Shared Market Read

  • Event risk today: LOW — but with a live weekend-gap clock. No Tier-1 within ~2 days (PCE Aug 26 + NVDA earnings in 5 days; Jackson Hole Aug 27–29). Today's own macro (flash PMI 9:45, state employment 10:00, rig count 1:00 PM) is non-Tier-1, modest, and not in either stack's skip set — all three windows are mechanically tradeable AND event-clean for both members. The real risks are the unscheduled coin-flip items: (1) oil/Hormuz — Trump's Iran economic-isolation package, details due Monday, a genuine weekend-gap setup sitting just ahead of a quiet Friday (Blindspot 5); (2) rates — the 30-yr (~5.24%) near 2007 highs as the buyback relief fades; (3) consumer/Dow leg — WMT's -9% comp-miss aftermath, the fragile leg that led yesterday's Dow -1.32%. All three are catalysts on no calendar — backdrop for both stacks, not a skip.
  • Session character expected: contained, two-tier, direction UNKNOWN — the four-session-confirmed coin-flip profile. LOW VIX (15.70), both indices above SMA20 near the record, sub-ATR expected. Yesterday's broad contained pullback (SPY -0.84%, QQQ -0.71%, Dow -1.32% on WMT) did not break the uptrend. Memory is bid pre-market (MU/SNDK ~+2%, reversing yesterday), energy is bid on oil, consumer/Dow fragile on WMT. Do NOT pre-assign direction and do NOT pre-assign which leg leads — the 08-17 (leaned up → resolved down) and 08-19 (leaned tech-down → resolved up) reversals are the standing discipline, and the weekend-gap clock makes a pre-assigned lean even less trustworthy.
  • VIX regime: 15.70 — LOW (<18). Both stacks' best backtested regime (MNEME VIX<20 PF 2.39; TRACE VIX<20 PF 2.46). Favorable for any qualifying continuation signal — IF a window resolves.
  • Key levels: SPY prior close 762.62, prior range 762.07–768.12, SMA20 760.94 (above), ATR(14) 6.35. QQQ prior close 710.93, prior range 708.58–714.84. DIA recent Phase 3 band ~$515–524 (last entry 07-27 at $523.31); DIA not in the briefing price block — confirm gap at the open. Energy/memory pre-market is green; consumer/Dow is fragile — the two-tier polarity test is live into the open.
  • Macro backdrop: Uptrend intact, both indices above SMA20, LOW VIX, no trend break. Yesterday's pullback was contained (QQQ 0.72×ATR, SPY 1.11×ATR), a consolidation near the record ahead of the PCE/NVDA pivot. The live non-calendar tails (oil/Hormuz, rates, consumer) are the same coin-flip set that has defined this tape for five sessions; a quiet Friday should not be read as a clean weekend given Monday's Iran-details deadline.
  • Structural mapping for both stacks: no event exposure → all three windows (A/B/C) clean and tradeable, a standard strongest-vote-wins day for both. The binding considerations revert to each stack's own gates: MNEME's A-vote clustering at ~60% (four sessions just below the 62% bar, including 08-20's B at 93% vote blocked only on a 0.399 sim) and TRACE's recurring data-path blank + its 62% vote bar.

MNEME — SPY KNN (p_trade 0.38, long, low)

Setup present: fully tradeable and event-clean, and yesterday produced my closest single-window near-miss of the whole run — but on a contained direction-unknown Friday the A-vote keeps landing one click under the bar. Today all three windows are clean (no Tier-1, no 2 PM event), LOW VIX 15.70, SPY above SMA20 near the record. The convergence is real: 08-20 Window B resolved at vote=93% (14-of-15) but blocked on max_sim=0.399 vs the 0.50 floor — the closest any window has come to a decisive fire in the recent dry run — and the A-window has grazed exactly 60% on 08-14/08-18/08-19/08-20 (vs the 62% bar) with ample similarity every time. That B near-miss is the thing that keeps my p_trade from being lower: the vote is clearly there on a developed morning; only the best-neighbor similarity is falling short, and on a recovering continuation tape that spread can tip. But the honest base rate on a contained, direction-unknown, sub-ATR Friday after a mild-down day is a sub-62% A-vote — the continuation shape must prove itself with a clean recovery/up-fade off the open, and yesterday's mild-down close means my Window A (10:00) needs a genuine reversal, not just a hold. I forecast 0.38 — the direction is the mechanism's (long-only), not a macro lean, and the weekend-gap clock keeps me from putting more conviction on a one-day long.

