02 is −2.95%, nowhere near the ±4.97% gate. No entry triggers at today's open. With only one possible trade per session (an entry at the open from the prior close's flag; no exit due; no other entry path), a real trade today is mechanically excluded — p_trade 0.0, conviction high is the calibrated call, consistent with the clean no-trade Brier streak.
Today is a measurement day: the run settling at today's (09-03) close decides whether an entry fires at Friday's (09-04, NFP) open. From the −2.95% baseline, IWM would need roughly −2.0pp more (down → contrarian LONG) or +7.9pp (up → contrarian SHORT) to cross threshold in a single session. The up leg is unreachable on any plausible tape. The down leg is ~2pp away and building (the run has compounded −1.30% thru 09-01 → −2.95% thru 09-02 as oil/rate pressure grinds the small-cap leg lower) — but crossing it needs a ~2% single-session IWM drop on a LOW-VIX (15.40), contained, flat-to-firm pre-NFP day. That is tail-scale, not a contained slide. The setup is structurally absent again today, though the down→contrarian-LONG bias is the closest it has been in weeks and is the number to watch resolve over the NFP pivot, not today.
On the NFP relevance for a 5-day hold: I am flat going into tomorrow's NFP — no position is held over it, so the pivot costs nothing this cycle. Were a flag to settle at today's close, the entry would open Friday (09-04) post-NFP (9:30 ET, after the 8:30 print) and hold through the 09-11 CPI on its final day by design — inherent to the validated mechanism, already covered by the COVID-tail-calibrated 15%-of-equity sizing (worst trade −19.66% ≈ −3% of equity). No adjustment, no avoidance logic exists and none is warranted.
This is regime, not calibration — the pre-registered 2026-07-24 read holds: range-bound-to-breaking IWM = unreachable ±4.97% threshold = expected behavior, not edge degradation. The near-miss distribution keeps scattering ~2–5pp short of both legs without clustering at either threshold; the down-leg build (−2.95%) is a regime-trend observation, not a repeated threshold graze. SPRT sits at n=0, LLR +0.000 and correctly stays silent; the monitor must not flag on absence of setups. No TEMPER conversation warranted.
Sizing / adjustments: None — standard operating procedure. Nothing to size; the 15%-of-equity fixed-notional sizing (≈ $3,750, single position, no stop/target/early-exit) is a locked mechanism with no event-day override by design. The MEDIUM event risk and pre-NFP tape are gate-irrelevant when flat with no signal and no scheduled exit.
What I'm watching (for future windows, not today's action):
Invalidation: None applies — flat, no entry reachable today (−2.95% thru 09-02 vs ±4.97%; ~2pp short of the down leg, ~7.9pp short of the up leg with only a tail-scale single-day IWM move able to close either), no scheduled exit. The two-sided geopolitical tape and pre-NFP positioning do not bind an open-and-hold swing entry (no position today; any flag settling at today's close enters Friday's open). A no-trade day is the mechanism working as designed, not a failure.
no_trade:no_signal (blocked=run_magnitude, script-logged run thru 09-02 −2.95% vs ±4.97%; flat, no exit due)No trades taken.
