Desk Plan — House Mneme — 2026-08-11

Briefing reference: /Users/dadbot/Desktop/ClaudeBod/projects/dadbrain/Analysis/briefings/2026-08-11-pm.md PM: MNEME

⚠️ DATA-WARNING (must be read before any instrument-level read): today's scanner watchlist (intelligence/2026-08-11-watchlist.md) was generated at 10:16 ET — AFTER the open (the 4:00 AM PT run fired late). Its "pre-market" figures therefore reflect early-session tape, not pre-open levels — and the overnight direction has already reversed intraday (Brent touched ~$90 early, then retreated to ~$87 on US-Iran deal-progress reports). The PM briefing (Alpaca/IEX-verified) is the authoritative price source. All instrument signals from the watchlist are treated as early-session context, never pre-open pre-commitments. Neither stack's gate logic reads the watchlist anyway — this warning is for the desk's session read, not for signal mechanics.

Shared Market Read

  • Event risk today: HIGH per Bucket A convention — CPI prints tomorrow, Wed 8/12, 8:30 AM ET (Tier-1 within 1 session). There is NO Tier-1 today. The real event risk carries into tomorrow, not today — the market is positioned for a tame print (Kalshi <55% odds headline >3.3%, just 15% >3.4%), and a hot surprise is the asymmetric downside. Today's mid-tier items (NFIB printed a beat 99.8 at 6 AM; Existing Home Sales 10 AM; 3-yr note auction 1 PM; CAH morning earnings; CRWV + SMCI after close tonight) are unlikely to move the index tape much. Both stacks are fully eligible today — CPI-eve, not CPI day. No window in either stack holds past 16:00 ET, so nothing carries into the print by construction.
  • Session character expected: Quiet, ranging, CPI-eve drift — low VIX, modestly higher open (SPY +0.13% / QQQ +0.30% pre-market per briefing), no same-day Tier-1, and tomorrow's CPI suppresses conviction. Expect a range-bound, sector-rotated drift like Monday rather than a clean trending day — and explicitly NOT two-sided churn. The second live risk layer is Hormuz/oil whipsaw: oil has already reversed from a ~$90 early touch back to ~$87 Brent on deal-progress headlines; either a fresh escalation or a de-escalation headline is the session's fastest intraday reversal trigger.
  • VIX regime: 15.59 — LOW (<18). This is both stacks' best backtested regime (MNEME VIX<20 PF 2.39; TRACE VIX<20 PF 2.46). No regime-based conviction cut. VIX staying under 20 intraday is a standing condition for both.
  • Key levels: SPY prior close 773.02, prior range 771.91–775.03, SMA20 751.33, ATR(14) 8.83 — well above SMA20, uptrend intact. QQQ prior close 720.80, range 720.33–724.56. DIA not in the briefing price block — TRACE's July band ~$515–524 has migrated with the Dow's record run; confirm the current level at open (last entry 07-27 at $523.31; the Dow opened roughly flat, −0.03%, per the watchlist). Both opens are small-gap / no-gap — the standing "pattern library is thin at index extremes" invalidation (>1.5% gap, SPY ~$11.6) is NOT present for either stack.
  • Macro backdrop: CPI-eve caution over a quiet, rotation-driven tape — energy firmed on the Hormuz bid (oil touched $90 then reversed to ~$87), industrials/quality firm while pre-earnings AI-momentum names sag. Momentum has cooled after a blockbuster EPS season; the week's dominant fork is tomorrow's CPI, and the tape is set up to drift ahead of it.

MNEME — SPY KNN (p_trade 0.50, long, low conviction)

No hard skip today — all three windows eligible. CPI is tomorrow, the skip day; today is CPI-eve and none of NFIB/EHS/CAH/CRWV are Tier-1/Tier-2. This is the same family of quiet no-catalyst session that just worked.