  • Sizing vs. event risk: Standard 0.75% ($187.50), one position. No event exposure today → no window restriction, no defensive sizing. The weekend-gap risk (Iran details Monday) is a position-exit consideration, not a size input — my hard flat at window end means I never hold a weekend-gap overnight; a Friday entry is closed flat by 16:00 at the latest. Treat the oil/Hormuz + rates + consumer tails as backdrop, not a skip.
  • Session-character fit: Moderate. LOW-VIX continuation days are my best backtested regime, but it is also the shape where my A-vote has run sub-62% four sessions running. A clean continuation fingerprint in the 9:30–10:00 observation window is the prerequisite; without one I produce another near-miss, not a fire.
  • Key levels: SPY prior close 762.62, prior range 762.07–768.12. A sustained recovery back above ~762.62 (prior close) into 10:00 signals the converged continuation shape (cleanest A vote — the shape yesterday's B wanted). A bleed below ~762.07 (prior-day low), or a drop toward SMA20 760.94, is the no-long continuation-down shape I must not fight with a long. Watch the memory/energy bid — if SPY tags it as a sector bid, that's the two-tier polarity test for a morning continuation.
  • Invalidation (stand down): If SPY gaps > 1% at the open and VIX ticks above 18, I sit out the AM session entirely. A broadening selloff (oil/Hormuz flare or rates re-test of 2007 highs) that takes SPY below ~762.07 into my Window A observation flips the day — I do not chase a long into it. No event-window stand-down applies today (no 2:00 PM release). The standing Window C rolling-15-trade PF monitor remains the watch after the 08-11/08-13 stops.
  • What I'm watching to learn: (1) Whether the memory/energy pre-market bid holds into 10:00 and lifts SPY off the mild-down open — my clean A continuation shape (did yesterday's 93%-vote B near-miss tip over into an A fire this time?); (2) whether the consumer/Dow fragility (WMT aftermath) bleeds into SPY and holds it below ~762.07 — the two-tier polarity test; (3) whether the weekend-gap clock (Iran details Monday) induces any afternoon de-risking that disturbs Window B/C — and whether my A-vote finally clears 62% or stays glued to the 60% cluster.

TRACE — DIA KNN (p_trade 0.15, long, low)

Setup present: technically tradeable, but the binding constraint today is the data path, not the market — and 08-20's all-window blank just re-confirmed the observability failure as the desk's highest-priority open item. The 08-18/08-19 partial recovery (08-18 C resolved vote=70% blocked only on sim 0.473; 08-19 A resolved vote=60% blocked only on the 62% bar) reverted on 08-20 to an all-window no_data blank — so the A-works/B-C-blank-and-then-all-blank pattern is not a clean one-way recovery; it oscillates. Even when data does arrive, the 62% vote has been my binding gate (A at 60% on 08-19, the persistent 30–60% A-vote profile), and my 0.60 sim floor has also blocked (08-18 C at 0.473). The Dow being the firm-side consumer/value leg of a two-tier tape is a mildly cleaner blue-chip backdrop for a long vote — but a real trade needs a window to (a) actually deliver data and (b) resolve ≥62% with sim ≥0.60, and 08-20 shows neither is reliably in place. I forecast a real trade at 0.15.

