Shared Market Read

  • Event risk today: HIGH — but the Tier-1 risk lands TOMORROW, not today. Bucket A flags July PCE (Aug 26, 8:30 ET) + NVDA Q2 (after close Aug 26) as a stacked macro + single-name binary cluster on one day, with Jackson Hole (Aug 27–29) and Warsh's speech later this week. Today's own scheduled macro (housing at 9 AM, Consumer Confidence at 10 AM, forecast 90.3 vs 90.8 prior, soft consumer read in context; New Home Sales 10 AM) is MEDIUM-low and not itself market-moving. Neither stack hard-skips today (the skip set is FOMC/CPI/NFP/PCE — PCE is tomorrow, not today), so no window is mechanically locked, but this is a positioning day.
  • Session character expected: news-driven / two-sided churn / pre-positioning. Futures firm and tech-led (Nasdaq-100 +0.87%, S&P +0.42%), but the briefing is explicit: a firm premarket is a pre-event bid, not a directional statement — "do not chase index-level strength into the eve of a binary macro + earnings day." Expect structure to form late (after the 10 AM data clears), with fade-on-strength the live skew. The chip complex (MU −3.35%, AMAT −2.07%, SNDK weak) is soft into NVDA and is the live risk leg; oil's slide to a one-week low is a gentle cross-asset tailwind (easing input costs and yields), not a sector program.
  • VIX regime: 15.85 — LOW (<18). Both stacks' best backtested regime (MNEME VIX<20 PF 2.39; TRACE VIX<20 PF 2.46). Favorable for any qualifying continuation — IF a clean window resolves.
  • Key levels: SPY prior close 763.46, prior range 762.08–765.19, SMA20 763.51 — SPY is now marginally BELOW SMA20 (a fresh breach), ATR(14) 5.02. QQQ prior close 706.38, range 702.83–709.65, SMA20 710.36 (below). DIA Phase 3 band ~$515–524 (last entry 07-27 at $523.31); DIA not in the briefing price block — confirm gap at the open.
  • Macro backdrop: Pre-event positioning day ahead of tomorrow's PCE + NVDA binary; tech-led gap-up is a pre-event bid, not a clean risk-on statement. Both indices sit marginally below the 20-day SMA — a fresh stress signal on the tech leg (briefing: "uptrend broadly intact but the chip/NVDA complex is the pressure point"), not a trend break. Cross-currents from bonds (long yields easing to ~4.70%) have reached stocks.
  • Structural mapping for both stacks — the differential event exposure is the day's core read (and it INVERTS from 08-24): the scheduled headline today is the 10 AM Consumer Confidence print, and the three KNN windows have materially different exposure:
  • Window A (observe 9:30–10:00, enter 10:00, hard flat 12:00): entry coincides exactly with the 10 AM data. The soft-consumer-read forecast (90.3 vs 90.8) is a mild downside skew at the entry bar. NOT the clean path it was on 08-24.
  • Window B (observe 10:00–12:00, enter 12:00, hard flat 16:00): the cleanest fit today. Its observation window starts AFTER the 10 AM data clears, so the pattern library reads the post-data resolution, and the 12:00 entry is clean of today's macro. Holds to 16:00 but flat today (no overnight risk — the PCE/NVDA binary is tomorrow).
  • Window C (observe 12:00–14:00, enter 14:00, hard flat 15:30): clean of today's data, but it is MNEME's flagged window (holdout PF 1.25) and enters into a pre-NVDA afternoon — lowest-quality structural fit.

MNEME — SPY KNN (p_trade 0.40, long, low)

Setup present: the mechanism is live and just proved itself twice in a row — 08-21 (vote=73.3%, sim=0.8499, +$213.15) and 08-24 (vote=86.7%, sim=0.8064, the most decisive A fire of the run, +$150.43) — both decisive Window A continuations after the four-session 60% cluster resolved. SPRT is CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (LLR +4.602), LOW VIX 15.85 is my best regime. That is the bullish case, and it raises my base rate: since the cluster resolved, decisive A fires have become the live base rate, not the exception (the 08-24 reflection flags my Window A p_trade as under-stated ~0.1–0.2, now n=2). But today is structurally harder than either of those two winning sessions, and that is why I hold at LOW conviction: (1) it is a positioning day — the briefing explicitly says don't chase index-level strength into tomorrow's binary; (2) SPY closed marginally below SMA20 (763.46 vs 763.51) — a fresh breach, not the "above SMA20 near record" backdrop of 08-24; (3) Window A's 10:00 entry coincides exactly with the Consumer Confidence print (forecast soft at 90.3 vs 90.8), the one timing conflict 08-21/08-24 did not have (their events were 2 PM, leaving A clean). I forecast 0.40 — a genuine nudge up from the under-stated 0.38, acknowledging the resolved decisive-fire regime, but not a big bet, because a pre-event positioning tape with a fresh SMA20 breach and a soft-consumer print at the A-entry is exactly the kind of day where a gap-up is a pre-event bid that fades.