Setup present: Possible — a deliberate 0.50, neither the momentum-following "likely" that busted on 08-05 nor a pessimistic floor. The 08-10 session was the validation half of the forecast lesson: on a quiet continuation-drift Monday (flat open, VIX LOW 15.46, no catalyst), my gates fired at Window A with the minimum passing vote 66.7% (10 of 15) and sim 0.8186 and won +$61.92 — exactly the "regime-supportive" case the 08-05 calibration taught me to price by gate-resolution history. Today repeats the structural ingredients that produced that win: no Tier-1, quiet tape, VIX LOW, continuation-leaning macro backdrop. That is why this is a 0.50, not a 0.30. The counterweight is the briefing's explicit base case — "range-bound CPI-eve drift, not a clean trend" — and my gates' documented tendency to read range days as split votes (08-05: 53/33/47; 08-06: 40/47/53, with B failing sim at 0.473 vs 0.50). A 0.50 is the honest midpoint between "same continuation backdrop that just fired-and-won" and "CPI-eve ranging likely to suppress vote decisiveness."

  • Window A (observe 9:30–10:00, enter 10:00, flat 12:00): filing-time honesty — the runner's A decision is already made by the time this plan is filed (briefing price block 10:01 ET, watchlist 10:16 ET). A's live record is strong (3W/0L including the largest Phase 3 trade). The 10:00–12:00 prediction segment's hazard is a Hormuz headline whipsaw, not a data print — the tape is headline-sensitive today precisely because oil already reversed once.
  • Window B (observe 10:00–12:00, enter 12:00, flat 16:00): anchor window (holdout PF 3.76) and the 07-24 two-tier vulnerability. The two-tier gate on B: if the 10:00–12:00 observation shows SPY/QQQ converging (QQQ holding 720.33/724.56 despite the memory weakness), the afternoon-fade risk is reduced and B is trustworthy; if divergence persists through lunch (SPY firm on energy/industrial rotation, QQQ weak), the 14:00–16:00 execution window is exactly where the tech sell-off reasserts (07-24 shape) and I skip B. 08-06 was the first live sim-side failure on B (0.473 vs 0.50) on precisely that divergence.
  • Window C (observe 12:00–14:00, enter 14:00, flat 15:30): flagged in holdout (PF 1.25) but live 4 straight HARD_FLAT wins (07-23/28/31/08-03, +$284.97). Today C's 14:00–15:30 prediction segment is the CPI-eve positioning window — the same afternoon where B's risk lives. Keep the exceptional-strength assessment stance (max_sim > 0.65 AND vote > 70%) with the standing reminder that C has fired-and-won below it (08-03: 66.7% / 0.7794); the KNN's own gates decide.
  • Sizing vs. event risk: standard 0.75% ($187.50). The HIGH rating is the Bucket A convention for a Tier-1 one session out, not a same-day event; every window hard-flats (12:00 / 16:00 / 15:30) and nothing carries into Wednesday's CPI. The 1.5× ATR stop is the risk control; no defensive sizing, no shadow book — same stance as 08-03/08-04 (the two largest wins of Phase 3) and 08-10 (the most recent win).
  • Session-character fit: moderate — a continuation-leaning quiet tape that my library just recognized (08-10), with the standing risk that CPI-eve range structure yields split votes.
  • Key levels: SPY 773.02 prior close; 771.91–775.03 prior range; SMA20 751.33; ATR(14) 8.83. A break of 775.03 = record-extension shape; a break of 771.91 = continuation kill. Open printed a small gap (~+0.13% pre-market, now ~flat mid-morning) — the >1.5% invalidation (~$11.6) is not present.
  • Invalidation: >1.5% SPY gap (absent — small, flat open); VIX > 20 intraday (15.59 now — a Hormuz escalation headline is the only plausible path); for B specifically, unresolved two-tier divergence through lunch = skip B. None of these are gate edits — the KNN gates decide; these are stand-down conditions for the session read.
  • SPRT: CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (sticky at #15, LLR +4.133). Informational only — changes nothing about gates or sizing.