  • Sizing vs. event risk: Standard 0.75% ($187.50), one position. No event exposure → no window restriction. Separate live-risk flag (not a size input): SPRT is at LLR −1.350, −1.595 from DEGRADED (CONTINUE), now eighteen sessions dry since the last qualifying trade on 07-27. If I log a qualifying trade and it loses, the pre-registered DEGRADED protocol begins immediately — and after 08-20's all-window blank, even the DEGRADED clock's start condition (a qualifying trade, win or loss) remains unmet. I do not pre-emptively shrink on this; I am explicit it is the live hazard and today could be the day it finally triggers.
  • Session-character fit: Poor-to-moderate — the direction leans firm but the data path is the real gate. The Dow being the firmer consumer/value side of a LOW-VIX two-tier tape is a cleaner blue-chip environment for a long vote if a window resolves ≥62%. But the vote gate and the data path, not the session character, are what have been blocking me.
  • Key levels: DIA band ~$515–524 (last entry 07-27 at $523.31). Whether the Dow holds the firm side (~flat) while Nasdaq moves is the two-tier test; a Dow that holds above the band on the consumer/oil cyclicals leg (CAT, HON, MMM, CVX, XOM/DVN) is the better firm-side shape and the one real path to a decisive vote. The WMT aftermath is the fragile-Dow risk — a consumer bleed into the Dow is the no-long shape.
  • Invalidation (stand down): If ANY window returns no_data for Window A (the observability pattern — 08-20's recurrence), I flag it immediately as a data-path event, not a market read, per the 08-17/08-20 reflection; if A blanks AND my low-vote pattern holds (vote < ~50%), no qualifying signal can form — I close without a trade. Absolute invalidation: if DIA gaps > 1% and VIX breaks 18 on an oil/Hormuz or rates headline, I sit out — an event-repricing tape, not a recognizable pattern-library day. No event-window stand-down applies today (no 2:00 PM release).
  • What I'm watching to learn: (1) Whether Window A delivers data at all after 08-20's all-blank — the single most important observation: is the path recovery real or is it oscillating between blank and resolve; (2) whether the Dow's consumer/oil cyclicals hold the firm side while the fragile consumer leg (WMT aftermath) is contained — tests whether my industrial tilt is right for this two-tier/oil tape; (3) the 60%-cluster question — if A resolves at ~60% (6-of-10) yet again (08-19, 08-13, 08-11), is that a distinct recurrence or the same pattern feeding the DEGRADED trigger.

Pooled note (Family 5)

Both stacks are long-only, LOW-VIX-regime-backed, and tradeable today with no event exposure in any window — a standard strongest-vote-wins day for both. Any co-firing (both log a real trade same-day) counts as one clustered observation for the pooled Family 5 record per TEMPER's correlated-session rule. I forecast MNEME the more likely to trade (0.38 — clean mechanical day, and 08-20's B at 93% vote / 0.399 sim was the closest single-window near-miss of the run, but the A-vote has grazed 60% four sessions and it's a direction-unknown Friday) and TRACE muted (0.15 — the 08-20 all-window blank re-confirmed the observability failure, and even with data the 62% vote + 0.60 sim floors bind). Both direction long (the mechanism is long-only — neither forecast is a macro lean, per the standing no-direction pre-assignment directive). The day's live risk for both is the weekend-gap clock (Iran details due Monday) plus the coin-flip set (oil/Hormuz, rates near 2007 highs, consumer/WMT aftermath) — backdrop, not a skip; no window restriction; neither stack holds overnight (hard flat by 16:00 at the latest), so the weekend-gap is a Monday concern, not a size input today. Each stack sizes independently at standard 0.75%. GHOST stays frozen (Phase 2, Decision D2) — no plan.

Plan Filed

  • Filed: 2026-08-21 08:00 ET (pre-open — briefing 07:01, watchlist 07:15, both authoritative)
  • Frontmatter forecasts complete for every active member: yes
  • GHOST: FROZEN (Phase 2) — not planned for
  • Firm-wide status: GO — LOW event risk, no Tier-1 within ~2 days (PCE Aug 26, NVDA Aug 26, Jackson Hole Aug 27–29). Contained two-tier, direction UNKNOWN (no pre-assignment). All windows event-clean for both stacks. Live weekend-gap clock: Iran economic-isolation details due Monday (Blindspot 5); coin-flip tails = oil/Hormuz (Brent ~$93), rates (30-yr ~5.24% near 2007 highs), consumer/WMT aftermath. VIX 15.70 LOW — both stacks' best regime.