  • Sizing vs. event risk: Standard 0.75% ($187.50), one position — with an explicit window-quality call. Window B is the preferred path today (observation starts after the 10 AM data clears, so it reads the post-data resolution; 12:00 entry is clean of today's macro). Window A is reduced-conviction — the 10:00 entry is into the soft-consumer-data print; a decisive A vote would still be taken per the engine, but I flag it as the weaker of the two, the opposite of 08-24's ordering. Window C (14:00 entry) I do not want to fire at all — it is my flagged window (holdout PF 1.25) and enters into a pre-NVDA afternoon on a positioning day. This is conviction/selection guidance, not a lock-out — the engine retains final authority under the non-binding rule.
  • Session-character fit: Moderate-to-weak, and only on a clean continuation. The mechanism has thrived on contained recovery shapes (08-21, 08-24) in LOW VIX — that is my proven edge. But today's character is pre-positioning churn with a fade-on-strength skew, which is a lower-probability backdrop for a decisive long continuation than a contained one-way morning. A genuine, breadth-confirmed recovery off the open that survives the 10 AM data is the prerequisite; a gap-up that stalls into the print is the no-long shape.
  • Key levels: SPY prior close 763.46, prior range 762.08–765.19, SMA20 763.51 (just below). A sustained hold back above ~763.51 (SMA20) and toward/above ~765.19 (prior high) into the 10 AM data clearing is the cleanest recovery shape. A failure below ~762.08 (prior low) on a soft consumer read is the no-long continuation-down shape I must not fight with a long. Watch whether the Nasdaq-led gap-up holds breadth — if SPY tags it as a broad sector bid rather than a clean recovery, that's the two-tier polarity test against a morning continuation.
  • Invalidation (stand down): If SPY gaps > 1% at the open AND VIX ticks above 18, I sit out the AM session entirely. A soft Consumer Confidence/Housing downside that takes SPY below ~762.08 into my observation flips the day — I do not chase a long into it. 10 AM data rule (pre-committed): because Window A's entry coincides with the Consumer Confidence print, if a soft consumer read drives SPY down through the open, I do not take a Window A long into the falling print; I prefer Window B's post-data 12:00 entry, and I will not take a Window C long at 14:00 (flagged window + pre-NVDA afternoon). A pre-event repricing that inverts the morning read is an absolute stand-down for any afternoon continuation. The standing Window C rolling-15-trade PF monitor remains the watch.
  • What I'm watching to learn: (1) Whether SPY holds above ~763.51 (SMA20) through the 10 AM data and resolves Window B with a decisive vote ≥62% + sim ≥0.50 — the post-data continuation shape I'd most want; (2) whether the 10 AM Consumer Confidence soft read drags SPY below ~762.08 (the no-long shape) or is absorbed and the recovery holds — the core event test today; (3) whether my A-vote, if it fires at 10:00 into the print, sustains the post-cluster decisive-fire base rate or if the positioning-day character pulls it back sub-decisive.

TRACE — DIA KNN (p_trade 0.10, long, low)

Setup present: the structural case is against a DIA trade today, and it is unchanged from the standing Dow-leg regime. Today is a positioning day with no DIA-specific positive catalyst — the US–Canada tariff escalation was absorbed on 08-24, and today's index-level story (pre-event churn, chip complex soft into NVDA) has no particular Dow tailwind. The Consumer Confidence read (soft consumer, forecast 90.3 vs 90.8) is a mild Dow-leg headwind — the Dow is the more consumer/industrial-heavy leg. The most recent direct evidence remains decisive: on 08-21 and 08-24 — both sessions where the Dow was the firm/up-leg — my Window A voted a flat 40% with healthy similarity (0.808, 0.779, both above the 0.60 floor). The sim gate does not bind; the vote gate finds no decisive DIA continuation fingerprint even on firm Dow tapes. That is the standing REGIME reading (the 6-of-10 vote resolution point for K=10), and today's character — pre-event positioning, no Dow catalyst, mild consumer-data headwind — is not the kind of day likely to break it. I forecast a real trade at 0.10.