TRACE — DIA KNN (p_trade 0.30, long, low conviction)

No hard skip today — a normal-Dow CPI-eve session, IF the data path delivers. The binding constraint today is not the market and not the vote threshold — it is data availability. 08-10 was the second full-day blank this month: all three windows returned no_data, no window even evaluated, on the exact session the plan framed as the next honest reading. B/C-window no_data has now appeared on six sessions total (07-15, 07-22, 07-24, 07-28, 08-05, 08-10). SPY's A window fired for MNEME at 10:00 the same morning, so the same-day IEX fetch path worked for SPY — the DIA-side same-day bar availability is the open, load-bearing question, and it is the reason this forecast is a guarded 0.30 rather than a stronger read.

Setup present: Possible, but gated on data first, then on a genuinely decisive 7-of-10 vote. The arithmetic is unchanged and explicit: K=10 makes 62% mathematically unreachable; the effective bar is 70% (7 of 10 neighbours), and 60% (6 of 10) is the maximum failing vote. Six distinct sessions have resolved at exactly 60% (07-15 A, 07-17 C, 07-21 A, 07-31 C, 08-04 A+C, 08-06 B — the first B-window entry); 7-of-10 has cleared exactly once (08-03 C, then blocked on sim by 0.011). That is calibration-side evidence for a TEMPER conversation, never a unilateral tweak — and today, if bars arrive on a quiet normal-Dow session, is where it gets its next honest reading. What today offers the recent no-trade days didn't: a small/no gap at the open (Dow −0.03% per watchlist), which is NOT the open-high-fade-on-gap-up shape that produced 6 of 7 Phase 3 losses; a normal-Dow observation session, the cleanest since 07-27.

  • Windows: A (observe 9:30–10:00, enter 10:00, flat 12:00 — decision already made by the runner at filing time, if bars arrived; recorded for the record). B (observe 10:00–12:00, enter 12:00, flat 16:00). C (observe 12:00–14:00, enter 14:00, flat 15:30). Similarity has been healthy on recent normal days (0.831–0.959 vs the 0.60 floor); the sim gate remains a single graze (08-03 C, 0.589), not a cluster.
  • Sizing vs. event risk: standard 0.75% ($187.50). The SPRT is explicitly NOT a sizing input (LLR −1.350, −1.595 from DEGRADED at −2.944). If a qualifying trade logs today and loses, the pre-registered DEGRADED protocol starts its clock (desk PM review within 1 session, TEMPER conversation within 5) — that is the pre-registered mechanism, and the vote-gate calibration question can ride that same track. The HIGH event rating is CPI-eve convention, not a same-day event; every window hard-flats by 16:00.
  • Session-character fit: moderate — a flat/small-gap normal-Dow session avoids the gap-up-fade losing shape; the Dow's industrial tilt (CAT, HON, MMM, CVX) is oil-exposed, and oil's reversal from ~$90 to ~$87 is a mild relief, not a driver.
  • Key levels: DIA not in the briefing price block; confirm the current level at open (last entry 07-27 at $523.31; the Dow has closed at records repeatedly since; the Dow opened roughly flat per the watchlist). No gap at open — the >1.5% invalidation is not present.
  • Invalidation: >1.5% DIA gap (absent); VIX > 20 (15.59 now); a Hormuz escalation or de-escalation headline that turns the session news-driven (macro-shaped bars are my library's thin class). A 6-of-10 resolution is NOT an invalidation — it is evidence accumulation for the calibration-side conversation. no_data on all three windows is NOT a gate resolution — it is an observability flag that must be diagnosed, not celebrated.
  • SPRT: CONTINUE — static today unless a trade logs; n=7 (W1/L6), LLR −1.350.
  • Data-availability note (load-bearing): if today again returns no_data on DIA, that is the third full-day blank (07-24, 08-10, 08-11) and a confirmed pattern, not an absence — it warrants a runner-logging / DIA same-day-bar availability diagnosis (SPY's same-morning fire shows the fetch path works for SPY), distinct from and prior to the vote-gate TEMPER conversation. The desk will stop letting "data availability note" pass as an explanation if it repeats a third time.