Period1 trade, +$213.15 (net)0 trades, $0.00

Combined desk cumulative (Phase 3): +$626.60 across 26 trades (19 MNEME +$975.81, 7 TRACE −$349.21), combined 42.3% WR (11W/15L). One new observation this period (MNEME traded; TRACE did not — no same-day co-fire, so no correlated-session counting concern; the Family 5 pool adds 1 MNEME-only observation, total 26).

MNEME — the 60% A-vote cluster finally resolved, and it WON

MNEME traded once in the period — and it was the resolution of the standing narrative. After three consecutive no-trade days where Window A resolved at exactly 60% (08-18/08-19/08-20, plus 08-14 before the period) — each with ample similarity — the A-vote finally cleared the 62% bar on 08-21 at vote=73.3%, max_sim=0.8499, a decisive fire. Long SPY 98 @ 764.57 (10:00, Window A), exit HARD_FLAT @ 766.74 (12:00), net +$213.15. The library recognized the LOW-VIX continuation shape off the mild-down open, voted decisively, and the mechanism was rewarded. This is the healthy end of the near-miss distribution.

The period's intermediate days were textbook near-misses, not failures:

  • 08-20 Window B resolved at vote=93% (14-of-15) but blocked on max_sim=0.399 vs the 0.50 floor — the closest any window came to a fire in the recent dry run. A 93% vote is a decisive continuation read; only the best-neighbor similarity fell short. This is a genuine gate doing its job (it did not fire on a marginal-similarity day), not a graze — 0.399 vs 0.50 is a 0.10 real miss.
  • 08-19/08-18 A-votes at 60%/53% — the A-window continuation fingerprint was marginal-but-present, never decisive enough to clear 62%.

Candid self-critique on the plan-confidence boundary: my plan forecast 0.38 long, LOW conviction — and the engine fired anyway and WON. This is a plan-confidence boundary event (p_trade < 0.40, traded): the PM's cautious forecast (driven by the 60%-cluster base rate) was correctly overridden by the KNN engine, which found a genuine 73.3%/0.85 continuation vote. This is the healthy side of the boundary — the mirror image of the 07-20 co-fire where low-confidence fires both lost. Brier 0.3844, direction hit (traded long as forecast). The calibration is honest — the PM assigned low probability because the A-vote had been marginal four sessions running — and the mechanism's override was right this time. One data point, not yet a structural finding; but it earns a learnings flag as the counter-case to 07-20.

The load-bearing question — binding gate, regime or calibration? — for MNEME this period: the vote gate (Window A ≥62%), and the near-miss data says REGIME, not calibration. Four sessions clustered at exactly 60% (08-14/08-18/08-19/08-20) — with K=15 the vote increments in ~6.7pp steps, so 62% sits between 9-of-15 (60%) and 10-of-15 (66.7%); the cluster sits at the natural binomial resolution point of the gate. That consistent clustering across structurally distinct session types (mild-down pullback, FOMC-adjacent, broad down-day) is the documented KNN regime diagnostic. Critically, the cluster resolved on 08-21 with a decisive 73.3% fire that WON — the gate is not too tight (it did not miss a persistent edge); it simply clears when the continuation shape is genuinely decisive. The 08-20 B sim-miss is not a calibration signal (a real 0.10 miss below 0.50, not a graze). No unilateral tweak; no TEMPER conversation warranted. SPRT is CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (LLR +3.963), n=19, 10W/9L — today's win pushed it further into the consistent region (up from +3.324 at 08-17).