  • Sizing vs. event risk: Standard 0.75% ($187.50), one position — the risk is not size but probability. Separate live-risk flag (not a size input): SPRT is at LLR −1.350, −1.595 from DEGRADED (CONTINUE), now twenty sessions dry (counting today) since the last qualifying trade on 07-27. If I log a qualifying trade and it loses, the pre-registered DEGRADED protocol begins immediately; the clock still cannot start because every dry session is a no-trade day. I do not pre-emptively shrink on this; I am explicit it is the live hazard and a marginal continuation on a consumer-data day could be the one that finally trips a loss.
  • Session-character fit: Poor. Today has no Dow-specific catalyst, the consumer-data read is a mild Dow-leg headwind, and the pre-event positioning character argues against a decisive blue-chip continuation. The 08-21/08-24 evidence (firm Dow, 40% votes) is the strongest available read: even a "good" Dow day does not produce a decisive TRACE vote in the current library. Today is structurally more likely to produce another sub-bar 40% A vote than a decisive one.
  • Key levels: DIA band ~$515–524 (last entry 07-27 at $523.31); DIA not in the briefing price block — confirm gap at the open. A Dow that bleeds below ~$515 on a soft consumer read is the no-long shape; a Dow that holds the firm side while Nasdaq churns is the only path to a decisive vote — but 08-21/08-24 showed even that path yields only 40%.
  • Invalidation (stand down): If ANY window returns no_data for Window A (the observability pattern, now A-stable but B/C-blank as of 08-24), I flag it immediately as a data-path event, not a market read; if A blanks AND my low-vote pattern holds, no qualifying signal can form — I close without a trade. Absolute invalidation: if DIA gaps > 1% AND VIX breaks 18 on a headline, I sit out — an event-repricing tape, not a recognizable pattern-library day. 10 AM data rule (pre-committed): I will not take a Window A long at 10:00 into the Consumer Confidence print (entry coincides with the data; soft-consumer forecast is a Dow-leg headwind), preferring Window B's post-data 12:00 entry; I will not take a Window C long at 14:00 (flagged-equivalent fit on the Dow leg + pre-NVDA afternoon).
  • What I'm watching to learn: (1) Whether Window A delivers data at all after the A-stable/B-C-blank refinement — is the data path still holding on A-only, or has B/C recovered?; (2) how the 10 AM Consumer Confidence soft read lands on the Dow consumer/industrial leg — does it press DIA below the $515–524 band (the no-long shape) or get absorbed; (3) whether the pre-event positioning day produces yet another sub-bar 40% A vote on a firm-ish Dow — the third consecutive data point on the Dow-leg regime.

Pooled note (Family 5)

Both stacks are long-only, LOW-VIX-regime-backed, and mechanically tradeable today (PCE/NVDA is tomorrow, not a skip for today; Consumer Confidence is MEDIUM-low, not a Tier-1 lock). But the differential event exposure has INVERTED from 08-24: on 08-24 the 2 PM Bessent event made Window A the clean path; today the 10 AM Consumer Confidence print coincides with Window A's entry, making Window B (post-data observation, clean 12:00 entry) the cleaner structural fit for both stacks, with Window A reduced-conviction and Window C (flagged for MNEME, pre-NVDA afternoon) the day's explicit no-go for both. This is a positioning day — the briefing is explicit that the firm gap-up is a pre-event bid, not a directional statement, and warns against chasing index strength into tomorrow's binary. That argues for contained, non-committal setups over trend-chasing, which tempers conviction on both. MNEME is the more likely to trade (0.40 — mechanism live after two consecutive decisive-and-winning A fires, SPRT CONSISTENT, but tempered by the positioning-day character, the fresh SMA20 breach, and the data-at-A-entry); TRACE remains muted (0.10 — twenty sessions dry, firm Dow days yield only 40% A votes on the Dow-leg regime, B/C observability still unresolved, and a soft consumer read is a Dow-leg headwind). Both direction long (the mechanism is long-only — neither forecast is a macro lean). Each stack sizes independently at standard 0.75%; the risk is probability, not size. GHOST stays frozen (Phase 2, Decision D2) — no plan. No same-day co-fire is expected (TRACE near-zero); if one occurs it counts as one clustered observation per TEMPER's correlated-session rule. Standing guard against pre-assigned direction holds: key levels over bias, and the 10 AM data plus tomorrow's binary override any morning-only read.

Plan Filed

  • Filed: 2026-08-25 07:33 ET (pre-open — briefing 07:00, watchlist 07:15, both authoritative)
  • Frontmatter forecasts complete for every active member: yes
  • GHOST: FROZEN (Phase 2) — not planned for
  • Firm-wide status: GO — but a positioning day. Event risk HIGH, with the Tier-1 risk (PCE + NVDA) landing tomorrow 8/26; today's own macro (Consumer Confidence 10 AM, forecast 90.3 vs 90.8) is MEDIUM-low, not a Tier-1 lock. VIX 15.85 LOW — both stacks' best regime. Both indices marginally below SMA20 (SPY 763.46 vs 763.51 — a fresh breach; QQQ below 710.36). The 10 AM print is the day's structural input: Window B is the clean path (post-data observation), Window A reduced-conviction (entry coincides with the print), Window C no-go for both stacks. Tails: chip complex soft into NVDA (MU −3.35%), oil at a one-week low (gentle tailwind), yields easing ~4.70%.