Pooled note (Family 5)

Both stacks are eligible today — a second consecutive same-day-eligible session (08-10 and 08-11). Same-day trades across MNEME and TRACE count as one clustered observation for pooled significance (per the ECHO v5 correlated-session finding). The pooled read today: a quiet, no-catalyst CPI-eve session is near both stacks' library home turf — continuation-drift conditions for MNEME's SPY library (which just fired-and-won on 08-10), a flat/small-gap normal-Dow session for TRACE's DIA library provided bars arrive. The intra-desk asymmetry stays as documented: MNEME's event-day blackout reads as foregone opportunity on SPY, TRACE's as genuine protection on DIA — neither is tested today (no event), so today is a clean control-condition session for both, with TRACE's data-availability the only desk-level risk to that clean-read status. SPRTs: MNEME CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (LLR +4.133); TRACE CONTINUE (LLR −1.350). Each stack sizes independently; there is no pooled budget. CPI tomorrow (8/12) is a hard skip for both stacks by pre-registered rule — this is the last trading day of the week for the desk.

GHOST — IWM (FROZEN — Phase 2, Decision D2)

Skipped entirely. No plan, no forecast, no plan file.

Plan Filed

  • Filed: 2026-08-11 ~10:20 ET (post-open — the 10:01 ET briefing price block is authoritative; the 10:16 ET watchlist is early-session context only; Window A entry decisions were already made by the runners at 10:00 ET)
  • Frontmatter forecasts complete for every active member: yes
  • GHOST: FROZEN (Phase 2) — not planned for
  • Firm-wide status: GO (no Tier-1 today; event risk HIGH per Bucket A — CPI Wed Aug 12 TOMORROW, Tier-1 within 1 session; Hormuz/oil headline risk live; watchlist generated post-open at 10:16 ET — briefing is the price authority)

What Happened

Period since last reflection (2026-08-10 → 2026-08-11 — one session)
DateSessionMNEME (SPY)TRACE (DIA)
08-11 (Tue)Quiet CPI-eve drift, no same-day Tier-1. Modestly lower open, faded, stabilized — SPY −0.52% to 770.52, range 769.41–774.53, 0.57× ATR, flat last hour; VIX LOW 15.28. Drivers: US–Iran/oil overhang (energy bid), Alphabet Gemini 3.5 Pro delay → Communication Services −1.9% (single-name/sector, not broad risk-off). NFIB beat, Existing Home Sales −1.7%, CAH beat — none moved the tape. Event risk HIGH per Bucket A (CPI Wed Aug 12 TOMORROW — Tier-1 within 1 session)TRADED — Window C long, entry 771.19 @ 14:00, STOP 770.73 @ 14:10, −$44.62 (vote 66.7% = 10/15, sim 0.6811)No trade — no_trade:no_signal, blocked=knn_gate A:vote=30%/62% sim=0.880/0.6 B:no_data C:no_data — Window A finally evaluated (resolved low); B/C still no_data
Period1 trade, −$44.620 trades, $0.00

Combined desk cumulative (Phase 3): +$486.41 across 23 trades (16 MNEME +$835.62, 7 TRACE −$349.21), 43.5% WR. The 22-trade pool from the 08-10 reflection gains one observation — MNEME's 16th.

MNEME — first losing trade since 08-04: the C streak broke, the plan's own flagged-risk window delivered the loss

MNEME traded Window C and lost: long entry 771.19 @ 14:00, stop 770.66, stopped out 770.73 @ 14:10, −$44.62 (97 sh). The fire was gate-valid: vote 66.7% (10 of 15 — the K=15 minimum passing vote) and max_sim 0.6811 vs the 0.50 floor. The session was the plan's structural base case — quiet range-bound CPI-eve drift — but the 14:00–15:30 prediction segment, which the plan explicitly flagged as the "CPI-eve positioning window where the afternoon fade lives," resolved down and took the 1.5× ATR stop in ten minutes. The stop was correct risk control: SPY kept drifting to a 770.52 close, so exiting at 770.73 avoided further loss. Cumulative 16 trades, 9W/7L, +$835.62; SPRT CONSISTENT-WITH-BACKTEST (sticky from #14, LLR +3.864, down from +4.133 — still a wide margin to DEGRADED).