TRACE — the data path is oscillating, not recovering; today's block was a genuine market read

TRACE logged no trade all period. The period's binding gates tell a mixed observability + gate story:

  • 08-18 Window C resolved at a decisive 70% vote but blocked on the 0.60 sim floor (sim 0.473) — the vote cleared; the best-neighbor similarity did not. A real 0.13 miss below 0.60, not a graze.
  • 08-19 Window A resolved at exactly 60% (2pp below 62%) with sim 0.818 — the recurring 6-of-10 cluster, this time with healthy similarity.
  • 08-20 all-window no_data blank — a full observability failure, the recurrence the desk flagged as highest-priority (after 08-17's all-blank).
  • 08-21 Window A delivered a genuine market read (sim 0.808, above the 0.60 floor) but voted 40% — a clean no-signal, well below the bar. This is a MARKET read, not a data failure.

The critical distinction for 08-21: for the first time since the recent stretch, Window A produced an honest, complete read (healthy similarity, sub-bar vote). The block was the vote gate finding no decisive continuation — the Dow's up-move did not match a historical KNN continuation fingerprint. This is observability partially recovered (A delivered) combined with a genuine no-signal. But the recovery is oscillating, not one-way: 08-17 all-blank → 08-18 C-only → 08-19 A-only → 08-20 all-blank → 08-21 A-only. The A-works/B-C-blank window-dependence persists, punctuated by all-window blanks.

The load-bearing question — binding gate, regime or calibration? — for TRACE this period is a composite: (1) data availability (observability) on the all-blank days (08-20), and (2) the vote/sim gates on the data-arrival days — and on those days the gates bound CORRECTLY, saying REGIME, not calibration. The 60% vote cluster (08-19 A, plus the standing 6-of-10 profile) is the natural binomial resolution point for K=10 (vote increments of 10%; 60% = 6-of-10, needing 7-of-10 = 70% to clear 62%). The 08-18 C sim-miss (0.473 vs 0.60) is a real miss, not a graze — the sim floor correctly withheld on a marginal-similarity setup. No gate has been grazed repeatedly at a threshold value; the dominant constraint remains that two of the period's four sessions had no data for most windows. This is an operational/data-infra hand-off, not a calibration question. Flag for learnings.md (TRACE, desk-blind): the data path is oscillating, not one-way recovering (08-17 all-blank → 08-18 C-only → 08-19 A-only → 08-20 all-blank → 08-21 A-only); on 08-21 Window A finally delivered a genuine market read (sim 0.808 above the 0.60 floor) but voted 40% — a clean no-signal, the first honest Window-A market read in a stretch — distinguishing "market" (vote gate) from "observability" (no data) as the binding gate day-to-day. The A-works/B-C-blank window-dependence persists, punctuated by all-window blanks (08-17, 08-20). SPRT CONTINUE, LLR −1.350, −1.595 from DEGRADED; now eighteen sessions dry since the last qualifying trade on 07-27, and the DEGRADED clock still cannot start on a no-trade day — the structural hazard persists until a qualifying trade fires or the data path is fixed.

MNEME's p_trade sat at ~0.40 (0.45/0.40/0.40/0.38) across four sessions but it traded only 1-of-4 (25% actual vs ~0.41 mean forecast) — a modest over-forecast during the near-miss stretch, the direct expression of the PM seeing genuine convergence (especially 08-20's B at 93%) while the mechanism mostly failed to resolve. On the traded day, direction hit. The 0.38 LOW-confidence call that traded-and-won is the honest side of the boundary (see the MNEME section). TRACE's muted 0.15–0.20 forecasts produced near-zero Briers (0.0225–0.04) — the recurring wrong-exercised shape where a low probability flatters information-free (observability-blocked) sessions. TRACE's probability calibration continues to look honest but under-informed for data reasons, not market reasons.