The load-bearing question for MNEME — binding gate, regime or calibration? — answers plainly: no gate was binding; the setup fired and the loss is distributional, not a threshold being grazed. MNEME's near-miss data this period is a filled trade that stopped out, not a no-trade near-miss row. The vote (minimum pass), the similarity (comfortable margin), and the session-character conditions all passed; the position lost on the exit mechanism. That is a normal loss on a ranging day, consistent with SPRT. However, the desk must own one recurring thread that this loss surfaced: for the second consecutive session (08-10 Window A, today Window C), MNEME's plan recorded an "exceptional-strength / ≥70% vote" stance that the TEMPER-cleared gates do not enforce, and the gate fired below it — 08-10's sub-stance A won, today's sub-stance C lost. This is a plan-writing discipline issue (stances are advisory, the gates decide), not calibration evidence — and it must not become a rationalization for touching locked v5 gates. Watch item: today broke Window C's live 4-straight-HARD_FLAT win streak (07-23/28/31, 08-03); C is the structurally-flagged window (holdout PF 1.25), but the pre-registered C suspension monitor (rolling 15-trade PF < 1.2) is far from triggering. One C loss after four wins is not decay — watch the rolling record.

TRACE — partial data recovery, and a real regime read on A; the 60%-cluster did not advance

TRACE logged no trade, and the near-miss note is a two-part story: blocked=knn_gate A:vote=30%/62% sim=0.880/0.6 B:no_data C:no_data. The headline is that Window A finally evaluated — after 08-10's full blank, the 6-bar 9:30–10:00 observation returned data and resolved at 30% (3 of 10), max_sim 0.880. That is a regime / no-signal resolution (the setup never came close to the effective 70% bar) and the first honest DIA read since the blank stretch. But Windows B and C (24-bar through 12:00/14:00) still returned no_data.

The load-bearing question for TRACE this period: the binding gate was data availability on B/C (observability, not a threshold), with Window A resolving as regime (30% — wait). This is not the third full-day blank the 08-10 reflection pre-registered as a "confirmed pattern" trigger — A came back. What it is instead is a partial recovery with a sharper, more diagnosable signature: the early-window same-day bars arrive; the two later 24-bar windows do not. That is a materially better clue for the data-infra / runner-logging diagnosis (the DIA same-day bar issue is window-dependent, not a total fetch failure), and it stays distinct from the vote-gate calibration question. Critically, the 60%-cluster did not advance — today's A resolved at 30%, not 60%, so the cluster stays at six distinct sessions at exactly 6-of-10, and the calibration-side TEMPER conversation remains exactly where it was, one honest full-reading session short. No unilateral tweak, ever. SPRT CONTINUE, n=7 (W1/L6), LLR −1.350, −1.595 from DEGRADED; the dry stretch since TRACE's last qualifying trade (07-27) is now ten sessions, but the DEGRADED clock still cannot start on a no-trade day. If TRACE ever logs a qualifying trade and loses, that protocol begins immediately.

Plan calibration since last reflection (WS4b rows — 2026-08-10 and 2026-08-11)

08-11MNEME0.50long110.2500
08-11TRACE0.30long00.0900

MNEME's all-long forecast has now two consecutive traded-direction hits (08-10, 08-11, both long, Brier 0.3025 → 0.25) — including on the losing day, which is a reminder that direction accuracy and P&L are separate axes (a losing long on a down-drift day is still a correct directional read). TRACE's 0.30 calibrated by Brier both sessions, but for the recurring wrong exercised reason (B/C data blank / low A vote, not a decisive gate resolution) — the score flatters sessions that produced little information.

Desk-level observations
  • No same-day clustered observation — MNEME traded, TRACE did not, so the Family 5 pool adds one unclustered observation (the 23rd), and the pooled statistics advance by one.
  • The intra-desk asymmetry this period cuts both ways at once. MNEME's library read a quiet CPI-eve day, fired at its minimum pass vote on the flagged-risk window, and lost a small, well-risk-managed amount; TRACE's library finally got a genuine DIA read (a 30% A vote) but was still shut out of B/C by data availability. One member exercised its mechanism and took a normal loss; the other got a partial reading and a sharper diagnostic clue.
  • Two standing threads, both evidence-gated, neither a gate action: (1) MNEME's recurring advisory-stance-vs-gate wording on Window C (watch C's rolling record; the pre-registered suspension monitor is the mechanism, not a tweak); (2) TRACE's B/C data-availability pattern, now sharpened to "early window works, later windows don't" for the data-infra diagnosis. Neither is calibration evidence that would license a unilateral change.