Desk-level observations
  • Shared near-miss on 08-19 — the desk-level finding only pooled analysis can surface. On 08-19, both MNEME and TRACE resolved Window A at exactly 60% (2pp below the 62% bar) with healthy similarity (MNEME sim 0.735, TRACE sim 0.818). Two independent KNN engines, different instruments (SPY vs DIA) and parameters (K=15 vs K=10), converged on the same marginal 6-of-N vote on the same session. Per the shared near-miss diagnostic, the session character (the contained FOMC-adjacent pullback with no decisive continuation fingerprint in either index's opening window) was the binding factor — not the instrument. This is a regime signal: the 62% threshold is positioned at both members' natural vote-resolution point, and the market simply did not offer a decisive continuation shape that day.
  • The intra-desk asymmetry is now about resolution, not just data. The 08-17 reflection framed the asymmetry as "MNEME exercised its mechanism, TRACE could not." This period sharpened it: MNEME's marginal A-votes finally resolved decisively on 08-21 (73.3%, WIN), while TRACE's A-votes stayed sub-bar (60%, then 40%) and its data path oscillated. Both are long-only LOW-VIX continuation mechanisms; the divergence is in whether the instrument's opening window produced a decisive fingerprint. On 08-21 SPY's A did (MNEME won) while DIA's A did not (TRACE's Dow was actually the session leader, up ~+1%, yet DIA's library found no continuation fingerprint) — a genuine instrument-level divergence, not a shared session effect.
  • Standing threads: (1) MNEME's all-long LOW-VIX continuation calibration — the 60% A-vote cluster resolved on 08-21 with a profitable decisive fire; SPRT CONSISTENT (LLR +3.963), watch don't act. (2) TRACE's data path — oscillating, not one-way recovering (08-20 all-blank → 08-21 A-only); the data-infra/runner-logging diagnosis remains the desk's highest-priority open item, and the DEGRADED-clock hazard grows with every no-trade day (now 18 sessions dry). Neither thread is a calibration signal that would license a unilateral change.

Event Risk vs. Expectation

  • Event risk call (LOW — no Tier-1 within ~2 days; flash PMI 9:45, state employment 10:00, rig count 1:00 PM non-Tier-1): Held, correctly. Neither stack carries these in its skip set; all three windows event-clean for both. The flash PMI printed a mfg miss / services beat (both non-reversing, no repricing) — exactly the "non-Tier-1, non-reversing" profile the AM forecast. The week's real pivots (PCE Aug 26 + NVDA Aug 26, Jackson Hole Aug 27–29) were correctly flagged outside today.
  • Session character call: Texture and direction-refusal right. The plan's "contained, two-tier, direction UNKNOWN — do not pre-assign" base held: a sub-ATR (SPY 0.89×), last-hour-flat, modest broad advance with the Dow leading up (~+1%). The AM's named live pockets (rates-buyback-fade, oil/Hormuz Brent ~$93, crypto/COIN +10%) were the actual drivers. The EOD grades the morning narrative STUCK (5-for-5 on the coin-flip direction refusal). For MNEME this meant a genuine A continuation fire that won; for TRACE the Dow's own up-move did not produce a DIA continuation fingerprint (vote 40%).
  • Invalidations: none triggered. SPY never gapped >1%, VIX stayed LOW (15.13–15.70, never >18), no hot-print repricing flip (flash PMI non-reversing). MNEME's stand-down (broadened gap + VIX>18) never approached. TRACE's absolute invalidation (DIA gap >1% + VIX>18) never approached; its data-availability stand-down on 08-21 was NOT what closed it — Window A delivered, and the vote gate correctly found no decisive signal.
  • Forward risk (next sessions): PCE Aug 26 + NVDA Q2 Aug 26 — Tier-1, hard skip for both stacks by pre-registered rule; Jackson Hole Aug 27–29. The weekend-gap clock is live: Trump's Iran economic-isolation package details are due Monday — a genuine weekend-gap setup (Blindspot 5) that a quiet Friday close should not be read as clearing. Oil/Hormuz (Brent ~$93, +7% over five days) + rates (10-yr ~4.74%, 30-yr ~5.28% near 2007 highs) remain the live non-calendar tails. The week netted lower on the bond sell-off; Friday was a partial recovery, not a trend break.

Per-Member Binding Gate Analysis

MNEME — binding gate: Window A vote ≥62%. Near-miss data says REGIME, not calibration. Cluster resolved on 08-21 with a decisive, profitable fire.

The period's binding gate was the Window A vote threshold (≥62%). The near-miss data: A-vote at exactly 60% on 08-18/08-19/08-20 (and 08-14 before the period) with ample similarity (0.735–0.8499) every time, plus the single-window 08-20 B at vote=93% but max_sim=0.399 vs the 0.50 floor. With K=15, the vote increments in ~6.7pp steps, so 62% sits between 9-of-15 (60%) and 10-of-15 (66.7%); the persistent 60% cluster is the gate's natural binomial resolution point. Consistent clustering across structurally distinct session types (mild-down pullback, FOMC-adjacent, broad down-day) is the documented KNN regime diagnostic — the gate is set at the resolution point, not overfit to one session type. The clinching evidence: 08-21 the cluster resolved at vote=73.3%, sim 0.8499, and WON (+$213.15). A too-tight gate would have continued missing a persistent edge; instead it cleared exactly when the continuation shape became decisive. The 08-20 B sim-miss (0.399 vs 0.50) is a real 0.10 miss, not a graze — the sim floor correctly withheld on a marginal-similarity day. Implication: no calibration tweak; the 60% cluster is healthy regime behavior. SPRT CONSISTENT (LLR +3.963) confirms the live win rate is tracking the backtest. Watch the Window C rolling-15-trade PF monitor (no C trades this period) and keep the 60%→73.3% resolution in mind — if the A-vote clusters at 60% again into PCE/NVDA week, it remains regime, not a trigger.

TRACE — binding gate: composite of data availability (observability) + vote ≥62% / sim ≥0.60. On data-arrival days the gates bound CORRECTLY → REGIME, not calibration. The data path is oscillating.

TRACE's period binding gate is a composite: (1) data availability on the all-blank day (08-20) — no calibration question can even be posed there — and (2) the vote/sim gates on data-arrival days. Where data arrived, the gates bound correctly: 08-18 C at vote=70% but sim 0.473 vs the 0.60 floor (a real 0.13 miss — the sim gate correctly withheld on a marginal-similarity setup); 08-19 A at vote=60% (the recurring 6-of-10 cluster, K=10 resolution point — regime); 08-21 A at vote=40% (a genuine no-signal — the market, not the gate, offered no decisive continuation). No gate has been grazed repeatedly at a threshold value. The dominant constraint is observability: two of the period's four sessions (08-17, 08-20) had no data for most windows, and the recovery is oscillating (08-18 C-only, 08-19 A-only, 08-21 A-only), not one-way. Implication: this is an operational/data-infra hand-off, not a calibration question — the data-infra/runner-logging diagnosis remains the desk's highest-priority open item. No unilateral tweak to locked v2 gates (K=10, max_sim ≥0.60). SPRT CONTINUE, LLR −1.350, −1.595 from DEGRADED; eighteen sessions dry since 07-27, and the DEGRADED clock still cannot start because every dry session is a no-trade day. The pre-registered DEGRADED protocol (desk-PM review → TEMPER conversation within 5 sessions) handles it — but its start condition remains unmet until a qualifying trade fires or the data path is fixed.

Narrative finding: The desk-level value-add this period is the 08-19 shared near-miss — both KNN engines (SPY K=15, DIA K=10) resolved Window A at exactly 60% on the same session with healthy similarity. That convergence means the contained FOMC-adjacent pullback session character, not the instrument, was the binding factor that day — a regime signal that the 62% vote threshold is correctly positioned at both members' natural resolution point. The two members then diverged cleanly on 08-21: SPY's opening window produced a decisive 73.3% continuation fingerprint (MNEME won), while DIA's — despite the Dow being the session's up-leader — produced a 40% no-signal (TRACE correctly stayed out). This is the honest expression of the two stacks' independence: same mechanism, different instruments, different libraries, and the diverging outcomes are information, not failure. Both long-only LOW-VIX continuation mechanisms; no same-day co-fire, so no correlated-session counting issue for the pool.