Event Risk vs. Expectation

  • Event risk call (HIGH — CPI Wed Aug 12 TOMORROW per Bucket A): Correct. No same-day Tier-1; the mid-tier items (NFIB beat, Existing Home Sales −1.7%, CAH beat) did not move the index tape, exactly as rated. CPI is tomorrow — a hard skip for both stacks by pre-registered rule. No window holds past 16:00 ET by construction, so nothing carries into the print.
  • Session character call: Correct — "quiet, range-bound CPI-eve drift, not churn" was precisely what printed (SPY −0.52%, 0.57× ATR, flat last hour; modest downside single-name/sector-driven, not broad risk-off). The plan flagged C's afternoon as the positioning/fade window — that is where MNEME's loss came from.
  • Hormuz/oil layer: The plan flagged this as the fastest intraday reversal trigger; the oil bid softened intraday but no de-escalation headline landed in any prediction segment. Not the driver of MNEME's stop.
  • Invalidations: none triggered — no >1.5% gap at the small open for either stack, VIX stayed LOW (15.28, never >20), no news-shaped-bar stand-down. MNEME's B-window two-tier gate was never tested (C fired; no B evaluation needed).
  • Forward risk (next sessions): Wed 08-12 — CPI (Tier-1, 8:30 AM ET) — hard skip for both stacks by pre-registered rule — this was the desk's last trading day of the week. NVDA earnings Aug 26.

Reflection Filed

  • Filed: 2026-08-11 (EOD reflection, desk cadence)
  • Next session event risk (from EOD briefing): HIGH — CPI Wed Aug 12 (Tier-1) — hard skip for both members; no trade expected.
  • GHOST: frozen (Phase 2, Decision D2) — no reflection written.
  • MNEME and TRACE per-member reflections filed.
  • Flags embedded for learnings.md (desk-blind, own members): MNEME — Window C exceptional-strength stance (max_sim > 0.65 AND vote > 70%) recurred as advisory-only on 2026-08-11; C fired at the gate-valid minimum pass (66.7% = 10/15, sim 0.6811), stopped out at 770.73 after entry 771.19 @ 14:00, −$44.62, with SPY continuing to a 770.52 close so the stop was correct risk control. Second consecutive recurrence of stance-vs-gate wording (08-10 A fired below a ≥70% stance and won; today C fired below and lost) — plan stances are advisory, the TEMPER-cleared gates decide; plan-writing discipline, not a gate edit. Binding-gate verdict: no gate binding (filled trade, not a near-miss); loss is distributional, SPRT stays CONSISTENT (LLR +3.864). Window C's live 4-win streak reset — watch C's rolling record; the pre-registered 15-trade-PF<1.2 suspension monitor is not near triggering. TRACE — runner returned blocked=knn_gate A:vote=30%/62% sim=0.880/0.6 B:no_data C:no_data on 2026-08-11: NOT a third full-day blank but a partial recovery — Window A (6-bar 9:30–10:00) finally returned data and resolved at 30% (3-of-10, sim 0.880 vs 0.60 floor — a regime/no-signal resolution, not a near-miss), while the two 24-bar windows B/C stayed no_data. The DIA same-day bar issue is therefore window-dependent, not a total fetch failure — a concrete refinement for the data-infra/runner-logging diagnosis, distinct from the vote-gate calibration cluster, which did not advance (today was a 30%, not a 60%; cluster stays at six sessions). SPRT CONTINUE, LLR −1.350, −1.595 from DEGRADED, ten sessions since the last qualifying trade (07-27); DEGRADED clock cannot start on a no-trade day. Binding-gate verdict: data availability on B/C (observability), regime on A (30% — wait); no calibration signal, no unilateral tweak.