Open TEMPER Items (Carried Forward)

  • MNEME — Window A vote clustering at 60% (regime watch). RESOLVED this session: the cluster cleared on 08-21 at vote=73.3% with a +$213.15 WIN, confirming the regime (natural binomial resolution point) reading — the gate was never too tight; it clears when the continuation is decisive. No parameter action; SPRT CONSISTENT (LLR +3.963).
  • MNEME — Window C rolling-15-trade PF < 1.2 suspension monitor. Standing. No Window C trades this period (A drove the single trade). Watch remains open ahead of PCE/NVDA week.
  • TRACE — data-infra/runner-logging diagnosis (observability). UNRESOLVED — highest priority. The data path is oscillating (08-17 all-blank → 08-18 C-only → 08-19 A-only → 08-20 all-blank → 08-21 A-only). On 08-21 Window A finally delivered a genuine read but voted 40%. The A-works/B-C-blank window-dependence persists. Flagged again for learnings.md.
  • TRACE — DEGRADED-clock start condition. Pre-registered protocol (desk-PM review at DEGRADED → TEMPER conversation within 5 sessions) is in place; the clock cannot start because no qualifying trade has fired. Now eighteen sessions dry since 07-27. LLR −1.350, −1.595 from DEGRADED. No unilateral action — protocol handles it if a qualifying trade logs.
  • TRACE — reconfirmation ledger items (SPY Calmar, random-entry control, event-day breakdown, VIX regime breakdown, KNN contamination diagnostic). Standing obligations carried from WS2c; due ~2026-08-02. Not advanced this session — the observability failure remains the binding constraint on live accumulation.

Desk Summary for Orchestrator

House Mneme's four-session period (08-18→08-21) ended on its best note: MNEME's Window A vote cluster, stuck at exactly 60% for four sessions, finally cleared at 73.3% on Friday and WON (+$213.15, HARD_FLAT), pushing SPRT to CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (LLR +3.963) and cumulative to +$975.81 (19 trades, 52.6% WR) — a clean regime resolution, not a calibration signal. TRACE stayed dry all period (18 sessions since its last trade on 07-27): its data path is oscillating, not recovering (08-20 all-blank → 08-21 A-only), and even on Friday, when Window A finally delivered a genuine read (sim 0.808), the vote was a clean 40% no-signal; the data-infra/runner-logging diagnosis is the desk's highest-priority open item and the DEGRADED clock (LLR −1.350, −1.595 out) still cannot start on a no-trade day. The structural takeaway is the shared 08-19 60%-vote convergence across both KNN engines — a session-character (regime) signal that the 62% gate sits at both stacks' natural resolution point; no unilateral tweak on either stack. Next week's pivots (PCE + NVDA Aug 26, Jackson Hole Aug 27–29) are hard skips; the live non-calendar tail is the oil/Hormuz weekend-gap clock (Iran details Monday) plus rates at 2007 highs.

  • Flags embedded for learnings.md (desk-blind, own members): MNEME — the Window A vote cluster (60% for four sessions) resolved on 2026-08-21 at vote=73.3%/max_sim 0.8499 and WON +$213.15 (SPY A long 764.57→766.74 HARD_FLAT), confirming the regime (natural binomial resolution point for K=15) reading, not calibration; also a plan-confidence boundary event (p_trade 0.38 LOW, traded-and-won — the healthy counter-case to 07-20's low-confidence co-fire losses). SPRT CONSISTENT (LLR +3.963). TRACE — the data path is oscillating, not one-way recovering (08-17 all-blank → 08-18 C-only → 08-19 A-only → 08-20 all-blank → 08-21 A-only); on 08-21 Window A finally delivered a genuine market read (sim 0.808 above the 0.60 floor) but voted 40% — a clean no-signal distinguishing "market" from "observability" as the binding gate; observability remains the desk's highest-priority open item; SPRT CONTINUE, LLR −1.350, −1.595 from DEGRADED, eighteen sessions dry since 07-27.
